The Media Communications Coordinator will work under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission, and in close collaboration with the Senior Management Team at IOM UK, the Media and Communications Division at IOM headquarters (MCD) and the Communication Teams at the Regional Office in Brussels to support multiplatform delivery to promote IOM’s work in the UK and globally and to generate positive and well represented coverage of all IOM activities.

In this exciting role, the successful candidate will provide the organisation with a timely, accurate and relevant financial management service by assuming day-to-day responsibility for the organisation’s accounting function, to enable the senior management team and the Board of Trustees to assess results and performance and make informed, strategic decisions, and ensure the organisation complies with statutory and corporate regulation and requirements. 

You will work closely with the treasurer, directors and managers to enable them to manage their programme finances and support them to report to donors and to devise sound plans for growth and sustainability. 

The UK chapter expects to grow income across all sources, including from institutions and foundations. You will play a critical role in maintaining and building on this success. 

You will also be responsible for and provide input from a financial and management perspective on strategic development and the general organisation-wide structure and management as part of the Senior Management Team.

Start Network is an independent charity made up of more than 80 aid agency members across five continents, including international, national and local organisations.

The Start Funds MEAL Officer will work with colleagues within both SCUK and Start Network. Previously (until May 2019) Start Network and Start Funds and Programmes were hosted by Save the Children UK (SCUK) since its creation in 2012. The position sits within Save the Children UK as a Grant Custodian on behalf of the Start Network supported by a Grant Custodian Agreement (GCA) which describes the roles and commitments of each entity. 

About the role

The Start Network funds have a robust monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) portfolio to strengthen evidence-based learning, performance and overall accountability towards the people affected by or at-risk of crises, donors, members, and partners.

Reporting to the Crisis Financing MEAL Lead, the CARF MEAL Officer will play an important role to support the ongoing MEAL activities of anticipation, early action and risk financing initiatives, with a larger focus on the impact of Start Network's newest finance mechanism, Start Ready.

This role will particularly focus on MEAL requirements and activities funded by European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operation (ECHO) and will support and work closely with CARF MEAL Advisor and the Learning and Research Advisor (within the Evidence and Learning Team).

In this role, you will: 

Performance

• Support development, monitoring, and reporting of anticipation, early action and risk financing initiatives' Key Performance Indicators used in donor reporting, governance committee meetings and in other external fora as required, with a specific focus on MEAL requirement and activities funded by European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operation (ECHO).
• Strengthen management information systems and processes for data quality, storage and visualisation.
• Contribute towards the identification and implementation of diverse and innovative approaches to MEAL.
• Support the annual post-season learning reviews of the various Disaster Risk Financing systems.

Accountability

• Deliver and enhance Start Funds' quality, accountability and monitoring practices to members, partners and affected populations by organising and facilitating learning debriefs and pre/post season workshops and reviewing project report forms.

Knowledge

• Contribute towards continuous improvement of technical quality, processes and outputs of CARF MEAL including, but not limited to, the development of methodological guidelines, MEAL tools and approaches.
• Produce and support various thematic research, reviews, case studies and learning products according to the CARF MEAL work plan.

Teamwork

• Liaise with Senior Strategic Partnership Officer –ECHO and programme/operational staff to support all ECHO MEAL requirements.
• Work with the Start Communications and Digital Team and the Start Programmes Communications Manager to ensure visibility, awareness, and learning, on the role and use of forecast-based information for anticipatory responses.

About you

To be successful, it is important that you have:

• Previous experience delivering MEAL in national and/or international contexts for humanitarian or development programmes.
• Previous experience of reporting on donor or funders grants (ideally ECHO Grants) in an international organisation.
• Excellent data analysis skills.
• Proven experience of embracing new approaches, technology and ways of working.
• Experience of using qualitative and quantitative analysis software.
• Experience of using Salesforce or other customer relationship management (CRM) system.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present data and evidence in a user-friendly form and to stakeholders at different levels.

We are looking for an exceptional philanthropic fundraising leader, with experience of leading an appeal and first-hand programme management skills, to undertake a one year maternity cover as the Interim Head of Child Opportunity Appeal. The postholder will be responsible for overseeing the appeal, working collaboratively with the team to reach their significant fundraising targets across HNWIs, trusts, institutional funders and corporate partners.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced youth worker to join our Brent team. You will bring energy, compassion, and resilience to make a real change to the life chances of young people in the UK asylum system.

You will be responsible for supporting young people aged 14-25 years, enabling them to access a range of social, emotional, and practical support as they navigate the complex and challenging processes of the UK asylum system.You will help us run activities for young people at our advice hub on Wednesday evenings in Brent and run our youth group on Thursday evenings in Brent n as well as our sporting activities and trips.

You will work closely with our Brent Youth Development Coordinator. You will need to be able to work under pressure, acting as a consistent and stable point of contact for young people, ensuring that their safety and well-being are paramount.

• Ensure a broad-ranging and inclusive partnerships. This includes:
  • Contributing to the implementation of SCUK's overall institutional partnerships strategy.
  • Management of information and status of relationships/financing to keep our leadership (CEO, Executive Directors) up-to-date with our partnerships.
  • Supporting the organisation to continually build strategic understanding of partners and any evolving trends that may impact the relationship.
  • Representing Save the Children with the appropriate partner contacts and providing strong support to colleagues in their external engagement (country, regional and HQ levels).

  • Secure support from colleagues from across the organisation to contribute to our engagement with our regular and new accounts
• Ensure increased quality and consistency in the design, delivery and reporting of all projects/awards across the account and SCI. This includes:
  • Supporting the wider account team on the development and delivery of donor specific capacity building plans.
  • Working closely with the Donor Compliance team to identify risks, mitigating measures and setting adequate monitoring mechanisms to support wider award management processes.
  • Developing common standard approaches to quality and compliance across the account. Ensuring partner regulations and expectations are well understood among parties involved.
  • Engaging with account members, where necessary, and SCI in generating learning and best practices.
  • Ensuring strong knowledge management systems are in place.
• Collaborate with team members to develop and embed our partnership and management approach, to maximise the benefit of the team's work to the wider organisation and movement.

 About you

To be successful, it is important that you have:

• Skills in partnership management and market assessment in relation to overall positioning with partners.
• Experience, interest and knowledge of current thinking and future trends and thorough understanding of international development issues.
• Proven experience of providing creative and innovative approaches in developing new initiatives that contribute towards partnership objectives.
• Strong management behaviours, including external relations, partner focussed-approaches, delivery of results, strategic purpose, negotiating & influencing.
• Experience in relationship management, working with donors, trusts and foundations, or equally demanding partners.
• Experience of undertaking industry trend and donor specific research, finding relevant, reliable, and up to date information quickly.
• Excellent coordination and relationship building skills in forming and maintaining both internal and external relationships.
• Strong analytical skills with ability to present complex information in a clear and succinct manner, ability to analyse trends and report on key financial metrics.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including senior level briefings and presentations, both for internal and external audiences with appropriate attention to detail.
• Ideally knowledge of and experience working directly with Governments and other key actors such as multi-lateral institutions e.g. their structure and operations, priorities (geographic, sectorial, thematic, at policy & advocacy levels).
• Ideally a good understanding of project design, quality programming and effective delivery.
• Knowledge of and experience working directly with institutional donor partners

We are looking for a Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Officer to join the Start Network within our Humanitarian Department to support the ongoing MEAL activities for the Start Funds to enhance its performance, learning, and accountability.

Start Network is an independent charity made up of more than 80 aid agency members across five continents, including international, national and local organisations.

The Start Funds MEAL Officer will work with colleagues within both SCUK and Start Network. Previously (until May 2019) Start Network and Start Funds and Programmes were hosted by Save the Children UK (SCUK) since its creation in 2012. The position sits within Save the Children UK as a Grant Custodian on behalf of the Start Network supported by a Grant Custodian Agreement (GCA) which describes the roles and commitments of each entity.

About the role
The Start Network funds have a robust monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) portfolio to strengthen evidence-based learning, performance and overall accountability towards the people affected by or at-risk of crises, donors, members, and partners.

Reporting to the Crisis Financing MEAL Lead, the Start Funds MEAL Officer will play an important role to support the ongoing MEAL activities for the Start Funds to enhance its performance, learning, and accountability.

In this role, you will: 

Performance

• Support development, monitoring, and reporting of Start Funds' Key Performance Indicators and related metrics used in donor reporting, Start Fund Committee meetings and in other external fora as required.
• Strengthen management information systems and processes for data quality, storage and visualisation.
• Contribute towards the identification and implementation of diverse and innovative approaches to MEAL.
• Coordinate with the Communications and Membership Engagement teams to develop and widely disseminate learning outputs produced by the MEAL team.

Accountability

• Deliver and enhance Start Funds' quality, accountability and monitoring practices to members, partners and affected populations by conducting Learning Exchanges, reviewing project report forms and carrying out project assessments
• Manage Learning Grant processes and outputs in coordination with MEAL Advisor

Knowledge

• Contribute towards continuous improvement of technical quality, processes and outputs of Start Funds MEAL including, but not limited to, the development of methodological guidelines, MEAL tools and approaches.
• Produce and support various thematic research, reviews, studies and learning products according to the MEAL work plan.
• Support capacity building activities for the Start Funds Programme team and the wider and membership for relevant themes such as data quality, evidence-based programming etc.
• Support the MEAL Advisor in business development activities including the scaling-up of the Start Funds.

About you

To be successful, it is important that you have:

• Previous experience delivering MEAL for humanitarian or development programmes
• Excellent data analysis skills
• Proven experience of embracing new approaches, technology and ways of working
• Experience of using qualitative and quantitative analysis software
• Experience of using Salesforce or other customer relationship management (CRM) system
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present data and evidence in a user-friendly form and to stakeholders at different levels
• Demonstrable experience of strong teamwork capabilities and collaboration
• Undergraduate degree, ideally in social science, research methods, humanitarian response or related fields
• Language skills - working proficiency in Spanish
