Relationship Manager - East Midlands Jobs
Programme Manager - East Midlands
Location: Derby
Salary: £36,050 FTE
Hours: 35 hours per week
Department: Prison delivery
Job Type: Full time
Contract Type: Permanent
Benefits: Standard Shannon Trust: Employee benefits include a company contribution to pension scheme of up to 5%, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays, life insurance, paid volunteering days, discounts via Reward Gateway and an Employee Assistance Programme.
Do you want to join an organisation committed to addressing low literacy and numeracy levels amongst people in prison?
Our three year strategy is working well with improvements and expansions to our delivery model, a renewed vision and mission and we want to continue to develop and grow. To support this, we are recruiting for a new programme manager to grow our programmes and contracts in our East Midlands region. Our East Midlands area covers prisons such as HMP Foston Hall, HMP Leicester, HMP Whatton, HMP Gartree, HMP Lowdham Grange, HMP Sudbury, HMP Fosse Way, HMP Morton Hall, HMP North Sea Camp, HMP Peterborough and HMP Five Wells. We are seeking proactive, committed, and enthusiastic applicants to join our team and help us continue our journey.
Working closely with people in prison, prison managers, Shannon Trust staff and volunteers you will ensure development of our criminal programmes maximising literacy and numeracy learning opportunities for people across a number of prisons and contracts in your area.
Ideally you will have some experience of prison settings, managing teams and contract performance, underpinned by the ability to build relationships and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach. We want to hear from applicants who can lead, drive performance and who are as committed to the cause as we are.
This is a home-based role but does require travel across our central region and some work based onsite in the prisons.
Employee benefits include a company contribution to pension scheme of up to 5%, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays, life insurance, paid volunteering days, discounts via Reward Gateway and an Employee Assistance Programme. The biggest benefit though is our culture – our people really want to work for the organisation.
We welcome job applications from people with lived experience of the criminal justice system and do not routinely ask for details of any criminal convictions. These roles do require prison security clearance, so we will need to ask for details of any relevant criminal convictions before an offer of employment is finalised.
Interviews are planned for the 28 May 2023.

We are looking for a standout relationship manager to join our fantastic team of fundraisers who work tirelessly to raise funds for Young Lives vs Cancer. This is a role of variety, opportunity and innovation and we are looking for someone who embraces change and constantly strives to achieve more.
A great personality and team ethic are really important in this role as you will maximise income for Young Live vs Cancer by coaching our supporters to reach their goals, whilst seeking out new fundraising opportunities for your geographical area. East Midlands is filled with some of our most committed supporters and there is so much opportunity to grow our supporter base across the region. Our Social Workers support families from across the counties and our Home from Home 'Billy's House' in Nottingham enables families to stay close to their loved one for free during treatment, so building relationships with these teams is a must.
We are not your average employer, nor are we looking for an average candidate in a 9-5 role. Whether it is finishing early for an appointment, picking up from school or further education, we can help to make it work for you. Many of the team work condensed or flexible hours to suit their individual circumstance so we would love to discuss your needs more at interview.
Experience within a similar role, or within the charity sector, would be great but we know that a lot of the most important skills in this role are easily transferable from another sector. We want the right person and we will invest in training the right candidate. The skills we are looking for in this role are:
• Master at storytelling

This role is subject to a Criminal Record Check. In the event of a successful application a Disclosure report will be sought at a basic level.
Diversity declaration
At Young Lives vs Cancer, we recognise that opportunities for too many people remain a condition of their race, class, gender identity, disability, sexual orientation – or a combination. This has never been acceptable to us as an organisation.
We are committed to taking anti-oppressive action and removing barriers in our recruitment practices. We particularly welcome applications from members of minoritised communities and creating equitable opportunities for all. We are passionately committed to taking actions and making changes to be a truly diverse, inclusive and equitable organisation, as well as reflective of the diverse children and young people we support. If you share our vision that ‘every young person should be empowered to gain the confidence, independence and skills they need for a better and brighter future’ we might have the perfect role for you!
ThinkForward is recruiting a Development Manager in London to join our team fundraising for our unique programme supporting young people into further education and employment.
About ThinkForward: Why we exist
ThinkForward exists to empower young people to create better and brighter futures. We want them to be able to identify, realise and shape their aspirations and be ready to make a successful transition into work.
Young people experiencing barriers such as challenging relationships, living in low income households, or growing up in areas with a lack of access to opportunities can be confronted with hurdles. Without the right support these can lead to high risks of unemployment and long term effects on their career and life chances.
There are more than 800,000 16 24 year olds in the UK who aren’t at school or college, or don’t have a job or training place. Our ambition is to prevent young people becoming one of these statistics.
About ThinkForward: What we do
We run three programmes that help young people to gain the independence, skills and confidence they need to fulfil their potential and have happy and successful futures. In an ever changing world we support them to prepare for their move to adulthood, the working world and the start of the rest of their lives.
Overview of the role
Our Development Manager will play a key role in supporting ThinkForward to achieve ambitious growth targets and deliver on our mission to support young people facing challenges to build a brighter, better future.
You will work flexibly across all income streams to identify and convert high-value funding opportunities from trusts and foundations, corporate partners and high-net-worth individuals, as well as supporting excellent stewardship for our existing funders. You will bring technical excellence in relation to the highest standard of compelling application and report writing, and you will develop strong relationships internally to facilitate a collaborative approach to income generation. Ideally, you will also bring expertise in at least one of ThinkForward’s identified income streams. The Development Manager will be comfortable working with healthy pressure within a supportive and collaborative team culture and will be able to maintain a high level of productivity, pace and resilience in what is a challenging funding environment.
