The Network Development Manager (Clubs & Compliance) shall lead on the support and management of this dynamic and evolving membership base through the enhancement of the Special Olympics GB delivery model to achieve our purpose of unlocking more opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities. This person will report directly to the Head of Network and work closely alongside other members of the team and key stakeholders, with a specific focus on our Accredited Club and Programme compliance and development and overarching responsibility of maintaining our membership delivery model mechanics and key processes. You will be required to try to fill the defecit each year between income and expenditure, raising 

community engagement, grants and bid writing, Wills and Legacies and gaining regular donors, while overseeing a programme of events with an assistant for support?

Fundraising Manager

£38,000 – £41,000 FTE dependent on experience. Reporting to the CEO. Four days, based at Jecca’s House, Chipping Campden.

Responsibilites:

Fundraising – General 

• To deliver a continuous fundraising operation to meet the short, medium and long-term revenue needs of the charity as determined by the CEO and Board of Trustees 
• Establish and maintain positive relationships across the organisation and an in-depth understanding of the charity’s needs and priorities to ensure your fundraising activity contributes positively 
• Development and maintenance of key resources to support our fundraising activity, including case for support, programme schedule and budgets 
• To develop corporate sponsorship proposals and be prepared to respond promptly to funding offers and opportunities 
• To steward regular donors, ensure they receive appropriate thanks and are kept informed
• Develop strategy to increase number of regular donors through the implementation of a regular giving programme 
• Grow and manage the regular donors’ scheme, Payroll Giving, In-Memory giving, and appeals, contributing to the overall fundraising strategy. 
• Champion the use of data and insight to drive regular giving, utilising database (Beacon) for effective prospect and donor management 
• Monitor, evaluate, and forecast campaign performance, ensuring targets are met and providing reports as required 
• Spotting fundraising opportunities and raising awareness of the CHNs work 

Fundraising – Trusts & Foundations 

• Researching fundraising opportunities which are likely to fund the work of CHN, writing compelling grant applications and building and managing a new business pipeline to deliver year-on-year growth in Trust and Foundations Fundraising income 
• Cultivate relationships with prospects and identify appropriate projects or areas of CHN’s work to meet their criteria, developing tailored, persuasive funding proposals 
• Deliver first-class grant management – taking responsibility for all requirements of funders including impact reporting, financial monitoring and reporting 
• Ensure robust and practical monitoring and evaluation plans are in place to demonstrate the impact of grants you manage and report effectively to funders 

Relationship Management 

• Provide excellent stewardship and supporter care to regular donors 
• Produce and deliver tailored engagement plans to deepen and grow CHN donor relationships
• Build and maintain strong internal relationships across the charity to ensure the delivery of CHN’s obligations to our funders 
• Represent CHN at events and networking opportunities as required 

Events 

• Create plan and oversee and work events with the help of a Fundraising/Community Engagement Assistant 
• Line manage Fundraising/Community Engagement Assistant. 

General 

• Manage and provide relevant training for the Fundraising/Event Assistant/Officer 
• Work with the Marcomms Manager and the finance team on the annual fundraising planning process to produce effective budgets and strategies to achieve income targets across all revenue streams 
• Create and manage the community engagement strategy and annual plan to maintain and further raise the profile of the charity while protecting brand by acting as the ‘brand guardian’ 
• Ensure that all activity is compliant with policies and procedures 
• Actively keep current with trends in fundraising

Person Specification: 

• Proven track record in developing and implementing successful fundraising strategies and campaigns, ideally with at least 3 years experience in the charity sector or demonstrate they have transferrable skills to move into the charity sector. 
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as the necessary with the nature of the job. 
• Demonstrated ability to raise substantial fundraised income and achieve targets 
• Effective stakeholder management skills, both internally and externally, previous experience of managing client relationships 
• Experience in budget management, reporting, and forecasting 
• Proficient research and project management skills 
• Strong organisation and communication skills, both verbal and written, to influence, motivate, and persuade donors 
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and CRMs

Community Fundraising and Communications Engagement Assistant

£22,500 to £26,000 (FTE dependent on experience). Responsible to the Fundraising Manager and Marcomms Manager. Two days per week (worked over three days if preferable. Based at Jecca’s House

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the creation, planning, setting up and working at fundraising and community awareness events 
• Face to face community work in the form of hosting coffee mornings and fundraising/engagement events 
• Face to face collection of raffle prizes etc within our communities 
• Poster erection and flyer distribution 
• Recording data from events 
• Work closely with both managers in the MARCOMMS team 

MARCOMMS/Fundraising – General 

• To help the Fundraising Manager deliver a continuous fundraising operation to meet the short, medium and long-term revenue needs of the charity as determined by the CEO and Board of Trustees

• Design posters, tickets and flyers on CANVA or a similar design tool for events 
• Help with the community engagement strategy and annual plan to maintain and further raise the profile of the charity while protecting brand by acting as the ‘brand guardian’

• Actively keep current with trends in fundraising 

Person Specification 

• You will be highly organised, used to working in a fast-paced and autonomous environment and need to be able to plan ahead. 
• You will be proactive, flexible, creative, resilient and able to plan ahead.
• Flexibility is key as this role will require evening and weekend work, time will be given in lieu for hours worked in this situation 
• Computer literate as there will be database and design tools such as Canva to use 
• A team player as you will work with the Fundraising Manager and Communications Manager. Prioritisation is second nature.
• You will be confident using social media, and objective and flexible in the way you use the tools and platforms available. 
• Experience using CRMs is desirable but not essential. 
• This role can be physical – the successful candidate will be involved in setting up and closing of events which may entail some heavy moving and carrying. 

Experience

We are an ambitious, dynamic and impactful charity. Following their sons’ diagnosis of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), Emily Reuben and Alex Johnson founded Duchenne UK in 2012. 

DMD is a devastating progressive condition diagnosed in early childhood which causes all the muscles in the body to gradually weaken. There are currently only very limited treatment options for DMD, so Emily and Alex set up Duchenne UK to change this. 

Since 2012, we have raised more than £27 million to end the devastating impact of DMD.  We fund ground-breaking scientific research to find effective treatments. We’ve developed the infrastructure of DMD clinical trial delivery in the UK. We engage industry and regulators to accelerate access to treatments. And we’re here to support every family affected and ensure that they receive the best possible care. We aim not only to improve quality of live but stop the disease in its tracks. We’re doing it faster too, because this generation of patients can’t wait.

Alex and Emily were awarded OBEs in The King’s Birthday Honours List in 2023 in recognition of their services to charity and to people living with DMD. They, and the dedicated and effective team they have built at Duchenne UK, are now at the forefront of this work in the UK.

This is an all-encompassing role for an accomplished and confident Personal Assistant to support the Founders and Director of Research of an innovative and ambitious charity and oversee the management of the Duchenne UK office.

The successful candidate will be highly organised with strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships with a wide variety of individuals, internally and externally. Job Description:

 Duties to include, but not limited to:

• High volume diary management, including work and personal diary prioritisation and filtering out non-essential meetings.

The Role 
 
As our Deputy Shop Manager you will be responsible for setting up our brand-new shop in Hull, supporting the Shop Manager in implementing processes and ways of working.

• Play an active part in running our shop in Hull, supporting the Shop Manager in implementing processes and ways of working.

• Provide cover for days off, holidays and sickness as required, with possible occasional travel to other shops to provide support if needed by the charity. 

• Support the Shop Manager to maximise the income and profit of the shop through active stock management, replenishment, and rotation. 

• Manage a team of well-trained volunteers in the absence of the Shop Manager and take every effort to create a happy retail environment. 

• Support the Shop Manager to ensure accurate accounting and handling of assets (items donated and money received). 

• Support the Shop Manager to ensure accurate record keeping of items donated and the amount paid for each item for Gift Aid tax reclaim purposes.

The latest research suggesting that the number of children and young people at risk of hunger has rocketed to three million means that one in five children don't have enough to eat.   

When a child is too hungry to learn, when they’re aching for something to eat, they can’t concentrate. They can’t absorb information. Big feelings and worries can be impossible to control. They fall behind in their studies.  

Magic Breakfast provide a nutritious and filling breakfast to over 200,000 children and young people every school day. We work with schools in areas of high disadvantage, helping staff target the children most in need without barrier or stigma.   

Magic Breakfast are ambitious to grow our impact in order to remove hunger as a barrier to learning for all children and young people in the UK. To do this, we need to continue to grow our fundraised income, of which new corporate income is a significant element.

JOB INFORMATION

We are seeking candidates who are after the next step in their fundraising journey. You will already have strong credentials and be ready to start your journey into Partnership Management which will include leading in delivering the new business plan and working closely with colleagues in the Partnership Development team and across the organisation to identify, create and secure new strategic, multi-year corporate partnerships 

You’ll be ambitious to take the next step and we are on hand to support and offer you training and a positive working environment to allow you to gain confidence and knowledge in the role at a steady pace.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Building a pipeline that reflects Magic Breakfast’s restricted and unrestricted funding needs, including Gift in Kind requirements, working with the Partnership Research Executive to research and identify prospects with potential.  
• Making use of multiple tactics to secure meetings with prospects including, for example, cold calling, emailing, running events, event networking and social selling on platforms like LinkedIn.
• Ensuring that risk-screening and due diligence processes have been completed in line with Magic Breakfast’s Ethical Fundraising and Due Diligence policies. 
• Understanding each prospect’s strategic interests through meetings, discussions and research and defining the mutual advantage in partnership. 
• Developing and delivering engaging, relevant and impactful pitches and written proposals to prospective partners.

The Development Manager (Individual Giving) will manage the strategic development of Individual Giving, identifying opportunities to drive growth in this area. • Proactively manage a personal portfolio of prospects and donors to secure mid- and major-level gifts from Individuals, ensuring that tailored moves management strategies are employed to meaningfully move relationships towards solicitation.

The Development Manager (Trust and Foundations) will manage the strategic development of Trusts and Foundations fundraising, identifying opportunities to drive growth in this area. The post-holder will oversee income generation from grant-making organisations and ensure timely reporting to funders.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate the following essential requirements:

• Drive growth of Trusts and Foundations income especially at the five- and six-figure level, with a particular view to supporting unrestricted income and major projects in the organisation’s pipeline.
• Proactively manage a personal portfolio of Trusts and Foundations, regularly meeting and engaging with prospective funders to pitch proposals and check-in around expectations. 
• Liaise with key internal stakeholders to develop accurate, compelling funding applications in line with deadlines set by funders. 
• Build lasting relationships with funders in order to establish opportunities for multi-year income generation.
• Drive the Trusts and Foundations prospecting process and increase the range of prospects approached for support, utilising prospect research tools and securing introductions from our network.

The Thomson Reuters Foundation (TRF) is the corporate foundation of Thomson Reuters, the global news and information services company. As an independent charity we work to advance media freedom, foster more inclusive economies, and promote human rights. We combine our unique media development and legal services to drive systemic change through news, capacity strengthening, free legal assistance, and convening initiatives.

TRF provides a Secretariat function to the Media Freedom Coalition (MFC). The MFC is a partnership of 50 countries from six continents working together to advocate for media freedom and the safety of journalists at home and abroad. The MFC works closely with civil society and a panel of legal experts, among others, to promote media freedom through a range of activities – including public and private diplomacy to support journalists at risk, coordinated action through embassies, events and the promotion of legal reforms. The MFC was established in 2019 while the Secretariat was established in 2022. More information about the MFC can be found here.

The MFC Secretariat plays a central role in maximising the impact of the Coalition. It does this in four areas:

• Administration and operations: delivering specific activities including events and briefings; supporting and coordinating responses to cases of concern (in which journalists and news organisations are facing threats to their reporting); supporting embassies to act on media freedom; organizing meetings and maintaining the MFC’s network of contacts;

• Communications: communicating the MFC’s activities and impact externally, via website, social media and mainstream media coverage; supporting public-facing events; keeping the MFC’s network informed about activities and opportunities to take action;

• Policies and strategy: ensuring policies and processes are in place to facilitate an efficient, effective and responsive coalition; supporting strategic decision making; monitoring the latest developments in the media freedom context;

• Monitoring and evaluation: tracking and understanding the MFC’s outcomes and impact, and learning lessons from this. 

The Secretariat is supported by grants from Global Affairs Canada and the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office.

We are seeking a creative and resourceful Communications Manager to join our team. You will lead on the Secretariat’s communications function, both internally and externally, and will implement (and potentially improve on) our existing communications strategy. For the MFC, effective communications are not only about demonstrating the Coalition’s impact, they are also a way of encouraging and inspiring MFC member countries and their embassies to take action on media freedom. This means the Coalition’s communications are an essential component of its pathway to impact.

You will be required to engage with government representatives, diplomats, NGO leaders and some of the world’s finest legal practitioners as part of this role. You will look across the Coalition’s work and develop relationships with member countries and their embassies to identify human-centred stories that showcase the MFC’s work. The ideal candidate will be skilled at turning issues into stories and comfortable with taking the initiative and taking ownership of this area of the Secretariat’s work.

The role is based in Canary Wharf in London. The role is full time and you would be expected to attend TRF’s offices two or more days per week.

This is a 21-month fixed-term contract, starting 1 July 2024 or earlier, depending on availability. The contract may be extended beyond March 2026, conditional on further funds being secured for the Secretariat’s continued operation.

Some travel is anticipated as part of this role.

About The Role

As the Communications Manager you will:

• Research, develop, edit and write communications materials including impact stories and case studies for the MFC’s website and potentially other platforms, using multimedia options where appropriate

• Lead on the implementation of the MFC’s communications strategy, potentially making improvements to this, and tracking key performance indicators accordingly

• Manage the MFC’s website and social media channels (currently focused on Twitter/X) and monitor analytics/produce reports; manage upgrades to the MFC website in collaboration with TRF colleagues

• Curate and produce the MFC’s monthly network newsletter, which is sent to all MFC members and stakeholders

• Organise MFC events, online or in-person, and secure engaging speakers to feature in them

• Plan the MFC’s communications activities, taking account of communications opportunities such as anniversaries and international days

• Promote and maximise the impact of joint statements by MFC member countries, and monitor their impact

• Produce resources for member governments and their embassies, helping them to communicate on key media freedom issues

• Build relationships with media freedom organisations and networks to ensure wider communications reach and opportunities to collaborate

• Identify opportunities to feature the MFC within national/regional/international media as appropriate and build relationships to facilitate this

• Organise events (online or in-person) in collaboration with other members of the team, including developing content, finding speakers, and event coordination

About You

To be our Communications Manager, you will likely have:

• Solid experience in a communications role, producing communications outputs as part of a communications strategy

• Ability to write clear, concise and engaging copy with excellent attention to detail

• A diplomatic approach, including the ability to see issues from others’ perspectives and to spot and mitigate potential risks

• Ability to forge trusted relations with a wide range of cross-sector stakeholders

• Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines

• Fluency in English; other languages desirable but not necessary

It would be useful if you also have:

• Understanding of, or interest in, media freedom issues

• Experience of working with government officials (at any level)

• Experience working effectively as part of a remote team on collaborative initiatives

This role is a new and important addition to the charity as we drive forward future developments, helping to brighten the lives of children throughout the city. As the Trust Fundraiser, you will be an essential member of the fundraising team, playing a pivotal role in identifying and capitalising on grant opportunities that will contribute to significant growth and long-term sustainability for the charity. This includes cultivating and managing a pipeline of potential funders, as well as staying alert about the external environment to identify new funding opportunities that align with the Charity’s mission and strategic priorities.

The charity has exciting projects, developments, and plans, and Trusts and Foundations will play a crucial role in achieving these objectives. The successful candidate will need to expertly manage the Grants and Trusts Management life cycle to meet predetermined fundraising income targets.
