Disability Advice Service Lambeth (dasl) is Lambeth’s peer-led Disabled People’s Organisation. 

You will lead a two-year project contributing to the work of the No Wrong Door partnership – local organisations and local residents working together to ensure there is ‘No Wrong Door’ for Black Disabled people seeking employment, as they can expect excellent support from any organisation. 

We want to change the system, influencing employment support providers and their Commissioners to ensure support for Black Disabled people who are seeking employment is appropriate, accessible and inclusive.

You will have excellent project management skills and use your lived, personal experience of race and disability equity issues to implement change, working collaboratively with residents (Lived Experience Leads), partner organisations and employment support providers. Your role will involve working primarily with Black Disabled Lambeth residents. You will understand and encounter the intersections between being Black and Disabled and the barriers to employment and be able to demonstrate creative and people-centred approaches to influencing change.

Since 2003, we have been harnessing the power of skiing & snowboarding to break down barriers, broaden horizons and address the biggest social issues facing underserved young people today.

The Programme Manager will deliver a personal development journey to young people using snowsports as the hook to engage those who are less likely to engage with mainstream provision. We do this in partnership with youth projects and youth service providers across London, running snowsports youth programmes from The Snow Centre, Hemel Hempstead.

This is a really exciting opportunity to play a key role in Snow Camp’s development in London. Working in partnership with the London Borough of Newham and East London Foundation Trust, IBIS House supports people who are medically fit for discharge from mental health inpatient stays but have other barriers to discharge. These may include housing, living skills, accessing benefits or the community, or other interventions and will be on a person-centred basis. The main aim of the service is to provide short-term support to customers to link with longer-term services to reduce escalations in need, and reduce inpatient readmission and reduce pressure on inpatient beds.

What you'll do:

* Assessing referrals received by the service, within the 4-hour target, and providing rapid response to these.
* Inducting new customers, and helping orient them to the community and local area
* Completing/supporting housing referrals as required, supporting customers with budgeting tools and providing support to customers in accessing any benefits or addressing any issues such as benefits.
* Building a relationship with the local borough and any key agencies. For example: no recourse to public funds teams, homelessness teams, community mental health teams etc.
* Support planning, including ward management liaison, medication profiles and medication reviews as required, identifying the goals and steps to support customers to manage their own support and risk and ensuring these are correctly documented within Look Ahead's paperwork.

In recent years violent crime has risen significantly. Homicides, assaults, robberies and offences involving weapons have all seen sustained growth. We have also seen large increases in violent crime involving children and young people. This is a tragedy. Every child captured in these numbers is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them. 

The Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) is a charity with a £200m endowment and a mission that matters. We exist to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by funding great initiatives, finding what works and working for change – scaling up and spreading the practices that make a difference.

This role and why it’s important 

It's critical to our mission that we understand how and why young people become involved in violence. The YEF’s work combines conducting rigorous evaluations and research studies with hearing directly from young people. It is also important to us that young people are central to the messages we share externally.

Your role involves ensuring that young people’s perspectives are heard and integrated into our work. This includes supporting our Youth Advisory Board (YAB) and helping young people’s voices play a central part in YEFs external communications.

This role also supports the wider team managing grants, contracts and providing general team support.

Key responsibilities: 

1. Youth Advisory Board support: 

• Plan engaging activities for YAB meetings and events. These activities require working some evenings and occasional weekends. 

• Provide support and pastoral care to YAB members, including personal development planning and safeguarding.

• Help recruit YAB members (young people aged 16 –25) through interviews and managing recruitment. 

• Develop and schedule the YAB induction programme for new members. 

• Monitor attendance and engagement of YAB members. 

• Coordinate YAB attendance at external events. 

2. Facilitating Youth Voice in communications: 

• Act as a bridge between the YAB and our external communications team. 

• Work with the communications team to amplify young people's voices on social media. 

• Assist young people in sharing their views and stories through various communication methods. 

3. Managing grants and contracts: 

• Maintain records of payments and tasks using Salesforce. 

• Assist stakeholders and team members in using Salesforce effectively. 

• Support in procurement processes and grant management by organising documents and scheduling meetings. 

• Proactively identify and address issues. 

4. Collaboration and support: 

• Work closely with other roles (including our Operations and Culture team) within YEF to ensure coordinated efforts and sharing of best practices.

• In this role, you will provide direct support to all the women, as well as holding a small case load of residents who you will keywork. 
• You will work closely with support workers and the in-house psychologist.
• You will model person-led, psychological, gender, and culturally informed support, will be skilled at building trust and you will be a great team player.
• The post holder will undertake 8-hour shifts, normally Monday to Friday but with flexibility for weekend working, covering the hours 8am to 8pm. This is a 1 year fixed term contract.

You will guide and signpost the young person to the relevant statutory and non statutory services and will be key in motivating and coaching the young person to develop independent living skills.

You will be working with children and families to provide trauma informed support with the aim of reducing trauma symptoms and rebuild relationships.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY

To work with children (aged 5 – 16) and their families to provide trauma informed support with the aim of reducing trauma symptoms, rebuilding relationships fractured by domestic abuse and helping the non-abusive parent to understand the impact of domestic abuse on their children so they are better able to support them.

DIRECT WORK WITH CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES

• To understand and assess the needs of children and families and devise a child-focused support plan
• To utilise evidence-based approaches to strengthen attachments and rebuilt relationships with the non-abusive parent that have been fractured as a result of domestic abuse
• To utilise trauma informed ways of working to reduce trauma symptoms and distress in children
• To work with families in order increase stability and reduce risk 5
• To assist the non-abusive parent / carer in their understanding of the impact of domestic abuse so that they can respond appropriately to the emotional needs of the children
• To attend and initiate mutli-agency meetings where required
• To ensure that children and families receive holistic support that is appropriate to their needs, including advocacy and referring to other services
• To deliver programmes of child-focused group work
• To understand risk and safeguarding issues and act appropriately in relation to risk at all times.
• To work within national, county and ESDAS guidelines, particularly in relation to good practice regarding children
• To provide written reports and case studies to senior management as and when required.

You will receive support and training and a competitive starting salary of £20,000 for a 28 hour week. Reduced hours may be possible by agreement. This is a two-year fixed term post with the possibility of becoming permanent after two years.

We are looking for someone who will work with professionalism, empathy and kindness, have knowledge of working with children and families who have experienced trauma due to abuse and have a trauma informed, child focused approach. Experience of working with complex family situations where there are safeguarding concerns with the ability to assess risk is required.

You will be based at our office in Redhill and you must be able to reliably commute to the office.

About us: Tender is an arts charity working with children and young people to prevent domestic abuse and sexual violence through creative projects. Since 2003, Tender’s work has grown and diversified from a single workshop programme delivered to schools, into a broader range of programmes reaching both children and young people and professionals with a safeguarding responsibility such as teachers, youth workers, social care workers and foster carers. Tender’s programmes include Healthy Relationships projects delivered across England, projects delivered using online resources and technology, specialist projects for vulnerable children and young people, whole school and whole setting approaches, and training for professionals with safeguarding responsibility and in workplaces.

About the role: We now have a need for a coordinator to work closely with the whole development team (comprising a Development Director, Development Manager, Development Officer, Major Donor Consultant and the CEO) in coordinating all aspects of our fundraising work, from identifying prospects, creating compelling funding applications through to successfully managing relationships with funders.
