We’re looking for a social media professional with strong customer service skills to support our goal to make every supporter feel valued and loved by the RNLI, as well as helping to achieve ambitious fundraising targets, protect the RNLI’s reputation, and deliver lifesaving safety messages to the public as we build up to celebrating our 200th birthday in 2024.
We are a 24/7 emergency service. You will be required to take part in an online community management rota, which includes some evenings and weekends (with time off in lieu during the week).

Your role
As a Social Media Executive, your focus will be to…
- Deliver first class customer service to supporters, volunteers and members of the public who engage with the RNLI on social media
- Create, curate and schedule engaging content for our social media channels
- Be alert and responsive to the news agenda, keeping abreast of issues affecting the RNLI and identifying PR opportunities and trends on social media that we can engage with
- Provide support during crisis and major issues response
About you
You’ll be experienced and comfortable communicating with the public and customers/supporters via social media, ideally in the charity sector or similar large organisation.
You will be able to demonstrate the skill required to nurture an online community, and provide an excellent customer/supporter experience.

The Role
This is an exciting and pivotal new role, with huge scope and freedom to increase our reach and promote our dynamic, unique charity in a direct and rewarding way.
Your first job will be to draft our Social Media and Creative Communications Plan, setting out the key opportunities, milestones and targets for the next few years.
You’ll be responsible for developing our brand presence across multiple social media platforms. You’ll manage authentic, highly-engaging campaigns that delight our community, creating emotional connections and delivering results.
An all-rounder with the ability to see social media and communication plans through from inception to delivery, you’ll be adept at creating and editing digital media as well as analysing their performance.

Under the leadership of the Digital Marketing Lead, working alongside the Creative Content Officer and with the support of the Communications Officer, you’ll deliver the workplans to the Digital Marketing strategy, develop and deliver all Born Free’s social media communications, including – but not limited to – fundraising appeals, adoption stories, stories from the field, including conservation and animal rescue and relocation, and news stories from the policy team.
You will have the incredible opportunity to translate our powerful narrative, outstanding achievements, and ambitious plans to all touchpoints on social, working directly with our programmatic and marketing teams and the Co-Founder. You'll build and grow our engagement and conversions by tailoring content to our different audiences.
Working alongside our external agency and the Digital Marketing Lead, you will also be proactively engaged in our paid social activity.
The Social Media Officer will need to have the energy and hands-on attitude to thrive in a lean, fast-paced environment with strong focus on outstanding content, accuracy and performance. - Ensure content is adapted / suitable for specific channels / audiences
- Monitor, track, analyse and report on performance on social media platforms using tools such as Sprout Social, Google Analytics and Facebook Insights and recommend improvements to increase performance.
- Identify consumer trends to help with planning social media campaigns.
- Optimise content to further encourage community interaction and engagement.

Line Manager: Digital Communications Lead
Your responsibilities will include:
Social media delivery and community management
- Plan and deliver inspiring and effective social media content, including as part of engagement campaigns, fundraising appeals and initiative launches, and in support of our partners and members.
- Produce text- and video-/graphic-based social media posts and campaigns that are both suited to our target audiences and adapted for the most appropriate social channels.
- Carry out community management across the charity's digital channels, triaging queries and drafting responses.
- Assist with the optimisation of Rewilding Britain's current social media channels and the identification of new opportunities/platforms/trends that would help further our mission.
Email communications
- Support the Communications and Engagement team with the planning, building and scheduling of email communications (campaigns, supporters, fundraising, corporate partners etc) within Mailchimp.
- Assist with the AB testing of our email marketing and executing a plan of continuous improvement for our emails.
- Support with managing our enquiry inboxes as and when required.
Reporting and optimising
- Collate statistics on the performance of our social and email channels, in line with our KPIs, and work closely with the Digital Communications Lead to make ongoing recommendations for our output.
- Implement feedback and lessons learned to refine and improve our social media approach.
- Stay current with sector and specialist trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to continuously grow the effectiveness of our channels, particularly social media.
Communications support
- Take responsibility for triaging internal requests for content output across our channels and coordinate this across the Communications and Engagement team.
- Assist the team in keeping our image library up to date, by uploading and tagging new imagery.

Terms and conditions and staff benefits
The role is a full-time, 5-day-week (35 hours) position.
The salary is £23,000 - £27,000 per annum depending upon experience.
There will be some freedom for the person to determine their own working arrangements each week, within limitations, providing the work is delivered.
Rewilding Britain employees benefit from 25 days annual leave per year (pro rata for part time roles), rising to 30 days over 5 years. A generous employer-matched pension scheme is also available.

Who are we looking for?

As part of our mission to empower people affected by homelessness and poverty, the role will work to harness the potential of multimedia content to demonstrate the breadth of our activities and impact, but also raise the voices of people who have experienced homelessness
The role will be instrumental in the implementation of an evolved Emmaus brand language and visuals across websites, social media and other digital channels, and will work to embed measurement and monitoring processes to grow our reach.
Working with the National Communications Manager, the role will be central to the delivery of communications, fundraising and influence objectives with a strategic focus, while being hands-on in delivering standout content.

Emmaus UK is looking for a team player who will lead our digital activities to shout louder about the transformative work of Emmaus UK and the wider Emmaus federation, by engaging existing audiences through powerful storytelling..
What we offer
· £37,878 pro rata (based on a standard working week of 37.5 hours)
· Working hours: 4 or 5 days a week, Monday to Friday
· Contract: Permanent
