The Lead Instructor Role:

We’re looking for someone to join our team who is just as passionate as we are about getting young people outdoors to have an adventure as we are.

We are looking for someone with the knowledge, experience and qualifications in Watersports and the below are essential for this role.

• Paddlesport Minimum one of: Canoe/ Kayak Sheltered Water Coach, Touring Leader, Paddlesport Leader
• We would consider someone who holds: Sailing Instructor and Powerboat Instructor award alongside a lower paddlesports qualification with the view to upskill the paddlesport award as soon as possible
• Desirable: PB2, Dinghy Instructor, or sailing experience

Key responsibilities as our Lead Instructor:

• Coaching, mentoring and pastoral supervision of the instructing team
• Maintaining accurate records of staff training, assessment and competency, equipment and activity facilities, operating procedures and risk assessments
• Assisting with the creation of group programmes and staff timetables
• Ensuring relevant checks, processes and paperwork are maintained to meet external and internal accreditation standards - including management of equipment and PPE
• Delivering adventurous activity, and training to internal and external clients
• Monitoring the safety and quality of activity sessions
• Assisting other staff, including taking bookings, checking in/out groups and liaising with guests
• As a youth focused organisation, applicants agree to comply at all times with the safeguarding rules including vetting and Basic/Enhanced DBS checks

About this exciting opportunity

As Trainer Assessor, you will liaise with St Giles staff and external partner organisations to identify and engage learners with the relevant skills, motivation and aptitude, before interviewing applicants, assessing learning and other needs and carrying out risk assessments. You will then work with learners to produce realistic individual learning plans, before providing a comprehensive induction and continual one-to-one support.

This support will include planning and delivering a training programme that will lead to the achievement of Level 3 Certificate in Advice and Guidance, where you will assess and support learners through the qualification and monitor their progress towards timely completion and certification. Developing and maintaining the range of work placement opportunities, matching learners to placements and ensuring positive relationships with placements providers is a key aspect of this role, as is attending internal and external meetings and best practice seminars and undertaking all the administration necessary for tracking learner progress.

Advice Giving

• Deliver advice and information to clients, ensuring advice provided meets the requirements of Citizens Advice quality standards

About us

Citizens Advice Liverpool (CAL) are being funded by Nat West Group to provide general advice by telephone for customers seeking this help. This general advice is confidential and independent of the Nat West (Banking) Group.

The post holder would be based at their RBS office for 4 days between the hours of 9am -5pm, providing telephone advice, and there would be 1 day based at a CAL office for writing up notes and any follow up work.

Where it is not possible for the SSO to work at the RBS office, the SSO would work at home or a CAL office, again providing telephone advice for these customers.

The role will look after our Young Health Programme (YHP), which is Plan International UK’s largest corporate funded programme. The YHP is a complex multi-country multi-million public health programme and is currently implemented in 8 countries, supporting the health rights and wellbeing of young people (10-24) in marginalised communities with a specific focus on the prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). This gender-transformative programme uses a range of strategies including youth empowerment through peer education, community mobilisation, health system strengthening and youth-led advocacy. The YHP takes a holistic approach to working with young people which means that Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and emotional well-being health are addressed and mainstreamed throughout the programme.

This role is a great opportunity for individuals with proven programme management experience, particularly in public health initiatives. As a Senior Programme Management Specialist, you will be responsible for leading and supporting a team of two programme specialists and a programme coordinator to provide specialist support to Country Offices and partners on programme management. You will have responsibility from project design to project closure while also managing and escalating risks.

Your role will be essential in ensuring clear communication, compliance, and problem-solving within the team as well as with external partners. You will be facilitating regular meetings with donors regarding programme management, technical queries, compliance, and reporting.  Expertise in public health issues, especially NCDs, peer education, and adolescent health will be considered as advantageous. 

Ideal candidates will have a degree or equivalent qualification in international development or a related field and will be able to motivate and develop a team of diverse professionals. Job Role: To promote the Forces Employment Charity and Veteran Support Programme across the UK and provide employability and employment support for veterans in order that they find appropriate sustainable employment, or other Preferred Vocational Outcome.

Principal Responsibilities:
​

• Provide advice and guidance to support veterans into employment.
• Develop links with local and regional businesses and business forums to develop relationships with Corporate Mentors and to provide enhanced local level employment opportunities, working collaboratively with Employer Relationship Managers (ERMs).
• Facilitate veterans to access suitable training courses.
• Post and maintain an exemplar professional LinkedIn profile and engage with appropriate content from FEC and partner organisations.
• Link with local and regional Ex-Armed Forces support agencies initiatives to create a flow of veterans requiring employment support. This will include as a minimum creating working relationships with Armed Forces Charities and DWP and regional Armed Forces Champions (including Armed Forces Covenant groups).

• Attend all CTP Employment Fairs in your region as an exhibitor. Publicise the role of FEC in supporting veteran employment.

You will also be expected to deliver additional tailored sessions to individuals who are unable to attend the group sessions or require additional support and to use a trauma-informed approach to build trust and create a safe space for people in prison to explore challenging and potentially traumatic issues and topics.

What we are looking for

• Personal experience of the social care system; criminal justice system; or lived experience of the issues facing this client group. However, we also encourage applications from those without lived experience.
• The ability to build positive relationships with people in prison and be comfortable and confident working in the prison environment.
• A professionally competent approach and confidence facilitating group sessions, as well as being able to tailor the support given to meet the needs of people in prison.

Shannon Trust are delighted to be working with His Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS) to provide peer-led literacy across a number of prisons. We now have the opportunity to provide a service at HMP Foston Hall (subject to contract award). Working closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will lead the delivery and development of our literacy programme at HMP Foston Hall, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read.

Ideally you will have some experience of prison settings underpinned by the ability to build relationships and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach.

This role will be prison-based. Building relationships with other statutory and non-statutory agencies in local communities is vital to build referral pathways and provide a whole system approach to supporting individuals.

To carry out this work you will meet women in the community in your designated borough and co-locate with other agencies including the National Probation Service, as well as regularly attending Advance’s North London vibrant Women’s Centre/office space.

You will be a creative self-starter who will support the service and look for innovative solutions to support clients with complex needs. You are confident professional relationship builder and has good awareness of Safeguarding procedures. Strong Administration skills and understanding of compliant behaviours also experience of supporting. With good knowledge of the criminal justice system and awareness of other support provisions.
