We are looking to recruit a dynamic person for the role of Charity Manager, who will develop and shape our charity for the future. You will lead our dedicated team and have overall responsibility for running the Charity.
You will manage the Charity on behalf of the Trustees, co-ordinate a team of seven staff, support volunteers, ensure excellent standards of animal care are maintained and develop our fundraising and community engagement work. You will also be responsible for budgeting, compliance, health and Safety ensuring the charity is safe, welcoming and well run.
You will work on behalf of the Board of Trustees to develop a coherent strategic business plan, reporting regularly on operations and planned objectives.

The Role
As our Head of Fundraising & Business Development, you will lead efforts to secure and diversify funding, building a sustainable resource base to support our global mission.
Leading the Fundraising and Business Development Team, you will drive the implementation of our resource mobilisation strategy, focusing on increasing non-ODA income and expanding flexible and programmatic funding.
Working closely with colleagues across fundraising, finance, research and impact teams, you will help close funding gaps by developing strong donor relationships, negotiating funding agreements and shaping compelling funding propositions.
Alongside collaborating with the Director of Fundraising and Communications and supporting engagement with the Board of Trustees, you will manage systems, data and internal processes that strengthen fundraising performance and ensure effective delivery.
Additionally, you will:
- Gather and share intelligence on trends within the funding landscape
- Generate new fundraising ideas and opportunities with existing and new funders
- Support teams to develop fundraising plans, donor scoping and funding bids
- Analyse data to inform fundraising strategies and income generation
- Design and manage internal fundraising support processes and systems
- Oversee the team budget and support staff development and wellbeing
About You
To be considered as our Head of Fundraising & Business Development, you will need:
- Significant experience leading fundraising functions in an international NGO or charity
- A proven, impressive track record in fundraising
- Experience in partnership and consortium development
- Management experience with the ability to co-ordinate, support, motivate, energise and develop diverse teams
- The ability to design and deliver income-generation strategies across multiple streams
- A strong understanding of the evolving landscape of finance and resource mobilisation for sustainable development
- A strong understanding of policy and research related to sustainable development at an international level, particularly related to Africa, Asia and/or Latin America
- Strong influencing, negotiating, stakeholder engagement and diplomacy skills
- A degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent work experience
- The willingness and ability to travel internationally

Support for and implementation of the Branch’s strategic and service delivery plans
- Supports the Branch Director and Board of Trustees to ensure that the charity meets its governance responsibilities.
- Supports the development and delivery of the Branch Management team’s strategic and service delivery plans in pursuit of the vision, mission, and values of Samaritans and to meet Central London Samaritan’s objectives.
- Supports the development and delivery of a successful fundraising strategy that supports the organisation’s goals and contributes to its sustainability.
- Supports the Treasurer in the management of Central London Samaritans budget to ensure financial resilience.
- Contributes to the development of external and internal relationships and communications, raising the profile and reputation of CLS in support of the organisation’s charitable aims.

Main Responsibilities:
Governance
- Support the Director and Board of Trustees to ensure that the charity meets its governance responsibilities.
- Ensure appropriate presentation and reporting on the progress of the organisation and on all matters relevant to the discharge of its charitable responsibilities.
- Provide in a timely and appropriate manner information that will assist the Trustees in carrying out their responsibilities.
- Monitor changes to statutory requirements on behalf of and in consultation with the Trustees and working with the Trustees and Directors to ensure compliance.
- Lead on all areas of Data Protection across the branch including policy development, revision, and implementation.
Financial Management & Fundraising
- Support the Treasurer in the preparation of the annual operating budget for agreement by Trustees.
- Manage the budget on behalf of and in consultation with the Director, Treasurer and Trustees
- In consultation with the Treasurer and other trustees, set an annual fundraising target.
- Support the development and implementation of a strategy for raising income to meet the needs of the organisation.
- Manage project and area budgets with relevant staff and volunteer leads.
Support for and implementation of the Branch’s strategic and service delivery plans
Support the Director and wider Branch Leadership Team in setting the culture and vision for the organisation that will enable staff and volunteers to understand what is expected of them and perform to the highest standards.
- Work closely with the Director and Branch Leadership team to deliver branch strategy and specific services.
- In conjunction with volunteer leads, manage the delivery of the organisation’s restricted funded programmes ensuring project milestones, timescales and financial imperatives are fully met and supporting growth in line with the organisation’s charitable aims.
- Work with the Governance Working Group to implement and manage the organisation’s operational policies and procedures.
- Input into to research and planning of new branch initiatives.
- Monitor changes to national Samaritans policies and guidelines, alerting Directors, and Trustees as appropriate
Line Management
- Work with Trustees and Directors to support the Branch Team to deliver the branch’s volunteering, outreach and fund-raising strategies
- Provide effective line management and leadership to the staff team by managing all aspects of staffing, including recruitment, setting objectives and managing performance.
- Line manage the Business Support Officer, Volunteering Coordinator, Recruitment and Training Coordinator and Fundraising and Events Officer, Trusts and Foundatons Officer and other roles that may from time to time be established
- Act as a role model to staff and colleagues by demonstrating exemplary standards of behaviour, a positive attitude, and high levels of personal performance.
- Identify and develop talent within the team that can be fostered, offering opportunities for personal and career growth where appropriate.
- Work with the Branch Leadership Team to support all staff activities.
Communications
- Work with the Director and Deputy Director for Communications and relevant staff members to support delivery of the branch Communications Plan. This will include coordinating internal and external communications as well as maintaining good relationships with volunteers, partners and other Samaritans branches and the Samaritans Charity.
- Maintain relationships with the Samaritans Central Charity in relation to media activity.
- Work with Director to ensure the Branch is represented on suicide prevention partnerships and involved in strategies with local councils and other organisations within the seven boroughs covered by the branch.
- Work with Branch Leadership Team to ensure the Branch is appropriately represented the branch at external events.
Facilities and Office Management
- Oversees the management of the building on behalf of and in consultation with the Trustees and the Office Manager
- Take overall responsibility for the contracting of services to the organisation
- Take responsibility for compliance with Health and Safety Regulations
Hours of work
1. The basic hours of work are 35 hours per week, spread over five working days. There will be a need to work some evenings and weekend days, so flexibility is essential. The core responsibilities and duties should be carried out during weekdays.
2. The amount of out of hours work will be agreed with the Director on an on-going basis. Time off in lieu will be allowed in agreement with the Director and in line with the current European Working Time Directive.

About Chorlton Good Neighbours
Chorlton Good Neighbours is a small, well-loved neighbourhood charity with roots back to the late 1960s, working to reduce loneliness and support older people across Chorlton and adjacent neighbourhoods. Our work is local, practical and volunteer-led: befriending, home visits, transport, weekly activities, monthly teas, intergenerational groups and occasional day trips are all delivered with warmth and care.
Our volunteer base is extraordinary - around 100 volunteers support drivers, befrienders, activity leads, admin roles and trustees - and in 2024–25 we supported 474 people in total. Funding is a mixed model of public grants, local donations and modest earned income and the charity holds healthy funds to deliver our work.
This is a practical, hands-on, delivery-focused leadership role: you will lead a neighbourhood organisation through planned transition, preserving the community culture that makes CGN trusted, while introducing proportionate systems and succession approaches that secure its future. You will also spend substantial time supporting and supervising volunteers and facilitating activities alongside strategic duties.
As our next Manager (Chief Executive), you will:
• Strategy & Impact: Lead the development and delivery of a clear long-term strategy that sustains CGN’s neighbourhood impact and reduces social isolation amongst older people.
• Governance & Finance: Strengthen proportionate financial controls, grant monitoring and reporting while working closely with trustees including the Treasurer.
• Operational Leadership: Manage day-to-day delivery of volunteer-led services and introduce accessible procedures and safeguarding arrangements.

Who you are
• An experienced, hands-on manager with significant experience of running small, community-facing charities or local services and a hands-on approach to operational delivery.
• Demonstrable expertise in recruiting, supporting and retaining volunteers, with confidence in DBS/safeguarding practice and volunteer supervision.
• Highly organised with strong event/activity planning skills, practical problem solving and attention to detail.
• Financially literate - comfortable with budgeting, grant monitoring and basic financial controls and able to work with volunteer finance leads.
• An excellent communicator: approachable, diplomatic and skilled at building trust with older people, volunteers, trustees and statutory partners.
• Values driven, emotionally resilient and committed to inclusivity and dignity in later life.

We provide confidential practical and emotional support to adults and children affected by domestic abuse across Elmbridge, Epsom & Ewell and Spelthorne, delivering helpline and email advice, advocacy, safety planning, refuge and housing pathways, recovery programmes and targeted work for children and young people. Our practice is trauma-informed and feminist in outlook, foregrounding safety, confidentiality and the lived experience of survivors.
We are a small, specialist organisation with an average headcount of around 18 (approximately 15 frontline staff and three support roles), supported by a committed cohort of volunteers. Since independence our trustees have prioritised governance, compliance and capacity building; in our first independently reported year total income was c.£932k and trustees view the near-term financial position as stable while planning prudently for the medium term. This interim appointment offers the chance to lead NSDAS through consolidation and prepare the charity for its next strategic phase.
As our next Interim Chief Executive Officer, you will:
• Strategy & Impact: Develop and deliver a clear 12-month operational plan, with pragmatic milestones and measurable outcomes that align with trustee priorities and service needs.

Who you are
• A seasoned senior leader with proven executive experience in a small to medium-sized charity or comparable organisation (c.8–20 staff; turnover circa £0.5m+).
• Demonstrable experience of leading organisations through change or transition while maintaining service continuity.
• Strong people leadership skills with experience managing sensitive HR matters, staff wellbeing and clinical/therapeutic supervision arrangements.
• A track record of successful income generation and relationship management with funders, commissioners and statutory partners.
• Financially competent with experience of budgetary control, reading management accounts and reporting to trustees.
• Excellent communicator, credible at both operational detail and strategic discussion, with highly developed stakeholder engagement skills.
• Knowledge of domestic abuse and trauma-informed approaches is essential (practical experience in the VAWG sector strongly preferred).

Purpose of the role
The Finance (FM) contributes to ENN’s vision through strategic management and governance of its financial resources and budgets.
The Finance Manager is responsible for finance strategy, planning and oversight, reporting, regulatory compliance and aligning finance strategies with organisational goals and operations. The FM is a member of the management team, provides key insights to support business decisions, liaises with the board of trustees and holds the position of Company Secretary.
Responsibilities
· Develop ENN’s finance strategy in support of the delivery of its 5 year strategic goals.

· Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
