Purpose of job

To lead and develop BucksVision’s approach to volunteer involvement across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes, ensuring volunteers are recruited, trained, supported and retained to help deliver high-quality services for people with sight loss.

The Volunteer Manager provides guidance and support to staff, volunteers and local groups, helping BucksVision maintain a safe, confident and sustainable volunteer base.

Impact

BucksVision relies on over 280 volunteers to support people with sight loss across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes. Volunteers are central to the charity’s ability to maintain existing services, respond to local need and develop new opportunities.

The Volunteer Manager plays a key role in ensuring BucksVision has a safe, effective and sustainable volunteer base. This includes improving recruitment, supporting retention, strengthening volunteer practice and helping staff and volunteer leaders to manage volunteer involvement confidently and consistently.

Decision making responsibility

The Volunteer Manager is the organisational lead for volunteer involvement and is expected to make day-to-day decisions relating to volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, support, retention and safe practice.

The postholder will use professional judgement to resolve volunteer-related issues, advise colleagues, identify risks and escalate safeguarding, performance or conduct concerns where appropriate.

Main accountabilities

To work in partnership with the Chief Executive and Operations Manager to lead and develop volunteer involvement across BucksVision, ensuring recruitment, onboarding, training, support, retention are delivered in line with BucksVision’s strategic outcomes.

This includes:

• Leading the recruitment, selection and onboarding of volunteers across BucksVision, ensuring applicants are matched to suitable roles and have a positive, accessible and inclusive experience.
• Strengthening volunteer retention by helping to create a positive volunteer experience through clear communication, recognition, feedback and practical problem-solving.
• Line managing three members of staff working with volunteers.
• Providing guidance to staff, social club volunteers, divisional volunteers and volunteer leaders on volunteer involvement, role boundaries, expectations, good practice and safe working.
• Designing, delivering and coordinating training for staff and volunteers, including induction, safeguarding, health and safety, sighted guiding, role boundaries and volunteer management good practice.
• Helping to resolve issues relating to volunteer involvement, including conduct, accessibility, safeguarding, expectations and role boundaries, escalating concerns where appropriate.

Birmingham Settlement is looking to appoint to the new role of Chief Operating Officer to help us continue to deliver the safe, high-quality services our people want, deserve, and expect.

Working closely with the CEO, the Chief Operating Officer will help translate strategic vision into operational delivery by ensuring the Settlement has the systems, people, and processes in place to achieve its goals. This includes operational support and leadership: working closely with managers and service leads to drive the Settlement’s delivery and people strategies, embedding culture, and organisational development to create and take opportunities while also delivering effective financial management, governance, compliance, and risk management.

To succeed, you will have significant experience in the charity sector at a senior level with a proven track record in service delivery and charity compliance, you will have excellent communication and leadership qualities with ability to motivate and inspire to get the best out of people as well as an understanding of the issues the Settlement strives to challenge. As a critical member of the Settlement’s leadership team, you will play a key role in supporting sustainability, development and implementation of our longer-term strategic plans. This will be a very busy but rewarding visible and hands on role that cuts across all aspects of the charity as we continue to grow and develop.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

A rare opportunity to lead communications and brand for one of the UK’s leading education trusts.

As Head of Communications and Brand at the Harris Federation, you will shape and protect our public profile, leading strategic communications, marketing and media activity across a network of 55 academies.

The role

The Armed Forces Project Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Armed Forces and Veteran Community Projects.

The post holder will have knowledge and experience of outreach/engagement, as well as experience of planning and running events and projects. The role requires flexibility and multi-tasking, as well as confidence to complete varied tasks as delegated. The role requires the coordination and chairing of working group meetings and representing the organisation at armed forces events and steering groups.

Overall, duties will differ according to the requirements of the HWE operational plan. Day-to-day responsibilities of the role will include ensuring that project work is completed to a high standard and all reporting requirements are complied with. The main purpose is to ensure that the influence of HWE is maximised through the delivery of high-quality and well ­organised events and activities and meetings that will capture and articulate the voice and lived experience of the people of Essex.

Key accountabilities

· To work with HWE staff, and especially the Senior Management Team, to support the delivery of high quality and well-organised HWE Armed Forces Projects. This includes:

o Plan and deliver the Armed Forces Working Group online and in person meetings.

o Plan and deliver the Primary Care Network Armed Forces Working Group online and in person meetings.

o Evaluate and report on impact of the working groups.

o Enhance the attendance of the working group meetings.

o Be a point of contact for the armed forces and veteran community within Essex.

o Ensuring that project delivery is  on time and on budget, and that risk mitigations are in place.

o Working with the HWE Communications Lead to ensure that there is a PR and communications plan in place, and that it is implemented as appropriate.

o Ensuring that projects/events are evaluated appropriately, that outcomes are monitored, and that feedback is captured and provided to stakeholders.

· To conduct other tasks and duties as considered reasonable by the CEO.

The post holder will be highly organised, and an engaging and effective communicator, with good written and verbal skills. You will be capable of building effective relationships with individuals and organisations, including volunteers, and will be comfortable and highly capable in planning, coordinating and delivering different projects and events. Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Role Purpose

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) provides strategic and operational leadership across all frontline services, accommodation provision, organisational infrastructure, and compliance functions within the charity.

The COO is responsible for ensuring safe, trauma-informed, financially sustainable, and outcomes-focused delivery for individuals experiencing homelessness, poverty, health exclusion, addiction, and crisis.

The role leads operations across the charity’s accommodation portfolio, including winter shelter provision, general needs accommodation, supported accommodation, and intensively supported housing. The COO also oversees the operational platform of the charity’s support programmes, including a community café, community supermarket, crisis drop-in provision, and integrated health clinics.

Working collaboratively with the CEO, Board, statutory agencies, housing provider partners, and wider stakeholders, the COO plays a key leadership role in shaping organisational strategy, strengthening operational systems, embedding trauma-informed practice, and developing innovative models of support that improve long-term outcomes for individuals experiencing multiple disadvantage.

Rowner Community Trust (RCT) is recruiting a Business Lead which will proactively contribute to RCT becoming a more effective and sustainable resident-first organisation and help us to ensure the quality of RCT’s delivery with/by residents.

They will lead on business development, including profitable venue operations and income diversification, ensuring a friendly and high-quality approach to the community levy and help RCT become sustainable (in all senses). You will help us ensure the smooth operations of RCT i.e. accessible and safe venues, HR processes and supporting resident involvement etc. You will also work with the Chief Officer to help provide timely financial and programme monitoring and reporting for sponsors, RCT Board, levy payers etc and help to develop business cases/plans and funding applications.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a willingness to be innovative and be able to lead (with the whole team) on innovation and ensuring cost-effective business processes ensuring that there is a contemporary resident-focused and ‘easy’ approach.

We are looking for a motivated and entrepreneurial person, and we expect that the successful candidate would have a business management qualification (or equivalent) at a degree level, have experience in cost-effective innovation and have a positive and can-do ‘customer’-focused approach and be able to work positively as part of a diverse team including involved residents.

Job Purpose:

Proactively contribute to RCT becoming an effective and sustainable organisation and ensure that organisational resources are available to enable the work of RCT with/by residents.

Key Objectives:
