With a clear, trustee-approved strategy for 2026–2032 already in place, the next Chief Executive will focus on delivery, growth and national influence.

This role comes at a natural and positive point within a planned leadership transition.Our current Chief Executive has provided long-standing, successful leadership and is excited to hand over the rebranded charity for it to be led into its next phase of strategic development, sustainability and growth.
The incoming CEO will inherit a well-led organisation with strong governance, a clear strategic direction, and real momentum.
About the role
As Chief Executive, you will lead delivery of an established strategy, ensuring the organisation continues to grow its reach, impact and income.You will work closely with an engaged and supportive Board of Trustees to maintain high standards of governance, regulatory compliance and risk management, while strengthening the charity’s voice in national policy and public affairs.
This is a role that balances external influence with internal leadership, ensuring both impact and organisational resilience.

About you
You are a credible and values-driven leader with senior experience in the charity, health or related sectors.
You will bring:
- Proven senior leadership experience at Director or Chief Executive Officer level
- Strong understanding of governance, finance and regulatory compliance
- Experience influencing policy and working with senior stakeholders
- A track record of delivering organisational growth and impact
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
You will be confident working with a Board of Trustees, able to build strong relationships, provide clear advice, and operate effectively in a governance-led environment.
You will be motivated by improving health outcomes and confident leading an organisation with both national influence and strong operational delivery.

St Joseph’s Hospice – a leading East London hospice providing compassionate care and support to people with life-limiting illness, their families and carers – is seeking an Interim Head of Supportive Care.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead and transform a diverse portfolio of supportive care services, ensuring that people living with life-limiting illness, and those important to them, receive outstanding, person-centred support that enables them to live well until the end of life.
About the Role
As a key member of the Hospice leadership team, you will lead the development and delivery of our supportive care strategy in line with the Hospice Strategy 2026–2031. You will drive service transformation, develop innovative models of care, strengthen community partnerships, expand volunteer-led services, reduce health inequalities and improve outcomes for patients, families and carers.
You will work collaboratively across the Hospice, the North East London Integrated Care System, voluntary sector partners and local communities to ensure our services remain accessible, responsive and sustainable.
A significant aspect of the role is leading engagement with diverse communities, increasing awareness of hospice services, developing strategic partnerships and supporting the ambitions of compassionate communities across East London.
The post holder will also act as the Hospice's Designated Safeguarding Lead for Adults and Children, providing organisational leadership and assurance on safeguarding practice and governance.
About You
We are looking for an experienced senior leader who can demonstrate:
- Professional registration within a health or social care profession.
- Significant senior leadership experience within palliative care, community health, supportive care or social care services.
- Experience of leading large multidisciplinary teams and complex services.
- Strong strategic planning, operational management and service transformation skills.
- Experience of partnership working across health, social care, community and voluntary sector organisations.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, governance, quality improvement and regulatory requirements.
- Experience of budget management, workforce planning and service development.
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A commitment to inclusion, reducing health inequalities and improving access to care for underserved communities.
- A leadership style that reflects the values of compassion, advocacy, justice, quality and respect for human dignity.
