Purpose of the role:
To lead and deliver Back Up’s People and Culture strategy, ensuring the organisation attracts, develops and retains a high-performing and engaged workforce aligned to its values and strategic objectives.
To act as a trusted advisor to SMT on all people-related matters, providing expert guidance on organisational development, culture, and workforce planning.
To oversee the effective delivery of HR operations, ensuring high-quality administration, compliance, and continuous improvement, with day-to-day processes delivered through the HR, People and Culture Administrator.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruitment and Staffing:
· Oversee best practice in inclusive recruitment, ensuring alignment with Back Up’s values and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
· Partner with SMT and hiring managers to identify current and future workforce needs and develop effective recruitment and workforce planning strategies.
· Ensure role descriptions are consistent, future-focused, and aligned with organisational design and strategic priorities.
· Provide strategic oversight of recruitment processes, ensuring quality, consistency, and positive candidate experience.
· Monitor recruitment metrics (e.g. time-to-hire, diversity of applicants, conversion rates) and implement improvements.
· Oversee onboarding processes to ensure a consistent and high-quality experience for new starters.
· Ensure exit interview processes are delivered effectively and that feedback is analysed to inform retention strategies.
Employee Relations and Culture:
· Foster a positive, inclusive and values-led workplace culture where employees feel engaged and supported.
· Lead on complex employee relations matters, providing expert advice, managing organisational risk, and ensuring fair and consistent outcomes.
· Coach and support managers in addressing employee relations issues, performance concerns, and employee wellbeing matters.
· Work with internal groups (e.g. Wellbeing, Diversity & Inclusion) to design and deliver initiatives that strengthen engagement and organisational culture.
· Lead on staff engagement approaches (e.g. surveys, feedback mechanisms, action planning), ensuring insight is captured and acted upon.
· Working with the SMT develop a programme of internal communications relating to people management, organisational culture and behaviours
Payroll and Benefits:
· Oversee monthly payroll, pension and benefits processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.
· Ensure appropriate controls, reconciliation processes, and data validation are in place, with day-to-day administration managed by the HR Administrator.
· Lead on benefits review and benchmarking to ensure Back Up remains competitive and aligned with organisational values.
Learning and Development:
· Support the SMT to identify training needs and implement professional development programmes for staff and trustees which are tailored to individual and Charity goals.
· Work closely with the People Development volunteer supporting team member coaching, awareness and self-development.
· Oversee the delivery and effectiveness of the induction and ongoing learning programmes
· Lead on the e-learning programme, ensuring content is relevant, impactful, and meets regulatory requirements
Performance Management:
· Oversee performance management processes, ensuring they are consistent, fair, and aligned with Back Up’s values and behaviours.
· Provide guidance and coaching to managers on performance management, including managing underperformance and supporting development.
· Line Management of HR, People and Culture administrator providing clear direction, development support and quality assurance across HR administration.
HR Systems, Data and Insight:
- Oversee HR systems to ensure they are fit for purpose, user-friendly, and effectively support organisational needs.
- Ensure data integrity and robust reporting processes are in place across all HR systems.
- Analyse HR metrics and provide insight and recommendations to SMT.
- Use data to inform workforce planning, organisational development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Best Practice, Policy Development and Compliance:
· Review and update our staff handbook and HR policies and procedures using Back Up’s tone of voice and ensuring compliance with UK employment law and best practice.
· Ensure all staff are aware of and understand HR policies and procedures through effective communication and training.
· Identify and manage HR-related risks, escalating significant issues where appropriate.
· Support organisational audits by ensuring HR systems, records, and processes are compliant and well maintained.
· Stay informed about changes in employment legislation and recommend necessary adjustments to policies.
· Support us to be leaders in inclusive workplace practices delivery of the Disability Confident scheme.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Collaborate with the SMT to align People and Culture operational practice with Charity goals.
· Oversee annual staff survey.
· Manage HR-related budgets, including training and development costs.
· Provide ad-hoc reports and analysis on HR metrics to inform decision-making.
· Support the ethical and responsible use of AI and other technologies across the charity to support our ability to deliver for people with spinal cord injury.

CoppaFeel! are the UK’s only youth focused breast cancer awareness charity, and we’re on a mission to get every 18-24 year old checking their chest. We educate people on the signs of breast cancer and encourage them to check their chests monthly, so that if they notice something unusual they are empowered to contact their GP and advocate for themselves.
We do this because when diagnosed early, breast cancer treatments are more effective and survival rates are higher. Early detection can save lives.

The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic Finance Assistant to join our team at CoppaFeel!. Contributing to the running of our financial systems and processes, the successful applicant will also be providing financial information to support the fundraising team.
We are looking for an enthusiastic person who wants to develop their career in charity finance, who will support our Director of Finance and Head of Finance and Contracts looking after CF! finances. You will be confident with data entry and working across our fundraising and finance systems to ensure income is coded correctly. This role requires reconciling income from many different fundraising platforms and working with our external financial provider.
You will sit within the CoppaFeel! Finance Team and report to Head of Finance.
Duties and Responsibilities
Income & Reconciliation

Accurately code and reconcile income from various fundraising platforms (e.g., JustGiving, CAF) in Beacon to Xero

Tracking income (following current processes) and notify fundraising of certain income

Raise draft invoices as per request, ensuring correct documentation is uploaded
Accounts Payable & Administration

Process and check with accuracy for staff expense claims, Direct Debits and supplier invoices through APM.

Support monthly staff Soldo card submissions, ensuring timely submission of correct receipts

Conducting checks on large invoices with supplier
Finance Systems & Reporting

Assist with generating basic financial reports (e.g. aged payables/receivables)

We are seeking a Clean Energy Futures Projects Lead to manage initiatives in our high-performing Clean Energy Futures team. This is a high-impact role that blends strategy, innovation, and delivery.
This role is central to our unique, global, multi-stakeholder programme, which includes various aspects of consumer rights in energy including energy affordability, energy access, and participation in clean energy opportunities, including emerging technologies such as smart home energy management and dynamic grids.
Working alongside the Clean Energy Futures Strategy Lead, the Director of Sustainability and the wider team, the Clean Energy Futures Project Lead will be responsible for co-creating and managing projects including policy research, consumer insights and campaigns, reports and recommendations to business and government, and coordination with international bodies (UN, IEA, OECD) on standard setting. They will have a key role in the team's engagement with a wide network of consumer organisations and energy sector stakeholders from government, multilaterals organisations, NGOs, think tanks and individual experts, and they will manage and grow critical relationships with private sector partners and funders.

About the role

The Advocacy Academy is an activist youth movement. We serve as the political home for grassroots youth organising and the catalyst for collective action. The lives of the young people we work alongside have been directly shaped by living in an unjust world, and we exist to turn their anger into action.
Young people are often the catalysts for major social change, from the Student Non-violent Coordinating Committee at the heart of the Civil Rights Movement, to the Soweto Uprising mobilising young people to resist the apartheid regime's education policies, to the Sunrise Movement redrawing the electoral map across America, and more recently encampments and protests across the world protesting the genocide in Palestine. How successfully they achieve real and lasting change depends on whether they are organised and whether they have the right strategy and tactics to be effective.
We want youth organising to be enshrined in the UK for generations to come, and for young people to have tangible political power to influence national policy. That’s why we have launched two national coalitions, one around climate, and the other around gender. Each will train organisations across the country to become youth organisers, and work together to bring 100 young people together to identify the strategy and tactics needed to achieve change. These young leaders will organise others and work collectively to build a campaign which shakes the status quo.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
1.You will be responsible for the Changemaker Development Programme (CMDP) including but limited to:
- Working with the Associate Director of Programmes and Associate Director of Partnerships to coordinate programmes planning and delivery timelines for CMDP.
- Managing cross programmatic projects to standardise processes and practices in the Programmes Department
- Designing and developing the recruitment process for Alumni to join the CMDP and create a targeted recruitment strategy to grow the Alumni Changemaker pool
- Managing the monitoring and evaluation of the programme including quantitative and qualitative data, and facilitate the process of ongoing learning being integrated into the programme
- Working with Programmes Leadership Team to coordinate and deliver a holistic safeguarding, wellbeing and pastoral care strategy across TAA’s work with young people
- Responsible for holding the CMDP budget and ensuring that it is managed and spent in accordance with TAA expenses procedure e.g. signing off expenses up to £1,000 expenditure and escalating to Director of Programmes and Partnerships for amounts exceeding this.
2.You will be accountable for the learning design and delivery to include but not limited:
- Leading the design of the CMDP curriculum to agreed TAA standards engaging key stakeholders, e.g. alumni, programmes team, external partners
- Supporting Alumni Changemakers to design, deliver and facilitate social justice workshops in line with established pedagogical approaches at TAA.
- Leading the development of learning journeys for Alumni Changemakers.

3.You will be the port of call for the Changemakers and Community Organisers who will help run the programme, and a regular and trusted individual whom the young people know and can connect with. To include but not limited to:

- You will be managing the Changemakers who are delivering the programme - and updating both the Community Director and Director of Programmes and Partnerships on their progress and development.

5.You will ensure that your programmatic activities are managed as well-oiled machines through pulling in the right people at the right time and ensuring that key milestones are met:
- Responsible for ensuring effective departmental administration including delegating key administrative tasks to relevant staff
- You will be working with the Director of Programme and Partnerships, Director of Community, the Safeguarding and Wellbeing Team and others to think about the safety, safeguarding, and wellbeing needs of the young people participating in the programme and beyond.
- You will ensure safeguarding and Health and Safety standards are met across the programmes team and other critical policies and practices within the organisation, working proactively with relevant leads to understand requirements and operationalise effectively
- You will contribute towards risk management standards and ensure Health and Safety standards are met across programmatic and community team
- You will be responsible for managing and overseeing a suite of behind-the-scenes systems, databases and resources which comply with UKGDPR, safeguarding and other legal requirements.
- You will be responsible for overseeing the logistics of the CMDP including the organisation and coordination of venues, food, travel, staff and risk assessments, individual care plans etc.
- Work closely with the development team to align work with fundraising targets and support them in identifying and securing appropriate fundraising opportunities
- You will be committed to learning, monitoring outcomes, and holding us accountable to ourselves, our communities, funders, allies and donors. This includes shaping thoughtful MEAL practices and developing systems that go beyond compliance, enabling genuine learning and innovation while respecting the integrity and privacy of the young people in the programme.

Provide senior accountability within your remit for ensuring the delivery of our strategic objectives by embedding our vision, mission, strategy, ideology and cultural values across your area and the wider organisation. Play a central role in shaping organisational direction and leading cross-departmental priorities and initiatives. To include but not limited to:

- Provide strategic leadership on governance and risk management within your portfolio, working in close partnership with the Finance, HR and Operations team.

We are now seeking an experienced Grants Manager to lead the delivery of our annual grant‑making programme and play a key role in achieving our Thrive strategy.
About the role
Reporting to the Impact Director, the Grants Manager will manage an annual grants programme of approximately £3 million, overseeing the full grants lifecycle from application and assessment through to monitoring, evaluation and learning. You will build strong relationships with funded partners, prepare robust funding recommendations for Trustees, and ensure our grant‑making is effective, proportionate and aligned with best practice.
You will also line manage an Impact Executive (0.4 FTE) and work closely with colleagues across the organisation to share learning, evidence impact and support wider fundraising and advocacy work.
