Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As a key member of the team, the Grants Officer will work closely with the Head of Charity and colleagues across the team to build a sustainable funding pipeline to help generate significant growth by securing grants by:

• Personally securing substantial gifts from Trusts and Foundations (up to £150k)
• Delivering income targets, in line with the annual budget, from a portfolio of Trusts and Corporate Foundations
• Responsibility for researching Trusts and Corporate Foundations in alignment with a wide variety of projects and appeals that address the needs of BTH
• Developing high-quality bids/applications/cases for support for a variety of funders
• Managing stewardship activities for Trusts and Corporate Foundations, including tracking of reports and payments
• Working proactively with contacts within the Trust to identify and scope opportunities to maximise impact and income
• Working effectively with operational and clinical staff to develop and implement opportunities to foster and strengthen long-term relationships with donors and Trust representatives
• Supporting and developing new engagement events and communications
• Supporting the wider team with large communication, stewardship, or impact reporting activities
• Work collaboratively with the Charity Team to develop a new system for collaborative working in regards to Corporate Foundations, COTY applications, and other written bids for support.
• Develop and manage processes for corporate foundation grants to ensure appropriate banking, thanking, reporting and stewardship is undertaken for all corporate foundation grants.
• Create compelling, high-quality applications that meet the unique expectations of corporate supporters.
• Develop regular activity reports and updates on donor funded activities that clearly indicate progress and impact
• Use, update and develop the CRM database to record approach and grant information, meaningful activities and learning, and to generate portfolio management reports.
• Work collaboratively with the Charity Team to develop and implement engagement and stewardship plans in alignment with existing corporate giving plans, including special events.
• Host visits to BTH by donors or Trustees, ensuring the visit maximises the opportunity to improve the relationship.
• Engage with colleagues across the Trust to identify success and excellence stories to share with our supporters.
• Produce materials such as Impact Reports, website information, Cases for Support and Newsletters appropriate for Major Donors and Trusts with support of the Communications team.
• Ensure that all written communications and materials produced comply with design standards; brand guidelines and appropriate legislation (e.g. style guides, document templates, legal wordings, charities legislation requirements etc).

Qualifications

Essential criteria

• Evidence of high-levels of numeracy and literacy and good general level of education
• Degree qualification, in relevant business-related subject, or equivalent experience to degree level

Desirable criteria

• Externally accredited qualification such as IoF Foundation in Fundraising Practice
• Fundraising specific training to degree level, e.g. proposal writing, negotiation skills etc., or equivalent experience

Experience

Essential criteria

• A proven track record of meeting or exceeding fundraising income targets by writing bids and securing medium value gifts (£10k-£150k) within a Trusts and/or Major Donor Fundraising environment
• Experience researching prospects, including Trusts/Foundations and major donors, and managing data/prospects within a CRM system
• Knowledge of GDPR/data protection laws
• Self-motivated and self-directing; strong time management skills; strong attention to detail; flexible; and honest, with a high degree of personal integrity.
• High emotional intelligence and exceptional interpersonal skills: a ‘people person’. Be able to empathise with people’s stated needs and emotional drivers.

• Knowledge of fundraising trends and experience conducting market research

The Role

The fundraising team at EIA, is responsible for raising income across trusts and statutory funders, as well as raising funds from individuals. The income raised from public fundraising has increased in recent years and they are investing in this area to further increase unrestricted income so that we can conduct even more investigative and campaigning work to protect our natural world.

It is an exciting time to join EIA, as we embark on a new organisational strategy and a new fundraising strategy. Responsibilities:

* Lead on the production of key supporter engagement pieces, the Year in Review and Supporter newsletters, including: curating the content, copywriting, data, as well as liaising with the mailing house and graphic designer.
* Plan, implement and evaluate digital and offline supporter-driven supporter journeys from all individual giving audiences, including appeals, digital, regular giving and the weekly lottery

We are looking for a Trusts and Grants Officer to join our busy and creative Fundraising Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with previous experience of making successful applications to trusts, foundations and other grant making organisations to build and steward a portfolio of funders as we set out on the beginning of our trusts fundraising journey.

About the role

This role is being offered at a minimum of 14 hours per week and a maximum of 21 hours per week, to be worked during office hours Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm

You will work closely with colleagues across the charity, learning about the different services we provide to both animals and pet owners and shaping projects for funding from your findings.

• Analyse the trusts and foundations landscape to enable the charity to fully understand the scope for potential funding

• Oversee the general maintenance of the office.

This is an exciting 2 day a week role to be part of the growing Newham District Foodbank and Ascension’s Advice Service. On 9th June 2021 Ascension’s foodbank officially became part of the Trussell Trust network. We were named Newham District Foodbank, because our plan is to expand to more than one distribution centre to ensure that people across the whole of Newham are well supported. As part of the strategy, we have already secured funding to have debt and benefit advisors supporting each new distribution centre.

In this role you will manage the poverty response work of Ascension Community Trust, including its foodbank. You will provide high level strategic work, including liaising with donors, referral partners and other local foodbanks and support new partners into Newham District Foodbank. Your role will include fundraising for and reporting on the work of Newham District Foodbank, including local partnership funding. You will be involved in the recruitment, management and development of staff and volunteers.

Hours: This role is available as both a full time and part time role, but the candidate must be available for at least 3 days a week, with the expectation of flexibility in emergencies. The salary is up to GBP £41,000 gross annually, pro-rated based on a full-time equivalent, and dependent on experience.

This is an exciting time at CBM UK, as we continue to grow and develop our philanthropic fundraising. To help us achieve our ambitious long-term goals this role requires an experienced and passionate individual to be part of our Philanthropy Team.

This vital role works alongside the Head of Philanthropy as we look to build our philanthropic partnerships over the next five years and beyond, with a particular focus on our High-Net-Worth Individuals (Major Donors). This important role will seek to develop our Major Donor income stream, seeking to grow both numbers of donors and income raised. Background Information

The Weir Link was established to replace what was a derelict laundry and community room with a new purpose-built building which opened on the Weir Estate in June 2010. The charity’s principal aim is to provide educational, training and social opportunities that ‘bring the community together’ from all areas and backgrounds across the streets and estates within the local area.

To date the building has been used as the base for a Children’s Centre, Nursery (currently operated by London Early Years Foundation (Leyf)), a Volunteer Project as well as a range of other Fun Days, coffee mornings, community meetings and social get togethers. In addition to the nursery, which occupies the largest rooms of the building, there are additionally two office spaces and a meeting room available for community use. 

We currently run a range of weekly after-school activities, including a homework club, two stay-and-play sessions, an arts and crafts club and a Pilates class. We also facilitate other community activities, including yoga classes, ante-natal classes and local residents’ meetings.

Job Description

Key responsibilities

1. Ensure that all aspects of the management and operation of The Weir Link are carried out effectively and in keeping with the organisation’s mission, vision and values.

2. Manage the delivery of a high-quality programme of activities and events for the local community.

3. Manage current partnerships, both those organisations with long term rental agreements and those with whom we co-ordinate activities and services for the community.

4. Continue to develop and manage new partnerships in keeping with the aims and objectives of the business plan.

5. Line-manage the Facilities and Bookings Co-ordinator to ensure the building is well-maintained, safe and meets all statutory requirements.

6. Manage the co-ordination of website updates and social media posts in collaboration with our team members.

7. Work with the Trustees to implement the 3-5 year business plan, including a sustainable funding strategy.

8. Ensure an effective marketing strategy to continue to promote our activities and events to the local community.

9. Ensure all those who visit The Weir Link feel welcome, safe and encouraged and maintain systems for monitoring our users’ satisfaction and evaluating outcomes.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a range of skills and experience as follows;-

1. Experience in business development and identifying potential development opportunities with other partners and organisations.

2. Experience fundraising and researching and applying for grants and funding opportunities.

3. Demonstrable success in project management, including experience of marketing and communications (both online and offline), as well as effective reporting and evaluation.

4. Experience in community research with a wide range of individuals and community groups, including through the organisation of community events

We are looking for a motivated, organised and reliable individual who is happy to take on these responsibilities while working closely alongside others in our small team.  Above all you will be flexible, resourceful, efficient and committed to contributing in a meaningful way to our local community.  As with all small organisations, sometimes we have to go above and beyond what is expected on a daily basis, but in return we can offer greater flexibility than other larger organisations.

This is a part-time, maternity leave role for 12 months in the first instance. We are able to offer a flexible working pattern, which would comprise of 15 hours per week across three days a week. The hours can be between 9.30 and 4pm every day, with the possibility of hybrid working (combining office-based and remote working) during the school holidays.

This role would suit a parent or carer who would like their hours to work around the school day and have flexibility during school holidays. 

Ideally the person would also be a local resident who is prepared to build on our links with other community organisations that are local to The Weir Link.
