Job description

Irish in Britain support and connect members, helping to strengthen their organisations, develop leadership and build sustainability.

We also represent the interests of our membership and the wider Irish community, ensuring their voices inform our work and priorities in health, policy and campaigning, and heritage.

Irish communities in Britain are diverse, evolving and spread across generations. We understand community broadly, and that it can be shaped by shared heritage, culture, experience or interests. We view our community as anyone with a connection to, or interest in, Ireland, Irish culture, and the Irish diaspora in Britain.

The Community Development role is key in supporting the organisations, groups, and networks that serve these communities across Britain. The postholder will build strong relationships with existing and prospective members, understand their needs and facilitate access to practical and tailored support.

The role also coordinates a number of Irish in Britain’s membership programmes, events and initiatives, including the New Leaders Programme and the Volunteer Awards, as well as supporting the Operations Manager with Irish in Britain’s AGM, and the Emigrant Support Programme’s annual information sessions.
