Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to help Eastbourne Foodbank realise its vision of continuing to be a strong and effective anti-poverty charity challenging social injustice in Eastbourne. To realise this ambition, we need to increase our fundraised income and develop our expertise in different areas of fundraising. This new role will play an important part in helping us do this.

Income from grant-making foundations is an important part of our income mix. The Trusts and Foundations Officer will focus on nurturing our existing trust partners, and identifying and approaching new funding prospects. This will also include working with some local businesses, bringing our cause to life and fostering excellent, lasting, personalised relationships with our business donors.

Key Responsibilities:

Prospect research: Using a range of research resources and tools, you’ll identify and prioritise funders with the propensity and capacity to support our work

Grant writing: Working with colleagues, you’ll write authentic, compelling and targeted funding applications that inspire grant-makers to partner with us and provide high quality financial and other information they require.

Stewardship: You will ensure that our portfolio of ongoing / existing funders are stewarded well. This will involve producing timely funding reports, arranging project visits and providing ongoing information and contact.

You will engage with local businesses in order to grow Eastbourne Foodbank’s income from local businesses. You will develop, monitor and build on delivery of our existing trusts and foundations fundraising portfolio, and build our local business fundraising plan, to support our aim of generating in excess of £300k per annum.

You will research, monitor and maintain a trusts and foundations fundraising pipeline, which will be used to make financial projections in our organisational budget

You will forge strong relationships with colleagues across the wider Trussell network, sharing best practice and learning from other charities across the network. You’ll proactively take advantage of any fundraising training and skills development opportunities and engage with any joint fundraising opportunities.

You will track, analyse, review and improve the performance of our trusts and foundations applications and business fundraising, using these insights to inform and improve our fundraising performance.
