An exciting opportunity for a Head of Health Information and Support has arisen at World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF).
World Cancer Research Fund champions the latest and most authoritative scientific research from around the world on cancer prevention and survival through diet, weight and physical activity, so that we can empower people to make informed lifestyle choices to reduce their cancer risk.
We are seeking an inspiring, strategic and collaborative leader to shape and deliver WCRF’s Health Information and Support strategy across three core audiences: the general public, health professionals and cancer survivors. The team turns WCRF’s scientific evidence on cancer prevention and survival into practical, accessible information, training and support based on our Cancer Prevention Recommendations. The postholder will lead and develop the team, ensuring its work is innovative, evidence-based, high quality and demonstrably effective.
Working across Science, Policy, Fundraising, Communications and Engagement, you will create new ways to share our health information, improve existing resources and services, and build impactful partnerships. You will ensure that public and patient insight shapes our work from cancer prevention to survivorship, strengthen programmes for health professionals and make effective use of digital channels. Responsibilities include contributing to our Medical Education programme, participating in working and steering groups and speaking at national conferences, networking at events, engaging corporate audiences and acting as a spokesperson in broadcast and print media. Ultimately, you will help establish WCRF as the go-to source of information and support on the links between cancer, nutrition and lifestyle.
The successful candidate will have a strong track record of implementing strategy, developing business and operational plans, and leading high-performing teams.
You will bring substantial experience in areas such as health information or education, working with healthcare professionals, UK health policy, health science or research, or marketing health information and services. You will be confident in measuring impact, managing budgets and using data to improve performance, with strong knowledge of non-communicable diseases and issues including nutrition, obesity, diet and physical activity. An excellent communicator and relationship-builder, you will be proactive, creative and results-focused, able to operate at senior management level and open to using digital, AI and other emerging tools to improve effectiveness and efficiency.

Role Purpose:
The Helpline Advisor will be the first point of contact for individuals reporting incidents of anti-Muslim hate. The role requires delivering empathetic, confidential, and high-quality support to callers, as well as accurately recording reports and ensuring all relevant procedures are followed.
Helpline Advisors will support service users via multiple channels—phone, email, SMS, WhatsApp, online chat and web form, by listening actively, offering appropriate information, and making referrals to specialist services where required. Holding responsibility for significant operational budgets, regulatory compliance and legal risk exposure, the Operations Manager plays a key role in shaping and improving service delivery.
Leading a team of Contracts Surveyors and Asset Delivery Officers, the postholder will provide strategic direction, performance management and professional leadership across multiple service areas. They will ensure contractors and internal teams are held accountable for delivering high-quality, timely and cost-effective repairs and void services through effective contract management, performance monitoring and robust financial controls. The role includes leading contractor performance reviews, overseeing procurement and re-procurement activities where required, validating invoices, and ensuring compliance with audit and governance requirements.
The Operations Manager will oversee the management of legal disrepair cases and insurance claims, ensuring early intervention strategies are in place to minimise legal and financial exposure. Working closely with legal advisers and insurers, they will provide witness statements, attend court where necessary, embed lessons learned into operational practice, and produce assurance reports on emerging trends, risks and mitigation measures.
As the organisational lead for Healthy Homes, the postholder will ensure effective management of damp and mould cases, full compliance with Awaab's Law, timely inspections and remedial works, accurate regulatory reporting, and the identification of trends and root causes to inform future asset investment and maintenance strategies.
The role is responsible for managing and monitoring budgets across Responsive Repairs, Voids, Disrepair and Insurance, Healthy Homes, Out of Scope Works, Fencing, Tree Maintenance, Renewals and Replacements. The postholder will ensure strong financial governance, contribute to long-term financial planning and zero-based budgeting, identify cost drivers and opportunities for efficiencies, and demonstrate value for money across all areas of responsibility.
Working collaboratively across the organisation, the Operations Manager will monitor operational performance against key performance indicators, analyse service data, develop improvement plans where performance falls below target, and ensure accurate reporting to senior leaders. They will manage operational risks, maintain data integrity across housing and asset management systems, support regulatory inspections and audits, and provide assurance regarding compliance, operational performance and service delivery.
The postholder will champion an outstanding customer experience by ensuring repairs-related complaints are resolved effectively, learning from customer feedback to improve services, supporting vulnerable residents, and working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver positive resident outcomes. They will build and maintain effective relationships with tenants, resident groups, local authority partners, contractors, consultants, legal advisers, insurers and regulatory bodies, representing the organisation professionally and promoting collaborative working.
The Operations Manager will deputise for the Head of Asset Delivery when required, providing operational leadership, supporting strategic decision-making and representing the Asset Delivery function at senior internal and external meetings. The postholder will join the academy’s Global Strategy, Policy & Engagement Team at an exciting time for its international policy and engagement work. Reporting to the Head of Global Strategy, Policy & Engagement, this role will play a key part in shaping and delivering the academy’s international engagement strategy, strengthening relationships with key international partners, and contributing to the academy’s growing influence across global policy debates. The role will work particularly closely with a fellow Deputy Head leading on the Global (Dis)Order international policy programme and help lead the academy’s international engagement and partnerships portfolio, with particular responsibility for global relationship-building and engagement with international organisations and networks.
A key aspect of the role will be helping to develop and deliver the academy’s international policy activities in a rapidly evolving geopolitical environment. This will include identifying emerging opportunities and challenges, coordinating evidence-based policy outputs, convening expertise from across the humanities and social sciences, and ensuring the academy's work informs and influences decision-making at national and international levels. The role will involve fostering relationships with researchers, policymakers, governments, multilateral organisations, funders, think tanks and international partners to ensure the academy remains an influential voice within global policy discussions. The role includes the management of two Senior International Policy Advisers and candidates will be working with colleagues in the wider team in a matrix fashion requiring adaptability and flexibility.
The successful candidate will bring strong policy development and delivery experience, excellent stakeholder management skills and an ability to operate confidently across complex international environments. Experience of international engagement, diplomacy, multilateral organisations, international research policy or government relations would be particularly valuable. - Experience in project management
- The ability to communicate clearly, assertively, and diplomatically at all levels
- Demonstrable success in developing and delivering multi-channel digital campaigns with measurable impact
- Demonstrable expertise in paid media strategy and optimisation (Google Ads, Meta, programmatic, etc.)
- Strong creative ideation and direction skills
