This is an exciting opportunity to join the Education team in the Diocese of Chester in managing the DBE’s financial operations and overseeing its legal work and schools’ capital projects.
The Finance and Operations Officer is a key member of the Diocesan Education team, responsible for the financial management and operations of the company. Scope of the role
You will manage and successfully deliver key events including the London Marathon, Great North Run and London Landmarks Half Marathon, as well as third party and DIY challenge fundraising. You’ll lead on supporter recruitment and stewardship to meet or exceed agreed targets, while keeping budgets, income and performance on track, as well as maintaining accurate supporter data. You’ll also support on the delivery of Community and Virtual challenge fundraising, including our flagship challenge, Walk in Her Name.
1)Support planning and delivery of the Events programme
i) Support recruitment, engagement and retention across our event portfolio including London Marathon, Great North Run, London Landmarks as well as third party and DIY challenges to meet or exceed agreed income and engagement targets, while keeping budgets, income and performance on track.
ii) Responsible for the OCA London Marathon team from sign-up to post-race including delivery of training and fundraising support, on the day cheer point and post-race celebration activities.
iii) Attend events as required.
iv) Support the team Manager to plan and deliver virtual challenges, including our flagship event, Walk in Her Name and Walk 100, working collaboratively across the team to maximise supporter experience and campaign performance.
2) Manage delivery of Community Fundraising
i) Manage delivery of community fundraising and engagement
ii) Support the team manager to explore and identify new opportunities for growth.
3) Provide excellent supporter care across the events and community portfolio
i) Deliver excellent supporter care across Events and Community fundraising, ensuring every supporter receives timely, helpful and inspiring communications throughout their fundraising journey
ii) Monitor event performance and supporter feedback, sharing and deploying insight to improve stewardship journeys, recruitment activity and future planning
iii) Work closely with colleagues across Fundraising, Communications, Finance and Database teams to deliver integrated, supporter-led activity.
4) Provide excellent administrative support
i) Manage and track event budgets, income and expenditure, ensuring accurate forecasting, reporting and post-campaign evaluation.
ii) Maintain accurate supporter and financial records across Raiser’s Edge and fundraising platforms, including data coding, income coding and administrative processes to support excellent supporter care
iii) Ensure all events and fundraising activity is delivered in line with Ovarian Cancer Action’s processes, fundraising best practice, GDPR requirements and relevant legislation.

Additional details

About the role
As Finance Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of the charity, ensuring the organisation can continue delivering life-changing support for individuals and families affected by spinal cord injury. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will keep our day-to-day finances accurate and up to date, processing invoices, income, journals and payments, and supporting bank reconciliations, credit control, and year-end preparation. It is a role for someone who takes real pride in getting the detail right, and who wants their work to make a tangible difference.
What you will be doing
- Processing purchase and sales invoices, company credit cards and expenses.
- Processing income received through various channels, and investigating variances and queries.
- Processing journals and supporting payments to suppliers and petty cash transactions.
- Supporting the preparation of monthly bank reconciliations.
- Assisting with year-end accounts preparation and supporting the auditors.
- Supporting the production of the aged debtors list and helping with credit control.
- Processing transactions accurately using Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Resolving a range of day-to-day finance queries.
- Supporting senior finance staff with other projects and tasks as required.
About you
We are looking for someone who is accurate, organised, and comfortable working with numbers:
- Proven experience in a finance or bookkeeping role, with strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise a varied and busy workload.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office 365.
- Able to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing.

Reporting in to the Partnership and Business Development Lead, the Government, Multilateral and Climate Funding Manager is responsible for driving sustained growth in income and impact outcomes by actively engaging and cultivating strong relationships with existing and new institutional and climate funding partners.
The role co-creates and leads bidding with MCCs and Global Programmes teams, securing multi-year, multi-million government, multilateral, and climate funding awards.
The post-holder will co-lead and deliver the government, multilateral and climate funding strategy, positioning Christian Aid and its partners to access and scale climate finance, including adaptation, resilience, loss and damage, and nature-based solutions funding.

MSF UK is looking for a Press Officer to focus on it's proactive, strategic media coverage. Job Purpose:
- The main purpose of this role is to proactively seek coverage of MSF / create news about MSF.
- This role is about creating opportunities for impactful coverage and setting up good relationships externally.
- To raise awareness of the work and priorities of MSF with core target audiences via coverage in UK and international radio, podcasts, TV, print, online and documentaries.
- Maintain relationships with international colleagues e.g. the International Office (IO), Communication Advisors, other press officers in key hubs globally as well as field communications teams.
- While the majority of your time will be spent gaining proactive coverage, there’s also an expectation that you will help with incoming enquiries or offer to assist the News team if it’s busy - under instruction from the Head of Media or Senior Press Officers.
- You will be part of an on-call / out of hours rota, including evenings and weekends, for which you will accumulate TOIL.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrable experience in press office work, TV production or international journalism,
- including substantial understanding of, and contacts in, UK media.
- Experience in pitching stories and features to print, radio, TV, podcast and online.
- Good knowledge of world affairs and a demonstrable understanding of and commitment to humanitarian issues.

At St Leonard’s Hospice, we are looking for a skilful communicator to lead our Communications team as Head of Communications. Building the charity’s brand and driving audience engagement, this roleis the strategic lead for communications at the Hospice, from clinical services to income generation.
