The Role

This role heads the Project Finance team and ensures it continues to support Blue Marine effectively as the organisation grows in scale and complexity. It also oversees the full financial journey of Blue Marine’s project partners, from due diligence and legal agreements through to strong financial oversight and accurate reporting. Reporting to the Director of Finance, Operations and Governance, the successful candidate will: 

• Oversee and develop the Project Finance team, setting clear priorities, high standards and effective ways of working.
• Drive the strategic direction of the Project Finance function as Blue Marine’s portfolio grows in scale and complexity.
• Maintain high-level oversight of project budgets, delivery partners, donor requirements, financial risks and reporting obligations across the portfolio.
• Oversee the end-to-end financial journey of project partners, from due diligence and legal agreements through to ensuring timely and accurate reporting is received.
• Ensure high-quality, timely project reporting, budget monitoring, audit evidence and donor compliance, with fit-for-purpose processes followed consistently.
• Provide insight, challenge and analysis to support strategic decisions and funding proposals.
• Lead Blue Marine’s work to build the operational capacity of international project partners, including through some international travel.
• Champion practical improvements to systems and ways of working, building on an existing culture of continuous improvement.
• Provide hands-on support during peak reporting periods while maintaining senior oversight.

Skills and experience required

Essential 

• Significant senior experience in project finance, programme finance or commercial finance, with responsibility for complex budgets, reporting and risk.
• Strong track record of overseeing large and complex portfolios, including financial reporting, audit evidence, and contractual or donor compliance requirements and risk management.
• Experience of improving finance systems, reporting tools or organisational processes during a period of growth or change.
• Strong understanding of financial controls, policies and processes, with the ability to apply sound judgement in a practical and proportionate way.
• Experience of working with external partners to improve financial processes, reporting and operational effectiveness.
• Experience of leading and developing high-performing teams, with the ability to set clear priorities and improve ways of working.
• Confident communicator with the ability to build credibility and constructive relationships with colleagues, funders and external partners.
• Highly organised, with the ability to manage competing deadlines and maintain accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-moving environment.

The Bugzi - a mini powered wheelchair for children offers many children their first experience of independent mobility. We are seeking a Finance Assistant to work alongside the Senior Finance Manager as this merger takes place and to support QiL longterm. As the Finance Manager, you will support the monitoring and control of Trust spend, working closely with the Finance Director to successfully manage budgets and incoming resources, whilst delivering the highest standards of customer service to the academies in the Trust and other stakeholders.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day finance transactions, including banking, management accounts review and reconciliation, debtor management and reporting, and the administration and development of the finance system. This includes close working with the Accounts Payable team to ensure robust financial control, compliance and efficiency across all academies within the Trust.

You will provide a stable, flexible and resilient service that supports leadership in delivering value for money and strong financial stewardship across all income streams received by the Trust. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Control & Accounting: Lead month-end close procedures, balance sheet reconciliations, and correction journals. Maintain the fixed asset register and calculate annual depreciation in line with academy financial reporting standards.
• Budgeting & Income Management: Partner with the Finance Director to advise academy budget holders, manage self-generated income streams (including debt management/reporting), and oversee compliance for the 6th form bursary payment process.
• Cash & Compliance: Direct daily banking reconciliations, cash-flow forecasting, and monthly VAT 126 return submissions to HMRC.
• Systems & Operational Support: Act as the super-user and administrator for the Trust’s finance system—providing training to staff and stepping in to support the Accounts Payable team during peak periods.
• Procurement: Oversee the Trust’s centralised contract register to support timely renewals, compliance with procurement policy, and value-for-money principles.
• Audit & Governance: Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and support the internal scrutiny and external annual audit processes by providing clean evidence.
• Academy Partnering: Spend time out at the local academy sites to assist with school trip costings, build visibility, and strengthen financial understanding across the school. 

What You'll Need to Succeed:

• Sector Experience: Prior finance experience within an educational setting, academy trust, local authority, or the wider public/not-for-profit sector is highly desirable but not essential.
• Technical Strength: A strong foundation in management accounts preparation, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial control frameworks.
• System Savvy: Excellent IT skills, particularly with modern finance software/ERP systems, and the ability to train/support other users.
• Communication Skills: The ability to explain complex financial matters clearly to academic leaders and senior trustees who may not have a finance background.
• Flexibility: A collaborative mindset with a willingness to travel to different academy locations in North London as required.

The Salary range is £45,000 - £53,000 + Excellent benefits including Local Government Pension Scheme. 

You will be predominately based in the trusts Head Office (Edmonton / Enfield area) with some travel to the academy sites which are local to the office.

Interim Tax Lead - ERP Implementation | £700 per day Umbrella Co. | Remote | 18-Months +

For a large government organisation, we're recruiting an interim Tax Manager to lead delivery of day-to-day tax operations including VAT and tax compliance during a large-scale ERP implementation programme. The interim Tax Manager will focus on maintaining high-quality business-as-usual tax delivery, while working closely with the ERP programme teams to share knowledge, provide input on system-wide tax processes, and support readiness.

Main Duties:

• Lead delivery of the day-to-day Tax operations (e.g., VAT and Tax Compliance)
• Support the Compliance and Financial Accounting Team with BAU Tax delivery
• Support the ERP implementation team activity across the Tax Management lifecycle
• Ensure continuity and accuracy of all BAU Tax activities
• Collaborate with the ERP programme teams to share expertise, input into design decisions, and suggest improvements to the Tax Management lifecycle
• Support the local design phase of the Oracle Fusion Cloud system for day-to-day Tax Management processes
• Support system integration testing for all Tax Management processes end-to-end and support real-life users of the system (UAT)
• Support the Oracle Fusion cutover phase, completing Tax Data migration, and the final transition.

Person Specification:

• CTA, CCAB or ATT qualified
• Proven experience delivering high-quality BAU tax operations with strong functional tax expertise, particularly in VAT within Government
• Experience of Government VAT rules, including Contracted Out Services
• Knowledge of taxable benefits, IR35, and provision of tax guidance / advisory support
• Good understanding of ERP systems and ideally implementation principles (although it is not essential to have led ERP delivery)
• Ability to work closely with programme teams to provide insight and input into ERP design and implementation
• Ideally experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud
