An exciting opportunity has arisen in North London for an experienced, passionate and enthusiastic Kinship Youth Worker to lead on a ground-breaking youth project aimed at supporting children and young people in kinship care.

Kinship is the leading kinship care charity in England and Wales. We work with all kinship carers – the grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and family friends who are caring for children when their parents can’t. 

This is an exciting and creative role for an experienced Youth Worker to lead on a groundbreaking project aimed at amplifying the voices of children living in kinship care.

With Funding from BBC Children in Need you will engage young people in North London to develop a group of up to 20 children and young people who meet regularly for workshops, activities and discussions about kinship care. With your support, the group will create a film which will highlight their lived experiences of growing up in kinship care. Working alongside a production company the successful candidate will support the young people to co-create the film and will play an active role in scripting, storyboarding, filming and editing.

You will be an engaging and creative Youth Worker who will lead on the development and delivery of a youth group based in Islington. The aims of the group are to enhance social connection, encourage positive wellbeing, develop self-esteem and provide skills for the future.

Social Prescribing Advice Link Worker

Location: Bromley by Bow and GP practices across the Primary Care Network
Job Type: Part time, 28 hours per week (4 days a week)

Our client is working with the Primary Care Network (PCN), Bromley by Bow Health & Stepney Health CIC, to improve access to social welfare advice and help meet the needs of some of the most vulnerable patients and families locally.

The role will provide social welfare advice to people referred into the Centre’s Social Prescribing service. The role will focus on what matters to the individual and take a holistic approach, providing welfare benefits, housing, debt, food and energy advice.

The Social Prescribing Advice Link Worker will refer to agencies at a specialist level including immigration, legal advice and debt as well as support individuals to access a range of services and activities in their local communities.

The role will build collaborative relationships with GP practice staff, including the delivery of social welfare advice training to enable them to identify and connect people experiencing hardship with the support they need to improve their circumstances and prevent problems developing into issues of hardship and crisis.

The role will help shape the Centre’s Social Prescribing service so that it reflects the changing environment and helps reduce health inequalities locally.

Purpose of the Post

London's Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) has joined forces with Redthread and Catch22 to support young Londoners aged 16-30 to gain skills, qualifications, and employment in the digital and surrounding sectors.

The youth Mentor will be working within local communities to support programme users to progress into apprenticeships, employment, education, and training opportunities.

In this role we are looking for a Youth Mentor to provide tailored career guidance and occasionally deliver facilitated employability workshops to those enrolled on the programme. We want someone who is ready to champion the rights and needs of those facing barriers to work, and is committed to delivering the best they can, for the people on the programme

You will manage a caseload of service users and develop bespoke plans to support these individuals throughout their journey towards progression. It would be beneficial to have an awareness of the digital or technical sectors and/or apprenticeships.

You will immerse yourself in a targeted location and be responsible for engaging a range of referral partners to attract targeted young people onto the programme.

Role overview:

This is a hybrid role on a self-employed basis. Travel is required to complete assessment visits to the care units applying to the scheme, please refer to the Flexibility and Expectation section in regard to frequency of travel. 

As a Lead Assessor, you'll play a pivotal role in upholding the integrity of our AP scheme. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct comprehensive assessment visits to units undergoing evaluation within the scheme. Working hand in hand with service user perspective assessors, you'll monitor all Headway AP core domains during onsite visits.

Key responsibilities:

• Review relevant documentation ahead of onsite visits.
• Collaborate with service user perspective assessors during visits, focusing on core domain monitoring.
• Facilitate post-visit debriefing meetings with assessors to ensure thorough discussion and alignment.
• Maintain open communication channels with the AP Manager to address any assessment-related queries or challenges.
• Prepare detailed assessment reports in collaboration with assessors, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
• Deliver finalised reports to the AP Manager and communicate outcomes to units undergoing assessment.

Flexibility and expectations:

This role offers flexibility, with the expectation of completing a minimum of 4 assessments within a year. This allows you to balance your professional commitments while making a meaningful impact within our AP scheme.

Hourly rate and expenses:

The hourly rate for this role is £20.00. This rate includes time spent on administrative tasks before and after visits, the duration of the visit itself, and travel time. Additionally, travel expenses will be reimbursed.

To provide an example, the estimated time commitment for conducting an accreditation is as follows:

Preparation: 2 hours

Visit: 7 hours

Debrief meeting: 1 hour

Report writing: 8 hours (Please note assessment will need to be completed within 6 weeks from the date of the visit.) 

Travel: We aim to allocate Lead Assessors to units close to their location to minimise travel time, the hourly rate will be reflecting the time travel invoiced . Mileage is reimbursed at £0.40 per mile.

Candidate profile:

• Hold a professional qualification (e.g., OT, SaLT, Nursing, Physio) with demonstrated experience in ABI.
• Exhibit unwavering objectivity and impartiality during assessments.
• Uphold strict confidentiality standards in handling sensitive information.
• Possess a solid understanding of key legislation and frameworks pertinent to ABI care provision.
• Able to review and analyse evidence thoroughly.
• Skilled in engaging with staff, service users, and families.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

The Approved Provider Associate Manager will involve, conducting and writing assessments and working with their Manager to manage Lead Assessors, who are based around the UK and the Service User Perspective Assessors, who are either brain injury survivors, or family members/ carers.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Conduct Approved Provider assessments, which includes going into brain injury residential units, assessing the services they provide and making recommendations, to improve practice against the framework.
• Writing and reviewing reports for Approved Provider units, following assessments, that clearly highlight strengths and areas for development.
• Contributing to the development and growth of Headway’s Approved Provider scheme, by continuing to drive forward standards and onboarding new units. 
• Working with freelance Lead Assessors and Service User Perspective Assessors who are based around the UK, to organise assessments and ensure the schemes standards are upheld.

ABOUT YOU

We’re open-minded & welcome all applicants who believe they can succeed. Though ideally, you will have:

• Prior experience of working in the field of acquired brain injury.
• Relevant professional qualification (e.g. occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, clinical psychology, physiotherapy, nursing, social work).
• Ability to write and moderate written reports of high quality and clarity, to provide accurate and accessible feedback.
• Ability to gain the trust, confidence, and respect at all levels within external organisations and staff groups.
• Be an excellent communicator, with new and existing Approved Provider units.

To provide safety planning, support, advice and assistance to children who have experienced domestic violence and abuse and are staying in the refuge.

The work will focus on preventing domestic abuse by providing support and facilitating safe space for children and young people and peer support networks in the refuge and supporting children and young people to keep safe in/maintain their refuge accommodation

The post-holder will work to empower and support children to make positive choices.

To establish resettlement services to support women and children to move on from refuge accommodation.

The post-holder work as part of the refuge team, with clients who live in the refuge after being referred via the Front Door Service.

To participate in the delivery of the on-call out of hours service on a rota basis.

Exeter-based cancer charity, Force, is well known and much loved for its incredible work supporting people who have had a cancer diagnosis and their families with a range of support.  Their longstanding CEO is now retiring and the search has begun to find that special person to lead the charity into the future.  We are delighted and honoured to be supporting the Board with this important appointment.

The current CEO has worked hard to ensure that the nurturing and caring aspect of the charity’s work is reflected across the organisation.  You can see this in the way that everyone is treated – clients, families, staff, volunteers, supporters and trustees.  We are looking for someone who understands and upholds these values but equally has the resilience and clarity of thought to navigate through the complex landscape of cancer services and support.  You will have held a senior leadership role within the voluntary sector for at least two years and understand the legal framework within which charities operate.  Previous experience of working with a voluntary Board of trustee/directors will be hugely helpful and, naturally, you will be financially astute. 

Of course, you will be an inspiring and confident communicator, able to engage with and present to a range of audiences as well as working with local media.
