OASIS PARENT AND CARER SUPPORT WORKER

HOURS: Full time, 40 hours per week (flexible hours), inclusive of breaks

Unsocial Working: Regular evening work will be expected, with occasional weekend hours. 

CONTRACT: Fixed Term until June 2027

SALARY:  £28,088 per annum (Grade E)

In April 2021 we launched the GM Navigators project to support young people impacted by youth violence.  In response to feedback from parents and carers, the PACS project was set up in 2023 to assist Parents and Carers identifying their child as ‘at risk’. Since this the service has gone from strength to strength with Parents and Carers engaging from all 10 GM boroughs.  We have securing funding to continue this project until 2027 with potential for further extensions.

Oasis is recruiting a PAC Support Worker to be part of the PAC Project.   

As a PAC Support Worker you will;

· Support parent and carers that identify their child is “at risk” offering them advice and guidance, practical support and linking them in with services/groups that will provide them with a sustainable support network.

· Help parents and carers to develop projects to raise awareness of the issues they are facing, offering peer support and influence policy and system change. 

· Be trained in Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) and other parenting approaches to support parents and carers to respond to their children’s needs, de-escalate situations and maintain good relationships within their home.

· Delivering our ‘Encounter’ Parenting Training (based on the principles of NVR) online and in-person to groups of parents and host online and in-person support groups for parents and carers.

· Be integral to the shaping and development of the PAC project utilizing the feedback of those you are working with to ensure the project is impactful and meeting parent’s and carers needs as a priority.

• Empower Parents and Carers that want to set up groups or run campaigns to raise awareness of issues they are facing.  Managing resources to support them to turn their ambitions into reality.

· A demonstratable relevant experience OR qualification in Youth & Community (JNC) or Social Work (QSW) or SEND

We are looking for a Community Support Coordinator, who will lead and develop a team of Volunteers, helping to deliver safe, inclusive and person-centred support.

You will work closely with health and social care professionals, Multi Disciplinary Teams, local partners and volunteers to connect people affected by MND with the information, services and support they need.

At the Motor Neurone Disease Association, we work to improve care, support and quality of life for people affected by MND. As a Community Support Coordinator, you will play a key role in ensuring our support reaches people when they need it most.

The role of Families Project Worker involves supporting a caseload of families living in temporary accommodation. The role requires a combination of specialist knowledge and excellent relationship building skills to support residents with varying degrees of mental health and trauma related issues to engage with appropriate support, improve their experience of temporary accommodation and to access suitable housing solutions.

The role is dependent on excellent communication and joint working with colleagues and a variety of partners and professionals; including the NHS, Probation Service, local council services and other third sector organisations.

The role requires a high degree of motivation to support complex and vulnerable people, often in a lone-working situation. With a passion to work collaboratively with others for the good of our service users, and with some experience of working in a related field in a voluntary or paid capacity.

A high degree of emotional intelligence is required to support service users, many of whom have complex emotional needs, with backgrounds of trauma, neglect, abuse, crime and low self-worth. A role of this nature will experience a range of emotions from joy to grief and as such requires a high degree of resilience to cope with the emotional demands of the role.

Making decisions, “in the moment” to do the right thing to mitigate risk with service users can place high emotional demands on the job holder. The role is highly reactive, unpredictable and at times, chaotic. The role therefore requires a high degree of self-awareness to one’s own resilience levels and exercising appropriate levels of self-care.

The Role

Middle School Science Teacher - Grade 7 (one-year)

Reports to: the Middle School Principal

Hours: full-time

Start date: August 2026

This role is a one-year fixed-term position to cover a leave of absence.

Overall purpose

The middle school science teacher is responsible for delivering a science curriculum to middle school students in an engaging, stimulating and effective manner, using varied instructional strategies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to promote inquiry-based learning, in which students work both collaboratively and independently to create new knowledge, share materials, problem-solve and discuss mathematical concepts through hands-on learning activities such as labs, fieldwork and whole class discussions.

Summary of duties

• Teach four sections of science and serve as a Grade 7 advisor, (each section of science meets for 80 min, four times per every eight days and advisory meets every day for 30 min)

• Prepare, coordinate and plan the curriculum with other members of the science department, and liaise with other departments where appropriate

• Exhibit knowledge of current trends, pedagogy, research, and topics of importance in science education by applying it in the classroom and sharing it with teachers on a departmental and school-wide basis

• Monitor and evaluate students’ progress, prepare for parent conferences, grade assessments and complete report cards, etc

• Take responsibility for the safety and well-being of all students, demonstrating strong knowledge of laboratory safety and explicitly teaching safe practices while delivering an engaging and challenging syllabus

• Organize and participate in field trips to facilitate active learning

• Participate in regular, purposeful science pedagogy meetings and in professional development sessions

Grade 8 English Teacher - one-year

Reporting to: the Middle School Principal

Hours: full time

This role is a one-year fixed-term position.

Overall purpose

The middle school English teacher is responsible for delivering an English curriculum in an engaging, stimulating and effective manner, using varied instructional strategies.

Summary of duties

• Teach four sections of Grade 8 English

• Serve as a Grade 8 advisor: build positive relationships with advisees and their families, deliver advisory curriculum, coach advisees with social, emotional, and academic topics, liaise with team teachers 

• Plan, teach, and assess in close alignment with grade level teaching partner

• Collaborate with grade-level team teachers to support student well-being and academic progress, as well as the advisory curriculum and various team initiatives

• Coordinate curriculum with other members of the English department, and liaise with other departments where appropriate

• Exhibit knowledge of current trends, pedagogy, research, and topics of importance in English education by applying it in the classroom and sharing it with teachers on a departmental and school-wide basis

• Monitor and evaluate students’ progress, prepare for parent conferences, complete report cards, etc.

• Take responsibility for the safety and well-being of all students at all times

• Organize and participate in field trips to facilitate active learning, including bonding days and a week-long trip abroad in May

• Participate in regular, purposeful pedagogy meetings and in professional development sessions

• Participate actively in the life of the School, through attendance at events, committee membership and leadership of co-curricular activities

• Any other duties (including lunch and recess coverage) as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by the Middle School Principal

Selection criteria

Essential qualifications/experience:

• A bachelor’s degree in English or a relevant discipline

• Substantive full-time teaching Middle School English

• Experience and commitment to working collaboratively in a team-focused environment

• Experience with differentiating instruction to meet the learning needs of all students

• Experience as an Advisor supporting the social and emotional needs of all students 

• Training and experience in intercultural competency initiatives to support diversity, equity and inclusion in the classroom and workplace

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Significant recent professional development germane to the position

• Commitment to and facility with integration of technology in the service of student learning

• Demonstrated knowledge of safeguarding practices and experience supporting student welfare

Desirable qualifications/experience:

• Experience within a standards-based curriculum

• Experience/knowledge of integrated and/or thematic instruction

• Experience in advisory, mentoring or delivering social-emotional learning curricula that support adolescent wellbeing

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Outreach Executive who is passionate about the mission of Smart Works Birmingham and committed to helping more women access the support they need to secure employment.

In this role, you will build and maintain strong relationships with referral partners across Birmingham and the Midlands, increasing awareness of our service and driving referrals. You will represent Smart Works Birmingham at community events, job fairs, networking opportunities, and stakeholder meetings, acting as a representative for the charity and identifying opportunities for partnership working.

A key part of the role will be supporting the delivery of our Empowering Diverse Communities projects, working with organisations that support women facing additional barriers to employment, including young women, women from minority ethnic communities, women with disabilities and women with offending backgrounds. JOB PURPOSE

To coordinate Dudley Lodge's impact reporting, fundraising support and business development activities across the organisation.

The postholder will support income generation by identifying funding opportunities, maintaining funding pipelines, coordinating fundraising activity, supporting funding applications and helping Dudley Lodge evidence and communicate the impact of its work to commissioners, funders, donors and stakeholders.

Working closely with the Head of Support Services, Head of Operations and Service Leads, the postholder will collect, collate and report impact and outcomes information, support fundraising and business development activities and contribute to the organisation's sustainability and growth.

Impact Reporting and Communications

• Coordinate systems for collecting, recording and reporting impact, outcomes and stakeholder feedback data across Dudley Lodge services.
• Work with Heads of Service and Service Leads to gather feedback, case studies, testimonials and other evidence of service delivery, outcomes and organisational impact.
• Coordinate feedback collection from service users, parents, family members, professionals, commissioners and stakeholders.
• Produce impact summaries, dashboards and data reports for internal and external audiences.
• Coordinate the development of Dudley Lodge's assessment and Support Services' annual impact reports.
• Support the development of systems to collect and report information relating to longer-term outcomes for families.
• Ensure impact information is accurate, accessible and available to support reporting, funding applications and service development activities.
• Support the preparation of commissioner updates, funder reports, stakeholder briefings and annual impact publications.
• Gather, collate and present information, data, case studies and outcomes to support organisational reporting and stakeholder communications.
• Prepare draft reports, updates and communications for review by Heads of Service and Service Leads.

Fundraising and Income Generation

• Support the organisation to achieve fundraising and income generation targets.
• Research and monitor trusts, foundations, corporate, statutory and tender opportunities, maintaining accurate records of prospective funders, deadlines and reporting requirements.
• Maintain an up-to-date funding pipeline and funding calendar.
• Gather and coordinate evidence, data and supporting information required for grant applications, tenders, expressions of interest and funding reports.
• Assist with the preparation and submission of funding applications and tender responses.
• Coordinate fundraising appeals and donor engagement activities.
• Draft and distribute appeal letters, donor updates and stewardship communications.
• Support funder reporting and grant monitoring requirements.
• Monitor emerging funding opportunities and sector developments and share opportunities with relevant managers.

Systems and Administration

• Maintain accurate fundraising, impact and stakeholder engagement records.
• Support the development and maintenance of databases and reporting systems.
• Coordinate surveys, consultations and feedback exercises.
• Produce regular reports to support management, governance and business development activities.
• Ensure information is recorded, stored and managed in accordance with GDPR and organisational policies.
• Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and efficiency across impact data collection and reporting, fundraising and stakeholder reporting activities.
• Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade and purpose of the role, as reasonably required by the Line Manager or to meet the needs of the organisation.

About the Role

As an Independent Victim Advocate you will be ensuring the provision of individual structured, tailored support plans, based on a holistic assessment of impact and risk, within the framework of VS's Service Model. You may make initial contact with victims of crime, explaining our services and assessing the impact of crime, or receive referrals from colleagues, in order to provide on-going support and case management.

You will develop, deliver and monitor safety and support plans for those affected by crime, who accept ongoing support. Support will include providing resources, interventions, and information to all service users. In order to:

• support those affected by crime in understanding and asserting their rights and entitlements
• understand their journey through the criminal justice and legal systems including the Victims Code of Practice
• facilitate access to additional services
• establish healthy coping mechanisms
• provide practical support and information

You will directly support service users, who may be affected by all types of crime. You may work within a specialist area, for example concentrating on one crime type, or a certain demographic of victims.

You may, in some services, be responsible for elements of volunteer management. This may include the development and case management oversight of a cohort of volunteers who will contribute to the service, in line with VS's policies and volunteering ethos and approach.
