As CFG's Policy Officer you will make an impactful contribution to CFG's policy and advocacy work. Working with a wide range of stakeholders, including policy-makers, charity members and corporate partners, you will contribute to the smooth running of the Policy Team's work and effectiveness. You will be comfortable using your research and analytical skills to ensure CFG remains at the forefront of its advocacy work on behalf of its members and the wider sector. You will have a passion for getting to grips with complex policy issues and bringing people together to engage with them. As a member of the Policy and Communications Directorate, you'll work alongside the Communications Team and other colleagues to ensure our policy work is shared with a range of external audiences. The role: 

As the Science Officer you will be the communications support for the Super Pollutants portfolio that includes the black carbon initiative. You will draw on your scientific research experience and science communications abilities, supporting projects with technical input and researching, analysing and creating unwaveringly accurate scientific communications spanning climate science and health impacts. 

You will have a knack for distilling information into actionable insight and accessible external communications – your way with words and understanding of audience demographics will ensure the clarity and impact of your messaging. 

Whilst your research background will give you the essential insight and expertise to contribute widely, this role is where your academic prowess comes to life in real-life deliverables. You will be called upon to support the design and management of research and science communication grants and projects,  to coordinate key meetings and workshops and to support Finance in how we manage cashflow and reporting. 

Throughout you will keep abreast of developments within the fields of air pollution, super pollutants and climate mitigation especially related to science and research, policy development, innovation, technology and impact analyses and portfolio relevant developments. You will never stop learning and developing your deep understanding of this subject and will inevitably become an expert. 

Your experience: 

Beyond your essential research experience in atmospheric and climate science, in particular experience working on black carbon or other super pollutants you will 

• Be able to demonstrate that you think and act strategically 

• Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to efficiently explain and discuss complex topics in layman’s terms.

Job Purpose

Increasing numbers of Disabled people are becoming aware of the fact that CYCLING might be possible for them. However, information about how/where to access cycling, the variety of possible equipment, regulations around cycling a non-standard cycle, funding avenues, etc. can be difficult to find. As the Wheels4MeLondon loan scheme starts to be marketed in Spring/Summer 2024, we anticipate increasing numbers of enquiries to reach us, including from around the UK.

With the support of the rest of the Wheels for Wellbeing team, our Specialist Advisor will become very knowledgeable about all aspects of Inclusive Cycling and will support enquirers with information and advice about the most appropriate next steps with regards to their cycling ambitions. They will provide information and advice, based on where enquirers live, their level of experience with cycling, their goals (whether they wish to try out cycling, to borrow, hire or to purchase a cycle, etc.).

Where a caller wishes to attend one of our own cycling sessions, the Advisor will support them with using our booking system. Where a caller is ready to borrow a cycle through Wheels4MeLondon, the Specialist Advisor will support callers to request a loan via the Peddle My Wheels website. Peddle My Wheels staff will then deliver the cycle to them at the agreed place and time, provide cycle training where required, and collect the cycle at the end of the loan period. For other enquiries, the Advisor will signpost callers to relevant external organisations.

To be successful in this role you need excellent listening and communication, interpersonal and organisational skills. You will love acquiring knowledge (including through online research), storing information and sharing it. You need to be confident using record keeping systems, within our data protection & privacy policy and working with people from diverse backgrounds and with a range of accessibility needs.

Job Description

1. Answering enquirers’ queries and providing information. This will include:

a. Being first point of contact for enquiries into Wheels for Wellbeing’s phone / email.

b. Actively listening to understand the detailed nature of the query and responding through the most appropriate and accessible mode of communication, whether contact is made by phone, email, instant messaging or other methods of communication.

c. Sourcing information from the rest of the Wheels for Wellbeing team and/or researching specific information for callers (where appropriate, redirecting the query to colleagues within the organisation or signposting them to other organisations).

d. Ensuring that new, useful information is stored/posted to our website for use by future enquirers.

e. Supporting people with queries about how to access Wheels for Wellbeing’s services, including support with our booking system

2. Building accessible information resources (eg: website pages, briefings, FAQ page, etc.) about Inclusive cycling, such as:

a. Inclusive cycling opportunities providers in London and around the UK

b. Types & models of non-standard cycles and specialist adaptions retailers around the UK and overseas

c. Details of the Wheels4Me London’s scheme and other inclusive cycle hire/loan schemes around the UK.

d. Funding options for Disabled people wishing to purchase their own cycles

3. Effective liaison with all Wheels4MeLondonPlus partners for successful cycle loan experience. This will include:

a. Regular communication with the Peddle My Wheels team to ensure most effective referral methods (to be developed with your input, as the scheme gets off the ground during Spring/Summer 2024)

b. Take part in project team meetings with all partners (Sustrans London; Peddle My Wheels and the rest of the WfW team).

c. Collect and store data such as numbers & types of enquiries, case studies, etc., as required for reporting to the funder.

d. Contribute to short articles, social media posts, etc. for the promotion of Wheels for Me London and Inclusive Cycling in general.

Other:

-  Contribute to the ongoing development of Wheels for Wellbeing, team meetings and organisational priorities

-Be proactive in keeping up to date with developments affecting the role

-Abide by and promote organisational policies and practices, and charity’s values

JOB PURPOSE

The role will support the research activities of Start Network and its programmes and initiatives.

Working within the Evidence & Learning team, the Research Officer will conduct research, interpret data and communicate findings across of a range of programmes and initiatives which support evidencing the impact and learning of Start Network activities. These could involve supporting in the design and administration of data collection projects; as well as cleaning, processing, and analysing primary data and literature and desk reviews. The successful applicant will require basic research skills and additional skills will be learned on the job through guidance provided by the other members of the Evidence & Learning team.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Research

• Lead and support with undertaking research, including desk reviews, conducting landscape analyses and literature reviews using a range of materials and sources, including online platforms.

• Support with the design and implementation of data collection tools for primary data (e.g., surveys, focus group discussions, and in-depth interviews) and secondary data collection.

• Work with both qualitative and quantitative data, including interview transcription, data cleaning, processing, and analysis.

• Support key teams with research and analysis for their programme and initiative areas.

As the Research Analyst you will support the provision and development of UCEA’s pay and workforce benchmarking services and a range of wider employment-related projects. You will have the opportunity to conduct in-depth quantitative and qualitative research, to communicate your findings to members and wider stakeholders. You will work with internal and external stakeholders to keep abreast of issues affecting the full range of employers across the HE sector.

You will communicate complex information clearly, both in writing and verbally. You will analyse sector data, e.g. Higher Education Statics Agency and ONS, and build and maintain benchmarking dashboards. This requires current intermediate level R skills, or clear aptitude for learning R to intermediate level, and intermediate or advanced Excel. Experience of using survey software to collect, analyse and report on bespoke quantitative surveys is essential.

As part of the Research and Publications Team, we are currently seeking a Research Team Administrator to support in the delivery of the Dementia UK Research Strategy.

The team administrator will play a crucial role in providing administrative support to the Research and Publications (R&P) team, aiding in their operational efficiency, research, and development activities. Your responsibilities will include maintaining the research and publications databases, as well as updating and managing the R&P webpages. Furthermore, you will be responsible for managing the team inbox, handling inquiries, and assisting in the management of the team budget. Purpose of the post

The Finance Business Partner plays a crucial role within HDR UK, as the key point of contact and financial support for the Institute Office teams. The Finance Business Partner supports key non- finance stakeholders to provide timely and insightful analysis and reporting and supports with the alignment of financial plans to operational and strategic priorities. The role will support the HDR UK’s non- Core funds and programmatic areas and will be responsible for proactive fund financial management, supporting the Fund budget holders in ensuring appropriate planning and utilisation of the fund expenditure. The role is responsible for maintaining clear and effective communication between the Finance team and the wider business and for ensuring that financial concepts and priorities are understood by the programme teams.

Main responsibilities

• Work with Budget Holders to manage financial performance, forecasts, and budgeting including understanding financial opportunities and risk for the area of business partnership.
• Hold responsibility for the financial management of a number of large and strategic funds, including financial reporting to funders and maximising fund utilisation.
• Lead on monthly reporting to Programme teams, including posting month end journals, meeting with Budget Holders to discuss performance and budget variance and providing commentary and analysis on reports.
• Work with the Associate Directors of the Finance team to plan, deliver, and review the annual budget and quarterly forecasts.
• Support with the continuous review and update of the 5-year financial plan.
• Support with projects and new process development to continuously improve and evolve our approach to internal financial reporting and modern finance business partnering.
• Support the Finance Business Partnering function with ad hoc reports and grant management and reporting.

Experience

• CCAB qualified or part qualified, or with a minimum of 4 years practical experience in financial analysis or business partnering roles.

The successful candidate will be provided with the opportunity to gain a deep understanding of how market-based sustainability tools such as standards are catalysing global efforts to advance on critical social and economic sustainability issues. ISEAL supports sustainability standards and similar market-based sustainability systems to improve their impacts on people and planet.  ISEAL’s Credibility Principles and Codes of Good Practice are used globally to guide the development of credible sustainability systems and to evaluate the credibility of sustainability claims. 

The main objective of the ISEAL´s impacts and research work is to gather, share, generate and disseminate credible and compelling research that helps ISEAL and its stakeholders understand the impacts and effectiveness of market-based sustainability approaches such as the use of standards, company approaches and other voluntary tools. A key mechanism to achieve this vision is the Evidensia platform evidensia(.)eco launched with partners in 2019. The maintenance, upkeep and growth of Evidensia as an independent and credible public good tool to share results and learning on market-based tools is a key responsibility this role.

The position will provide administrative and coordination support to the team and workstream including supporting research tracking, coding, delivery of learning events, communications, project management on special research projects and liaison with other ISEAL teams on collaborative work. Specific project assignments will change over time as ISEAL’s project portfolio evolves.

The position will be based in ISEAL’s Impacts and Evidence workstream which sits within the Policy and Engagement Team.

Key Responsibilities we will entrust you with:

Project coordination and delivery support

• Coordinate project management processes, including implementation of procurement procedures, drafting contracts with consultants (based on ISEAL templates) and maintaining project-related systems
• Carry out background research, review documents, and gather and analyse information using templates and tools such as Excel
• Liaise with select external project partners to share updates and ensure smooth project management
• Contribute to outreach to project stakeholders, Community Members, partners & event attendees, answering and directing queries and scheduling appointments and virtual/ in-person meetings

Evidensia platform, communication and events

• Monitor and track relevant research for the Evidensia platform
• Code and upload content and resources onto the Evidensia platform
• Create social media content for Evidensia channels with guidance from manager
• Support production of team reports and research products
• Coordinate event and meeting logistics, both virtual and in person, and preparation of agendas, communication with participants etc.
• Support event and meeting delivery, including technical support, taking notes, follow up actions and dissemination of post event communications
• Liaise with other teams within ISEAL and with ISEAL members to share new research and provide updates on latest work
• Support drafting and production of relevant newsletters, website articles, and reports

Research, analysis and writing

• Carry out background and desk research support as needed for the team on Evidensia or special research projects
• Proof-read, edit, design, and format documents in Word and Powerpoint, using ISEAL templates
• Prepare slides and other communication material for the team for meetings

Experience, Knowledge and Attributes

• Experience working in a policy or research/analysis support role, in a highly collaborative environment such as an international NGO
• Understanding of sustainability systems and how they work to help deliver change
• Experience and comfort working with subject matter of a niche or specialist nature, possibly gained through data analysis, project communications, and/or the review and analysis of data sets, academic research, technical reports, and policy documents

Role Description

This new role of Programme Officer (Social Change) will play an integral part in ensuring our grant making has the best possible impact. Working with the Programme Manager (Social Change) and the wider Impact Team, you will be the first point of contact for potential grant applicants and deliver effective processes that ensure that anyone who applies to us for funding has a positive experience, whether they are successful or not. You will lead on all aspects of administering our Social Change grant calls and provide the rest of the team with the information needed to support robust and transparent decision-making. Role Responsibilities:

Administering grant processes:

· Working with the Programme Manager (Social Change) to update application and guidance forms for each funding round

· Work closely with colleagues to set up the grant call in our online grant management system.

· Provide guidance to potential applicants and respond to their queries, e.g. about eligibility.

· Work with colleagues who run the research funding programme to ensure that opportunities for efficiencies and shared processes are maximised

· Process grant applications, ensuring that we adhere to the highest standards of grant making

· Assist with the preparation of papers to support our decision-making processes, including supporting our Social Change Grants Assessment Panel (SGAP) by ensuring they have all relevant information and that the meetings run smoothly.

ARMA (UK) is the professional association for research management in the UK. We currently have around 3,5000 individual members from 250 organisations, ranging from universities and research institutes to research funders and the National Health Service.

This role will be responsible for the effective delivery of ARMA’s scheduled and ad hoc training and development events (c25 per year) and our mentoring programme.

This role will work closely with our Qualifications and Member Engagement Officers, various working groups and our volunteer trainers to support them to deliver high quality training, that meets our members needs.
