About the role
In this role you will provide expert support to the Finance team providing financial analysis, delivery of financial month end tasks, production of management reports and assisting in the budgeting and forecasting processes, which will enable key stakeholders to make the best decisions, taking into account the financial impact, the most effective use of resources and alignment to our corporate strategic objectives.

You will build strong relations with the Finance colleagues you support, providing financial reporting and management information, and advising on operational issues and processes.

You will provide analysis and scrutiny of financial outcomes and other indicators of business performance to inform decision making.
 

About you
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

• Previous experience of financial analysis and reporting in a large organisation.
• Good Microsoft Excel skills with demonstrated financial analysis on large data sets.
• Technical finance knowledge and ability to use accounting and office software packages.
• Building and maintaining relationships and influence across a variety of stakeholders.
• An accountancy qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent) is beneficial but not essential.

• Experience of financial compliance including demonstrable experience of actively setting and managing budgets, preparing cashflow projections and working with financial reports – this experience is likely to have been gained over at least 3 years’ active, first-hand participation.

• Demonstrate clear understanding of Charity Code and governance obligations including Charity Commission requirements and charity law.

The Opportunity

The EdTech Evidence Lead will play a key role in delivering one of our key projects, focusing on EdTech Evidence. Drawing on their experience and knowledge of EdTech, they will support EdTech companies and educators to build understanding about gathering and evaluating evidence for different EdTech products. They will develop guidance and materials to facilitate this, and work with internal colleagues and external stakeholders to develop resources, systems and processes that aim to promote and recognise ‘high-quality’ evidence around EdTech. 

Main responsibilities include:

• Developing tools and resources to support individuals and organisations to engage with, and in, gathering and evaluating evidence around EdTech
• Developing guidance and training which helps EdTech companies plan and carry out evidence-gathering activities for their products and prepares them to submit evidence for formal review
• Contributing to the development and delivery of processes and systems for formally reviewing EdTech evidence
• Build relationships with EdTech companies and other key stakeholders to understand their use of evidence relating to EdTech and engage them with the project
• Liaising with a range of stakeholders to promote the use of EdTech evidence and seek input into the design and development of key project deliverables
• Representing the project externally to promote engagement with both the project, and with EdTech evidence generally
• Leading on the delivery of key project deliverables and monitoring progress towards these.

Additionally:

• Attending and participate in CPD learning activities and training to maintain and develop your knowledge and skills 
• Arranging and participate in meetings, as required
• Performing other activities as and when required in order to fulfil the purpose and requirements of the role.

Essential knowledge and experience

• Knowledge and understanding of the EdTech sector and marketplace
• Knowledge and understanding of research relating to education technology and approaches to evaluating its effectiveness and impact

Desirable knowledge and experience

• Degree/Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field
• A good understanding of the English school system including an understanding of evidence-informed practice and digital pedagogy
• Knowledge of designing or writing guidance or training materials
• Knowledge and/or experience of accreditation/ certification/evaluation of individuals, organisations or products

You will also demonstrate:

• strong verbal and written communication skills
• highly effective organisational skills, with ability to manage a demanding and varied workload
• confident user of technology including e.g. Microsoft suite or Google suite

Details of Job

The Systems and Administration Officer will be responsible for the effective running of Heart of the City’s systems and administrative processes, ensuring that digital tools are utilised in the most effective way, and governance, finance and business support processes are delivered efficiently.

The post holder will manage the delivery of key IT, finance, governance and administrative processes. This includes ensuring the legal compliance, effectiveness and security of cloud services and software used by the team, supporting the director with financial planning and administration and managing calendars, governance systems and general correspondence. The post-holder will also be a key contact point both internally and externally; this includes senior stakeholders on the Board of Trustees and Council of Members. They will also support the team with day-to-day office management and queries with software and cloud service usage, with a view to streamlining systems where possible.

The Insight Analyst will work with the Insight Manager to collect, analyse, and present data and insight to BUCS staff, members and other stakeholders. The Insight Analyst will also take the lead on key projects that support the Insight Manager to deliver the overall data and insight strategy.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience working in insight, market research or a similar field. They will be confident with a range of data collection and analysis methods, have experience of deriving high-quality insights from quantitative and qualitative data, and be able to present these insights to non-specialist audiences in a clear, actionable way.

We are looking for an outgoing and self-motivated individual to help drive and develop vision, mission and strategy to progress the youth work of both the Schools and College Pastors initiatives under the Ascension Trust umbrella and as lead for the Synergy Network.

The focus in this role:

• Coordinating and supporting the Schools and College Pastor initiatives and developing strategies to grow and strengthen the work of our teams and also to promote the network and collaborations with other organisations.
• Enthuse and engage with stakeholders who want to work to combat serious youth violence, including faith groups, police and public sector.
• Develop and implement a future strategy for School and College Pastors and the Synergy Network.
• Develop funding bids for future initiatives such as the prevention of serious youth violence, working with the Youth Endowment Fund, Violence Reduction Units, and developing funding streams for the School and College Pastor initiatives with appropriate funding bodies.
• Develop vision, strategy and training for growth in new and existing initiatives.
• Develop and maintain a communications strategy for the Synergy Network, including events organisation, website and social media maintenance.
• Support the Synergy Network board by organising events, maintaining the website and social media platforms.

• Lead the delivery of our individually tailored befriending service, supporting clients to reconnect to community and reduce isolation.

• Use and support the team of existing befriending linked volunteers and develop further recruitment and training as needed.
