The Degrees Initiative is a UK-based NGO that builds the capacity of the Global South to evaluate solar radiation modification (SRM) geoengineering, a controversial proposal for reducing some impacts of climate change by reflecting sunlight away from the Earth. Role
The Events Officer will coordinate and support the planning and delivery of Degrees’ international events, including workshops bringing together Degrees-funded researchers, policymakers and other stakeholders, and the biennial Degrees Global Forum. Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, the Events Officer will help ensure high-quality events that strengthen collaboration, showcase research outcomes, facilitate engagement with policymakers and advance Degrees’ mission to build capacity in the Global South to engage equitably in SRM deliberations.

They now have an opportunity for an Admissions Avoidance Coordinator to join them to work closely with people who have experienced mental health difficulties and are being supported through BSMHFT Children’s and Young People Community Hubs and Crisis services.
The main aim of the service is to offer an individualised service with a focus on the prevention of hospital admission and provide support for service users.
You will work closely with the other Discharge Coordinators providing support cover when required and you’ll work closely with BSMHFT CYP staff to identify individuals who are at risk of escalation because of hardships including social and environmental factors.
These individuals will be supported via the service through a person-centered approach that focuses on maintaining and strengthening the person’s wellbeing and enabling people to build their own resilience reducing crisis escalation.
They are looking for someone with experience of working in a paid role in the mental health field, with experience of supporting people age 18 – 25 to be in control of their lives.
You’ll have knowledge and experience of carrying out needs & risk assessments and you’ll have a good overall understanding of the social determinants of poor mental health and interventions to effect positive outcomes.
A full UK driving licence and use of a vehicle is also desirable but not essential.

The region’s leading charity in tackling violence against women and girls, BSWA offers a helpline, webchat, drop in and and community support as well as emergency accommodation in six refuges across the area.
Projects supports women in the criminal justice system, in healthcare settings, and throughout the community, offering support to women and children experiencing domestic violence. Alongside this, we also have staff offering training and consultancy to businesses and health and social care professionals alike, raising awareness on gender based violence issues.
We seek like-minded women to join our enthusiastic team of workers, all of us passionate about the vital and valuable work we do to support women and children who have experienced domestic abuse, and tackling the wider issues of violence against women and girls.
Key Responsibilities -
To ensure BSWA’s refuge accommodation is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and maintenance, creating a safe and welcoming environment for women and children.
This post will be is to cover one of our Birmingham refuges, but some cover may be required at any of our refuge sites (in Birmingham and Solihull) from time to time.
The 22 hours will need to be worked primarily over 5 days and between the hours of 9am and 5pm.
Experience Required -
Of carrying out health and safety checks to comply with legislation and organisational needs.
Of working in a residential setting to ensure that the building is well cleaned and maintained.

Of providing practical and emotional support to women and children affected by domestic violence
Of offering advice and information and advocating for service users on a range of issues including homelessness, benefits, legal, social welfare issues etc
Of developing and maintaining effective working relationships with external agencies
Of working within safeguarding guidelines to protect and promote the well-being of children and vulnerable adults
