How you will make a difference

As Senior Programme Officer, I will support the Head of Commercial Insight & Development to ensure Mental Health UK delivers high quality projects and programmes that:

• Meet the aims and objectives of our 2025-30 strategy.
• Are strategically aligned with the needs and expectations of our four founding charities.
• Deliver for all stakeholders, including funding partners and beneficiaries.

In this role, I will support the Head of Commercial Insight & Development to identify opportunities to grow and expand our existing programmes. I will work with the Communications and Marketing Team to identify opportunities throughout our programmes to demonstrate our impact as an organisation.

I will oversee the day-to-day delivery of projects within Mental Health UK’s portfolio, supporting colleagues across Mental Health UK and the four founding charities to ensure outputs are delivered on time and to budget, and outcomes are achieved as planned.

Uplift supports efforts to create a rapid and fair transition away from oil and gas production in the UK. We strategically support, connect and elevate ideas and voices to set in motion a just transition away from fossil fuel production commensurate with the scale of the climate crisis. 

The Role

As Principal Legal Adviser (Maternity cover), you will collaborate with Uplift’s team and key partners to ensure that our collective work is underpinned by robust and forward-thinking legal and policy analysis. From identifying strategic litigation opportunities to advancing law reform advocacy, this is a diverse role that is key to our work.

Uplift has taken and supported high-profile climate litigation and used legal insight to generate front-page headlines linked to our campaigns. Most recently, we have won the legal case against the Rosebank oil field in the North Sea. We have also generated legal analysis to support a wider network to participate in vital public consultation processes.

The successful candidate will have exceptional legal and advocacy skills, an ability to think strategically about law and policy opportunities, and a keen interest in climate and energy-related policy and campaigns. A strong commitment to Uplift's mission and core values is also required.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include:

Strategy and leadership

• Responsible for the development and implementation of Uplift’s legal strategy.
• Lead the development of Uplift’s strategic legal work, including litigation, law reform advocacy, and legal advice and analysis, that advances Uplift’s objectives.
• Lead the delivery of work programmes - including management of diverse and complex litigation and associated legal campaigns/communications - in line with Uplift’s legal strategy.
• Identify and shape strategic litigation opportunities, providing legal analysis and support to external lawyers and experts throughout.

Analysis and legal advocacy

• Develop legal analysis to support campaign, communications and research strategies, including support for key partners.
• Analyse, interpret, and synthesise legal and policy developments to support the politics team and advise our network.
• Track ongoing legal and policy developments across Uplift’s core areas of interest to identify key opportunities and gaps.
• Provide fact-checking and ad-hoc legal research for the Uplift team to ensure accuracy in Uplift’s public communications.

Management and staff support

• Manage a team to deliver Uplift’s legal strategy and objectives, including Legal & Policy Adviser and Legal Campaigns Coordinator.
• Manage sub-grants, sub-contractors and arrangements with external lawyers where relevant.
• Oversee financial and budget management of key legal work programmes and campaigns, with support from Uplift’s senior management team. 
• Provide ad hoc high-level legal guidance and advice to Uplift’s senior management team on operational matters.

Our ideal candidate will have: 

• Experience in a similar or related role.
• A formal legal qualification, with a strong preference for previous experience in strategic litigation. Legal expertise in an area relevant to Uplift’s legal work is essential: environmental or climate law, public law (including administrative law) and/or just energy transitions.
• Experience of working and advising on policy areas linked to Uplift’s agenda would be a significant asset.
• A demonstrable ability to provide compelling and novel analysis, including defining and executing strategic legal projects.
• Motivation, initiative, exceptionally high standards, a collaborative approach, and associated qualities are needed to work in a dynamic organisation with an ambitious agenda.
• A strong commitment to Uplift’s mission and core values of equity and climate justice.

Introduction

Iswe is a social impact foundation dedicated to finding ways to put people at the heart of social and political decision-making to solve some of society’s greatest challenges. 

We are looking for a hands-on Product Manager to lead the delivery and ongoing development of Assemblis - a hugely ambitious global platform to strengthen community-led decision-making - as it moves from a working prototype to a fully fledged product used by community groups worldwide.

The period from 2025 to 2026 presents a unique opportunity to scale the use and impact of Assemblis around the COP30 UN Climate Conference—set to take place in the Amazon at the end of 2025—by leveraging strategic relationships, including key support from the Brazilian government.

Assemblis will support communities across the world to run community gatherings, deliberate on shared challenges, and make collective decisions. The platform combines step-by-step guidance, storytelling features and data aggregation, enabling community groups to deliberate meaningfully, share their insights and connect with each other.  Our vision:

Assemblis will support people to deliberate on challenges and act together in their communities, whilst building a global picture of citizen needs, actions and solutions, which will inform global decision making. One of the ways it will do this is through the Global Citizens’ Assembly - a permanent institution that Iswe and partners are building.

A Global Citizens’ Assembly for COP30 to be launched in Brazil in November is the key opportunity to pilot Assemblis. We are about to test a minimum viable product (functional prototype) with small sets of global users, and are looking for someone who can lead the iteration process, with the goal of an alpha launch in Climate Week in September.

About the role

You’ll take a user-centred approach to shaping the product, balancing strategic vision with on-the-ground experimentation. You’ll lead, and help to build, a small, agile team, currently a developer, researcher/product designer and data specialists, working closely with a wider team of deliberation specialists, content creators and a strong network of global partners. 

You will play a key role in defining the roadmap, testing features with real-world users and ensuring Assemblis becomes a powerful, trusted tool for citizen-led change.

We are open to full-time or part-time applicants, depending on experience and availability.
 

Main duties

• Lead product delivery: Own the product vision and roadmap, ensuring features meet user needs and align with organisational goals.

• User-centred design: Champion a user-first approach through ongoing testing, feedback loops, and engagement with a diverse global user base.

• Team leadership: Lead and support a small cross-functional team; identify and recruit additional roles as needed.

• Technical direction: Work with developers to make key decisions on technology architecture, infrastructure, and tools, ensuring scalability and sustainability.

• Stakeholder collaboration: Work closely with Iswe’s internal leads to ensure strategic alignment, and global partners (civic groups, movement partners, and research collaborators) to incorporate their needs into the platform.

• Governance and data: Embed deliberative values in product choices, including data ethics, privacy, accessibility, and transparency.

• Business model development: Support the development and testing of a sustainable income-generating model for Assemblis, while ensuring accessibility and alignment with Iswe’s mission.

• Agile processes: Implement lightweight product management processes (e.g. sprints, prioritisation frameworks, documentation) to maintain momentum and clarity.

• Working in the open: Publish regular blog/weeknotes content to communicate about the work to ensure transparency and inspire healthy criticism and collaboration.
   

About you

You might come from a digital agency, a startup, a civic organisation, or a product-led nonprofit. Essential skills and experience

• Strong product management experience in digital platforms, tools or services

• Passion for civic technology and democratic innovation

• Good knowledge of the technologies shaping deliberative democracy, such as facilitation tools, decision-making platforms, participatory budgeting systems, emerging AI tools, etc.

• Creative and bold; willing to listen to competing opinions, ask questions and raise healthy challenges 

• Self reflective; able to give and receive feedback well

• Experience managing or collaborating with cross-functional teams

• Excellent communication skills, both internally and externally

• Able to be an ambassador for the product, speaking persuasively to partners and stakeholders

• Ruthless and pragmatic prioritisation and strong project management skills

• Comfortable working in a startup-style environment (adaptable, proactive, solutions-oriented)

• Experience building online tools or platforms

Salary, Benefits & Working Conditions

• Salary:  £55-70k per annum, depending on experience

• Hours: Full-time or part-time (minimum 4 days/week); UK adjacent hours

• Location: Remote (occasional UK in-person meetups)

• Leave: 35 days holiday plus UK bank holidays (pro-rata if part-time); 14 days medical leave

This is an opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join a small but determined team.  Working closely with the wider charity team, this role offers a real opportunity to see the impact that your work has on the children and families we support and to grow our fundraising reach within your geographical region.

The geographical region will cover anything west of Bridgend and up to Aberystwyth. Ideally, candidates would be based in the Carmarthen/Llanelli area. This is a home-based role, with frequent travel throughout Wales, and monthly travel to Cardiff.

Scope of role

This recently created role within the Noah’s Ark Charity, which will grow our regional community fundraising presence and offering.  The postholder will know the West Wales area well and will become the expert in fundraising opportunities within the region, building strong relationships within the community, including companies and will develop supporter-led activity. The postholder will plan for and deliver income for the charity within the region, in line with wider fundraising strategy. 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Income generation

- To plan for and deliver income to target through key performance indicators as agreed with community fundraising manager.

- To develop new supporter relationships within the community, in a planned way, to achieve income and provide excellent supporter care to ensure the relationship is ongoing, beyond one-off support for the charity.

- To lead on and deliver community fundraising within the region, through relationships with patient families, third party fundraisers, community groups, schools and education establishments and public bodies.

- To build strong corporate partnerships within the region, to an agreed income level, with the support of the community fundraising manager and head of fundraising and development.

- To lead on key projects to develop income generation.

- To contribute to the strategic development of community fundraising.

- Plan and deliver events in the community where necessary.

- Secure and deliver engaging presentations to groups and organisations.

2. Ambassador programme

- To build the family ambassador programme within the region, growing the network of key supporters who will represent and be the face of the charity within their local community.

- Support the community fundraising manager with the development of the ambassador programme including training and thanking opportunities.

3. Supporter experience

- To champion consistent and excellent supporter care.

- To record all communications accurately on the database, ensuring information is gathered and recorded in accordance with the requirements of the data protection act, GDPR and the charity’s data protection policy.

- To respond to supporter enquiries in a timely manner and deal with complaints, escalating as appropriate.

- To deliver an excellent supporter journey and contribute to the central supporter journey for community fundraising. 

4. Cross team working

- To work collaboratively with fundraising colleagues across the team to deliver wider fundraising income and charity objectives.  For example, gifts in wills, regular giving, event participation, volunteering and communications.

5. Budgets

- Work with the community fundraising manager and head of fundraising and development, to build and manage a detailed fundraising budget, including income and expenditure.

- Provide forecasts throughout the year, for agreed streams of income.

6. Best practice

- Ensure all fundraising practice is in line with organisational guidelines and policies.

- Encourage and champion compliance and best practice within the fundraising team.

- Ensure own compliance with fundraising standards and requirements, keeping up to date with key policies and regulations, including the fundraising regulator, chartered institute of fundraising and the charity commission.

7. Undertake any other duties which might be required to fulfil the general purpose of the post.
