We're looking for an Administration Assistant to support an efficient administrative centre for The Bishop of Birmingham's ministry.
The Office of the Bishop of Birmingham provides efficient administration to support the work and ministry of The Bishop of Birmingham as he leads The Church of England - Birmingham in its vision of "Growing Churches at the Heart of Every Community".
The role is varied and demanding, requiring a calm and patient approach and a high degree of organisational and administrative skills. Key working relationships are with The Bishop and his family, the Bishop's Chaplain, the Office and Site Manager and Executive Assistant and the rest of the team in the Bishops' Office, and, more widely, with a wide variety of people locally, nationally and internationally.
Duties will include:
- Assisting in arranging official hospitality by the bishop as required and sharing in welcoming visitors to the Bishop's Office.
- Acting as the first point of contact for the wide range and high volume of internal and external telephone calls, emails and other enquiries for the Bishops' Office.
- Keeping confidential clergy personal files up-to-date, tidy, and well-organised.
Key role requirements:
- This role is part-time, working 14 hours per week, to be worked on a Monday & Thursday

Job Title: Membership Operations Administrator
Reports To: Membership Operations Manager
Salary: £26,000 per annum
Contract: Full time, Fixed Term Contract until 31st January 2026 (with potential to extend).
Hours: A full working week is 35 hours and we offer flexibility with hours.

The Opportunity
We are looking for a highly-motivated and organised Membership Operations Administrator to join the charity. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to develop their customer service and administrative skills.

Main areas of work

- Generate regular reports on membership to inform organisational KPI reporting
Additional areas of work
- Provide administrative support during the Fellowship process
- Process invoices as part of group account management
- Provide event administration support, including uploading events to our websites, participant management, data entry and preparing materials for face-to-face events
- Alongside your main areas of work, you will also participate in meetings and be encouraged to participate in CPD learning activities and training to maintain and develop your knowledge and skills.
About You
You don’t need to have expertise in absolutely all areas, but we’re looking for someone who is motivated by our mission, enjoys interacting with people on a range of tasks and is passionate about providing great customer service. Systems you would be using include Google Workspace, Salesforce, Wordpress, Moodle, Submittable, Eventbrite, Zoom and Slack.
Experience and skills
Essential:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience of delivering high quality customer service, managing relationships with customers or other stakeholders and providing an excellent experience
- Confident user of technology (email, online meeting tools and Microsoft Office / Google Workspace or similar); comfortable with learning new technology systems
- Experience of administration / office work
- Excel and data analysis skills

- Experience of Salesforce or other CRM systems

Senior Housing and Welfare Advice Worker - The Manna Society
Job Description
Who we are
The Manna Society is an ecumenical Christian organisation and registered Charity. It runs the Manna Day Centre at 12 Melior Street, London, SE1 3QP, the largest day centre working with homeless & vulnerable people in the London Borough of Southwark.
What we do
The Manna Day Centre, a drop-in Centre for homeless and long-term unemployed single men and women, is run by a team of project workers under the Director, who are responsible for its smooth operation. Basic Services offered include food, showers, clothing, housing & welfare advice, medical care, and access to laptops. The Centre opens to the service users 7 days a week, 8.30 a.m. – 1.30 p.m.
The Advice & Welfare team functions centre around finding accommodation, welfare benefits, debt management, sustainment of tenancies and support in becoming “job-ready”. Clients may approach us with other issues, and it will be the Advice & Welfare team’s collective responsibility to decide whether the matter can be managed within the team or requires external input/expertise e.g. immigration issues and refer/signpost accordingly. The focus is on delivering practical solutions to client issues.
Our advice sessions run from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm. The sessions offer a mix of appointments and drop-in opportunities for existing users of the Advice & Welfare service and those who are new to the service
Working Hours
The working week for this particular post is Monday to Friday, 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. each day. Annual leave is 25 days plus time in lieu of bank holidays worked. The annual salary for this post ranges from £33,775 to to £41,359. The starting salary will be dependent on your experience.
Reporting
The Manna Society operates in a collegiate manner but ultimately the Director is responsible for all staff matters. The Manna Society is an Equal Opportunities employer. Responsibilities – Advice & Welfare Work
a) Lead and manage other members of the team through supervision, advice & welfare meetings etc in coming to agreement on implementation of policies and procedures tasks and pathways for client cases.
b) To manage a caseload of clients as agreed with the Director and the Advice & Welfare team representing/advocating for the client, as necessary
c) To help develop partnership and networking opportunities to expand our repertoire of providers in housing and other key areas
d) Keep up to date with appropriate legislation and policies. In doing so, attend relevant training to deliver “best advice” and make recommendations/research required training for other members of the Advice & Welfare team
e) Write reports and deliver statistics on your clients as required
f) Maintain confidential records and administrative systems including database, block grants and petty cash systems amongst others
g) Contribute newsletter articles on a quarterly basis
h) Attend team meetings of all staff as required
i) Ensure compliance with all society policies relating to Advice & Welfare and the centre
Responsibilities – Administration
As the senior worker in the team, you will be expected to assume responsibility/provide support in the following areas:
a) Providing statistical analysis and reporting as required by LB Southwark grant which supports the cost of running the Advice & Welfare team in part
b) Providing ad-hoc reports/case studies to support external grant applications on behalf of the society
c) Support the Safeguarding Lead (the Director) in producing the Safeguarding policy and associated materials, ensure that the Advice & Welfare Team have up to date Safeguarding and Prevent training
d) Manage all formal Subject Access requests in line with the Data Protection Act 2018 and support members of the team undertaking SARs on behalf of Advice & Welfare clients
e) Manage and disseminate all private rented property vacancies to the curated list of recipients on a daily basis
f) Assume responsibility for the database to maximise efficiency and ensure that all records are maintained to enable production of reports
g) Maintain all grant spreadsheets for accuracy and in readiness for annual accounts/audits
h) Be responsible for managing regular Advice & Welfare meetings and subsequent actions arising from those meetings
i) Prepare Advice and Welfare presentations for bi-monthly management committee and attend said meetings
These are the principal responsibilities. However, the Director may require staff members to undertake other duties, as and when circumstances dictate – for example, staff/volunteer shortages, holidays, special occasions, etc.

Digital Acquisition and Fundraising

Develop and implement acquisition campaigns and activity to attract new supporters through social platforms, both paid and unpaid, search engine advertising, and email marketing. As well as novel and innovative platforms and opportunities as identified.

Database and Compliance

Skills and Competencies
Our ideal candidate would have the following:

Proven experience in digital acquisition for charity or social cause, or in paid digital marketing or advertising in commercial roles. With demonstrable campaign management experience and expertise setting up and managing campaigns in Meta business suite, Google paid advertising and email marketing.

Evidence of leading successful digital / integrated digital campaigns leading to significant sales/income/lead generation.

The ability to motivate and inspire audiences through content and creative writing and storytelling for digital channels.

The ability to monitor and manage income and expenditure against targets as well as forecast and report on digital campaigns across all channels.

Knowledge and experience of trends and dynamics in digital fundraising (ideally), including audience identification and optimisation strategies including with new technologies like AI tools.

Experience and a track record of working on landing page optimisation and on-site conversion funnel improvements.

A good understanding of individual giving best practices, trends, and regulatory requirements.

Experience moderating digital campaigns or working with others to do so (knowledge of issues and best practice) and providing excellent supporter/customer support as needed.

A strong desire to provide excellent supporter experience and customer journeys to everyone who encounters our campaigns and communications or who gets in touch with us directly.

The Internal Auditor role will undertake internal audit assignments, develop country-specific internal audit processes or thematic internal audits and work with our London and global teams to support external audit processes in countries of operation, oversee the global audit register, and with teams across the organisation advance effective financial management performance across the organisation
Job purpose:
Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Director of Finance and Operations, the post holder will undertake internal audit assignments and compliance reviews aimed at improving Saferworld’s internal systems and processes. The post-holder will also support the development of financial controls and build the capacity of finance and operational teams to implement them effectively.
The role requires a high level of initiative; proven skills and experience in project management; experience working collaboratively with others to achieve our vision; and strong communication and problem-solving skills.
The post-holder will have a successful track record in designing and leading internal audit processes and strengthening control systems, preferable at a complex organisation with multiple country offices/business units. Additional experience working with offices/partners in/on conflict affected contexts is highly desirable.
Roles and responsibilities:
Plan and carry out internal audits
- Draw up a yearly Internal Audit Plan based on key risks and an assessment of audit needs and agree it with the CEO in consultation with the Director of Finance and Operations and Director of Policy and Programmes.
- Carry out internal audit assignments across departments, projects, and programmes to assess compliance with financial policies, donor agreements, and statutory regulations, including negotiating terms of reference with relevant system/area owners, preparing reports, presenting the findings to the Senior Leadership, and following up on recommendations.
- Review financial transactions and accounting records, including data from SUN, to ensure accuracy and integrity.
- Support necessary pre-audit preparation work related to external audits (both statutory and project audit) and assist the teams in ensuring smooth audit.
- Maintain the organisation’s register of grant and project audits, ensuring that audit findings recommendations are clearly documented and shared.
- Monitor the implementation of these recommendations and follow up on corrective actions to ensure timely and effective solution.
- Carry out special investigations, as required by the Saferworld CEO or Senior Operational Team (SOT).

- Produce an annual review of the overall effectiveness of Saferworld’s systems of internal control and make recommendations and arrangements for identification and management of risks and produce an annual plan to address these areas.

This is an opportunity to join Refuge as a Floating Support Worker to provide high quality practical and emotional support to survivors of domestic abuse and their children living in our dispersed refuge accommodation in Warwickshire. This service will provide emergency accommodation across Warwickshire with high-quality domestic abuse support, ‘by-and-for’ services for survivors of domestic abuse and their children.
The post holder will provide high quality support and safety planning to survivors and their children who are fleeing domestic abuse. This includes enabling survivors to access housing, welfare, benefits and legal advice. A key requirement is to provide personal welfare support and to ensure that survivors are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment in accordance with Refuge’s philosophical principles.
The Floating Support Worker (FSW) will carry a caseload of survivors of domestic abuse to enable them to provide a more holistic and intensive support package. They will work closely with survivors from the point of crisis through to move on from the emergency accommodation. FSWs will work in partnership with both statutory and voluntary sector partners to ensure that the whole range of survivors’ needs are met.
