Job Title: Training Officer
Location: Belfast or Sligo (with responsibilities in both regions)
Salary: £28,000/€32,200 per annum pro rata
Hours: 20 hours per week
Role Brief:
This is an exciting new role for an enthusiastic and innovative professional seeking to further their career in the training and youth development field. The post holder will be responsible for delivering a range of workshops, seminars and accreditations as part of our cross-border PEACE Academy programme in Belfast and Sligo, funded by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB)
The aim of this new three-year programme, is to deliver and evidence a PEACE Academy pathway of engagement, learning, social action and employability that will inspire young people from communities in Northern Ireland and Ireland to create shared experiences and build a long-term response to sectarianism, racism and hate on a cross community and cross border basis.
We are seeking an experienced training professional who can lead on delivering our training offer for young people across these regions; supporting our youth workers to progress them from grassroots activities delivered in community settings through workshops, training, and accreditation and into onward career initiatives and pathways offered by our partners.
KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Planning and administration of a range of workshops, seminars, and accreditations for young people in Sligo and Belfast in line with agreed targets.

Working with our regional coordinators on arranging suitable venues, support staff, resources and materials required for each workshop/seminar/course.

Delivery and assessment of training courses through Open College Network including internal verification.
-
Maintaining our iPads and online learner portal, ensuring e-workbooks are completed and uploaded and devices are wiped clean after each use.

Working with our wider project team on the administrative training function ensuring all e-workbooks are submitted in a timely manner, certificates distributed and invoices are sent to our Finance Officer marked clearly for this programme.

Working with regional Coordinators on the development of careers events and initiatives alongside a range of partner organisations and employers.

Collating and sharing key quantitative output data and qualitative feedback and case studies with our regional Coordinators and Monitoring Officer enabling them to track progress against targets and upload dedicated learner information to our VIEWs monitoring software in a timely and efficient manner.

As an experienced professional with a proven track record in learning and development, and management, you will be part of a Learning Network (LN), within the Ministries and Learning team and part of the Connexional Team of The Methodist Church.
The LN comprises 30+ staff working as part of a single team operating across the Methodist Church in Britain. The team is strategically and collaboratively managed by Learning and Development Managers (LDMs), each having responsibility for a number of Learning and Development Officers (LDO) working within a geographical area. We are seeking to recruit an LDM for the Cymru Wales, West Midlands and South West area. There is a requirement to live within this geography that includes the Methodist districts: Wales Synod Cymru, West Midlands (following the merger of the current Birmingham District and the Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury District on 1st September 2025), Southampton, Channel Islands, Bristol, and South West Peninsular.
Responsibilities of the Learning Development Manager include:
- strategic shared leadership of the LN
- leading and managing the LDOs, balancing the needs and expectations of lay and ordained
- developing, implementing and reviewing, alongside other LDMs and the Director of Ministry Learning, the strategic work plan of the LN
- building and maintaining good relationships across the Connexional Team and with individuals and communities across the church and beyond

We are looking for someone who has:
- proven experience of coordinating and managing a dispersed team of staff and volunteers

The Learning and Skills Development Co-Ordinator will lead on developing a program of training, learning, volunteering and work experience for the residents of Homeless Oxfordshire that increase self esteem, engagement and motivation. LEAP is built on the foundation of strong, supportive relationships that empower residents to move towards stable, independent living. Through one-to-one key worker support, trauma-informed care, and community engagement, residents rebuild trust, form friendships, and gain confidence. Activities like gardening, arts and crafts, and creative writing foster connection and personal growth, while group involvement helps residents feel part of a wider community. LEAP also supports residents to take steps into peer mentoring, volunteering, and training, helping them build positive networks beyond their immediate circle and develop the skills and confidence to thrive independently.
At LEAP, community involvement is at the heart of their work. Empowering residents through co-production is a key organisational goal. Over three years, the project aims to support 750 individuals. Through a wide range of engaging and meaningful activities, residents will experience positive outcomes such as increased confidence, self-esteem, and a sense of inclusion. They will build supportive networks, learn key life skills and access training, volunteering, and employment opportunities. Many will gain qualifications and secure long-term accommodation. The project strengthens peer support and enables residents to shape services through formalised Residents’ Forums, ensuring their voices influence senior decision-making. For Homeless Oxfordshire, LEAP enhances our capacity to deliver peer-led support, builds staff knowledge, and informs service improvement. We are looking for a Learning & Engagement Coordinator to join our flagship Penpont Project, empowering young people and intergenerational communities to connect with, feel inspired by and take action for nature. About the role
As Learning & Engagement Coordinator, you will support the successful delivery and ongoing development of our learning and engagement work as part of the Penpont Project, playing an active role in empowering young people and intergenerational communities to connect with, feel inspired by and take action for nature. You will proactively engage the Penpont Project’s Youth Leadership Group, school and youth groups, local community members and other stakeholders, and will help to design, organise and run a wide variety of events and activities for them to take part in. These will include both day visits and residential stays (including at our brand new Forest Camp site) as well as online sessions. You will also support our Youth Rangers programme and similar professional development opportunities. What we are looking for
