The Role
What will I be doing?
- Supporting the Manager- Teaching Workforce in the development of a report on Recruitment, Retention and Retraining physics teachers in further education
- Supporting the development of relationships with key stakeholders in the education sector, including curating key networks such as the Initial Teaching Training community
- Undertaking activities to support the development of a robust research and evidence base around: the factors underpinning the health of the physics teaching workforce and how best to create the conditions for this to thrive

Job Summary
Advance’s Minerva service works with women and young women and girls involved in the Criminal Justice System offering safe, targeted support and advocacy to women to help them address their complex needs in relation to the 9 pathways to offending, such as substance misuse and financial difficulties, aiming to reduce re-offending, encourage desistance amongst repeat offenders, and empower women to live safe, crime free lives.
Working as a Service User Engagement Lead you will be responsible for supporting the operational delivery of our service user engagement programme that will be a part of the Minerva service across London, including leading a team of CJS community champions and ambassadors and supporting in the oversight and delivery this programme across our 3 criminal justice services. In addition, this role requires you to build effective relationships with the criminal justice teams across London, and the regions alongside our partners and service users.
An integral part of the Service User Engagement Lead role will include delivering planned monthly supervision and ad-hoc supervision and having oversight of safeguarding and risk management for the CJS champions and ambassadors that you are working alongside. You will support the Senior Service Manager and Service Managers in delivering key information to keyworkers, in staff meetings and in day-to-day interactions to help promote the service user engagement programme.
You will lead your team and service while working collaboratively with fellow Advance managers and teams, external agencies and key stakeholders across London to provide a consistent and holistic service.
Key responsibilities and duties
- Support the recruitment, onboarding, and exit processes for champions and ambassadors including processing checks and welcome packs. Creating and supporting a positive culture of CJS Champions and ambassadors within the service
- To ensure the voice of service users is heard, valued and have influence throughout all areas of services, development design and delivery
- Supporting the CJS champions and ambassadors in post with their professional development
- Support with coproduction of projects across sites including coproduction space and service user activities, representing the views and opinions of those who access our services by leading on service user board meetings, focus groups and training sessions.
- Oversight of the welfare and wellbeing of CJS Champions and ambassadors
- Embed processes that enable you to engage with those who access our services, by listening to their views and asking for their feedback. Provide feedback and updates to those who access our services informing them of any changes and decisions.
- Work with staff and the local community to improve and develop the service, promoting our strategy
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on champions and ambassadors and service user engagement via our internal database and spreadsheets.
- Manage invitations, bookings, and logistics for internal and external events, meetings or workshops involving CJS community champions and ambassadors
- Ensure all CJS champion and service user information is managed confidentially and in line with Data Protection regulations.
- Keep CJS champions and ambassadors training and participation records up to date.
- Support in monitoring engagement levels and preparing basic reports or summaries on Service User Involvement champions and ambassadors.
- Be responsible for your own personal learning/development and keep up to date on research, relevant legislation, policy and practice, and other literature relevant to the role.
- Participate in supervision, training and meetings as required and assist in the development of services in line with agreed development plans.
- Work collaboratively with the Service Managers to ensure that the work supporting women in the CJS is a coherent and well organised service, meeting regularly to communicate issues across the team and reporting achievements, challenges and proposed solutions.

The Professional Communities Manager leads the development, content curation, and operational delivery of CST’s 11 Professional Communities. These networks, events, and forums are a core benefit of CST membership and are provided free of charge to members.
This is a proactive, member-focused role that blends operational excellence with strategic content oversight. The postholder will work directly with community chairs, subject experts, community supporters, CST platinum partners and members to ensure that all communities are vibrant, professionally hosted, and deliver high-quality, relevant content.
The role also plays a key part in ensuring a joined-up approach to content across CST’s full range of activities, working closely with the professional learning and conference teams and partnerships to ensure alignment and maximise value for members.
Key responsibilities
Strategic Development and Continuous Improvement
- Develop and implement strategic plans to strengthen the value, engagement, and content of CST Professional Communities.
- Set clear objectives and KPIs to monitor success and drive continuous improvement of community services.
- Regularly evaluate community activity, identifying ways to increase engagement, relevance, and impact for members.
Community Content Curation and Management
- Oversee the quality, consistency, and relevance of content across all 11 Professional Communities, ensuring alignment with member priorities and organisational objectives.
- Work in partnership with community chairs, subject experts, community supporters and CST’s platinum partnerships to proactively commission, curate, and quality-assure community content (e.g., webinars, blogs, resources, discussions).
- Work closely with the professional learning and conference teams to ensure a joined-up, coherent approach to content across CST activity, avoiding duplication and enhancing overall member value.
- Identify content gaps and work creatively, including drawing upon resources and contacts within the policy and partnership team to address them, ensuring a balanced and evolving programme across the communities.
Community Engagement and Facilitation
- Lead and facilitate virtual and in-person community events, ensuring professional delivery and high-quality member interaction.
- Support and brief speakers, chairs, and contributors to ensure a consistently excellent experience for members.
- Actively promote member engagement through community platforms and other channels, driving participation and interaction.
Stakeholder Relationships
- Build and maintain strong relationships with CST members, community chairs, speakers, and supporters.
- Collaborate with internal colleagues across membership, communications, professional learning, policy, and conference teams to maximise the impact of community activities.
- Manage relationships with sponsors where appropriate, ensuring alignment with CST values.
Digital Platform and Event Management
- Oversee the effective use of digital and platforms (including CiviCRM and Hivebrite,) to host communities, deliver events, and share content.
- Manage operational aspects of events and online communities, ensuring smooth logistics and excellent user experience.
Data, Insight, and Reporting
- Monitor and report on community engagement, content performance, and member feedback, using data to guide improvements.
- Lead the ongoing development of data processes for the communities, ensuring accurate insights are captured and shared.
Team Leadership and Development
- Manage, develop, and support the Professional Communities Coordinator, fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture.
- Encourage learning and development across the team to ensure consistently excellent member service.
Adaptability and Wider Contribution
- Contribute to broader membership engagement strategies and initiatives.
- Undertake any other duties as required by the Director of Membership to support CST’s mission
Department: Supporter Marketing and Public Fundraising
Salary: £32,656 per annum (i.e. pro-rata to the full time equivalent of £40,237 per annum)
Hours: 28 hours (4 days) per week

- Experience with Drupal, HTML/CSS/JavaScript
- Strong UX, SEO, and CRO skills

Thanks to funding from the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, TransActual are recruiting a Policy Officer to join our growing team. You’ll both be working alongside our Policy Lead, Director of Policy and Director for Healthcare to advocate for trans people’s needs in a range of policy areas.
This is role is offered on the initial basis of a 3 year contract, with any extension of that subject to funding.
As a Policy Officer at TransActual you will:
- Engage with elected representatives and civil servants.
- Support with the research for, writing and distribution of TransActual’s Parliamentary briefings.
- Research and write responses to consultations, reviews and calls for evidence.
- Keep our policy database up to date.
- Support the Policy Lead in creating and coordinating a Trans Policy Network.
- Support the delivery of a programme of work to support activists to develop their develop skills and expertise in policy work.
- Work collaboratively with others in the LGBTQ+ sector and beyond on policy matters.
- Work with TransActual’s programmes officer to create information and training resources for trans people on rights and protections.
- Coordinate TransActual’s policy volunteers to ensure they’ve got what they need to be able to support our work.
An in depth understanding of trans people’s lived experiences and an ongoing commitment to bringing about positive change for all trans people in the UK is absolutely essential for this role. This understanding can come from your own lived experience. You will demonstrate a strong understanding of and commitment to equity, particularly in relation to race equity and disability equity.

The successful applicant will be required to attend regular meetings in Central London, but must be able to work from home as well.
Terms and salary: 30 hours a week, a total salary of £21,840 per year (the full time equivalent salary would be £27,300).
