Family Support Foster Carer
Overview
The family support foster carers (FSFCs) mentor their families and offer short breaks for children, offering stability and giving parents time to address their challenges with support. They provide feedback on their involvement with the families during review meetings.
The FSFCs could be experienced foster carers within the service who want to develop their skills and explore a new opportunity within fostering. Alternatively, they can be recruited specifically to this role in SUSD but must gain approval prior to commencing in the role. Is it imperative that the FSFCs have the skills and commitment to working with both parents and children as part of the SUSD programme. A role description for the FSFC is included in this pack.
Role and Responsibilities
The key aspects of the role are to
- provide weekly mentoring support for parents who are referred to SUSD. There is maximum caseload of 4 families at any one time.
- support the family to set and review goals, using our Person Centred Planning app.
- provide one planned short break each month for each referred child.
- offer crisis response support to families in the form of phone calls, visits or crisis short breaks.
- attend training provided by The Fostering Network & the Local Authority, enabling the FSFC to provide training and support to families.
- help with family activities, such as outings, family activities, summer schemes and residentials
The Family Support Foster Carer will be required to record details of the support provided, sharing with the supervising social worker as appropriate. During weeks that the FSFC has attend a review or support meeting for a family, they will not be required to complete another mentoring session with that family.
Working with parents and families
Families are referred to Step Up Step Down by their social worker. The scheme is voluntary, and families are empowered to decide whether they want the support. SUSD support has 4 primary aspects:
- mentoring for parents
- short breaks for children
- family activities
- community supports.
SUSD Mentoring Sessions are based upon areas of identified need. These are decided through the referral process and the initial planning meeting and are reviewed every three months throughout the duration of SUSD support. The key areas of support are: Routines, Budgeting, Healthy Living, Mental and Physical Wellbeing, Behaviour Management, Access to supports, Family Relationships, Dealing with Crisis Situations, Play and Stimulation.
The FSFC will also be required to give updates and share progress at review meetings. Information required will be:
- number of parent mentoring sessions since the previous SUSD review (including cancelations), and details of the work covered with the parent;
- number of short breaks since the previous review, and details of activities;
- any and all other support given to the family.
Support for the Family Support Foster Carer
Personal development and self-care is important, as we know that the best supporters are well supported themselves. There are several ways that SUSD will support the FSFCs.
- There will be regular supervision where they can discuss complex cases or raise any issues.
- FSFCs will be encouraged to attend training that will support them in the role, and to take an active role in identifying what this training should be.
- Quarterly carer support sessions are organised to enable the FSFCs & other SUSD team members to meet and learn from each other.
- FSFCs are also encouraged to form informal peer support networks.
Service: Children's Services
Salary: To receive a minimum allowance of £19,700, up to a maximum of £32,700 per annum
Please note, this is a self employed role and you will receive a weekly allowance. As a registered foster carer you will qualify for Qualifiying Care Relief and can earn up to £18,000 before paying tax.

Barnardo's Community Wellbeing Team offers support to children and young people through both 1:1 interventions and group work. The Wellbeing Mentors use a strength based approach to work alongside young poeple to support their emotional wellbeing and mental health. Support is offered throughout the community, in family homes, online, schools and public places. The service provides support to children and young poeple who reside throughout Surrey in the following counties; Waverley, Surrey Heath, Woking and Spelthorne, therefore a full UK driving licence and access to your own car is a must for this role.
Due to the nature of this work you will hold a small caseload of children and young people which will enable you to build good relationships with the families and through your support will help them effect meaningful change.
You will have experience of working with children and young people and will be required to deliver direct interventions with a range of difficulties and needs.

The Action on Disability Employment Service is setting the agenda for disability employment across London with great results. Background

The Post
The purpose of the job is to provide coaching, support and guidance to young people with learning disabilities (17+) within their workplaces. You will support interns/graduates to become independent in their roles and provide the necessary coaching, training and encouragement to enable them to succeed. You will work closely with the employer to ensure they are supported and can confidently manage and train their intern/employee once your support has been withdrawn.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- To carry out a detailed job analysis of potential jobs / work placements
- To carry out detailed job matching of service users and jobs
- To comprehensively learn jobs across different sectors – not restricted to but potentially including – Catering, Customer Service, Administration, IT and Retail
- To implement training/coaching plans which will enable the candidates to fulfil their roles to employer standards

About the oppurtunity:
You will help drive the quality and impact of our key stage 2 (KS2) and key stage 4 (KS4) maths tutoring programmes through subject-specific training of volunteer tutors, and by advising and supporting our (mostly) non-teaching staff members who manage these volunteer tutors day to day.

Supporting the delivery of our maths curriculum:

- Maintain existing tutoring GCSE and KS2 maths curriculum resources to ensure volunteer tutors have high quality materials to use in sessions.

- Observe several virtual tutoring sessions a week. Make detailed and unbiased notes on tutor skills, craft empathetic constructive feedback in emails.
- Support our programme delivery team to craft communications and feedback to tutors.
- Produce ‘quality tips’ and resources for tutors and staff.
- Work with Action Tutoring’s volunteer engagement team to feedback trends so that the quality assurance process at the tutor application stage is as strong as possible.
Delivering volunteer tutor training:
- Support the Training Manager by delivering up to four virtual initial tutor training sessions a week during peak months, presenting Action Tutoring’s established training content.
- Support the Training Manager by contributing updates to tutor training content.
- Create content for tutor CPD materials to support with maths tutoring.

Qualifications criteria:
- Qualified secondary school teacher of Mathematics
- At least two year’s teaching experience in English state schools with an understanding of the barriers facing disadvantaged pupils

Transforming Lives for Good (TLG) are a national Christian charity working in partnership with local churches to bring struggling children hope and a future. Building on the huge success of TLG Early Intervention Coaching, TLG Therapeutic Support will be a new way for TLG, with partner churches, to provide support in school for the increasing number of pupils struggling to cope due to their emotional, relational, and mental health experiences. This programme addresses the underlying issues children are facing, whilst also providing the option of direct support to their parents/carers and the school staff team.
In this role we are looking for individuals with an accredited coaching qualification that thrive working with children and young people in a school context and are passionate about supporting pupils and their families struggling with emotional, relational, and mental health challenges. The ideal candidate will have an aptitude for creativity whether this is music and drama, sport and outdoor recreation or other fields of kinaesthetic development. The TLG Therapeutic Coach will be present each week in the school, providing specialist trauma aware care for these children, whilst supporting staff and parents/carers too, so we're looking for an individual who can build and foster strong relationships.

Partnership Experience Manager (Maternity Cover)

About the role
You will play a key role in driving the continuous improvement and growth of our national partnership through deepening the quality and impact of our local collaboration hubs. You will also oversee the day-to-day running of hubs of our schools and trusts, which includes holding responsibility for the operations of the Partnerships Team and working closely with the Partnership Lead to ensure that all hubs, schools and trusts have an excellent experience with Challenge Partners.

Warrington Voluntary Action have been invited to coordinate Warrington’s first Poverty Truth Commission (PTC). Poverty Truth Commissions are about bringing about change - changing organisations and communities behaviours and attitudes towards poverty and taking action to tackle it. The PTC brings together people who have direct lived experience of poverty with key decision makers to form a group of commissioners who meet and work together on the key issues guided by the Community Commissioners.
The purpose of the Community Engagement Worker role is to coordinate and facilitate a Poverty Truth Commission where people and their stories are at the heart of truly understanding and addressing poverty, delivering a commission in a truly relational way, which prioritises the leadership of those who are more often marginalised or voiceless.
Key Responsibilities
- To reach and develop trusted relationships with people with lived experience of poverty, with the aim of recruiting Community Commissioners who are representative of our local community.
- Create effective conditions for learning and support the Community Commissioners to learn and share together easily, facilitating sessions that enable them to build solidarity with one another.
- Provide mentoring and guidance through one to one and group sessions, to build confidence enable the group to share their stories of poverty to a number of audiences in creative ways as shaped by the commissioners, recognising their unique and valuable contributions and managing expectations.
- Facilitate meetings and support the Community Commissioners as they prepare to share their stories at a launch event.
- To develop effective, trusted relationships with local community stakeholders to harness their support and resources.
- Co-ordinate a PTC launch event and a PTC closing event, capturing and documenting the events as appropriate.
- To recruit Civic and business commissioners, building capacity and skills to work alongside the Community Commissioners.
- To act as the main point of contact for the Community and Civic Commissioners, building trust, openness and effective relationships.
- To undertake administrative tasks associated with the commission including promotion and monitoring of the commission and its progress.
- Capture and provide information/ reports on progress of the PTC to be shared with the wider stakeholders.
- Occasionally attend events and meetings alongside the Community Commissioners to support them to elevate their voices and be heard.
- Work alongside the Poverty Truth Network as the commission is developed to ensure it stays on track and best practice is learned and adopted as appropriate.
