What this position entails

This role is designed for someone eager to share their fundraising knowledge by coaching our team to enhance their skills and gain a deeper understanding of the fundraising landscape.

We work with a dedicated team of volunteers, from our operational staff to those actively participating in our events, all of whom are enthusiastic about supporting our initiatives while gaining valuable experience and connecting with new people. Our Fundraising Trainer will provide valuable training to our fundraising and marketing team, focusing on enhancing their fundraising abilities, helping them to develop innovative strategies, and assisting with bid revisions by offering them constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement.

We seek a mentor rather than someone to handle fundraising tasks for the team; we want a guide who can empower others to learn from their expertise.

Time commitment: Flexible and can be adjusted to accommodate your personal schedule. The support plans designed for referred families are typically structured to span a period of six weeks.

About the Role

As part of the Charity’s Board of Trustees, you will be responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, financial management and governance of the organisation to ensure that at every step we are working to improve people’s experiences of health and social care services. To achieve this, you will:

• Ensure that the organisation works within its mission and charitable objectives and is compliant with charity and company law within the jurisdictions within which it is registered and operates.
• Further the charitable objectives of the organisation, including promoting our mission and staying true to our values.
• Ensure that the organisation’s policies, practice, performance, and operations are in keeping with our aims and objectives.

Responsibilities

Members of the Board of Trustees are expected to:

• Be an active and engaged member of the Trustee group.
• Take part in regular board meetings with a frequency of 6 to 8 meetings each year.
• Undertake work outside board meetings, eg preparation and reading.
• Participate in sub-committees, reflecting trustees’ policies or concerns or provide high level input to defined organisational projects from time to time.

Commitment

The full Board of Trustees meets every two months, usually in Oxford or remotely via video conference. There may be sub committees, with authority delegated to them by the Board, meeting at other intervals; and staff may seek to consult with you on your particular expertise. Occasionally, you may also be asked to represent Picker at meetings with potential funders or influencers, attend our report or product launches, or work alongside staff at events and receptions. We expect the typical commitment to be around one to two days per month.

Pay range and compensation package

This is an unpaid post, though reasonable expenses incurred through performance of duties will be reimbursed.

Qualifications

Demonstrable passion and commitment to person centred care for health and social care users, their carers and families, and staff is essential.

Required Skills

A background in one or more of the following areas is very desirable for these appointments:

• Communications – with experience of raising the profile of a similar sized charity or organisation to Picker.
• Business development – with expertise in identifying new opportunities to create long term impact.
• Finance experience – with a keen eye for numbers, although you do not necessarily need to be financially qualified.
• Health service – with experience as a user of health and care services, as a researcher in health and social care or as a health service practitioner or manager, whether in the NHS, the private sector, or internationally.
• Social care – with experience of working in or managing a social care provider or elsewhere in the sector.

Recently celebrating its 10 year anniversary, the Ecosystems Knowledge Network (EKN) has gained widespread recognition as a trusted source of insight for all with role in the stewardship of land, water and nature. Through our events, resources, advice and communications, we support a wide range of people, from volunteers in small local environmental initiatives to representatives of big businesses. Our job is to help them harness the value of the environment for everyone’s wellbeing and prosperity. We are a registered charity and a growing social enterprise. 

From architecture to agriculture, ecology to engineering and finance to fisheries, EKN is a diverse network of professionals. We run pioneering events on ‘frontline’ topics not addressed by others, enabling mutual understanding, collaboration, and action between different sectors and interests.  For example, convening events on the role of games and gamification in nature recovery, and running the renowned series of conferences on the rapidly growing topic of nature finance (now into the sixth year).  

We think the natural environment has huge untapped potential to help resolve issues of concern people and businesses in this part of the 21st Century. The current Board is now recruiting up to three new trustees to guide EKN in this endeavour and to deliver to its 4,000+ members and stakeholders. •  charity experience, ideally a CEO or former CEO who has grown a local charity into a national

• fundraising and/or someone who sits across marketing, comms and fundraising but with more experience on fundraising than comms 

• frontline support both online/digital and face to face in health and social care 

• business development and networking

Bright Futures UK are looking for warm and energetic volunteer befrienders to provide support and a fun, safe space for young people with serious illness.

Provide companionship virtually for just one hour per week to fit flexibly around your schedule. If you have a hobby that you enjoy, a topic you are particularly passionate about or you just enjoy being sociable, we would love you to join us as a Volunteer Befriender!

Position Overview
This is an exciting and unique internship opportunity supporting SEED Madagascar’s media and communications output. This position will focus on social media management support, visual content design, and image selection and arrangement. It is ideal for a motivated individual interested in learning new skills and gaining practical experience within the communications team of an international development and conservation organisation.

About the organisation
SEED Madagascar is a British Charity working in partnership with communities in the southeast of Madagascar. We integrate high quality community health, livelihoods, education infrastructure and conservation programmes to support sustainable change and add to international best practice through research and publication across all of our programmatic areas.
Location: Remote
Timeframe: 6 months extendable – flexible 2 days a week
Contract: Voluntary, unsalaried
Reporting to: Media and Communications Officer

Duties and responsibilities 
1. Responsible for planning and drafting platform-specific content for SEED’s social media accounts and support with the implementation of a new TikTok strategy, following a clear briefing from the Media and Communications Coordinator and Officer. 
2. Using video editing software CapCut to produce video content for use on SEED’s TikTok and Instagram accounts. 
3. Using Canva to produce exciting visual content for use across SEED’s social media accounts, ensuring that all brand guidelines are adhered to. 
4. Monitoring and reporting on performance KPIs for SEED’s online output. 
5. Support the management and arrangement of SEED Madagascar’s image drive, suggesting images that are appropriate for use in our online output from a bank of photographs.
6. Gain a detailed understanding of all of SEED’s programmes.
7. Any other tasks the Media and Communications Officer deems necessary within the broad remit
of this role.

Qualifications
● Hold or be studying towards an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in or relating to media
and communications, international development, or have comparable field experience.
● Have experience managing social media accounts.
● Have experience writing high-level copy, appropriate for varying audiences.
● Proven high standard of written and verbal communication and editing skills.
● Proven experience in following clear instructions and staying in keeping with brand guidelines
and expectations, sometimes in sensitive circumstances.
● Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to SEED’s ethos and approach and be a good
ambassador for the organisation at all times.
● Be punctual and be able to work to tight deadlines in an organised manner and to a high
standard.
● Ability to work well under pressure to meet targets and deadlines.
● Proactive, creative and resourceful.
● Experience of both collaborative team and independent working.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
● Proficiency in the use of the visual design platform Canva.
● Proficiency in the use of video design platforms such as CapCut.
● Be able to financially support themselves for the duration of their internship as there is no
stipend.
