Age UK is recruiting for a Senior Legacy Marketing Manager to lead a high-performing marketing team to plan and deliver, legacy marketing campaigns, managing budgets, performance analysis, pipeline development, and relationship management of our legacy supporters.
In this impactful role, you will take proactive accountability for the development and delivery of the legacy journey from prospect & considerer stage to pledger, creating bespoke journeys for our audience segments.

Please note that due to the Hybrid nature of this role, the successful applicant will be required to work from our central London office near Tower Hill, once a week (currently Thursdays) but more frequently if required. Reporting to the Head of Legacies, the Legacy Manager will manage and operate the administration of all legacies received by Sightsavers in the UK and Ireland, liaising with Executors, Solicitors, Trust Corporations, together with Legacy Managers/ Officers at other charities.
Key duties include:
• managing and developing our small, dedicated legacy team
• maximising potential funds for Sightsavers, whilst protecting the reputation of the charity
• optimising the collection of legacy income in line with current legal frameworks
• complying with internal and external audit and compliance requirements in relation to legacy administration
• providing a legal and advisory service through the Head of Function
• maintaining all case documentation and records

About you - skills and experience
We are looking for an individual with outstanding customer service and strong technical and influencing skills as well as bags of tact and diplomacy and a team ethos.
You will have:
- previous experience in Charity Legacy Management or equivalent areas of specialism in the legal sector, ideally with managerial responsibility, with the Institute of Legacy Management Certificate CICLA (Certificate in Charity Legacy Administration), STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) qualification or equivalent
- demonstrable experience of working in a senior position in the legacy department of a charity or Probate department of a firm of Solicitors, Bank or Trust Corporation
- good finance and accounting knowledge, particularly estate accounts, investment management and share valuations
- strong knowledge of relevant Charity Law legislation
- strong knowledge of relevant Probate and Trust Law and procedures
- working knowledge of GDPR
- experience of working with the FirstClass legacy management system (desirable)

The team mostly work from home however, our expectation is that we will need the successful candidate to be able to travel to the offices in Haywards Heath, West Sussex (RH16 3BW) at least once per quarter but there is also the option to work in the office for three days per week, working the other two days from home. It’s an easy 20-minute train journey from Brighton or 45 minutes from London. We’re located close to Haywards Heath rail station and on lots of bus routes. Please note that this role must be worked from within the UK.

As our Marketing Manager - Mass Fundraising Acquisition (Legacy), you’ll be responsible for leading an in-house team of marketers responsible for driving mass, new customer acquisition across a portfolio of fundraising products/activities. Working with our media agency and third-party agency suppliers, you'll be responsible for the development, execution, and optimisation of multi-million pound, omni-channel marketing, and fundraising campaigns and marcomms within the overall British Heart Foundation (BHF) integrated media plan. You'll have oversight across a portfolio of fundraising activity, ensuring strategic and tactical delivery and optimisation, to deliver transformative customer experiences and drive growth in support and income through mass customer acquisition.
In this role, you'll put the customer at the heart, ensuring they feel central to our work and achievements and motivated to continue funding our research in the long-term.
About you
As our ideal candidate, you'll bring extensive and demonstrable marketing experience of designing, developing, and managing integrated, multi-channel marketing plans and delivering successful commercial outcomes through these i.e., across new customer acquisition and fundraising/income growth.
Preferably with knowledge of Legacy Marketing, you will have excellent interpersonal skills and a proven track record of success in a fast-moving, effective marketing team, experience in paid media planning, and optimisation within, and across a full range of ATL channels.
Highly numerate, with excellent planning and project management skills, you'll have evidenced experience of marketing including a full understanding of different marketing approaches and an ability to use marketing to secure support across a broad range of channels.
To be successful in the role you will also have:
- Strong analytical skills, able to manipulate and analyse data across a variety of media to optimise integration performance and engagement
- Experience of managing significant expenditure budgets, interpreting financial information and providing reporting and analysis, as well as risk identification and risk mitigation against financial and non-financial objectives
- Previous leadership and line management experience
- Experience of agency partnership management
- Knowledge and experience of fundraising or relationship databases is highly desirable

The role
The Legacy and In Memory Manager is responsible for developing and delivering plans to maximise gifts in wills and in memory giving, ensuring a sustainable income stream for the charity whilst providing exceptional levels of supporter care. This role will oversee the administration of legacies, drive the growth of the charity's Free Wills programme, steward legacy pledgers, and expand in memory fundraising.
The Legacy and In Memory Manager will also ensure supporter journeys, audience insight and effective targeting are at the heart of the charity's programme, working with the Individual Giving and Development Lead to create impactful marketing campaigns across a variety of channels.
You will play an important part in raising awareness of the importance of wills to a wider audience.
About You
As a Legacy and In Memory Manager we would love you to have experience of the following
-Proven experience in legacy and/or in memory fundraising within the charity sector.
- Good understanding of charity legacy administration, probate law, and regulatory
requirements.
-Experience in developing and delivering fundraising plans with measurable outcomes.
-Experience in line management, with the ability to support and develop a team effectively.

Role overview:
A pivotal senior position within the Legacy and In Memory Fundraising team, this role works closely with the Head of Legacy and In Memory Fundraising to lead key fundraising initiatives and stewardship efforts. Responsibilities include overseeing recruitment, staff development, and performance management, as well as contributing to strategic planning and budget oversight. The role also leads the delivery of a multi-channel legacy marketing programme and ensures external suppliers meet agreed service levels.
