About the role
As Director of Fundraising, you will lead and inspire our fundraising team, driving multi-million-pound income across philanthropy, individual giving, legacies, corporate partnerships, community fundraising and events. This is a newly created role with a high degree of autonomy, focused on shaping the future of fundraising at Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity, developing compelling campaigns, and identifying new opportunities to grow support.
Working closely with your colleagues and Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, you will help bring fundable, high-impact projects to life, engaging current supporters and inspiring new audiences. The Head of Supporter Engagement will play a pivotal role in building and nurturing relationships with both existing and prospective supporters of Noah’s Ark. About you:
- Experience of developing supporter engagement opportunities and stewardship journeys for tens of thousands of supporters at least
- Experience of running an Community Giving, Individual Giving programme, incorporating Legacy Giving, raising at least £0.5m per annum
- Experience of managing a team to deliver exceptional results
- Successful experience of leading direct fundraising marketing campaigns across a range of channels including direct mail, email, social media and telephone
- Experience of highly successful relationship building with a portfolio of supporters, including through face-to-face meetings and telephone conversations

We have recently appointed our new Chief Executive Officer who takes up post in October 2025. Overview of the role
As the organisation’s Head of Fundraising and Marketing, you will be an experienced, ambitious, enthusiastic, and dynamic professional, who is passionate about fundraising and maximising income generation.
Working closely with our new CEO and committed trustees and staff, you will develop and implement fundraising and marketing strategies that align to our vision and drive the expansion of our crucial support to young people in Suffolk.

Main Responsibilities
1. Strategic leadership
· Develop and lead the multi-channel fundraising and marketing strategy to meet agreed income targets and support

2. Fundraising and income generation

· Proactively seek new opportunities to secure long-term, multi-year funding through well-targeted funding applications and corporate proposals.
· Build strong partner relationships with a focus on stewardship, retention, and growth.
· Monitor performance, analyse data, and drive continuous improvement.
· Chair the Fundraising sub-committee and contribute to the Data, Impact and Evidence Action Group
· Responsible for completion of all bids, grants and funding applications and ensuring that funders receive appropriate ongoing feedback.
3. Marketing and communications
· Develop marketing materials and campaigns that effectively communicate the charity’s mission, vision and achievements to various audiences for both The Mix and 127 Trading Ltd.
· Lead the management of digital platforms, ensuring consistent and inspiring content across all channels, including the website, social media, email and printed materials.
· Ensure that brand messaging is consistent, clear and aligned across The Mix and 127 Trading Ltd to enhance public recognition and reputation.
· Grow awareness of the charity at a local and regional level, monitoring success through market research.
· Develop compelling narratives and stories of the charity’s impact to engage partners and encourage continued support.
4. Team leadership and development
· Lead and develop the Fundraising & Marketing team, fostering a collaborative and positive culture.
· Mentor and support team members in achieving their professional development goals, ensuring they attain business objectives.
· Regularly monitor and review team performance to meet income generation and communication objectives.
5. Operational excellence
· Ensure compliance with data protection laws, fundraising regulations and ethical guidelines across all fundraising and marketing activities.
· Review and improve the use of the website and develop systems to track donor engagement, monitor income and ensure data integrity and transparency.
· Work closely with finance and operations teams to oversee the management and monitoring of fundraising targets.
·Work closely with the Youth Work team to provide insight to funding opportunities available and marketing and fundraising activities occurring.

TRAIN is a youth work charity based in South Oxfordshire. We support young people aged 10 to 18 in Didcot, Wallingford and the surrounding areas, especially those who are under-served.
Young people in our communities are facing complex challenges. Mental health struggles, pressures at school, family instability and the impact of poverty can leave them feeling isolated or overlooked. Too often, they don’t have access to the right support at the right time. TRAIN exists to change that. You’ll also play a part in growing support from corporates, community fundraising, individual donors and major gifts, helping to build a broader base of income over time.
Alongside this, you’ll lead on communications. That means keeping our website and social channels current, producing supporter newsletters, and sharing our story more widely through PR and campaigns. You’ll help make sure the difference TRAIN makes for young people is seen and understood by funders, partners and the local community.
It’s a hands-on role, well-suited to someone who enjoys writing, building relationships and juggling different projects. You don’t need to be an experienced fundraiser — we’re open to people with transferable skills, whether from corporate, public or third sector backgrounds. What matters most is that you can communicate clearly, organise your workload, and are motivated by making a difference for young people.
You’ll report directly to the CEO and work closely with the rest of the team. This is a part-time role of approximately 30 hours per week, which can be worked flexibly. The role is based in Didcot with hybrid working, but for the right candidate we will consider a fully remote arrangement.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
- Salary: £28,598 - £31,022 FTE (pro-rated, depending on experience)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Fundraising (approx. 80%)
- Pipeline and planning – work with the CEO to keep a clear fundraising plan, with trusts and foundations as the main focus alongside manageable growth in corporates, community, and individual giving.
- Trusts and foundations – research prospects, build a live pipeline, and write strong, tailored bids. Prepare accurate budgets and gather evidence from the team to strengthen proposals.
- Reporting and stewardship – deliver timely reports, thank funders and donors well, and manage renewals and uplift opportunities.
- Relationship development – nurture links with local businesses, community groups and potential major donors. Prepare simple proposals and support fundraising events or activities as needed.
- Systems and compliance – maintain accurate records of applications, deadlines and outcomes. Ensure fundraising activity is compliant with GDPR and charity regulations.
Communications (approx. 20%)
- Supporter communications – produce engaging newsletters, updates and thank-yous that connect donors and partners with TRAIN’s impact.
- Digital presence – update the website and social media channels with accurate, timely content that reflects TRAIN’s work and values.
- PR and profile – share stories with local media, partners and networks. Ensure TRAIN’s messaging is clear, consistent and accessible.
- Community engagement – promote TRAIN’s profile, youth offer, brand and presence in the community.
General
- Work closely with the CEO to align fundraising and comms priorities.
- Collaborate with youth work staff to gather stories, quotes and data that demonstrate TRAIN’s impact.
- Represent TRAIN at meetings and community events.
- Contribute to the life of a small, collaborative team.

This role is offered on a permanent full-time contract basis paying a salary between £68,000 to £75,000 per annum with flexible hybrid working arrangements at their Stevenage office.
The Director of Philanthropy Partnerships will be a member of the executive leadership team, and they will lead the ambitious Philanthropy team to fundraise from corporate partners, Major Donors, Trusts and Foundations. They will operationalise the three-year strategy, with realistic stretch targets and develop a prospect pipeline, mapping stakeholder and donor relationships. They will develop a personal caseload of donors capable of giving +£100K, over the next three years, building relationships with them and co-ordinating their solicitation and stewardship. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of a portfolio of owned and virtual fundraising events — from concept through to post-event evaluation — ensuring operational excellence, creativity, and supporter satisfaction.
- Deliver large-scale in-person events such as the St Thomas’ Abseil, including venue and supplier coordination, safety planning, risk management, insurance, and on-the-day execution.
- Develop and grow virtual fundraising products, such as Steps For Evelina, drawing on insight, testing and digital best practice to create scalable, supporter-led experiences.
- Lead cross-functional project teams and working groups — aligning stakeholders across digital, supporter experience, innovation, comms and fundraising to deliver shared outcomes.
- Manage event budgets end to end — including forecasting, reforecasting, reconciliation and performance analysis — and use financial insight to inform decisions on where to invest, scale or refine.
- Lead on supporter acquisition for owned products, including paid digital campaigns (PPC, social), segmentation strategies, audience targeting and grassroots recruitment.
- Create and implement behavioural, insight-led supporter journeys — driving engagement and long-term value through personalised, multi-channel communications.
- Produce and maintain risk assessments, permits and compliance documentation, ensuring safe and well-managed delivery across all owned events.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with internal teams, suppliers, venues and agencies to ensure delivery is aligned, effective and on brand.
- Monitor KPIs and use performance data, feedback and market trends to evaluate success, inform future development and drive continuous improvement.
Work environment
- The post holder should expect to:
- Work in a hybrid hot desk environment, generally working 2 days a week in the London office and three from home.
- Be responsible for the input and maintenance of databases and files relevant to the post requirements.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Experience
- At least 3 years’ experience delivering owned, public-facing or virtual fundraising events, with full responsibility for planning, delivery, compliance, and performance.
- Strong track record in hands-on event delivery, including supplier and venue management, live production, logistics, and on-the-day coordination.
- Experience developing and implementing risk assessments, permits, insurances and health & safety documentation.
- Demonstrated success in launching new fundraising products — from concept through to live delivery — using innovation frameworks or test-and-learn methodology.
- Knowledge of digital acquisition, including PPC, paid social and segmentation strategies for events.
- Proven ability to lead cross-team project groups and manage external partners, contractors or agencies.
- Experience managing detailed budgets, with strong financial accountability and performance tracking.
