Just Like Us is the LGBT+ young people’s charity and works with thousands of schools and young people across the UK through its programmes. This role is critical to the delivery of our mission and will support the Volunteering Programmes Manager to meet the needs of our community of 350+ volunteers so that we can reach even more LGBT+ young people across the UK. The role will be working across the Programmes Team, working on the Ambassador Programme and supporting the School Talks programme weekly. This role is an entry-level position and will provide the successful candidate with a strong foundation for a career in the voluntary sector. Job Description

This role reports directly to the Volunteering Programmes Manager.

Programme delivery
● Support the Programmes Team to deliver our programmes
● Good regular communication and reporting to the Volunteering Programmes Manager
● Manage the administration of our Ambassador and School Talk programmes. Including the recruitment, training, opportunities and engagement of volunteers
● Deliver Ambassador volunteer training on the weekend, in-person at different locations across the UK and online
● Act as a first point of contact for ambassadors on our programmes, answering questions, sharing new resources and encouraging participation. This includes supporting ambassadors with their direct questions, managing the group chats on a daily basis and inboxes
● Support the School Talk programme, including organising bookings with schools, organising volunteers, supporting schools, supporting the whole delivery
● Represent the charity at conferences, events, prides and fairs
● Ensure volunteers to have a fulfilling and engaging experience when volunteering with Just Like Us, that they feel recognised and understand the impact of their contribution
● Work collaboratively across teams to manage logistics and ensure the smooth running of Just Like Us programmes throughout the academic year.

● Be highly computer literate, willing to learn and use our database Salesforce quickly and proficient in using email, Google Sheets and Google Docs (or equivalent)
● Be able to work very effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Our School Talks are a key part of our work at Just Like Us. We take hundreds of bookings from schools every year, and deliver hundreds of school talks across the UK with the support of our LGBT+ volunteers aged 18-25.

This role will be key in working with schools to clarify and action their bookings with us, and supporting our volunteers to deliver those talks, working with the Volunteering Team.

Finance Officer

Birmingham LGBT is seeking to appoint a Finance Officer to provide professional financial support to the organisation and to join the motivated and enthusiastic team at the Birmingham LGBT Centre, 151 Hurst Street, Birmingham B5 6EW. We are offering a permanent contract, full-time (37 hours per week) with occasional evening and weekend work. The post-holder will be entitled to 25 days’ annual leave, plus bank holidays. The salary is £27,506 per year, plus up to 5% matched pension contributions.

You will need proven experience of developing and leading impactful digital communications strategies or campaigns. You’ll have experience of two or more of the following: campaign communications[HP1] , social media, design, or video/audio production, and be keen to expand your skills further.

• Methodical approach to collecting data across multiple different methods, understanding what needs to be collected to showcase impact without being burdensome

• Hands on experience supporting frontline teams with data and impact collection, building their confidence and skills

Who we are.

Chance for Childhood has a vision of a world in which every childhood is filled with safety, belonging and play. We fight for children across Africa to lead independent lives through urgent action in education, health and economic resilience.

We work in four African countries (Ghana, the DRC, Rwanda, and Uganda) and we are carving out a niche as experts in inclusive education and safe spaces for children in vulnerable situations.

In 2022, we launched the #OverExposed campaign to advocate for ethical imagery and storytelling in the fundraising and marketing materials of international development charities. In 2025, the campaign is still going strong and providing opportunities to keep this important topic on the agenda in the development sector.

Your role.

As the Communications Manager, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering the charity’s communications strategy to raise awareness, increase engagement, and grow support for our vital work. You will manage all external communications across multiple platforms, including social media, website, email marketing, and events, ensuring a consistent and compelling brand voice. You will work closely with the Individual Giving Manager and Fundraising Officer to drive impactful campaigns. Additionally, you will play an essential role in promoting and protecting the charity's brand.

Duties:  

1. Social Media and Content Creation:

• Plan, write, and schedule content for all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok), ensuring timely and engaging posts.
• Manage and monitor social media engagement, responding to comments and messages.
• Develop and implement a strategy for growing social media followers and increasing engagement.
• Create high-quality multimedia content (stories, infographics, videos) to support campaigns and events.

2. Website and Email Marketing:

• Oversee and manage content updates on the charity’s website, ensuring it is up-to-date, user-friendly, and SEO optimised.
• Write compelling blog posts, news stories, and case studies for the website.
• Work with the Individual Giving Manager to develop and manage email marketing campaigns, including newsletters, donor updates, and appeals, to drive engagement and donations.
• Use analytics tools to track and report on the performance of email and web campaigns, optimising content for better results.

3. Campaigns, Advocacy and Events:

• Collaborate with the Individual Giving Manager and Fundraising Officer to develop and execute communications strategies for fundraising campaigns and events.
• Support the promotion of Challenge Events through creative content and social media.
• Create campaign materials and event collateral, ensuring alignment with the charity’s brand.
• Advocate for ethical storytelling practices by leading our #OverExposed campaign aimed at other charities in the sector

4. Brand Management:

• Ensure all communications align with the charity’s brand guidelines and tone of voice.
• Act as a brand guardian, ensuring consistency across all marketing channels and materials.
• Work with external designers, photographers, and agencies as needed to produce high-quality branded materials.

5. Team Collaboration:

• Provide guidance, support, and feedback to enhance the confidence of local project teams to produce quality communications, in alignment with Chance for Childhood’s shifting power approach and broader 2030 strategy.
• Work with programme staff to gather key project updates and ensure a steady stream of impactful stories from our work to be used in fundraising and communications materials
• Collaborate with other teams across the organisation to support cross-functional projects and activities.
• Coordinate internal stakeholders including programmes, finance, fundraising and Trustees to oversee the writing, design and publication of the Annual Report

6. Monitoring and Evaluation:

• Regularly track and analyse communications and marketing metrics across all platforms, adjusting strategies based on performance.
• Provide reports on social media, website, and campaign performance to senior leadership.

• Strong copywriting skills with the ability to create engaging content across multiple platforms.

Strategic Communications plans, orchestrates, and delivers highly compelling and distinctive external communications across the whole organisation to position SCUK as a modern children's cause and drive mass consideration, participation, influence and action to create lasting change with and for children.

The Global Impact Communications team strengthens our influence on UK and global decision-makers and build support of our work by engaging target audiences with stories about our global work. Through traditional, digital and social media, they support advocacy for the breakthroughs of survival, learning and protection, giving platforms to local leaders, partners, communities and children. They highlight the impacts of conflict and inequality on children, boost funds for our work and build support for international co-operation on the issues that threaten the right to experience childhood. 

About the role
As the Media and Communications Manager (Global Impact) you will produce distinctive, compelling communications and coverage that promote our global campaigns, responses and programmes, and help us achieve our influencing and fundraising goals. 

In this role, you will:

• Work with the Head of Global Impact Communications to ensure our coverage and messages are aligned with SCUK's priorities for advocacy and fundraising 
• Secure original media stories that stimulate debate, drive action by supporters and reach target audiences across all channels 
• Produce a range of coverage from hard news to PR, with powerful human interest content that connects us with supporters and builds consideration to donate 
• Grow media partnerships that help us increase support for our advocacy and fundraising 
• Gather evidence and case studies that add authority and relevance to our output 
• Liaise with the creative content team, the digital and social media team and the artists and influencers team to give your stories visual impact on earned, owned and paid channels whenever possible 
• Contribute to multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) and other workstreams delivering campaigns such as conflict, hunger, health, education, the climate crisis and the future of aid 
• Respond rapidly to emergencies, maximising our fundraising for DEC appeals or unrestricted funding 
• Deploy promptly in emergencies and develop stories and video at pace 
• Give children, families and local and national partners platforms to make themselves heard by large audiences through media and social media 
• Secure interviews that strengthen our advocacy and present us as thought leaders on global issues 
• Adapt the Global Media Unit's most valuable stories for the UK market with prominent messaging consistent with our overall output 

About you
To be successful, it is important that you have:

• Experience as a media/communications professional or journalist with a proven record of securing media coverage in a variety of outlets
•  A sharp news sense and the ability to talk to journalists on their terms about our global priorities
• Understanding of different communications disciplines and the role they play in delivering engagement, action and influence. 
•  Contacts in traditional and new media and a good understanding of how they work
• A sound grasp of what different media outlets want and an understanding of where to seek out newsworthy stories
• Good written and verbal skills, including the ability to simplify complex situations for mass media 
• A collaborative mindset for work with colleagues across the global movement with due respect for differences in culture and ways of working 
• An awareness of our key audiences and what content will engage and mobilise them 
•  Experience of producing eye-catching, shareable social media posts that extend your stories' reach
• The ability to react instantly to breaking news and write clearly under pressure to tight deadlines

Please Note:  This role will require a minimum of 1 day a week working from our Farringdon (London) office. There may also be occasional international travel required.

Location & Ways of Working:
The majority of our roles can be performed remotely in the UK, but at times you will be required to come to your contracted office (usually between 2–4 days per month, depending on the needs of your role, team, or service). For many roles, this is likely to be the minimum required to deliver impact.

About the role

As Store Manager, you will lead one of our flagship Mary's Living & Giving stores – a premium, fashion-forward charity retail concept created in partnership with Mary Portas. You'll be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Chiswick store, ensuring that it not only meets its commercial goals but continues to offer a unique, community-focused shopping experience that reflects the MLG brand.

You'll lead and support a passionate team of around 40 volunteers, maintaining their engagement while evolving the store's offer to reflect local trends and align operationally with other Mary's Living & Giving stores across the network.

In this role, you will:

• Lead, motivate, and develop a diverse volunteer team, creating an inclusive, supportive and empowering culture that celebrates each individual's contribution.

• Manage all aspects of store operations, ensuring excellence in visual merchandising, stock management, and customer service standards.

• Analyse sales performance and local trends to maximise income and profit, while maintaining the premium and distinctive MLG brand identity.

• Build strong links with the local community to grow the store's supporter base and reputation as a destination for high-quality womenswear and new goods.

• Diversify the product offer in line with community insight and MLG strategy, ensuring the store remains relevant, inspiring, and competitive.

• Ensure compliance with Save the Children's policies, safeguarding, and operational standards.

About you

To be successful, it is important that you have:

• Proven leadership experience in retail or charity retail, with a track record of managing and motivating teams (paid or volunteer).

• A strong sense of fashion retailing, with the ability to curate, present and sell products to a fashion-conscious, label-driven customer base.

• Commercial awareness and experience of working to sales targets, with the ability to interpret data and identify growth opportunities.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to engage confidently with volunteers, customers, and the wider community.

• A flexible, positive, and resilient approach, with the ability to adapt and problem-solve in a fast-moving retail environment.

Black Thrive is looking for a Project Officer to support community-led change as we improve Black LGBTQ+ mental health and wellbeing across the Black Thrive localities through our programme Black Queer & Thriving.

Black Thrive Global evolved from the work of the Black Thrive Lambeth Partnership, which was established in 2016 to address the inequalities that negatively impact the mental health and wellbeing of Black people in Lambeth. Black people’s cumulative exposure to negative experiences and poor outcomes are not unique to Lambeth and Black Thrive Global was founded in 2020 to address the detrimental outcomes for Black people of African and Caribbean descent wherever they may be located.

We're looking for someone who is confident in supporting the design and delivery of community-led research projects, supporting community engagement activities and providing administrative support to the programme. An understanding of health inequities, systemic racism and the experiences of Black LGBTQ+ communities is essential.

This role will focus on co-production, community engagement and participatory research. It is a great opportunity to contribute to meaningful community research while gaining experience in influencing health systems and supporting strategic partnerships.
