Job Purpose:

As a Volunteer Coordinator you willbe responsible for supporting the Volunteer Service Manager on the following:

• Recruitment and hiring process by advertising for available volunteer positions, working with line managers in interviewing candidates, obtaining references, health questionnaires and DBS checks.

• Updating andmaintaining accurate volunteer records and files.

• Preparing and presenting induction materials for new volunteers, including handbooks and induction programmes.

• Working with departmental managers to deliver volunteer training programmes ensuring regular,good quality, reflective 1:1 supervision for volunteers is carried out.

• Overseeing, logging, and supporting volunteer training compliance.

• Coordinating centrally controlled volunteering activity, ensuring rota information is communicated to volunteers and service leadersin a timely manner.

• Supporting the Trust's flagship events through coordination of the required volunteering activity.

• Supporting the volunteer service manager and team leaders to celebrate volunteer successes.

• Maintaining a central database of volunteers and projects, tracking key metrics.

• Responding to day-to-day queries from volunteers, escalating to the Volunteer Service Manager where necessary.

About You:

Educated to GCSE level or equivalent with Maths and English at Grade C or above with effective communication and organisational skills you will understand and be committed to promoting volunteering. Using your understanding and commitment to equity and diversity you willprovide basic advice on volunteering procedures to colleagues and applicants.

With a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint you will be able todemonstrate accurate administration skills including word processing, spreadsheet creation and digital filing.

A requirement of this role is the ability to travel between Trust sitesin a timely manner.

We are looking for an additional support worker with lived experience of self-harm to join our existing team working with people who have attended A&E for self-harm treatment. This role has been developed specifically for people who have lived experience of self-harm. Self-harm can take many forms but for the purposes of this role we mean things which someone has done to themselves with the clear intention of causing harm.

This role is not about sharing personal stories of self-harm, but some exploration of your experiences will be part of the interview and training process. All questions will be provided in advance of the interview and training will be run in a small, closed group. Both the interviews and training will be facilitated by people who have used their self-harm experiences in their working lives.

Duties and responsibilities

1. Support the day to day running of the Lived Experience Service by:

• Offering tailored follow up support to people of all communities and genders who have attended A&E for self-harm treatment including face to face or video chat meetings, researching community support and guidance in finding and using self- help resources based on the principles of mutual experience, empathy and holistic support;
• Where appropriate sharing ideas about ways of achieving goals, drawing on personal experiences and assisting people to decide what they want to achieve based on their circumstances and personal resources;
• Administrative tasks including researching and updating service resources and maintaining accurate client records in line with organisational confidentiality, data protection and safeguarding policies.
• Supporting their own wellbeing by engaging in regular supervision and appropriate training

2. Contribute to the overall running of the organisation through:

Often the first point of contact for our clients in Lambeth and Southwark, the Information and Advice Service aims to provide support for residents who may be experiencing social-isolation, low mood, anxiety or depression. The service handles over 1500 enquiries a year from people seeking support for a range of issues including welfare benefits, housing and homelessness, advocacy, family support, disability and legal advice in addition to accessing our mental health and befriending services.

As one of two Advice Service Coordinators, you’ll support volunteers to ensure that the service is running efficiently. You will be in regular contact with clients both interested in and accessing the service to make sure they have adequate support. This may include referrals and signposting to additional or alternative mental health and social support services.

You’ll also maintain the online Community Information Network (COIN) directory, which includes vocational and social opportunities for adults with long term health conditions who are looking for paid work, to move closer to their vocational goals or consider social and leisure opportunities.

Purpose of Post

The Carers Coordinator is an integral role within Hertfordshire Mind Network (HMN) and to the future development of the service. Betknowmore UK is proud to introduce 'Your Voice Matters,' our latest project aimed at addressing the unique challenges of gambling harms within London's Black community. With a focus on removing barriers and reducing stigma surrounding seeking support, our strategy empowers individuals, communities, and faith leaders.

We are looking for an experienced Project Coordinator to join our team and lead the implementation of 'Your Voice Matters.' Collaborating closely with our Director of Support Services and fellow Betknowmore colleagues, you will oversee the delivery of workshops, facilitate focus groups, and participate in community engagement events. Supported by our partnership with The Faiths Forum for London, you will play a pivotal role in fostering relationships within the Black community to maximize the project's impact over the next two years.

This position is primarily home-based, with regular travel across Greater London as required. The role is full-time, offering a competitive salary between £33,000 - £35,000 per annum, dependent on experience and qualifications. Additional benefits include a pension scheme and generous work/life balance. This is a fixed-term appointment for a period of two years, subject to satisfactory role performance.

• Enhancing awareness of gambling risks and signs of harm among women and minority communities

• Strengthening the knowledge and skills of external professionals, staff, and volunteers in understanding gambling harm and available support services

• Mitigating the stigma associated with gambling harm among women and minority communities

• Building confidence among women and minority communities to engage with gambling harm support services

• Creating opportunities for women and minority communities to contribute to the design and delivery of services tailored to their cultural and social preferences

Primary Objectives

• To cultivate a deep understanding of the distinctive challenges relating to gambling harm within the Black community. You will prioritise stakeholder engagement and be adept at facilitating community workshops, crucial components of the role

• Deliver essential education on the potential impact of gambling and associated harms

• A key aspect of the role will be stakeholder and collaboration management. Betknowmore UK works with partner organisations to ensure the very best standard of care for our clients, and we expect the postholder to demonstrate excellent customer service standards

• Strategically support outcomes to reduce overall inequalities in gambling harms, with a particular focus on Black communities, including women and affected others

Essential Skills & Knowledge

• An understanding of the role of lived experience in addiction recovery
• An appreciation and commitment to inclusivity and strengthening the voice of lived experience to help reduce stigma and contribute to social change
• Knowledge of charity governance, safeguarding and compliance requirements
• Strong administrative and organisational skills
• Experience of working with confidential and sensitive data and following best practices when handling this type of data
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to communicate effectively with people at different levels
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills
• A willingness and capability to allocate sufficient time, on a flexible basis, to carry out effectively the duties and responsibilities of the post
• Ability to work positively in a team
• Ability to work independently, prioritise, plan and manage own workload
• Understanding of using an Apple Mac and relevant software e.g. Excel, Word

Oldham Poverty Action Network Coordinator

The role

The post holder for this role will be responsible for co-ordinating the work of the Oldham Poverty Action Network and leading on bringing the Network members together, leading on the co-ordination of the key projects and programmes that tackle the root causes of Poverty in Oldham, ensuring that local people, community organisations and institutions can collaborate through the Network to achieve the Network’s shared vision. You will work closely with Oldham Local Motion who is a key funder of the Oldham Poverty Action Network.

The main things you will be asked to do in this role:

· To provide effective coordination of the work of Oldham Poverty Action Network and it’s associated programmes of work.

· To facilitate the Network’s meetings, creating the space for inclusive innovation through workshops and workstream meetings.

· To work alongside Network members to plan and deliver projects and programmes to tackle the root causes of poverty in Oldham.

· To engage stakeholders in the work of the Network and to ensure that the membership of the network is open and inclusive and reflects Oldham’s communities.

· To ensure that the work of Oldham Poverty Action Network is delivered in line with the aims and values set out by the Network and Local Motion and strives for excellence in coproduction and collaborative practice, including continuing to be driven by those with Lived Experience of Poverty.

· To actively connect with people, communities organisations and institutions in order to maximise the reach and impact of the Network.

· To ensure that the Oldham Poverty Action Network resources are spent in accordance with funding  agreements, the budget and that all reporting, due diligence and learning requirements are met.

· To ensure the Network communicates it work effectively and we are able to share learning and impact with key stakeholders.

The ideal candidate for this role will be someone who…

· Is a skilled and experienced facilitator and programme manager.

· Is driven by social justice and addressing the root causes of systemic issues, especially relating to poverty.

· Is rooted in community and understands the Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise Sector.

· Is a networker and can easily build strong, trusting relationships with people and organisations.

· Is a skilled influencer who can operate within partnerships and bring solutions.

· Is an excellent communicator and effective in producing reports and presentations to a wide variety of audiences.

Salary:  £35,745- £38,223 per annum

NJC Grade: PO1 SP 27-30

Hours: 36 per week (Monday to Friday, with some evening and weekend work may be  required)

Length of contract: 3 years with the possibility to extend.

Location:  Hybrid working – Working at our office and in communities in Oldham, and working from home.
