We provide devices, internet connectivity, and digital skills support to refugees. Our full-service digital inclusion support gives refugees an opportunity to get on with their lives. If they are digitally excluded, they cannot access education, employment, or support services. Being offline slows down language learning, delays the asylum process, creates social isolation and marginalises refugees at a time in their lives when they have to be online. We are looking for a hands-on leader who can bring significant income-generating expertise to a new challenge. You’ll sit lead our Outreach team, be a collaborative 'do-er' who leads inclusively, is passionate about our mission and wants to add value to our small team from day one. We want to work with someone who is excited by our growth journey and can be flexible and dynamic as we scale. We are launching our Senior Leadership Team this summer, which includes a Director of Income to take ownership of our income generation, drive forward our social value offer and lead our Outreach team effectively and kindly.
Purpose of the Role
The Director of Income role is responsible for leading our income generation. Our fundraising strategy is to significantly grow and further diversify our income, with a particular focus on corporate and trading income. The postholder will coordinate our fundraising activity, lead our Outreach team and work closely with the CEO to drive forward our income generation so we can safely deliver our ambitious strategy over the next 5 years.
In particular, the postholder will be responsible for coordinating and developing our income function, converting our strategic fundraising objectives into operational plans, managing the Head of Outreach and representing the organisation externally. However, the role is not solely governance and leadership - we need a do-er who is comfortable working in a small team and sharing responsibilities, including submitting fundraising proposals and taking responsibility for our reporting. They will work closely with the CEO, Director of Programmes, Head of Outreach and Communications and Fundraising Coordinator to ensure we are communicating our value proposition coherently and effectively to the important stakeholders that make our work possible.
We do not see this as a traditional fundraising director role - we are looking for a skilled generalist who can meet us where we are at by working confidently across Trusts and Foundations, statutory grants, corporate partnerships and traded services simultaneously. We are a small charity with 10 staff, so while we are looking for a decision-making and accountable leader, the postholder will be expected to support colleagues across the organisation. They will have a collaborateive spirit and the emotional intelligence to thrive in a small team.
The postholder will lead the Outreach team (CEO, Head of Outreach, and Fundraising and Communications Coordinator), ensuring we work efficiently and together. They will also model our values, actively promote our commitment to refugee leadership, and bring stability and leadership at a crucial time for our organisation's development. We are looking for someone humble and ambitious, motivated by our mission and confident in our ability to create a sustainable, full-service digital inclusion organisation for refugees and asylum seekers in the UK.

As the Head of Philanthropy, Asia, you will play a key role in growing Birmingham’s philanthropic programme in the Asia-Pacific region. The focus will be on increasing six-figure+ giving through the University of Birmingham Hong Kong Foundation and from the wider region. Most of their warm donors are based in Malaysia and Hong Kong, but there is an active community of alumni in Singapore and scoping to be done across Asia to drive the next phase of their strategy forward beyond alumni donors, and to build on a recent seven-figure donation as a catalyst for further giving.
The University established their Hong Kong Foundation in 2019 and giving is off to a strong start. Continuing on this trajectory you will work to make it financially sustainable, aiming to have multi-year commitments lined up. You will steer and develop the Foundation’s volunteer Board of Directors, increasing giving from their networks, and working with them to distribute funds to programmes at the University that will also benefit Hong Kong.
As a senior fundraiser in the Development & Alumni Relations Office (DARO), you will be expected to be innovative, self-motivated and to take ownership of fundraising in this region. As part of a dynamic team and led by some of the most respected names in higher education fundraising, you will work across the University to generate gifts to key philanthropic projects and encourage new donors to make significant gifts. You will also have the opportunity to work with the senior leadership across the University to travel, drive income and develop innovative funding proposals for the region.

Job Title: Development Manager

Job Summary
The Development Manager will be a dynamic and experienced fundraiser with strong technical skills in grant and funding solicitation, management and stewardship across Crisis Action’s current donor targets including major foundations, governments, and High Net Wealth Individuals (HNWI). They will serve as the anchor of a newly configured fundraising team designed to support Crisis Action to nurture its existing donors and secure the next generation of support for its ground-breaking work.
This role is pivotal in ensuring excellence in our outreach, proposals, reporting and communication to drive resource mobilisation that is essential for the organisation’s financial sustainability at a time when our distinct model and way of working is needed more than ever.
Principal responsibilities
Donor engagement and communications
- Oversee and coordinate day-to-day engagement with current and prospective foundation, government and individual donors by members of the Crisis Action team
- Represent the organisation vis-à-vis donor representatives
- Support HNWI donor benefits structure and cultivation plans
- Prepare compelling and timely donor reports, donor updates, letters of receipt and other outreach materials in collaboration with finance and campaign teams.
Grant management and oversight
- Ensuring timely and skilled drafting, consultation and sign off of high-quality grant proposals
- Timely acknowledgement of all contributions and compliance with donor requirements
- Preparation of high-quality proposal budgets and financial reports for donors in compliance with grant specifications and deadlines, in close cooperation with the Finance Team
- Review all grant agreements and monitor/ensure the organization's adherence to its contractual commitments.
Strategic vision and guidance:
- Provide strategic support to the Chief Executive Officer on short- and long-term fundraising strategies and broader resource mobilisation initiatives to ensure our fundraising strategy and its implementation helps achieve organisational goals
- Set fundraising targets and produce periodic funding forecasts in consultation with members of the team.
Research and intelligence:
- Carry out donor research and provide strategic insights and donor related updates and background information to relevant colleagues.
- Monitor and ensure a solid pipeline of donor prospects
Team coordination and collaboration
- Ensure that there is a clear workplan that anticipates what has to happen when to guide team resource allocation and workload management
- Ensure effective and efficient processes of gathering and sharing information across the team to support timely donor engagement and stewardship with clear protocols on the cadence of team calls and written updates
- Support colleagues to adhere to agreed fundraising roles and responsibilities
Communications
- Ensuring effective and timely communications to donors, Crisis Action’s board and team
- In collaboration with the CEO, ensure timely and regular flow of information to the team on fundraising progress
- Timely production of high-quality fundraising updates for our Board
Data and Systems Management
- Sustain, manage and where possible further develop the relevant administrative infrastructure, including grant tracking and reporting systems, Salesforce contact database, events calendars, contact lists, donor profiles, website and annual report donor acknowledgement lists and meeting minutes
Job Specifications
Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in fundraising, donor relations, or development within the non-profit or international advocacy sector
- A proven track record of engaging with foundations and government officials to secure and manage grants
- Demonstrated ability to forge new donor partnerships, and a track record of bringing in new revenue
- Strong understanding of government and foundation funding landscapes with at least some familiarity with differences between them and the stewardship of major gifts from individual giving
- Experience in drafting compelling fundraising proposals, reports and donor updates for a variety of donors – foundations, governments and individuals
- Strong all-round communication and storytelling skills
- Experience producing a range of communications materials for different audiences
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate organisational goals into actionable fundraising plans
- Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and grant management tools

Salary & Benefits
Salary: We have set bands for the salary range for all positions at Crisis Action. The baseline of our salary range for this position is £40K per annum.
Benefits: 25 annual leave days (30 days after 3 years). Up to 6% contribution to pension. 3-month long service leave after 6 years and one-month sabbatical leave in year 10. CA additionally offers an annual inflationary increase, and 2% salary increase in year 2, 4 and 8 subject to availability of funds.

As a team player, you will work with colleagues across Private Partnerships and Philanthropy (PPH), Communications and UNHCR global.
Passionate about the refugee cause and UNHCR’s contribution, you will have prior experience of writing for philanthropic audiences.
This role is integral to the development of the Private Partnerships and Philanthropy (PPH) programme. Role Responsibilities
The role operates primarily as an in-house writing and strategic support function, focused on the organisation’s highest-level donors and priority audiences.
Key responsibilities include:
- Taking the lead on drafting and delivering a bi-annually Philanthropy newsletter for existing donors and selected prospects, strengthening stewardship and positioning UNHCR’s philanthropic offer.
- Supporting the cultivation and stewardship of priority relationships through the development of bespoke, high-quality and strategically aligned concept notes, proposals, cases for support, business cases, and stewardship/impact reports for Corporate partners, Major Donors, Trusts and Philanthropists.
- Producing high value external communications for philanthropists & corporate partners, including CEO comms and timely email updates sharing relevant news and insights.
- Acting as a trusted internal service, working with colleagues to shape clear, consistent, and donor-focused narratives
- Developing trusted relationships with internal stakeholders across Partnerships & Philanthropy and relevant international colleagues to ensure messaging is accurate, aligned consistent, and reflects the supporter’s motivations and interests.
- Remaining flexible and responsive to emergency situations, supporting the development of targeted materials for priority audiences as required.
- Maintaining a bank of high quality, ready-to-use fundraising and stewardship materials to enable rapid response to new opportunities, including summaries of core thematic areas and flagship initiatives.
- Working closely with Communications colleagues to help position UNHCR’s philanthropic ambitions across external channels, including digital and social platforms. This includes occasional content development, reactive writing, and updating sections of the Philanthropy and Partnerships webpage.
- Managing deadlines effectively by setting clear priorities and timelines for drafting, review, approval, and dissemination.
- Staying up to date on issues affecting displaced communities, key campaigns, international priorities, and field-based reporting to ensure credibility and relevance.

We are seeking a dynamic and driven Events & Corporate Partnerships Manager to play a key role in delivering our fundraising ambitions across England and Wales. - Experience leading and developing high-performing teams
- Exposure to or interest in mass fundraising
- Strong financial, forecasting and pipeline management skills
- Expertise in working with senior stakeholders/volunteers, ideally including reporting to Committees and Trustee boards
- A successful track record of involvement in launching, managing, and evaluating campaigns
- Strong understanding of brand management, digital engagement, and integrated campaigns across multiple channels
- Understanding of digital transformation, including CRM/data integration, marketing automation, and analytics
- A data-informed approach, with experience using insight and systems to drive performance
- Excellent influencing, relationship-building and storytelling skills
Desirable:
- Experience leading an integrated fundraising and communications function within a frontline charity
- Experience of using Beacon CRM
