The Role

The CEO will be accountable to the talented and committed Board of Trustees and be responsible for the overall strategic management, leadership, and development of Harrogate Neighbours. Duties will include:

• Ensuring the development and implementation of integrated strategies across care, housing, operations, finance, marketing and communications, human resources and workforce, information management and technology, estates and performance monitoring, management and reporting.
• Providing overall leadership for Harrogate Neighbours in line with the vision, mission and values agreed by the Board of Trustees.
• Providing strategic leadership for fundraising and income diversification, ensuring the organisation has a sustainable and mixed portfolio of income.
• Developing and maintaining positive collaborative partnership arrangements with commissioners, local authorities, local communities, MPs, the voluntary sector, communities and other key partners and stakeholders.
• Overseeing the financial processes for the organisation and leading delivery of the agreed budgets.

About the role

We are looking for an excellent and experienced relationship fundraiser, who excels at identifying and building inspiring and genuine connections with high net-worth individual donors, who have the capacity to give six- and seven- figure gifts.

This role requires a motivated, creative and confident individual, who thrives on getting out and about and meeting with supporters. The role will help shape the Business Development and Philanthropy Team’s plans to deliver outstanding donor engagement and stewardship so that our donors are inspired and proud to support us and enjoy their philanthropic giving experience. This role will make a vital contribution to delivering a step change in our philanthropic income growth to support Practical Action’s strategic ambition and mission.

About you

We are seeking a motivated, creative and confident individual, who thrives on getting out and about and meeting with supporters. You will have at least 5 years’ experience of securing gifts from high net-worth individuals making gifts privately or through family trusts, donor advised funds and corporations.

Accountabilities

• Lead the process of identifying and cultivating individual donor prospects (UK and international) capable of giving six- and seven- figure gifts, fully understanding their funding preferences, criteria and fit with Practical Action.
• Steward a portfolio of loyal and high-quality donors, giving five and six figure annual gifts and ensure our donors receive exceptional stewardship, feel valued for their support and become advocates of Practical Action to their friends, family and networks.
• Work with autonomy and represent Practical Action at one-to-one meetings and networking events with high net-worth individuals.
• Work with senior colleagues and the Board of Trustees to identify prospects, build relationships and secure gifts from high net-worth individuals.
• Distil complex information and messaging into powerful, emotive and high-quality tailored communications (including pitches, cases for support, bespoke proposals and donor reports) that demonstrate impact and inspire giving by individual donors and family trusts.

Person Specification

To be successful in the role, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:

• Significant fundraising experience (5 years+) of securing gifts from high net-worth individuals making gifts privately, or through family trusts, donor advised funds and corporations.
• Excellent knowledge about philanthropy sector developments, trends and key philanthropic organisations and networks in the UK and internationally.
• A strong and proven track record of building new prospect pipelines and of managing a portfolio of donors, including demonstrable experience of securing six- and seven-figure gifts.
• An experienced and confident networker with a proven ability to build and maintain a diverse group of contacts, at all levels, both internally and externally, and represent Practical Action to inspire, secure commitment and support.
• Knowledge of data protection principles, legal requirements, and ethical fundraising practice is essential.

Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to summarise and distil complex issues in an inspiring way.
• Ability and confidence to influence and manage successful internal relationships including writing reports and donor meeting briefings for senior colleagues.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment, ensuring our donors receive excellent stewardship throughout their relationship with Practical Action.
• Strong project management skills to lead approaches backed up by an appropriate level of research and analysis.
• Enthusiasm and willingness to trial, learn and adapt — whether building on existing major giving experience or trialling new ideas and approaches to reach new donors audiences, for example next generation or diaspora giving.

About the role:  You will be creative, self-motivated, conscientious and energetic, and have superb interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with a wide range of people and build the supporter base of St Petrock’s. About the role

The Supporter Care Executive plays a vital role in delivering an exceptional experience to all UK donors. Acting as a key point of contact, the Supporter Care Executive will ensure that every supporter feels valued, informed and appreciated. You will handle a range of enquiries across phone, email and written correspondence, providing accurate information and resolving issues with warmth, professionalism and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• To be directly responsible for efficiently responding to supporter and wider audience enquiries and donation pledges; adding value, taking every opportunity to promote and exceed expectations. 

• Deliver a first-class experience to supporters by engaging in positive conversations through various communication channels, such as email, telephone and written media, meeting internal SLAs. 

• Maintaining and updating the FAQs for agencies. 

• Working with the Head of Fundraising Services and other internal teams on ad-hoc projects as required. 

• Assisting in managing external agencies, including monitoring performance. 

• Assisting with agency training and briefing.

Job Title: Head of Fundraising 

Reports to:   Deputy CEO

Location:  Contracted to Breaking Barrier’ office in London, Birmingham or Manchester, with some expectation of travel

Purpose of the Role 

The Head of Fundraising is a strategic leadership role within the Income and Engagement Directorate, with overall responsibility for the strategy, delivery and performance of Breaking Barriers’ high-value income portfolio. This includes corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations, statutory funding, and major gifts.

Breaking Barriers has grown into a national charity supporting over 1,300 refugees each year and raising c.£3m annually. Income from corporate partners and philanthropic funders has been central to this growth, with corporate partnerships integral to both income and the creation of meaningful employment outcomes for our refugee clients. As the organisation enters its next strategic phase, the priority is to develop national partnerships in line with a redesigned service model and build long-term resilience across high-value income streams.

Reporting to the Deputy CEO, the Head of Fundraising will translate organisational priorities into a clear income strategy that delivers resilience and long-term relationship-led partnerships.  They will lead and support a team of senior fundraisers, each with lead responsibility for a defined income stream, while maintaining personal involvement in a small number of priority, high-value relationships.

As a member of Breaking Barriers’ Joint Leadership Team, the post-holder will contribute to organisational leadership, culture and decision-making, and will help shape how we work with responsible businesses, funders and partners to advance refugee employment in the UK.

Key Responsibilities

1. Income generation and external partnerships

• Hold overall accountability for income delivery across corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations, statutory funding, and major gifts / high-net-worth individuals.

• Provide strategic oversight and direction to senior managers leading each income stream, ensuring coherence, prioritisation and strong performance across the portfolio.

• Maintain personal oversight of a small number of priority, high-value relationships, acting as senior sponsor and external representative where appropriate.

• Ensure a strong, diversified pipeline of prospective partners and donors aligned with organisational priorities.

• Champion excellent stewardship and supporter experience across all high-value relationships.

• Work closely with colleagues across the Directorate and the Joint Leadership Team to maximise cross-fundraising, partnership and engagement opportunities.

• Ensure that the voice, experience and dignity of refugees are meaningfully and ethically reflected in fundraising activity.

• Ensure accurate and consistent use of Salesforce for pipeline management, forecasting, reporting and analysis.

• Work closely with the Deputy CEO and Finance team on income forecasting, budgeting and financial planning.

• Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including GDPR and the Fundraising Code of Practice.

2. Strategy and growth

• Working closely with the Deputy CEO, lead the development and delivery of an integrated Fundraising Strategy that supports organisational priorities, financial sustainability and long-term national partnerships.

• Translate strategy into clear priorities, plans and performance expectations across the fundraising portfolio.

• Drive income growth while strengthening long-term resilience across high-value income streams.

• Develop and deliver national and multi-year partnerships, particularly with corporate partners and major statutory funders, ensuring these relationships are strategically aligned, high-impact and mutually beneficial.

• Ensure fundraising propositions are compelling, evidence-led and clearly connected to Breaking Barriers’ impact, working closely with the Services Directorate to reflect operational reality and client need.

• Strengthen pipeline management, forecasting and scenario planning to support financial resilience and informed decision-making.

• Identify opportunities to deepen funder engagement beyond income, including learning partnerships, influence and profile-raising where appropriate.

• Monitor external trends and risks affecting high-value fundraising, adapting plans proactively in partnership with organisational leadership

3. Leadership and team management

• Provide inclusive, ambitious and supportive leadership to the Fundraising team, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration and learning.

• Line manage 3 Senior Managers across Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy, each with lead responsibility for a defined income stream.

• Set clear expectations, objectives and KPIs for senior managers, supporting them to balance strategic leadership with hands-on fundraising delivery.

• Ensure effective prioritisation, realistic workloads and joined-up ways of working across a complex fundraising portfolio.

• Lead on workforce planning, skills development and succession planning within the Fundraising function, in partnership with the Deputy CEO.

• Champion strong collaboration between fundraising and other directorates, particularly Services, Communications and Finance.

• Model Breaking Barriers’ values at all times, contributing to a welcoming, mission-led and entrepreneurial organisational culture.

• Actively contribute as a member of the Joint Leadership Team, supporting organisational leadership and decision-making beyond fundraising.

• Provide clear, accurate and timely reporting to the Deputy CEO, CEO and Board of Trustees, attending meetings as required.

Essential

• Significant experience leading high-value fundraising across multiple income streams, with a strong track record of income growth.

• Demonstrable success securing and stewarding 6- and 7-figure partnerships or donations from corporate partners, trusts/foundations, statutory funders and/or major donors.

Our Second Home is the UK’s youth movement of young people with refugee backgrounds. Since 2018, we have supported over 750 young people from 53 countries to build community, develop leadership skills, and flourish into adulthood in the place they now call home.

We are recruiting a Fundraising Manager to act as the organisation’s operational lead for income generation. This is a part-time role (18–24 hours per week) with significant flexibility, ideal for someone who is organised, thoughtful, and motivated by building something meaningful.

The Fundraising Manager will manage and coordinate income across five strands: trusts and foundations, major donors, corporate foundations, individual and digital giving, and statutory funding. While the role has a strong trusts and foundations focus, it offers real scope to build skills and experience across a broad fundraising portfolio.

Working closely with the CEO, a highly experienced freelance Bid Writer, and the wider team, you will be responsible for developing funding pipelines, producing high-quality proposals and applications, stewarding funder relationships, and translating programme impact into compelling narratives. You will also play a key role in donor communications, reporting, CRM management, and supporting campaigns and events.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys balancing writing, relationship-building, planning and delivery – and who values doing fundraising with integrity and care.

About you

We are looking for someone with experience in fundraising (particularly trusts and foundations) or strong transferable skills such as persuasive writing, project management, or stakeholder engagement. You will be comfortable managing multiple deadlines, maintaining an organised pipeline, and working independently while staying closely connected to a small team.

You will bring strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build warm, professional relationships with funders and supporters. Experience using a CRM system is important, as is an understanding of – or willingness to learn about – the UK voluntary sector funding landscape.

About the role

Over the last two consecutive financial years, we have raised approximately £1 million each year – primarily through trusts and foundations, corporate donors, and individual supporters. As the successful candidate, you and the team you lead will play a pivotal role in maintaining this level of fundraising success, ensuring our vital work with young people continues to flourish. This role will involve:

• Reviewing and evaluating our funder qualification processes to ensure donors align with our values and meet our ethical standards.
• Ensuring that detailed research on prospective funding opportunities, including trusts, foundations, corporate partners, HNWIs, are carried out and that plans for making approaches are developed and carefully implemented.
• Initiating, nurturing and maintaining strong relationships with prospective funders and donors.
• Working together with the Senior Leadership to develop and periodically review Khulisa's 3-year fundraising strategy, taking ownership of key elements and processes, and periodically developing and testing new fundraising approaches.

Summary of the role: 

The Head of Income Generation & Marketing is a key member of Muslim Aid’s Leadership Team, responsible for executing the organisation’s fundraising and marketing strategy and overseeing all marketing and communications activities across the organisation. 4. Provide effective marketing leadership for the organisation in collaboration with key stakeholders and drive forward transformational integrated marketing activities and campaigns.
