About the role

This is a unique opportunity to lead a well established, community rooted women’s organisation with over 40 years of history. As Chief Executive Officer, you will provide strategic leadership, operational oversight and external representation, working closely with a committed Board of Trustees.

You will balance long term strategic thinking with hands on delivery, ensuring the organisation remains financially sustainable, well governed and responsive to the women it supports.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and delivering a clear organisational strategy aligned to the charity’s mission and values

The charity is a women only organisation based in North London with more than 40 years of history. It was established by women supporting one another through hardship and isolation and has since evolved to serve a diverse range of communities across London.

• Daily use of AI productivity and automation tools (e.g. Claude, Microsoft Copilot) with a clear view on practical applications for a charity of WJR's scale.
• Practical DevOps and cloud experience, including servers, networking, security, Linux/Unix, and Azure.
• Experience with Data Visualisation, warehousing and database technologies (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Looker, BigQuery, Microsoft Fabric, PostgreSQL and MySQL)
• Knowledge of Data Privacy, Data Security, and Compliance regulations (GDPR).

The Role

This role is a maternity cover contract position that will have hybrid working in the London offices for at least two days per week, for up to 14 months. The salary for this role is £60,000 to £72,000.

About The Bike Project

The Bike Project is an award-winning charity which refurbishes second hand bikes and donates them to refugees.  We were founded in 2013 by, Jem Stein, after he struck up a friendship and found a bike for Adam, a Darfuri refugee who had fled his home in Sudan after war broke out.

The Bike Project has grown into a national operation with new CEO, hundreds of volunteers, a team of committed staff, an online bike shop and two workshops, one in London and one in Birmingham.

To date we have supported over 15,000 refugees and people seeking asylum by giving them a second-hand bike. In addition, we have supported hundreds through our programmes designed to build confidence and build friendships in the local community.

 Role and Responsibilities

This role will suit someone who can adapt or work in a fast-paced environment, who can prioritise activities based on the expected amount of income they generate.

As Fundraising Officer, you’ll play a key role across a wide range of fundraising activities, including supporting Trusts and Foundations grant applications, managing our challenge events programme, leading DIY fundraising initiatives, assisting with individual giving appeals, delivering supporter events, and ensuring high-quality donor stewardship. You’ll work closely with colleagues to engage supporters, drive income, and maintain accurate records in Salesforce.

Skills and Qualiifcations 

We’re looking for a proactive Fundraising Officer with strong digital skills and experience using fundraising platforms such as Raisely. You’ll have a track record in campaign delivery, event management, and donor communications, with excellent copywriting skills and the ability to adapt messages for different audiences. Previous fundraising experience is essential, along with the ability to take initiative and work independently to achieve results.

Location

Hybrid - At least two days per week on site in our London office (Brixton) and Deptford workshop, the remainder of your hours can be worked remotely.

You will work closely with the CEO, senior colleagues, and trustees to develop a clear funding strategy, identify new opportunities, lead high-quality proposals and ensure funders understand the value and impact of Dialogue Earth’s work.

The Director of Development will be a key member of the senior management team, and share responsibility for delivering Dialogue Earth’s mission.

Main responsibilities: 

• Develop and execute a clear income growth strategy with defined targets, milestones, and measurable outcomes.

• Oversee the development of an updated funding pipeline.

• Lead and develop Dialogue Earth’s small focused fundraising team with clear objectives and accountability.

• Lead on Dialogue Earth’s engagement with existing and potential funders.

• Ensure funding reports are prepared and delivered on time.

• Lead on the submission of funding proposals, ensuring they are in line with editorial priorities and budgeted appropriately.

• Provide strategic oversight of key income generating events, ensuring they are leveraged effectively to cultivate and secure high value support.

• Support Trustees to act as effective ambassadors and introducers.

• Contribute actively to the senior management team, ensuring fundraising is embedded within wider organisational strategy and decision making.

Essential experience, knowledge and skills: 

• Proven track record of securing significant funding commitments.

• Experience building and converting a strong major donor pipeline, including multi-year commitments.

Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement (P&A) raises philanthropic funds in support of King’s College London and engages with the university’s worldwide alumni community. This is an exciting, cross-team role offering the chance to collaborate on a wide range of projects and creative formats. Supporting both fundraising and alumni engagement communications, this position is ideal for a creatively driven individual who enjoys working across the full breadth of a modern communications function.

You’ll bring strong design experience across multiple channels and feel confident creating engaging content for fundraising, research, volunteer recruitment and events. We’re looking for someone who is curious, adaptable and energised by variety - someone who can translate ideas into compelling visual and written content.

In this role, you will tailor content for diverse audiences across a range of platforms, so excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and build strong relationships will be key to your success.

As a core member of the team, you will help shape the external voice and personality of the Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement (P&A) team, working within clear brand guidelines while bringing fresh thinking and creativity. You’ll be joining a friendly, highly skilled and supportive team during an especially exciting period of growth and activity.

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an fixed term contract for a period of 18 months from the start date. P&A has a hybrid working approach, with a minimum of 40% of time in the office. Typically, this equates to two days per week, but we’re very happy for colleagues to be in more frequently if they so wish.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Started by students and graduates of Oxford University (hence the OK in our name - Oxford Kilburn) The OK Club has been providing activities for children and young people for the past 60 years and we have exciting plans for our next phase of development.

As well as continuing our programme of youth and children’s activities, over the last couple of years we have also expanded our provision to make the club building available to the wider community.  Taking an asset based approach, our Community Animator enabled us to open our doors and connect in a new way with our neighbours.

As CEO you will be responsible for overseeing three key areas -

1. our youth & children’s work,
2. our community engagement, and
3. our building.

Applicants will have proven experience of leadership in a charity or community context.  The ability to work positively with young people is essential, and experience of managing a building and budgets is also important.

Our funding from John Lyon is initially for three years but we anticipate that, with a brilliant new CEO our funding will grow to make the post sustainable.

The OK Club is located in South Kilburn, North West London.  We currently find ourselves in the middle of a building site (quite literally) and that our neighbourhood is changing drastically. Brent Council are continuing their massive regeneration project - demolishing all existing tower blocks and replacing them with new ones, with a greater number of housing units.  While much around us is changing, our desire to support children and young people with play and development opportunities is as strong as ever.

The OK Club currently has:

• A part time Youth Work Development Officer who oversees our youth work programme.

• A part time Building Manager.

• A part time Community Animator.

• A part time Children's Worker.

• Four interns (two full time and two  part time, shared with churches), usually from abroad on gap year schemes.

• Christian Holt House which can accommodate up to five further individuals who live as part of the missional community and are required as part of their tenancy to contribute to Club activities.

• A small but important number of volunteers are recruited from among parents and the community generally.  We are keen to grow this team, particularly with older young people and other members of the local community.

Our site contains the following facilities:

• A sports hall

• 3 x activity spaces

• A kitchen

• Garden

• Two upper floors which are currently rented out to other organisations.

We have been funded by Brent Council to renovate our Sports Hall and have ambitious plans for our whole site development in the coming years.

The work of the OK Club is overseen by a Management Committee (Trustees) who meet every two months, and the post will be Line Managed by one of the Trustees.
