Connect: North Korea is a fast-growing charity supporting North Korean escapees to build new lives after experiences of systemic discrimination, poverty, and trauma.

Our organisational income has grown consistently year on year since we registered in 2018. We now have a series of multi-year grants in place ensuring that 42% of our income for 2026 is already secured. We are looking to recruit a dynamic Head of Fundraising to lead and deliver income generation as we scale our work in the UK and globally.

This is a rare opportunity to work closely with the CEO and across programme teams to map out our annual fundraising plan, craft compelling cases for support, develop funder relationships, with an aim to securing our funding base year on year. 

Position: Head of Fundraising

Responsible to: Chief Executive Officer

Based at: Our offices in New Malden KT3 with some remote/home working. We will be as flexible as possible to accommodate the right candidate.

Contract: Permanent. Full-time or Part-time considered. Flexible hours/days possible.

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 FTE + 5% eligible pension.

Benefits: 28 days holidays exclusive of public holidays pro-rata. We also offer 2 additional days on top of this – 1 recharge day where the whole charity closes and 1 day in the week of a staff member’s birthday.

Role objective

Lead our efforts to grow and diversify CNK’s income across individual giving, trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, and community fundraising. Diversity our income base by increasing our unrestricted income, ensure organisational sustainability by securing multi-year grants and growing individual and corporate donations and grow our annual income by identifying and building relationships with new donor

About you:

General duties and responsibilities will be:

Work closely with Chief Executive to:

• Develop our annual organisational fundraising strategy and fundraising action plan;
• Draft fundraising targets and KPIs based on current income levels and our delivery plans for 2026;
• Lead and coordinate all CNK fundraising activity from Trusts and Foundations, corporates and individual supporters;
• Build relationships with major donors, corporates, charitable Trusts and Foundations and other institutional funders;
• Ensure all fundraising meets the Code of Fundraising Practice, safeguarding standards, GDPR compliant and CNK’s values; and
• Report quarterly on fundraising progress to Chief Executive and Board of Trustees

This role is situated within the Business Development team driving forward our trusts and foundations grant applications and our unrestricted funding portfolio. About the Role

We are seeking a forward thinking, creative and motivated individual who can envision and manage commissioned tenders, grant funding, individual giving, corporate partnerships and our training and consultancy functions.

You will be a highly skilled and successful fundraiser and business development professional.

The role will manage the statutory and non-statutory income generation team including tenders, grants and fundraising staff to achieve a net target of approximately £2m per annum. This team plays a pivotal role in the financial wellbeing of the charity enabling us to support the thousands of women and children who come to us each year as a result of violence against women and girls (VAWG).

· Develop new fundraising products and ideas to reach new and existing audiences.

· Make sure all campaigns are on budget, on brand, and follow all rules.

· Hands-on experience across key direct marketing channels such as digital (Lead Generation, Meta, Search, Display), telemarketing, face-to-face, and email.

· A strong understanding of regular giving, lottery and cash recruitment and how to optimise their performance.

· Confidence managing budgets and reporting to ensure campaigns deliver against targets.

· Experience collaborating with agencies and internal teams to create, deliver and evaluate integrated campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with the Community & Challenge Events Manager to deliver tailored supporter journeys and outstanding stewardship for community and challenge event fundraisers.
• Support the Fundraising & Marketing Officer with stewarding leads and enquiries generated through advertising and outreach.
• Manage community fundraising and challenge event registrations via the MQ website and platforms such as JustGiving.
• Assist with creating engaging marketing and stewardship materials for community and challenge event supporters.
• Contribute to developing new ideas and opportunities that inspire supporters and grow income for mental health research.

Key Activities

• Build and maintain strong, rewarding relationships with MQ fundraisers.
• Work closely with Marketing colleagues to develop compelling content and materials.
• Keep all challenge event listings on the MQ website up to date.
• Respond to social media messages and moderate supporter comments as needed.
• Attend challenge and community events (including some evenings and weekends) to represent MQ and support participants.
• Serve as a key point of contact for third-party event organisers.
• Manage enquiries and registrations from community and challenge event fundraisers.
• Identify and cultivate new fundraising opportunities with schools, colleges, universities, and wider community groups.
• Keep MQ’s database accurate and up to date, working closely with the Senior Data Officer to ensure correct income coding.
• Arrange and send supporter packs and fundraising materials throughout the supporter journey.

Person Specification

We're looking for someone with:
