Child’s i Foundation is a small but mighty social impact organisation that started in Uganda and now has a growing global footprint. Purpose of the Role

The Business Development Lead will play a critical role in driving the financial sustainability of Child’s i Foundation. This person will lead efforts to secure new income, grow existing partnerships, and strengthen supporter engagement. This role combines strategy and execution and is ideal for someone with a passion for social justice, a flair for building relationships, and experience in both fundraising and donor communications. The role will report into our Chief Executive Officer. 

Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Income Generation

• Develop and execute the fundraising and income generation strategy across diverse streams including:
  • ​Trusts and Foundations
  • Corporate Partnerships
  • Major Donors

  • Campaigns and Events (UK & Uganda)
  • Track investment in partnership with Finance Manager
• Identify and cultivate new funding opportunities aligned with Child's i mission, values and strategic objectives.

​Supporter Engagement & Communications

• Oversee supporter care and stewardship, ensuring timely acknowledgements and meaningful engagement.
• Manage and work with the comms team to develop content for digital fundraising platforms (website, social media, and email).
• Guide the comms team to develop compelling supporter journeys and storytelling that reflect the voices of communities we work with.
• Oversee the development of newsletters and donor communications that build long-term loyalty.

Operational Fundraising Management

• Oversee donation processing, database management, and tracking of fundraising KPIs.
• Coordinate with UK and Uganda teams to align messaging, campaigns, and compliance.
• Provide strategic oversight of volunteer-led and community fundraising initiatives.

Team Collaboration & Leadership

• Line manage junior fundraising support if applicable.
• Work collaboratively with programme, comms, finance, and impact teams to ensure donor requirements are met and learning is shared.
• Contribute to organisational learning on ethical fundraising, locally-led development, and shifting power to communities.

Person Specification

Essential

• Proven experience in business development and fundraising (minimum 3 years), ideally in the social impact or NGO sector. 
• Track record of securing income from trusts, foundations, or major donors.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives.
• Strong relationship-building skills, from individual supporters to institutional donors.
• Organised, proactive, and adaptable, able to juggle multiple priorities in a small, fast-moving team.
• Commitment to Child’s i’s values and vision, and to ethical fundraising grounded in dignity and equity.

Desirable

• Experience working in East Africa or with Global South-led organisations.
• Familiarity and confidence with use of CRM systems. We use Beacon. 
• Understanding of child protection, care reform, or community development sectors.

The post holder will be a key member of the Philanthropy Team and be responsible for raising capital and revenue funds from individual donors to an ambitious annual target. 

As Philanthropy Lead, you will support the existing Building Hope national campaign and future national, regional and centre campaigns, focusing on aligning prospects and donors with Maggie’s strategic aims.  

You will ensure the effective, long-term cultivation of prospects identified through volunteer leadership networks, existing networks of warm supporters, and prospect research. 

You will also be able to identify opportunities for a programme of engagement events designed to discover, cultivate and steward prospects and donors.

The role

The trusts fundraising officer will report to the trusts dunfraising manager.

We are seeking an enthusiastic trusts fundraising officer to join our team to help deliver our ambitious plans for growth. This new role involves managing a warm portfolio of trusts and foundations and finding new prospective donors, submitting compelling applications and providing exceptional supporter experience.

You will be proactive and passionate about building strong relationships with charitable funders and have previous experience of securing gifts from trusts and foundations or institutional donors. Additionally, you will have experience of identifying and assessing new prospects and have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong organisational abilities.

The team

Our dynamic fundraising department generated £4.5m through donations in 2023/24, and we are now preparing for an ambitious multi-million-pound campaign in support of a ground-breaking cancer centre on the site of the Royal Free Hospital.

We pride ourselves on being a supporter focused and agile function, working at the heart of the charity to deliver impact for patients and staff across our hospitals.

Responsible for attracting and retaining donors, and delivering an outstanding supporter experience, the fundraising department comprises two teams which work closely together to achieve our shared objectives:

• Our philanthropy & campaigns team builds relationships with individual philanthropists, trusts, foundations, corporate organisations and intermediaries, giving or facilitating donations of £10,000 or more to the charity each year. They lead major appeal activity for the charity, currently focused on our forthcoming cancer campaign, and special events to support these activities.

• Our public fundraising team harnesses the support and energy of individuals and groups, helping them to give back in the way that works for them. This includes committed giving, in memory support, gifts in wills, and fundraising events and challenges.

• Our database and supporter care colleagues underpin and support the entire department.

Connect: North Korea is a fast-growing charity supporting North Korean escapees to build new lives after experiences of systemic discrimination, poverty, and trauma. 

Our organisational income has grown consistently year on year since we registered  in 2018. We now have a series of multi-year grants in place ensuring that 42% of our income for 2026 is already secured. But we are ambitious. We want to do more for our community, so we are looking for a new, dynamic Head of Fundraising and Development to lead and deliver income generation as we scale our work in the UK and globally.

This is a rare opportunity to lead a fundraising strategy and plan across all major income streams—trusts and foundations, individual giving, corporate partnerships, and major donors. This role is an exciting mixture of leadership complemented by  day-to-day delivery. We’re looking for a Senior Supporter Journeys Executive to help us shape how our supporters experience our charity. Working at the heart of the Individual Giving team, you’ll design and deliver engaging, insight-led journeys that build loyalty, reduce attrition, and encourage long-term support.

This is an exciting time for the charity as we're delivering a new 3-year fundraising strategy with a particular focus on loyalty. In this newly created role, you'll play a key part in making sure every touchpoint, from the first welcome to ongoing engagement, feels personal, timely, and meaningful.

You'll be responsible for developing and improving multi-channel journeys for both new and existing supporters, coordinating the creation of journeys from various channels to help increase conversion. What we want from you

This role is a great fit for someone with experience in Individual Giving, donor stewardship, or similar supporter experience roles. You'll have a strong understanding of what drives loyalty and retention, and a clear grasp of donor lifetime value.

Your project coordination skills will be essential as you manage multiple priorities across teams, ensuring clear communication and efficient delivery. We need someone who’s comfortable working with data and insight to inform decisions, using CRMs (ideally Raiser’s Edge) and email platforms like Adestra to improve supporter journeys and campaign performance. You'll also have a good working knowledge of direct marketing concepts and multi-channel delivery, including mail, email, and digital.

Role Overview 

The Director of Development at the Foundling Museum will lead the Museum’s fundraising strategy, driving income generation to support its mission and programmes. Person Specification  

Experience (required) 

• Proven leadership, ideally at least 5 years, in a similar role where philanthropic and grant income is central to the success of the organisation
• Extensive experience of shaping and implementing fundraising strategies that have delivered a step change increase in actual income
• A substantial fundraising track record in securing income from diverse constituencies and across funding types, including personal experience in securing major gifts and managing teams to do the same
• A demonstrable history of innovation and entrepreneurial approaches to identifying income generation opportunities and pushing organisations forward to increase income
• Proven experience of nurturing long and short-term funding opportunities and being the key point of contact for both

About Now Teach 

Now Teach is at a pivotal time in its strategic journey, following a hugely successful media and bridging fundraising campaign that has raised over £3m in new income for 2024-2026 and achieved 32 media mentions (15 national) and 2.5m PR views. We are now seeking to significantly grow our donor base and fundraised income and therefore are looking to recruit to this new role. We are seeking someone who can support the Director of Philanthropy and Communications to deliver our strategy to increase income through the recruitment of new donors and enable and deliver work with our current funders (primarily individuals and trusts). You’ll be the person to ensure they have an amazing experience as supporters of Now Teach.

This role will be varied and offer lots of opportunities to get stuck into managing relationships with high value donors. Both the CEO, and the Director of Fundraising and Communications will work to steward the relationships with our donors in person, while this role will lead on delivering high-quality preparation, proposals, reporting, and data management that underpin donor relationships. You will also contribute to building connections across teams and aligning fundraising activities with Now Teach’s wider strategy. 

You’ll deliver exciting and engaging communications and events which inspire our donors to continue to support our cause, as well as be responsible for maintaining accurate records and reporting so we can give supporters a great sense of the impact their donations make. This role will work on a combination of externally facing and internal projects and tasks and will be a great way to advance your career in fundraising.

• Create and maintain a stewardship calendar of content, reports, and events to engage our donors, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities. 

• Write and produce proposals and applications for funding from major donors and trusts, in collaboration with programme and recruitment teams, championing user-centred thinking by representing participant and school impact in fundraising materials. 

• Write and produce reports with in-depth detail of what we have achieved as a result of the funding from our donors

Reporting to the Director of Fundraising and Development, you will play a key role in planning and delivering events, managing and disseminating communications and supporting fundraising efforts. The purpose of this role is to strengthen relationships across the Bancroft’s community - especially alumni and potential donors - through engaging events, thoughtful communications, and proactive logistical support. The post is full-time, 52 weeks per year. The working hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 4.30pm, with 30 minutes unpaid lunch.
