SW1Y, London

Contract, 24 months, Full-time
Job description

The role’s focus will be to develop and deliver approaches within a mixed donor pool of trusts and foundations, individual supporters, and companies in the UK and overseas. Fundraising will be centred on the Royal Society’s current programmes supporting excellent science, public engagement and international collaboration. This is a fixed-term role for 24 months to support the team’s transition into the Society’s new strategy, launching in mid-2022.

Under the direction and management of the Development Director and the Senior Major Giving Manager, the post-holder will make approaches in the range of £10,000 to £100,000 with some opportunities beyond that, so a track record of securing 5-figure gifts is essential. In the first 12 months, the post-holder will be expected to bring in around £350,000 of donations from 15-20 identified asks, against annual team income in excess of £5 million.

We are looking for someone with fundraising drive, strong interpersonal skills and organisational skills, who wishes to build their career by delivering results within this role. Some experience of working with senior colleagues and within a complex organisation would be an advantage, since that will be an integral part of success in this role. The role would suit a self-starter who is able to work independently, but within a framework of guidance from others in the team. Collaboration is at the core of what the Royal Society does, and the post-holder will be expected to build broad networks across the Society to help us secure fundraising income to deliver against the Society’s strategic plan.
