Job description
Accountant - Theatre & Arts

About Us

The Wales Millennium Centre (WMC) is a home for the arts in Wales, firing imaginations through world-class productions, developing emerging talent with pieces that are rooted in Welsh culture and igniting a passion for the arts in young people to drive the next generation of culture for Wales.

We are now looking for an Accountant to join us and support the financial growth of our organisation.

The Benefits

- Salary of up to £28,000 per annum
- 25 days’ annual leave plus Bank Holidays
- Pension with employer contribution (up to 8%)
- Access to shows and tickets within the Wales Millennium Centre
- Flexible working and the option to buy/sell leave
- Access to Welsh language training

If you are a CIMA, ACA, ACCA or AAT Level 4 part qualified accountant, this is a fantastic opportunity to build your expertise with one of the most successful arts organisations in the UK.

We have ambitious goals and finance is key in enabling us to reach them. As such, you will have the chance to learn from our dedicated team and gain new financial and language skills.

So, if you’re looking for a new challenge and want to join an organisation igniting the imaginations of people across Wales and further afield, we want to hear from you.

The Role

As an Accountant, you will join the Finance Team and ensure the production and delivery of accurate financial information while minimising risk.

You will support business partner activities for the Theatre Programming, Artistic Programming and Creative Learning departments. This will involve running transaction reports, posting journals and reconciling budget trackers and balance sheets.

Your role will also involve:

- Processing all settlements within a set timescale
- Undertaking additional project activity to support events such as the Festival of Voice
- Supporting the completion of the month end reporting
- Preparing information for the annual statutory accounts and requests by the auditors
- Posting requested journals and reconciling assigned balance sheets

About You

To join us as an Accountant, you will need:

- At least two years’ experience in a similar role
- To be a Part Qualified Accountant with CIMA, ACA, ACCA, or AAT Level 4 (with demonstrable QBE considered)
- Demonstrable experience of using accounting software, such as Sage ERP X3 V7 (or similar)
- Strong communication and customer care skills at various levels

Ideally, you will be committed to learning the Welsh Language, but this is not essential.

Other organisations may call this role Financial Accountant, Assistant Accountant, Part Qualified Accountant, Accounts Junior, or Accounts Manager.

We are interested in hearing from those with relevant experience gained within Accounts, Accounting, Accountancy, Finance, or Financial areas.

Webrecruit and WMC are equal opportunities employers, value diversity and are strongly committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all employees and all applicants for employment. Equal opportunities are the only acceptable way to conduct business and we believe that the more inclusive our environments are, the better our work will be.

So, if you’re seeking a new, exciting challenge as an Accountant, please apply via the button shown. This vacancy is being advertised by Webrecruit. The services advertised by Webrecruit are those of an Employment Agency.
