As Research Contracts Manager, you will play a vital role in the delivery of Alzheimer’s Research UK’s growing research portfolio. You will lead on the financial and contractual aspects of our research funding processes. You will help ensure our funding is administered responsibly, efficiently, and in a way that maximises impact for people affected by dementia. This role sits within the Research Directorate, an ambitious, supportive and friendly team, and working closely with colleagues across Finance and Fundraising,

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

Research award financial oversight

· Manage and develop the post-award lifecycle, ensuring compliance with ARUK’s funding policies and funding conditions, whilst reducing administrative burden.

· Act as a primary point of contact for host institutions on post-award matters, including financial management, reconciliation and contractual issues.

· Maintain systems to track financial data associated with funded grants, providing information to internal teams and act as the primary contact for all questions related to award finances.

· Collaborate with the Research Manager, Finance team and Research Leadership team to maintain robust grant forecasting and budget control across research programmes.

· Be a Subject Matter Expert for the Grants Management system and maintain accurate grant records and ensure internal and external stakeholders have access to accurate data.

· Provide advice and training on financial best practices to internal teams.

· Implement, oversee and refine a grants audit approach.

Research contracts and agreements

· Lead the drafting, negotiation, and finalisation of all research-related awards and contracts, including funding agreements, collaboration agreements, and data agreements.

· Develop and maintain templates and a database of executed agreements.

· Liaise with host institutions, collaborating organisations, and legal advisors to resolve contractual queries and ensure efficient processing.

· Work in partnership with internal legal counsel and DPO, ensure contracts are consistent with ARUK’s policies, funder requirements, and regulatory obligations.

Research policy and process development

· Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of ARUK’s research finance, grant cost and contracts policies, ensuring they remain aligned with best practice, proportionate and compliant with legal and regulatory frameworks.

· Support the development and roll-out of new funding schemes by advising on financial models and contract terms.

· Represent ARUK at relevant sector forums, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of trends and developments in research funding and compliance.

· Champion the implementation of the new Grants Management system across the organisation.

Management Responsibilities

· Manage, coach and develop of a Research Executive, effectively delegating work to support delivery of their objectives.

· Work to promote an inspiring team culture across the Research Funding team where personal development is prioritised.

What we are looking for:

· Significant experience in research finance and/or research contract management, ideally within a medical research funder, university, NHS, or research setting.

· Sound knowledge of research funding frameworks, budgeting principles, and financial governance.

· Experience drafting and negotiating research-related agreements, with a good understanding of IP, data sharing, and collaboration issues.

· Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and diplomatically.

· Proactive and detail-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

· Strong project management skills, with experience managing multiple priorities and identifying risks

Additional Information:

Ways of working: As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.

About the Role

Are you someone who is passionate about seeing positive change in our world? Can you bring knowledge and creativity in designing innovative and effective peacebuilding programmes?

We are looking for someone to support our programmes and institutional fundraising with excellent writing skills, who is passionate about addressing the root causes of and inequalities caused by conflict. In this role you will lead the development of new programmes and institutional funding bids in line with Cord’s peacebuilding approach and 5 main programme areas. You will manage proposal submissions to Cord's key donors such as the EU, US State Department, GIZ, SDC, UN Peacebuilding Fund etc. You will be working closely with country teams to design and write proposals based on strong project designs developed in partnership with our local partners.

The role will also operate at a strategic level by managing Cord’s relationships with key donors and shaping how Cord communicates about its programmes and the added-value that Cord brings.

The Role

As Finance Manager, you will be responsible for managing and monitoring all charitable income and expenditure, financial forecasting, producing management accounts, annual financial accounts, and maintaining effective control systems. The successful candidate will have charity accounting experience and at least qualified by experience in charity accounting. • Support Fundraising with donor reporting requirements, reconciliation of income received and reviewing of income against budget and forecast

• Contribute to strategic projects and funding bids.

Audit and Taxation

• Lead the relationship with the auditors, ensuring that the audit is delivered on schedule and all statutory filings are made on time.

• Responsible for the preparation of statutory accounts and supporting schedules.

• Liaise with tax advisors to ensure compliance.

• Complete quarterly VAT returns and Gift Aid returns.

Treasury

•  Lead in the management of bank accounts and deposits.

The salary is £38,000 FTE pro rata, for 21 hours per week, with 17 days annual leave including bank holidays.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

We are looking for a dynamic finance professional, eager to make a difference. We need someone as keen to get stuck in with the day to day administrative aspects of the role, as with helping us lead the organisation through strategic planning and growth. 

You have experience in effectively managing finances in a charity setting and can manage your own time effectively with great motivation. You are able to communicate effectively with colleagues, requesting information and presenting findings in a clear and approachable manner. 

Ideally, you combine the professionalism of the corporate world with the heart of a grassroots movement, directly contributing to the impact of this fast-paced, responsive organisation.

Essential

• Sound knowledge and demonstrable experience of UK Charity SORP, charity sector financial practices and preparing statutory accounts

• Qualified by experience or part qualified CIMA, ACCA, ACA 

• Experience of preparing and managing an audit process

• A critical eye for reviewing accounting transactions and ensuring accuracy

• Strong attention to detail with a clear and diligent working approach

• Experience of VAT within a charity context

• Excellent IT skills, including experience of using Microsoft Office; in particular great Excel skills

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with Sustrans as part of the Paths for Everyone Strategy to shape and develop the future vision for the National Cycle Network in the East of England.

As Network Development Manager, you will work closely with councils and partners to identify and manage a range of projects that will fix and grow the National Cycle Network. You will undertake and assist in the management of programmes and projects across the region, determining projects for investment, and liaising with local authorities and other partners to agree design proposals.

Supported Housing Manager

Treasures Foundation offers accommodation and outreach to vulnerable women who have backgrounds of addiction, trauma, mental health and the criminal justice system. We provide housing and support until women can make the transition into their own homes, with some long-arm support extending beyond this period.

We are the charitable arm of Bedford Blues Rugby Club. We use the values of rugby and sport to change lives through interventions and programmes that support our local community. With the Senior Communications and External Relations Manager, you’ll be responsible for fundraising and general communications, publications, external relations and PR. The successful candidate will possess proven experience in communications, marketing and external relations, ideally within an international and fundraising communications context. We would like to see demonstrable experience in creating and delivering campaigns from concept through implementation to evaluation.

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Business / Operations Manager to join our team.
