We have a vacancy for a Children's Residential Support Worker in our Walkden, Salford service to be part of our experienced team. You will work in a caring home environment with the wider team under the leadership of the Registered Manager, nurturing, and supporting the young people providing them with all the care, love and support they would receive as if it was their family home.

What can you bring to the service...?

• As a Children’s Residential Support Worker, you will provide a caring, safe, secure and accepting environment that meets the physical, health, social needs and rights of the young people.
• You will maximise educational opportunities and achievements for the young people by assisting in identifying, establishing and supporting educational provision and contributing to educational reviews.
• You will also undertake direct work that is designed to meet the young person’s needs as identified within the care plan, enabling them to reach full their potential.  Supporting the young person’s significant relationships will be a part of this task.
• Under close supervision you will take responsibility for key working at least one young person.
• You will maintain accurate and up to date records of the work undertaken with the young people and complete written reports for planning meetings and statutory reviews as necessary. 
• Support young people with their individual personal care needs.  This can include full reliance upon you to change continence pads, assist with full body and hair wash, as well as dressing.   Or, encouraging them to be as independent as possible and washing/dressing themselves to progress with their skills development. 
• Undertake a range of domestic duties, including cooking and some cleaning, to a good standard, to ensure compliance with health and safety policies and the guidelines for young people and staff.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly organised, detail-oriented Operations Officer to play a central role in ensuring the smooth running of Animal Equality UK’s internal operations and supporter services.

This is a varied role covering administration, finance, data management, supporter care, and event coordination. You will be the first point of contact for many of our supporters and stakeholders, providing excellent service while supporting team members across all departments.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Culture and internal support: Act as a culture ambassador, upholding Animal Equality’s values of professionalism, resilience, accountability, and compassion. Strengthen communication between teams and ensure effective use of project management tools. Identify and lead process improvements with guidance from the Operations Manager.
• Supporter and donor care: Serve as the first point of contact for supporter queries via phone, email, post, and social media. Provide excellent donor support, including thanking donors, resolving payment issues, and sending mailings. Maintain supporter and volunteer records accurately in CRM systems and ensure compliance with GDPR.
• Finance and reporting: Process expenses, supplier payments, and support budget forecasting. Assist with Gift Aid claims, monthly data uploads, and finance reports. Prepare scheduled reports and presentations to track progress against objectives.
• Team processes: Support recruitment processes, including application handling, interview coordination, and onboarding/offboarding schedules. Ensure smooth induction for new staff and manage equipment, training resources, and access.
• Events and operations: Assist with the organisation of internal training, team meet-ups, and supporter events. Support health and safety measures for team members and volunteers at peaceful protests, undertaking risk assessments and first aid training. Manage stock and campaign materials, fulfil supporter requests, and oversee mailing logistics.
• Data and systems: Conduct database cleansing and maintain accurate supporter, volunteer, and executive records.
• Represent Animal Equality’s culture: Support Animal Equality’s life-saving work by producing high-quality output, embracing and representing the organisation’s culture principles proudly at all times, and supporting our philanthropic efforts.
• Support with other ad hoc duties, as requested by your line manager.

The Adult Lead Worker service is based at our main hub in Digbeth but provides city-wide support to adults experiencing multiple disadvantage. This service provides flexible, strengths-based advice and support to people aged 18 years plus who experience two or more of substance use, poor mental health, history of repeat homelessness and offending history. Clients may also be serially excluded from services or be at risk of exclusion from mainstream services.

This is a targeted service that aims to build resilience, improve health and wellbeing and move people towards independent living at an early stage, in order to prevent or delay the need for crisis interventions.

The Lead Workers will also act as a community navigator linking the client into local services and activities, ensuring access to and receipt of necessary care and support that will vary for each client.

You will be leading a large team of Lead Workers and report to the Service Manager.

Selection of Service Management duties :-

1. To oversee operational delivery of the Adult Lead Worker Service to ensure that the outcomes are achieved in line with the contract requirements.

2. To manage data capture relating to the contract and ensure effective support plans, case notes and statistical data analysis is available.

3. To assist in regular reporting through a range of statistical data, case studies, client feedback and other routes on a monthly and quarterly basis.

4. Work alongside and in partnership with other services across the city to promote appropriate referrals and joint working to get the best outcomes for clients.

Our mission is to defend and amplify democracy by equipping individuals with the critical thinking skills needed to navigate the complex information landscape and engage as informed, active citizens. We have a strong track record of working with educators and young people across various contexts, and we are the secretariat for the UK’s All-Party Parliamentary Group for Political and Media Literacy.

The Position:

You will be joining our small, passionate NGO to support the delivery of our educational programmes. Reporting directly to the Head of Programmes, you will be tasked with delivering programmes on Political & Media Literacy, counter-extremism, and online safety. This will involve traveling to a variety of educational settings to deliver our programmes, alongside supporting our Head of Programmes and Programme Coordinators to recruit schools and colleges. Projects can vary from media literacy workshops for schools, online harms CPD training, to city-wide democratic engagement stalls.

The applicant needs to be motivated, interested in counter-extremism, and passionate about Political & Media Literacy. The job is based on a 7-month contract, with likely extension (including a 3-month probation period).

Key responsibilities

• Deliver a wide variety of programmes across a diverse range of settings and cohorts.

Qualifications

Good ICT skills, with experience of using data recording and data collation systems.
Experience of working with young people and their families, identified as vulnerable or having complex needs, preferably in a community setting.
Experience of inter-agency working, preferably with Children's and Family Services/Youth Justice Services/Youth Services.
Knowledge of issues around risk and vulnerability amongst young people.
Desirable: Relevant qualification in a relevant discipline e.g., youth, community, health and social care, management.

We are seeking a new Finance and Administration Officer following the retirement of a long-serving team member. A key member of the SLA central office team, the Finance and Administration Officer plays a vital role in ensuring smooth financial operations and providing essential administrative support for our membership. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, book-keeping and effective day-to-day financial operations, producing financial reports using our CRM (IMIS) and XERO, in addition to administration support.

You will be experienced in financial and administration operations of a charity or similar , with an AAT qualification or matching worked experience. Familiarity with XERO will be an advantage. You will be able to bring understanding of cashflow and financial analysis of figure, working with accountants as required.

You will also have excellent customer service skills and be able to work effectively with all stakeholders from our members, to funders to suppliers. You will be determined and have an excellent eye for financial and administrative detail. Your duties will include general administration and:

Financial operations and record-keeping

• Manage day-to-day financial transactions and maintain accurate records of all SLA accounts and petty cash; book-keeping
• Process and record all incoming payments, including foreign cheques (into bank account)
• Monitor cashflow and expenditure, keeping track of spending
• Pay invoices upon approval and ensure timely monthly payments (e.g. pensions, HMRC)
• Handle creditor and supplier communications and resolve related issues
• Monitor and follow up on overdue payments with a focus on membership payments

Invoicing and income tracking

• Issue and track membership and subscriber invoices and reminders
• Keep office team informed of payment statuses
• Prepare sales, cost, and profit reports for SLA publications
• Conduct annual publications stock take

Payroll and reporting

• Liaise with the accountant on salary payments; process salary BACS payments
• Support year-end financial reporting by providing necessary documentation to accountants
• Produce regular financial reports and analysis as required
• Supporting preparation of budgets, working with accountants as required

 Event financial administration

• Manage financial aspects of SLA events, particularly the annual conference (e.g., exhibitors, sponsors, and delegates)
• Process and record staff/trustee expense claims
• Support with bookings accommodation and travel for Board meetings

To be successful in this role you should demonstrate:

• Strong experience in financial and office administration
• Knowledge of accounting principles  
• Experience of working with XERO or similar
• Experience of using CRM systems (ideally IMIS)
• Experience of working for a small charity and / or membership association

The Sanctuary (Crisis Café) is a service for all residents experiencing emotional distress. The café is weekdays during the evening and at weekends in the afternoon. We provide initial support meetings both face to face and via the telephone, workign with clients to resolve immediate distress, and explore coping mechanisms. We then coproduce support plans with clients and offer 121’s, counselling, peer support groups and workshops as well as a social place to be.  

The support worker will be experienced in working with people in distress or who have mental health issues, highly organised and have excellent people skills.  A minimum of 3 shifts per week is required.

The role

The trusts fundraising officer will report to the trusts dunfraising manager.

At Worldwide Veterinary Service (WVS) we champion animal welfare around the world. We send vets where they are needed most, provide expert veterinary training in hard-to-reach places, and ship urgent aid supplies worldwide, every day of the year.
