The Role
Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the CEO/Director will be responsible for the overall strategic, financial, and operational leadership of Chelsea Theatre. This is a hands-on role with a focus on balancing the day-to-day running of the operational activities of the venue, with essential components such as stakeholder management, community engagement and income generation.
Key Responsibilities
The postholder will:
• Provide leadership and responsibility for the charity’s purpose, administration and financial management plus ensure compliance with the law and regulations.
• Generate significant earned income from one-off and repeat hirers, including local community organisations, commercial contracts, arts organisations and private hires, with a focus on high quality customer care.
• Increase income from grants, corporates and funds from individuals, with support from Trustees.
• Run the building as a community centre, making an ever-increasing positive impact in the local community and beyond.
• Motivate and engage a small team of staff and volunteers, and broad range of stakeholders and prospective supporters.
• Where necessary, with the team, be capable of delivering a range of operational tasks, such as updating the website and managing the box office systems.
• Act as ambassador for the charity, building relationships with partners and stakeholders in the community, local government and with businesses.
Strategic & Commercial Leadership
• Work with the Board to develop and implement a clear vision and business strategy to ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of the Chelsea Theatre.
• Identify and maximise commercial opportunities, including venue hire, sponsorship, and partnerships. Support the Board with fundraising.
• Lead on business development and marketing initiatives to increase revenue while maintaining the venue’s community-focused ethos.
• Ensure the organisation’s mixed team of staff and volunteers are focused on supporting the business’s mission and objectives.
Venue & Operational Management
• Oversee all aspects of venue operations, ensuring the highest standards of efficiency, customer experience, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Develop and manage budgets effectively, ensuring quality financial reporting, financial stability, and responsible stewardship of resources.
• Ability to optimise rental income and diversify income streams, while serving community needs.
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including funders, local authorities, businesses, and community groups.
• Operate within the annual budget. Monitor key indicators of the organisation’s impact and financial health.
Community & Stakeholder Engagement
• Develop and nurture partnerships with the local community, ensuring the theatre remains a welcoming and accessible space for all.
• Work closely with the Board of Trustees to align organisational commercial goals with community needs and expectations.
• Further develop a balanced and funded community programme, which currently include a flagship youth theatre scheme, to reflect community needs and interests.

We are looking for a Senior Marketing & Communications Manager who can help us deliver this step-change across our marketing, PR and press office function, increasing our reach and profile. You’ll join a team and organisation with big ambitions to expand our services and impact.
This is a brand-new role in the Marketing & Digital Engagement team, where the successful applicant will shape our marketing and communications strategy and support a team of three SMEs on marketing, media and PR, and internal communications.
You will lead and develop a high-performing Marcomms team, using your skills as a strategic thinker, creative communicator and natural coalition-builder to transform our capacity and capability, extending our communications into areas such as public policy, advocacy and education.

- You have extensive experience of building audience-centred campaigns and strategies that move brand awareness, salience and propensity to give
- You have experience of managing and developing a team, helping them to grow and deliver their best work with your guidance and strategic direction
- You have experience of building public policy and advocacy campaigns and messaging, working with colleagues to build actionable cross-channel campaigns
- You have extensive experience of building marketing and PR campaigns within a charity, NGO or public sector space, with a strong understanding of the collaborative and interconnected campaign approach of these sectors
- You have a strong track record of building relationships and successful outputs with editors, producers and key external influencers to further our mission
- You have exceptional strategic, communication and influencing skills, able to craft and sell high-performing campaign ideas and turn those into actionable plans.
This is a full-time permanent role, working 37.5 hours per week on a hybrid basis with the expectation that our successful candidate will work from our Godmanchester site approximately 1 - 2 days a month dependant on business need. The starting salary for this position will be £52,000 - £55,000 depending on experience. This is complemented by;
- 36 days annual leave per year (inclusive of bank holidays) rising by 1 day each year to 40 days after five years

About Aspens
Aspens is a charity that provides high-quality person-centred care and support to individuals on the autism spectrum and with learning disabilities, and their families. We provide an integrated network of services and support across the South-East to empower individuals to lead their lives as independently as possible.

Purpose of Role
This role will work with direction from the Marketing and Communications Manager to deliver marketing campaigns to raise awareness of and promote Aspens’ services, income-generation activities including fundraising, retail and hospitality, and recruitment; engage with our internal and external stakeholders; and reach new audiences. A key part of the role will be internal ‘customer’ support, collaborating with departments across the charity to meet shared goals in line with Aspens’ strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Campaign delivery
· Collaborate with the operations, fundraising, retail and recruitment teams to create and deliver comprehensive marketing campaigns to promote Aspens’ services, shops/e-commerce, hospitality, events and recruitment and meet shared goals in line with the charity’s strategic objectives.
· Create and deliver internal comms campaigns to drive engagement and increase retention of staff.
· Monitor and evaluate campaign performance by reporting on agreed objectives and KPIs.
Content Creation
· Develop relevant and engaging content to be utilised across channels, including, but not limited to website, social media, internal channels and email, in our shops, Bluebell Café and the community to reach new and existing stakeholders.
· Graphic design - production of assets for marketing purposes.
· Developing marketing and comms bank of photos and video; photography and videography at events.
· Working with external companies to produce marketing collateral (signage, banners, artwork, leaflets, branded items etc.) and managing stock levels of marketing materials.
· Review all materials to ensure alignment with Aspens’ brand guidelines and tone of voice.
Channel Management
• Under direction from Marketing and Communications Manager manage internal and external channels.
• External channels including, but not limited to: Aspens’ website and linked bookings sites; charity social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok); supporter communications (Mailchimp).
• Internal channels including, but not limited to: Staff intranet and staff newsletter (Mailchimp)
Brand Awareness
Under direction from Marketing and Communications Manager promote Aspens and the impact of our work to relevant stakeholders and audiences. This includes digital and traditional advertising, management of Awards nominations, PR and media.
Audience Insight
· Utilise audience data to develop understanding of audiences.
· Carry out research to monitor and keep up to date with marketing and charity trends and best practice to support audience engagement.
· Share insights with Marketing and Communications Manager.
Events
• Collaborate with the Business and Income Generation Team to support the planning and promotion of events and represent Aspens at events, some of which may require evening or weekend attendance.
Team Working
• Work closely with Marketing and Communications Manager and Business and Income Generation Team and build strong relationships with teams across the organisation.
Other
· Occasional travel to other offices, services and shops across Aspens’ region.

What We’re Looking For
Essential Experience
● Minimum 3 years in fundraising, marketing, or communications in a relevant sector.
● Track record of developing and delivering successful income-generation and engagement strategies.
● Strong communications experience across digital platforms and media engagement.
Essential Skills

● Website and CMS management; confident with tools like Mailchimp, Eventbrite, and Zoom.

What We Offer

Purpose of the job
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Communications Officer to play a key role in enhancing both our internal communications and engagement with our network of youth organisations. Key responsibilities
Network Communications

Develop and deliver engaging content for newsletters, emails, and online platforms to keep our network of youth organisations informed and engaged

Develop and deliver engaging communications of our programmatic work, along with the creation of communication plans in partnership with our Network Delivery team

Create compelling stories and case studies that highlight the impact of our work and the achievements of our partners

Manage and update communication materials and resources for youth organisations

Support in the planning and execution of events, webinars, and campaigns that connect and inspire our network

Work with the Communications Manager and Marketing Manager to identify opportunities and case studies for other external audiences

Understanding of the use various communication methods and channels

Excellent copy writing skills, ensuring brand guidelines and tone of voice are consistent across all messaging
Internal Communications

Support the development and delivery of internal communications strategies to ensure staff and key stakeholders are informed and aligned

Support CEO with all across organisation communications

Write and edit internal newsletters, updates, and key messages

Work closely with different teams to gather and share insights, success stories, and key initiatives

Develop and manage internal communication platforms and explore innovative ways to enhance engagement.
Experience

At least two years’ experience in communications, marketing, PR, or a related field, ideally within a charity, non-profit, or purpose-driven organisation.

Experience in writing and creating engaging content for different audiences across newsletters, emails, websites, and social media.

Familiarity with both internal and external communications, including staff engagement, stakeholder messaging, and storytelling.

Experience using digital communication tools such as email marketing platforms, CMS, or social media scheduling tools.

Exposure to event coordination, campaign support, or content creation for events/webinars.

Experience managing communication materials and ensuring consistency in messaging and branding.

Job purpose:
We are looking for an organised, enthusiastic, and experienced Digital Marketing Executive with a passion for social media and marketing to join the Spread a Smile team.
Reporting to the Head of Marketing, you will help to deliver our marketing strategies and day-to-day output across our digital platforms including social media, website and e-comms and our Smile TV online viewing channel for families.
You will play a key role driving social media growth with responsibility for developing and posting creative content and managing interactions across our social media platforms, ensuring that we remain consistent in terms of brand and tone. You will have an excellent understanding of and passion for social media (TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X and LinkedIn), uses, trends and development.
You will provide marketing support across the Fundraising and Services team, including producing marketing/fundraising materials and literature, appeals and events collateral (services and fundraising related), case stories, PR activity, and supporting management of our photo / film libraries and brand.
You will be brilliantly organised, and comfortable working across a wider team, juggling multiple projects at a time. You will be willing to go the extra mile to help us reach new audiences and achieve our strategic aims.
Key responsibilities and duties:
• Responsible for the day-to-day output of our social media content across Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok and LinkedIn (we use Hootsuite). Scheduling, writing and producing content (including reels), responding to comments and messages etc.
• Leading on the development of our TikTok channel, delivering engaging content and plans to grow this platform in particular. Also mirroring for Instagram too.
• Managing our Linktree platform (Instagram) and exploring other suitable platforms and reporting for socials.
• Supporting the Head of Marketing to develop social media strategies and growth plans, identifying new audiences, influencer targets, creative content, trends, and PR/marketing opportunities and exploring sponsorship and advertising.
• Using Canva to create social media content, charity materials and videos/reels.
• Responsible for the day-to-day upkeep and update of the Spread a Smile website, making amends and creating content as required.
• Supporting the Head of Marketing on wider website development and marketing strategies and support tools such as researching and using AI i.e. ChatGPT.Responsible for creating monthly supporter e-newsletter in Mailchimp, regular family e-newsletters (4 per annum) and other e-comms, (with Head of Marketing leading on content strategy), helping to ensure schedules for delivery are agreed and adhered to.
• Working with the Head of Marketing to maintain brand quality control, ensuring brand guidelines and support materials are up-to-date and accessible to the whole team.
• Researching and exploring marketing and promotional initiatives and avenues such as Google Ads, PPC, Instagram / Facebook promotions / sponsorship / ads etc.
• Managing Google Analytics and communications tracking, producing monthly reporting on marketing activity using agreed reporting template, including website activity, e-comms performance, social media performance and growth and audience analysis.
• Liaising with external designers as required on charity collateral and managing relationships with printers, obtaining relevant quotes and ensuring costing clarity.
• Supporting the Head of Marketing and wider fundraising team on fundraising appeals and events, helping to deliver relevant collateral, promotional strategies and communications and supporting fundraising relationship requirements as needed (i.e. website news stories etc).
• Working closely with the Head of Marketing and Services team to support marketing requirements for the Services and family events, including delivery and production of materials, visiting hospital partners to take good quality photos and film content etc.
• Attending our Family events as required to support with photos and marketing content.
• Helping to maintain our photo library and ensuring good management systems
General:
