We are seeking a skilled Programme Officer to support the end-to-end delivery of our sector-leading mentoring programme, ensuring participants join smoothly and are supported throughout. You will also support partners and donors to contribute to the delivery and expansion of the programme. CVAA UK is a membership organisation supporting not-for-profit adoption agencies across the UK who specialise in finding homes for children in care. Over 3000 children in the UK need adoption each year because they cannot remain at home or with family members. The CVAA Practice Programme delivers 30 or more online courses each year to those working in the sector, primarily social workers. Due to a restructure of the team, we are now looking for a Training Manager who can oversee the delivery of the programme from mid to late July 2024. Initially fixed term, it is anticipated that this post will become permanent.
The Training Manager will work with the Head of Practice Development and the Programme Administrator to ensure that the courses are full, delivered effectively and evaluated. Part of the role will also be to source new trainers and support the creation of the programme into 2025.
The CVAA team work remotely across the UK so location of the postholder is not a barrier to recruitment as long as long as they can travel occasionally and come into London for team days. The team is small, diverse and dynamic. Experience of project management or delivery of training or events is more important than knowledge of adoption or children's social care. Role Summary
This position provides key support for the policy and research functions of the charity, in addition to collaborating on campaigns and public affairs work. You will be responsible for carrying out primary research relevant to the charity’s policy and research functions. JOB DESCRIPTION
Strategy and Operations
1. Develop, implement, and lead execution of the charity's annual operational plan and 3-year strategic plan.
2. Identify appropriate level of staffing, volunteering, ensuring that all staff and volunteers are appropriately interviewed, vetted, inducted, trained, developed, and supported to deliver against their objectives.
3. Ensure appropriate upkeep, security, and management of the charity’s premises, including all relevant contracts and payments.
4. Ensure that the charity’s IT systems are fit for purpose and compliant with relevant law.
People
5. Line management of seven staff members, and responsibility for staff and team development, cohesion and appraisals.
6. Recruit and support social club facilitators and appropriate consultants to provide additional resource to the charity as required.
7. Lead staff member for safeguarding, liaising directly with Hammersmith and Fulham Adult Social Care.
8. Ensure appropriate mechanisms and safeguards are in place to support up to 100 regular volunteers, and up to 100 additional corporate/student volunteers.
9. Ensure appropriate mechanisms and safeguards are in place to support up to 500 beneficiaries and additional attendees at FGN events.
Finance and Fundraising
10. Develop, implement, and lead charity’s financial and fundraising planning and management, ensuring that the charity operates at least at break-even, ideally with a small surplus.
11. Ensure that the charity has a diverse range of income across various streams, inclusive of (but not limited to) public sector, trusts and foundations, corporate income, events, and online giving.
12. Ensure that the charity is receiving value for money with all expenditure, ensuring contract review on a timely basis as appropriate.
13. Ensure appropriate cashflow projections so that expenditure does not exceed income in any one year unless pre-agreed with trustees.
14. Ensure that appropriate financial controls are in place so to protect charity and anyone handling money on behalf of the charity.
15. In conjunction with the finance administrator and hon. treasurer monitor all income, expenditure, accounts, funding investments and budgets.
Governance
16 Ensure compliance with charity and company law, inclusive of writing, presentation and filing of annual report and accounts and other Company Secretary duties.
17 Organise, attend, record and report at board meetings every two months, inclusive of finance and operations reporting and the regular cycle of governance reviews.
18 Plan, organise and attend AGM and annual strategy session.
19 Ensure appropriate level of risk management and insurance are in place for the charity.
20 Ensure all relevant policies, procedures and financial controls are in place, inclusive of annual review.
Communications and Impact
21. Represent and promote the charity in public, sourcing media opportunities as appropriate so to increase visibility.
22. Represent the charity on appropriate networks and forums so to develop stakeholder relationships and source opportunities for cross-partner collaboration.
23. Ensure positive, fit-for-purpose, internal and external communications, inclusive of monthly newsletters, social media presence and other marketing materials.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential requirements

Due to heavy investment and ambitious growth plans across Individual Giving & Engagement, this newly created role will play a pivotal role in achieving key objectives and income targets across the Individual Giving & Engagement program.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Corporate Fundraising Manager to work closely with the Head of Programme Funding to drive new donor engagement and secure sustainable, multi-year funding. The role
MIND in Haringey and its partner Public Voice delivers the Voluntary and Community (VCS) Capacity Building contract commissioned by the London Borough of Haringey. The contract, which runs from May 2024 to April 2027 can be extended for a further four years at the discretion of the Client. A charity supports people living with dystonia; an often debilitating and painful disorder that is lifelong and is estimated to affect around 100,000 people in the UK, Dystonia UK is a lifeline for many. In addition to running vital support groups, this small but mighty organisation actively lobbies on behalf of patients and runs national awareness campaigns to help increase understanding of a condition that can be hugely debilitating.
The organisation is expanding and is looking for a talented Communications Officer to work closely with the Director of Fundraising and Communications in a role that will be busy, hands on, and key to communicating the amazing and important work this organisation undertakes to its audiences.
Key responsibilities within the Communications Officer role will include:
- Writing engaging copy for a variety of mediums including both printed and digital
- Support the Director of Fundraising and Communications in creating and designing digital and print collateral for campaigns and events
- Lead on the design and publication of high-quality digital and print information about Dystonia UK, its services, projects, and about dystonia, the condition, and medical services.

Dystonia UK is a small charity, and this is a busy role where someone with some communications experience will have the opportunity to work closely with a dynamic Director to really develop their skills and expertise both operationally and strategically. Duties and key responsibilities
Community fundraising
- Manage and develop regional fundraising by devising a regional community fundraising strategy for income generation.
- Design and develop Sarcoma UK's calendar of annual community fundraising campaigns and events communication, including Cuppa and Cake.
- Introduce fundraising opportunities to our existing and potential supporters through a multi-channelled marketing strategy to grow levels of engagement and participation.
- Identify opportunities and recruit new community fundraisers, fundraising groups, corporate and school partners.
- Work with the Fundraising team to produce regular feedback reports and analysis on specific community products and overall revenue.
- Lead on promotion of community fundraising through digital marketing, PR, speaking engagements and on the ground fundraising.
Management
- Provide line management and day-to-day support to the Regional Fundraising Officer North, building their fundraising knowledge.
- Develop, manage, and monitor budgets for your areas of responsibility.
Income Generation
- Implement agreed KPIs, objectives and budget for the Regional Fundraising Team to drive support and engagement.
- Identify fundraising products, key accounts, and projects that will support income growth both locally and nationally.
- Responsible for monitoring and managing all income streams across all community fundraising lines including Gift Aid and working closely with the Operations Team.
Processes, administration, and reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date supporter records on Sarcoma UK’s database (Raiser’s Edge).
- Ensure all recording, and stewardship processes are up to date and working across the fundraising team, wider charity and in accordance with current laws and regulations.
- Ensure necessary Community Fundraising policies are up to date.
- Follow Sarcoma UK’s processes and procedures including risk assessments to ensure a consistent approach and maintain a high level of support expected by our donors and fundraisers.
- Ensure that all activities are compliant with legislation governing fundraising including GDPR, health and safety, Institute of Fundraising, and the Fundraising Regulator Code of Conduct.
Wider fundraising
- Support company and corporate partnerships that utilise community and trade fundraising.
- Support third party fundraising and challenge event portfolio.
- Work with the Events Manager to develop merchandise and trade income opportunities.
- Support with managing merchandise supplier relationships and internal and external stock levels.
General
- The role requires some travel to events and meetings throughout the UK. Some weekend or evening work will also be required and time off in lieu will be given. Travel expenses will be reimbursed (exc. Travel to the Sarcoma UK office).
- Stay up to date with the latest knowledge in fundraising and ensure Sarcoma UK’s processes and procedures follow best practice.
- The post holder will be working in a developing environment, and they will therefore be required to undertake other appropriate duties as necessary for the efficient operation of Sarcoma UK.
