BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Emmanuel is one of the Colleges that make up the collegiate structure of the University of Cambridge. We provide a community-focused environment for learning, living and working in peaceful and beautiful grounds situated in the centre of the City. The College was founded in 1584 by Sir Walter Mildmay and has been a centre of outstanding learning ever since. It currently has around 700 students (undergraduate and postgraduate), 90 Fellows (who teach and research at the College) and 180 staff. We welcome people into the Emma community from across the globe, of many different backgrounds, with many different experiences.
The Development Office supports the college in its charitable purpose by building and maintaining a supportive, lifelong, two-way relationship with Members (alumni), and engaging the community of members and friends to contribute their time, expertise and philanthropy. Between 2015 and 2022, the Development Office raised £38m in new philanthropic income through the Emma enables campaign. This was the college’s most successful campaign ever and saw a significant uplift in philanthropy across major, regular, and legacy giving. We are looking now to build on this momentum as we plan the next campaign.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITES
The post-holder’s principal objective is to manage the successful development and delivery of the College’s regular giving programme, using multi-channel approaches to increase the value and number of members (alumni) and friends who give, to build on this sustainable annual source of philanthropic income.
Fundraising
- Manage and develop a successful regular giving programme, taking initiative to plan and organise an annual cycle of activity to ensure all contactable members are solicited for a gift once a year, maximising donor retention.
- Manage and deliver the annual telephone campaign, including working with consultants, preparing data, drafting letters, recruiting students, training and call-room management.
- Organise mass and tailored annual appeals (both digital and postal) to members.
- Achieve annual targets for increasing the percentage and number of members and friends who give, set in collaboration with the Head of Development.
- Move prospects through the gift cycle and up the giving ladder in a timely manner.
- Identify and refer regular or longstanding donors with potentially greater capacity to other fundraisers as appropriate.
Communications
- Contact donors whose pledges are due to expire to encourage renewals and upgrades.
- Prepare thank you letters ensuring that donors to the regular giving programme are thanked promptly and appropriately.
- Confidently engage with the college community – including students and Fellows – to gain an understanding of the need for philanthropic support.
- Write compelling fundraising copy for mass appeals.
- Work with the Engagement Manager to contribute to the production of stewardship materials.
Analysis and Innovation
- Analyse the performance and effectiveness of solicitations and mailings, identifying trends, testing solutions, sourcing additional related information where appropriate.
- Analyse sector benchmarking data to provide strategic insight into the comparative performance of the College’s regular giving programme.
- Develop a strong knowledge of sector best practice through networking, benchmarking, identifying and undertaking training and development opportunities and, where appropriate, implement these best practices.
- Research and identify new opportunities, thinking creatively to develop unique appeals.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues across the Collegiate University, attending working groups, training opportunities and the annual development conference where appropriate.
General Administration
- Ensure that data is recorded accurately and concisely on the Raiser’s Edge database.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality in the maintenance of personal and financial records and ensure compliance at all times with Data Protection legislation.
- Have expert knowledge and understanding of current legislation impacting upon regular giving and stewardship, marketing and operations, such as gift aid, General Data Protection Regulations and fundraising regulation, and ensure operational compliance.
- Represent and promote the Development Office within college and externally, attending occasional member events where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Development team and across the college in delivering the overall Development Strategy.
- Any other duties reasonably required of the Regular Giving Officer.
- Manage own workload, undertaking planning, agreeing priorities and timescales to meet schedules and deadlines in an effective and efficient manner.
There will occasionally be the requirement to work additional hours during peak periods, but this will be sufficiently planned in advance with time off in lieu.

Responsibilities
In this role you will have 6 key responsibilities:
Financial: Managing a portfolio of high-value relationships and to deliver income at the agreed annual target in the first year with an expectation this will rise year on year.
Management: You will be one of the first points of contact internally for trusts/foundations and individual major donors (IMD) related queries and will work in accordance with the major giving team strategic plan and existing procedures, practices and standards.
Relationship:You will seek to actively develop and manage excellent relationships with an agreed portfolio of trusts/foundations and IMD capable of donating a minimum of £25,000 or more as a single gift each year. In addition you will need to:
- Develop and implement professionally written action plans which will engage, inform and nurture prospects and donors to deliver gifts at the agreed level.
- Undertake timely administration to capture and record knowledge of supporters within the customer relationship management database. Work with the organisation’s systems team to utilise this information to enhance applications and giving levels
- Pro-actively develop relationships with key stakeholders within the MAF organisation(s)
- Present MAF proposals alone or with others, (member of the operational field team, CEO etc), to prospects and donors.
- Participate in events to develop relationships with donors, inviting individuals from portfolios where appropriate and co-ordinate visits to MAF overseas operations where appropriate to introduce these donors directly to the work of MAF.
Information: Information management and analytical thinking is essential as you will present detailed, accurate and high-quality fundraising proposals to prospects and donors, ensuring any specific deadlines or funding windows are complied with. In addition you will need to:
- Ensure that donors are thanked appropriately for their gifts with timely and appropriate reports, letters and phone call.
- Provide timely ‘report backs’ that are appropriate/agreed with each donor, to evidence effective use of funding and to encourage the opportunity to make further applications based on good stewardship and achievement of agreed outcomes.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge, and the funding priority, of projects available for funding by trusts/foundations supporters and prospects.
- Actively seeking to grow the trusts/foundations portfolio and income through the use of research
- Attending regular appropriate training courses, external forums and networks to ensure continuous personal development
Major Donor team (practice/ procedures/training):As a key member of the team you will need to ensure procedures and standards are developed/maintained to ensure we are effective and compliant with any legislation/regulation.
CRM Database: To provide support to the Partnership Executive, who will be the team’s CRM database lead and maintain a thorough working understanding of MAF UK’s CRM system in order to answer specific team queries. You will need to support the teams day-to-day CRM activities including producing reports, importing data, adding activities, amending details and any other relevant tasks

Purpose of the role

Key responsibilities
Fundraising from Trusts and Foundations
Leading on applications to trusts and foundations with input from the Charity Director and delivery teams as needed, incl:

Writing and submitting high quality applications to trusts and foundations that reflect The Vitiligo Society and our members' stories.

Overview of the role
As the Fundraising Officer, you will play a key role in delivering a range of fundraising appeals and our individual and regular giving programmes. This position also provides plenty of variety and the opportunity to support and develop skills across several income streams. The Fundraising Officer will work collaboratively with the Fundraising and Communications teams and closely with the Senior Fundraising Managers.
What you will do as part of our team
Fundraising activities
Individual Giving
· Manage the regular giving programme by implementing a rolling 12-month plan of meaningful touchpoints to deepen relationships
· Develop and implement a plan to encourage increased giving and recruit new regular donors with personalised cultivation and stewardship
· Maximise engagement and retention of individual supporters (giving at a lower to mid level) by prompt thanking, excellent stewardship and building effective donor journeys
Fundraising Appeals
· Manage Glass Door’s direct marketing appeals including our flagship annual Christmas appeal – taking the lead on the direct mail and email campaign
· Lead on content development, and implementation of donor segmentation based on giving history, preferences, and engagement levels
· Work closely with the Communications Team to deliver a robust communication plan – actively taking part in the case studies, content creation and digital campaign plans (social media and website)
· Create and implement a follow-up communication plan to thank donors and provide updates on the impact of their contributions
· Undertake evaluations of each appeal’s performance metrics and donor responses to refine future appeals
Fundraising support
· Monitor the Fundraising inbox and respond promptly to ad-hoc queries from individual donors or prospects

An exciting opportunity is available for a dynamic individual with a passion for providing excellent customer service and event management. The Education Directorate with our client is looking for an operations and service-delivery lead with the ability to lead a team and manage multiple complex workstreams, to join them in the Business development and education support team.
The Education directorate delivers a wide range of educational programmes for doctors of all grades. The portfolio includes one- and two-day workshops, their accredited programmes, commissioned programmes, online courses, podcasts, and Masters programmes in partnership with university partners.
They have wide portfolio including topics such as teaching, learning, assessment, feedback, supervision and communication skills. The directorate has a team of educationalists who design and deliver these programmes and a team of education coordinators and librarians who provide management and all aspects of learner support.
About the role
You will work closely with internal colleagues such as educationalists, project managers and administrators, as well as colleagues in finance, IT, HR, and communications. You will lead and manage a team, and you’ll be required to work collaboratively with a broader team of volunteer clinical faculty who help us develop and deliver our programmes.
You’ll work closely with the Head of relationships and engagement and the Projects and credentials lead, to ensure that the team support all areas of the business, including event management, projects, marketing and quality assurance.

About the role
This new role will be part of our Supporter Engagement team, which includes Special and Challenge Events Fundraising, Community Fundraising, Individual Giving and Supporter Care. Our Special Events programme has expanded significantly in recent years, and we
have ambitious plans as part of our new three-year strategy. As part of this, we organise a diverse range of fundraising events, including a Comedy Night, Garden Party, Sports Quiz, Carol Service and Gala dinner.
Working closely with the Head of Supporter Engagement, the Special Events Officer will play a key role in developing and managing our special events programme. This includes overseeing multiple aspects of event planning and execution, collaborating with the Marketing and Communications team to produce high-quality event materials and ensuring that every event runs smoothly. Additionally, you will help manage key relationships and maximise fundraising income.
A key focus of this role will be leading the organisation of our annual Carol Service at St Margaret’s Church, Westminster Abbey, while also exploring opportunities to develop a new special event that diversifies our income streams and broadens our audience.
You will also stay ahead of industry trends, conducting competitor research and analysis to ensure our events remain innovative, competitive, and appealing to supporters.
Main duties
- Supporting the co-ordination and delivery of our special events programme.
- Manage the core elements of special events delivery such as the co-ordination of auction prizes, guest lists, guest requirements, admin and communications.
- Work closely with the Marketing and Communications team to produce event materials including event programmes.
- Support the Philanthropy Officer with the organisation of our annual cultivation event.
- Support the Head of Supporter Engagement to identify opportunities for income growth from special events with the view to develop a new Special event within the portfolio.
- Ensure that appropriate and compliant risk assessment, health and safety procedures, protocols and policies are implemented for all special events.

About the role
We are searching for an experienced fundraiser to drive and grow Individual Giving income streams, currently worth around £800,000 annually to the Charity. The postholder will oversee campaigns including Regular Giving, In Memory Giving, Lottery, Raffles, and Appeals, while managing donor stewardship, acquisition, and retention. The Brompton Fountain is the children’s charity at Royal Brompton Hospital - a world leading specialist centre for complex heart and lung disease. We work in partnership with the teams on the wards, paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and in outpatient clinics. Our charity provides support and resources for patients, families and staff, as well as funding lifesaving medical equipment, accommodation - so that parents can stay close to their child during an admission, toys and entertainment for the playroom and improvements to the facilities to create the best possible environment for families to promote their wellbeing during what can often be a very challenging time. Main Duties and Responsilbilties
Community and Events Fundraising
• Assist in the planning and execution of a diverse range of fundraising events, including challenge events and community initiatives.

Supporter Care
• Serve as the primary point of contact for community and events fundraisers, delivering outstanding stewardship ensuring they receive the information and support needed to maximise their fundraising potential while maintaining the highest standards of stewardship and being respectful of potential sensitivities particularly when working with families who are fundraising in memory.
• Provide timely and effective follow-up communications with supporters, ensuring they feel valued and engaged.
• Maintain our CRM database ensuring accurate records to track communications, income, and supporter preferences, ensuring compliance with GDPR and data protection laws.
Administrative and Financial Support
• Process cash and cheque donations, Gift Aid and matched funding claims, ensuring this income is processed and recorded accurately on our database.
• Manage the distribution of supporter resources, conduct stock checks for fundraising materials and ensure an organised work environment for all fundraising assets.
• Overseeing our online shop.
Marketing and Communication
• Create engaging materials (posters, leaflets, stories etc), social media content and e-newsletters to inspire participation in fundraising activities.

Additional Information
Salary is £30,000 - £32,000 per annum (DOE). The role covers 37.5 hours per week. Two days per week working in our charity office at Royal Brompton Hospital - London, and the remaining hours to be worked remotely. Occasional evening and weekend work subject to our events calendar. One-year fixed term contract with the potential to extend contract length subject to performance and funding.
A full driving licence or the ability to travel to events and meetings within London and the South East is essential.
