We work with under-served communities to help them spend time in green space and we support small groups and community organisations to do the same. From supporting people with complex mental health needs to connect with nature and build community, to identifying and removing physical barriers to park access, we work to make sure parks fulfil their potential as free to use, community assets.

At present, we do not have an in-house communication role. We outsource digital marketing to an agency and buy in support for campaigns when funding allows. We aim to have in-house capacity in this strategy period and need a trustee to help guide us to use our limited resources in the most effective way possible.

Breck Foundation is at the forefront of efforts to safeguard children and young people online. Our organisation was founded in 2014 in response to the tragic loss of Breck Bednar, a 14-year-old boy who was groomed and murdered by someone he met online. Our work aims to prevent this from ever happening again. Our work saves lives.
We reach thousands of children and young people in schools and other community settings across the UK with Breck's story. Our talks and educational materials fill a gap in the current UK curriculum that otherwise leaves children vulnerable to online grooming and exploitation.
With the online world becoming ever more ubiquitous and thus a more and more dangerous place for children and young people, and several national and global factors combining to create a more challenging environment for charities, sustaining our work has never been more important than now. This role is crucial to our ability to rise to the challenges of keeping children and young people safe online.
Our trustees play a vital role in making sure that Breck Foundation achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall management and administration of the charity. They also ensure that Breck Foundation has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision. Just as importantly, they support and challenge the executive team to enable Breck Foundation to grow and thrive, and through this, achieve our mission.
Board members have a collective responsibility. This means that trustees always act as a group and not as individuals.
Our Board meetings are held virtually and so you can be based in any part of the United Kingdom.
Duties
- Support and provide advice on Breck Foundation’s purpose, vision, goals, and activities.
- Approve operational strategies, policies, and monitor and evaluate their implementation.
- Oversee Breck Foundation’s financial plans, budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.
- Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
- Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored, and controlled effectively.
- Review and approve the foundation’s financial statements.
- Provide support and challenge to the CEO in the exercise of their delegated authority and affairs.
- Keep abreast of changes in Breck Foundation’s operating environment.
- Contribute to regular reviews of the foundation’s own governance. Attend Board meetings, adequately prepared to contribute to discussions.
- Use independent judgment, acting legally and in good faith to promote and protect Breck Foundation’s interests, to the exclusion of their own personal and/or any third-party interests.
- Contribute to the broader promotion of the foundation’s objects, aims and reputation by applying your skills, expertise, knowledge, and contacts.
As a small charity, there will be times when the trustees will need to be actively involved beyond Board meetings. This may involve scrutinising board papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, presenting externally, or other issues in which the trustee has special expertise.

We are looking for people with particular skills in the following areas:

- Ability to think creatively and strategically, exercise good, independent judgement and work effectively as a board member.
- Effective communication skills and willingness to participate actively in discussion.
- A strong personal commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Enthusiasm for our vision and mission.
- Willingness to lead according to our values.
- Commitment to Nolan’s seven principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty, and leadership.

The Background
Over four decades, Prospect Hospice has become the organisation that people in Swindon,
Marlborough and north Wiltshire turn to when they, or the people they love, are diagnosed with a
life-limiting illness. We have cared for and supported thousands of local people, which is why so many
people contribute in their own way to a charity that makes a positive difference in our community.

others using our skills and expertise, so that people have a choice and support at the end of their life.
Our Board usually meets four times each year, in addition to which Trustees are asked to also join
one of our quarterly sub committees. While it would be beneficial for Trustees to be willing/able to
contribute to Prospect related activity outside meetings, for example to participate in specific project focused tasks or attending and representing the Charity at external events, this is not essential.
Who are we looking for?
Our Board of Trustee team has responsibility for overseeing our strategy and performance and we
are looking for people who will bring the enthusiasm, experience and commitment we need to help
guide the Hospice through the next phase of its development. You will have the ability to be an
effective role model and influencer and be committed to the aims, objectives and values of Prospect

Imagine Barawak as a living, thriving tree. Our verticals are like the main branches—each one strong and important, reaching out in its own direction but all connected to the same trunk, our community's mission. These four powerhouse teams each have a special job:
• The Fundraising and Financial Management vertical covers fundraising and money matters: This team is all about finding resources—like getting donations and grants—to keep our programmes strong and healthy. They will spend their time writing fantastic letters, sponsorship proposals and funding requests on behalf of Barawak as a whole, but also (supporting programme leads) to specific organisations for Barawak service lines.

• The Marketing Outreach and Advocacy vertical covers spreading the word: They tell our story far and wide, making sure everyone knows what we're up to and how they can join in.
Each vertical team works in two distinct ways: the first way is for Barawak as a whole, and the second way is in support of each Barawak service, feeding our programmes, like roots bringing water and nutrients to the branches. Whether it's Poverty Relief, Education, Employment Support, Community Engagement or Sports and Wellness, these verticals give the support each programme needs to blossom and bear fruit. Essex Sight is passionate about improving the lives of blind and partially sighted people and we are now looking for additional trustees to strengthen our dynamic and committed board.
What will you be doing?
Essex Sight in the trading name of Essex Blind Charity. We have been operating across Essex since the 1920s and our purpose is to provide practical and emotional support and advice to enable blind and partially sighted people to enjoy a full and active life in the way they want to. Following the sale of our care home last year, we are now focussing on our community services. This includes: information, advice and guidance; assessment services; home visiting; and social activities, all with the aim of helping people to improve their independence and wellbeing.
We are in the fortunate position to be partly self-funding for the foreseeable future as we look to invest the funds from the sale of the care home in the continuation and development of our community services. We also operate under a contract for Essex County Council.
We are looking to appoint several new trustees to support our succession planning process and to bring additional skills to the board. We are keen to hear from people with a range of skills and experience but we are also looking for people with some of the following specific skills, knowledge or experience (we don't expect to final all these skills in one person):
1: Finance
2: Marketing and Digital
3: Service Delivery/Charity Management
4: Lived experience
Our trustees typically meet 10 times per year and generally serve a three year term with the option to extend for another term.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a range of skills and experience but, in particular, would benefit from experience in the following areas:
1: Finance - to bolster our ability to scrutinise, manage, report and make effective decisions based on our financial situation, including managing our investments. This person will develop good relationships with our management accountants, auditors/independent examiner and investment advisors.
2: Marketing and Digital – to help us build our reach and amplify our impact with the visually impaired community, volunteers and local and national networks including employers and other charities.
3: Service Delivery/Charity Management – to help us ensure that the services we develop and deliver are based on a good understanding of existing needs and services and are managed in the right way. This might include experience around charity management, volunteer management and/or safeguarding.
4: Lived experience - to ensure we build lived experience of vision impairment into all our work and reflect that experience in what we do.
What difference will you make?
You will need a real passion for our work and a high degree of personal integrity, playing a key role in developing the charity as we evolve and grow. You will have a chance to help improve the independence and wellbeing of blind and partially sighted people across Essex, the opportunity to use your existing skills and knowledge to make strategic decisions, and the opportunity to develop new skills.
It is estimated that there are more than 50,000 blind and partially sighted people living in Essex and our services can make a vital difference to people's ability to live the lives they want to lead. This is an exciting time to be part of our work as we look to develop and expand our existing community services. We are looking for candidates who share our values and can help us deliver our purpose.

We are an international charity whose values are grounded in pragmatism and compassion that strives to support and improve the horse-human partnership in all of its guises.
What will you be doing?
Expression of Interest to become a World Horse Welfare Trustee
Volunteering for World Horse Welfare comes in many different forms, from lending a hand at one of our farms, to providing administrative support at our Head Office.
Another way individuals can provide voluntary support is by joining our Council of Trustees – an elected group of professionals responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of our charity. Trustees are not expected to take part in the day-to-day running of the organisation, but as a group they are responsible for its general control and are required to act in its best interests. To do this effectively, our Council includes representatives with various areas of expertise and from different backgrounds.
In return for their time and knowledge, Trustees enjoy the opportunity to use and build their skills, influence the direction of the charity, attend a range of special events and become part of a diverse and friendly network.
