Healthwatch was set up in 2013 to champion the rights of health and social care users, and hold the health and social care system to account for how well it engages with the public. Its remit covers all publicly funded health and social care services for adults and children.

The Advocacy Project delivers Healthwatch services in Kensington & Chelsea, Brent and Westminster – three of 152 local Healthwatch organisations. We’re building on the important work that’s been done to date, while bringing new insights from the voices of seldom heard and hard to hear groups. 

About the role

The role is to lead the work of Healthwatch Kensington & Chelsea, working with a small skilled staff team and a range of volunteers and other community stakeholders. In particular, you will share our commitment to embed user engagement and community development at the heart of the Healthwatch service model, empowering user voices and improving access to health services. 

You’ll have an opportunity to develop the service in line with our ambitious vision. This will include leading on the planning and delivery of targeted projects, supporting a diverse and varied engagement programme, and building relationships with a range of strategic partners. The Healthwatch Manager (Kensington & Chelsea) also takes the lead on managing our local Advisory Board.  You will work closely with the Healthwatch teams in Westminster and Brent. 

Key responsibilities

 Ensure Healthwatch Kensington & Chelsea’s work conforms to all required principles, objectives and statutory obligations, and meets all contractual requirements between The Advocacy Project and Brent Council. 

 Manage and motivate a small staff team to deliver an effective and vibrant local Healthwatch.

 Provide leadership to make sure the patient and public voice is heard across health, social care, children’s and other sectors in a continuously changing external environment. 

 Support the effective working of the Healthwatch Kensington & Chelsea Advisory Board. 

 Ensure local communities are able to participate fully in our work, particularly those that are least likely to have had their voices listened to. Support these communities in influencing local and national policy. 

 Represent Healthwatch Kensington & Chelsea at strategic governance and external meetings with key stakeholders, liaising with nominated Board leads regularly. 

 Develop the service to respond to emerging trends and needs, keeping abreast of Healthwatch England best practice to continually enhance the quality of the service. 

 Monitor the service to make sure it delivers to time, budget and quality; provide reports evidencing this to key stakeholders, including local commissioners, Healthwatch Advisory Board, the Bi-borough Health and Wellbeing Board and Healthwatch England. 

 Develop effective partnerships with key staff in health and social care services. 

 Work with the communications and engagement lead to make sure all relevant internal and external stakeholders receive relevant, timely and up-to-date communication about all Healthwatch projects. 

 Work with the Healthwatch Service Manager and Head of Business Development to identify opportunities for funding additional work which will add value to our Healthwatch services.

Person specification

Essential 

 Excellent knowledge of and experience of working with the health and social care system and the voluntary and community sector.

 Thorough understanding of user engagement, community development, user involvement and co-production principles and practice. 

 Experience of working with diverse communities and tackling discrimination and inequality. 

 Understanding of the public health challenges in Kensington & Chelsea. 

 Experience of managing team members. 

 Experience of contract management and compliance. 

 Excellent communications (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Effective in working with a wide variety of stakeholders ranging from trustees, commissioners, partners, colleagues and local residents.   

 Able to interpret complex information and deal effectively with competing interests and challenging situations.

The senior member of staff is responsible for ensuring the decisions of the Board are acted upon and the charity meets the legal and regulatory requirements of a CIO. The key focus will be on development of new income streams as we navigate challegnes across the site. The General Manager will oversee the implementation of the new Buisness Development Plan. To manage and develop the b inspired Neighbourhood Support Service in Braunstone, ensuring that business plan targets are achieved and positive community impact is delivered.

Responsible for operational management of the staff team, volunteers and site. Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Staff Management:

1. Provide strong leadership (lead by example) ensuring that “front-line” staff are well-motivated and aspire to excellence in service provision.

2. Provide day-to-day management and supervision of service-based Co-ordinaters and other support staff, ensuring business plan targets are achieved.

3. Recruit, select, train (product, systems and procedures), coach, motivate, supervise and appraise staff in order to meet the Neighbourhood Support Business Plan targets.

4. Analyse the training needs of staff, identifying skill sets and the need for development where appropriate. Work with the HR Officer to ensure training is relevant and conducted in a structured manner as part of a personal development plan.

5. Plan and arrange staff work patterns, in conjunction with Service Co-ordinators, ensuring that annual leave and flexi-leave arrangements meet the needs of the service.

6. Ensure that team members maintain accurate, comprehensive and current records via the company management information system

7. Lead the development of a robust Volunteer Strategy.

Direct Services & Project Management:

8. Plan new projects in collaboration with senior management.

9.  Source and respond to funding opportunities (grants, donations, contracts) – completing applications and tenders with associated budgets.

10. Create work plans which identify and sequence the activities needed to successfully deliver and complete projects.

11. Control projects and write reports for management and for funders

Neighbourhood Development & Resident Engagement:

As Data Privacy Manager, you will review, update, and monitor the policies and procedures that are in place to ensure compliance with the Data Protection Regulation 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Regulation (PECR, 2003) laws, including managing internal data protection activities, advising on data protection impact assessments (DPIAs), training staff, and conducting internal audits.
This role focuses on providing data protection advice to Age UK's various business units promoting a "privacy first" approach to design and development of products and services that involve the use of personal data and your primary aim will be to recommend and oversee measures to address any identified gaps in data protection and security.

The successful candidate will use their experience in data governance to undertake regular due diligence on the key elements of the Age UK data privacy framework, identifying and reporting any areas of practice and procedure that that require focus and remedy to ensure that there is no weakness across the charity and our commercial partners.

FUNDRAISING MANAGER (INTERIM)

We have an exciting opportunity to join the thriving and dynamic SARSAS team as our Fundraising Manager.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to help SARSAS realise it’s vision of a world without sexual violence, through our ambitious strategy to extend our preventive programmes and maintain our essential high-quality services. Through developing and expanding income generated through trust and grants, corporate giving and individual giving, you will help us to be part of the systems change to end gender-based violence.

You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and team leads to understand funding priorities, identify potential funders and donors and develop compelling funding bids, proposals and appeals. This will include collaboration to develop partnership proposals.

You will undertake new prospect research and develop and nurture excellent donor relationships. You will seek opportunities to strengthen and build on existing and lapsed funding relationships and be proactive about identifying further development opportunities.

In order to realise our ambitions, we need to extend our programme of fundraising growth, so we can increase our annual income from circa £3 million to in excess of £3.5 million.

About you

Through this new organisational role, you’ll proactively create and grow fundraising income opportunities with individuals, corporate partners and grant giving trusts and foundations. You'll bring our cause to life and building lasting funder and donor relationships, leading the drive for new donor engagement and securing sustainable, multi-year funding.

Through your fundraising expertise, you will have a proven track record of building relationships with corporate partners, individuals and other donors to achieve and exceed annual income targets and KPI’s. You’ll have ability support and mentor your team and the capacity yourself to create and craft compelling bids, proposals and appeals that successfully engage and attract donations from new and existing supporters.

You will be an exemplary relationship builder and have experience in developing multi-faceted partnerships (ideally with experience and success in employee engagement, corporate sponsorship, and/or operational partnerships).

We are a small team and so you will be comfortable rolling up your sleeves to help out team members and to support new business across other income streams.

Key responsibilities

Fundraising delivery and development

• Develop, monitor and manage a fundraising portfolio capable of generating in excess of £500k per annum, establishing a fundraising pipeline and a range of KPI’s that can be tracked and will enable you to make informed projections regarding future income.
• Set up and manage clear planning processes to prepare funding applications, providing clear guidance to colleagues and external partners, which supports effective collaboration, and ensures the submission of high-quality bids, on time.
• Work with and support external consultants and colleagues to help secure fundraising partnerships and income from grant giving trusts and foundations.
•  Write high quality, well-written persuasive and compelling funding applications to secure grant funding.
•  Support the Corporate Partnerships Lead to develop authentic, compelling, creative and winning funding and partnership proposals that can successfully engage corporate partners and align with their needs, motivations, areas of interests and values.
• Develop the SARSAS Individual Giving Strategy and support the FunComms Administrator and wider Comms team to design and deliver excellent, engaging and regular communications and powerful fundraising appeals alongside establishing the associated data and systems to grow our income and pool of individual supporters making one off or monthly donations.
•  Keep up-to-date and accurate records of fundraising activities and provide quarterly updates to the senior leadership team.

Relationship management and stewardship

•  With colleagues, undertake market research and funding insight to identify new prospects and grow our income and pool of supporters.
•  Identify and broker relationships with key funders capable of funding against our fundraising priorities, providing high-quality relationship management, using appropriate communication tools and channels to maintain relationships with key individuals and organisations.
•  Design and implement generic and bespoke stewardship plans for our current network of donors, working closely with the Communications Team on the development of mailings, reports, and events as necessary.
•  Provide advice and support, as necessary, for staff who serve as primary contacts for funders/donors, to ensure that relationships are maintained to a high standard.
•  Build strong relationships across SARSAS and work with teams in an integrative way to achieve organisational ambitions.

Planning, monitoring and evaluation

•  Working closely with the SLT and relevant managers, develop a funding pipeline, which aligns across all programmes, and collaborate on quarterly update reports for the Board of Trustees and the Finance, Risk & HR Sub-Committee.
• Support SLT/ team leads to define fundraising priorities, ensuring that resources are deployed in a timely, and proportionate manner.
•  Maintain accurate and up-to-date records to evidence the impact of fundraising activities, including raised income, donor acquisition, donor retention, return on investment, donor engagement metrics, and our fundraising growth rate.
•  Oversee full implementation of Donorfy system for fundraising
•  Provide high-quality monitoring and evaluation reports.

Staff management

•  Provide leadership for your team, inspiring and motivating staff, freelancers and volunteers, setting KPIs, reviewing and improving performance, ensuring fundraising meets/exceeds targets.
• Provide and/or oversee line management of team members, ensuring that professional standards are maintained, and staff wellbeing is supported.
•  Ensure that all work adheres to all policies including Safeguarding and Data Protection guidelines.
•  Work alongside the HR Officer, to co-ordinate the recruitment of training staff.

Additional information

•  Undertake any other duties commensurate within the role including working flexibility to organisational priorities.

Job Title: Partnership Development Manager

Salary: £34,500.

Contract Type: Contract for 18 months; there is a strong possibility that currently anticipated growth in the team may see this role become permanent during the contract term. The latest research suggesting that the number of children and young people at risk of hunger has rocketed to three million means that one in five children don't have enough to eat.   

When a child is too hungry to learn, when they’re aching for something to eat, they can’t concentrate. They can’t absorb information. Big feelings and worries can be impossible to control. They fall behind in their studies.  

Magic Breakfast provide a nutritious and filling breakfast to over 200,000 children and young people every school day. We work with schools in areas of high disadvantage, helping staff target the children most in need without barrier or stigma.   

Magic Breakfast are ambitious to grow our impact in order to remove hunger as a barrier to learning for all children and young people in the UK. To do this, we need to continue to grow our fundraised income, of which new corporate income is a significant element.

• Making use of multiple tactics to secure meetings with prospects including, for example, cold calling, emailing, running events, event networking and social selling on platforms like LinkedIn.
• Ensuring that risk-screening and due diligence processes have been completed in line with Magic Breakfast’s Ethical Fundraising and Due Diligence policies. 
• Understanding each prospect’s strategic interests through meetings, discussions and research and defining the mutual advantage in partnership. 
• Developing and delivering engaging, relevant and impactful pitches and written proposals to prospective partners.
