About the role
The Head of Fundraising and Development role is pivotal within the New Horizon Leadership Team, responsible for driving forward fundraising efforts and managing a small, dedicated team. This role involves developing and delivering a sustainable income strategy, ensuring high-quality stewardship for our donors, and contributing to the overall success of New Horizon Youth Centre.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategy and Planning: Develop and implement a sustainable income strategy across all fundraising streams. Collaborate with the Operations Director and Heads of Services to create compelling funding proposals.
- Income Generation: Achieve annual income targets and build a pipeline for future sustainable income. Oversee the submission of high-quality funding applications and manage fundraising activities with corporates, individuals, and events.
- Stewardship and Relationship Management: Provide excellent stewardship to donors, manage key fundraising relationships, and ensure effective fundraising systems and processes.
- Team Leadership: Support and lead the fundraising team, providing clear objectives, supervision, and development opportunities. Foster a culture of continuous learning and collaboration.
- General Duties: Uphold the values of New Horizon Youth Centre, follow organisational policies and procedures, and contribute to the Leadership Team's success.
About you
You will be passionate about the work and mission of New Horizon, and combine this with some previous experience of fundraising across multiple income streams. You will bring:
- Proven experience in meeting financial targets within a fundraising or sales environment, ideally across multiple disciplines.
- Successful track record in building relationships with foundations, corporate partners, and high net worth individuals, securing six-figure gifts.
- Strong understanding of and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Excellent written and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex arguments effectively.

About You and The Role
Working as part of the Health & Care Quality team and within a designated geographical region (Southwest Region, which includes areas such as Hampshire, Wiltshire, Devon, Cornwall and South Wales), the SCI specialist nurse will support those with newly acquired spinal cord injuries who are not admitted to specialist services, or those with established spinal cord injuries who are being re-admitted to hospital for treatment unrelated to their impairment.
Through telephone, email or face-to-face visits the SCI specialist nurse will offer guidance and advice to these individuals and/or their family members, addressing issues of concern associated with treatment and care and liaising on their behalf with healthcare professionals in the treating hospitals to ensure these are dealt with in line with best practice standards.
The SCI specialist nurse will also act as an educator for healthcare professionals involved in the treatment and care of spinal cord injured people and working in non-specialist settings and will contribute to the development and delivery of educational offerings available via the SIA Frank Williams Academy. When required, the SCI nurse specialist will support individuals through elements of the NHS Continuing Health Care assessment process, attending review or appeal hearings in their capacity as clinical specialist in SCI care. They will also contribute to the monitoring, evaluation and development of the SCI specialist nurse service via mechanisms put in place for that purpose.

Duties and Key Responsibilites
Sarcoma UK’s research programme
- To support Sarcoma UK’s grant application processes under guidance from the Acting Head of Research. This will include calls for proposals, identifying expert peer reviewers, administering a high-quality peer and lay review process, communication with applicants and potential applicants, administration of grant awards and supporting patient involvement.
- To provide support to the Grant Review Panel and Research Strategy Committee, including organising meetings and preparing minutes.
- To manage Sarcoma UK’s portfolio of active research grants, under guidance from the Acting Head of Research. This will include administration of newly awarded grants, monitoring progress of current grants, oversight of grant finances and reporting on final outputs.
- To support opportunities for patient involvement within the research programme, including managing a network of lay reviewers and facilitating new opportunities, with support from the Patient Involvement Coordinator.
- To support new developments in Sarcoma UK’s research programme, including organising and attending events, collaborative funding calls and initiatives to support early career researchers.
Research Impact and Communications
- To monitor and gather outputs and long-term impact of research grants funded by Sarcoma UK and support in ensuring these are shared with internal and external audiences.
- To plan and produce engaging and reactive and proactive communications about sarcoma research, including website, social media, written and video content, working with the Acting Head of Research and Communications Team to ensure our research activities and outcomes are shared with the sarcoma community and wider public.

Job Purpose:
To provide operational management of the Substance Misuse Through-the-Gate (SMTTG) programme, which supports Lambeth and Southwark women in custody and their transition back into the community. The Coordinator will play a key role in ensuring the service is delivered to a high standard by line managing staff, developing strong partnerships with prisons and recovery services, and fostering a culture of quality, learning, and accountability.
The post holder will also hold a caseload, working directly with women in custody to support them into community services. They will provide robust Through-the-Gate (TTG) support on release and continue to work with women in the community for up to six months to ensure a smooth transition and sustainable recovery.
Key Responsibility Areas:
- Lead the operational management of the Substance Misuse TTG programme, ensuring high-quality, trauma-responsive support for women impacted by the criminal justice system
- Manage and develop staff to foster a strong, inclusive, and reflective team culture
- Deliver direct support to women, ensuring a trauma-informed and person-centred approach

Maintenance Officer
We are looking for a Maintenance Officer to join the Estates team to deliver a range of day-to-day tasks and programmed maintenance jobs at all sites.
Position: Maintenance Officer
Location: Swindon, with some travel to London and Bala (Wales) offices
Hours: Part-time – 22.5 hours per week
Salary: £25,100 pro rata (£15,060 per annum actual)

The Role
You will oversee specialist maintenance companies, which provide a range of services throughout the year, whilst monitoring their performance and health and safety while on site. You will also monitor and record day-to-day safety in the workplace, paying particular attention to portable appliance testing and safety, slip and trip hazards and fire risks.
Within this role you will mainly work at the Swindon office, but you will need to travel to the other offices (London and Bala) as required. Normally you would need to travel to the London office one day a month and two days bi-monthly to the Bala office.
About You
We are looking for someone with the ability to travel to all other sites, with an eye for details and good problem solving skills.
You will have good working knowledge of general maintenance including:
- Health and Safety in the Workplace including Manual Handling COSHH, LOLER, PUWER and related codes of practice
- Security procedures and ability to take responsibility as a key holder of the Swindon office and staying calm under pressure
- Utilities and ability to safely operate electricity, gas, water systems, plant and equipment
- DIY, including, grounds maintenance, machinery, carpentry, painting and decorating. Very competent in safely using tools associated with this work
You will have experience of identifying and fixing minor defects e.g. dents in walls and leaking taps etc and the ability to develop skills appropriate to the role (e.g. PAT testing certification, PA operation etc.)
Ideally, you will be trained to use a forklift or have the ability to use one and have been trained in manual handling.

We are looking for an outgoing and self-motivated individual to help drive and develop vision, mission and strategy to progress the youth work of both the Schools and College Pastors initiatives under the Ascension Trust umbrella and as lead for the Synergy Network.
The focus in this role:
- Coordinating and supporting the Schools and College Pastor initiatives and developing strategies to grow and strengthen the work of our teams and also to promote the network and collaborations with other organisations.
- Enthuse and engage with stakeholders who want to work to combat serious youth violence, including faith groups, police and public sector.
- Develop and implement a future strategy for School and College Pastors and the Synergy Network.
- Develop funding bids for future initiatives such as the prevention of serious youth violence, working with the Youth Endowment Fund, Violence Reduction Units, and developing funding streams for the School and College Pastor initiatives with appropriate funding bodies.
- Develop vision, strategy and training for growth in new and existing initiatives.
- Develop and maintain a communications strategy for the Synergy Network, including events organisation, website and social media maintenance.
- Support the Synergy Network board by organising events, maintaining the website and social media platforms.
- This is a role that allows for flexibility and creativity in approach with training and support available to grow the individual in post.
