Job Purpose

We’re looking for a talented and motivated Communications and Engagement Officer who can effectively convey the life-changing impact of our work, motivate our community to volunteer, donate and fundraise to support our work, and ensure that the information and educational resources we provide reach those who need them most.

Key Responsibilities 

Communications:

· Act as the first point of contact for IPWSO’s public email address and social media channels and ensure timely and appropriate replies.

· Manage IPWSO’s social media channels, creating original and engaging content and posts, and actively engaging with our audiences.

· Manage Google Ad Grant campaigns with an emphasis on growing our supporter base and increasing individual giving.

· Keep up to date with emerging trends in digital communications and social media and recommend potential new channels for fundraising and audience engagement.

· Support the development of videos for IPWSO, in cooperation with IPWSO’s Project Manager and other colleagues. The type of work to be undertaken includes providing support for content development, speaker recruitment, filming and editing, as well as helping source external agencies as needed.

· Maintain and develop the IPWSO website ensuring its security and that it functions both as an effective supporter acquisition tool and a means by which people can easily access information about PWS.

· Produce compelling newsletters and an Annual Report.

· Support the review and update of IPWSO’s Communications Strategy in line with its Strategic Plan.

· Uphold and showcase the IPWSO mission and brand.

· Help oversee the production and design of a range of educational resources for families and professionals.

· Oversee copywriting and proofreading within IPWSO.

· Support IPWSO’s members and liaise with its stakeholders internationally in support of our shared goals.

Engagement:

 · Provide support for online events programmes, in cooperation with IPWSO’s Project Manager and the Online Events Committee.  The type of support to be provided includes hosting Zoom sessions, supporting speakers, follow up administration including evaluations.

· Support IPWSO’s Famcare Board by facilitating their online meetings and assisting with their online events.

· Work with the Project and Operations Manager to provide membership support, liaising with IPWSO’s member organisations as needed.

· Proactively engage with member associations to promote IPWSO and also to understand their needs and how IPWSO can be of help.

· Work with the Project and Operations Manager on our Educational Outreach programmes.  Work will include liaising with event organisers with regards to IPWSO’s booths at different conferences, ensuring follow up as needed (including help with preparation of PowerPoint slides), engagement follow up including data entry to update our database (Donorfy).

Governance Manager (12-months maternity cover)

About the role

This is an exciting time to join Emmaus UK and provide maternity cover for our Governance Manager.

This standalone role is responsible for managing the operations of the board and committees of Emmaus UK, as well as for providing support to local boards at Emmaus communities across Great Britain as they look to develop their governance arrangements.

The postholder will manage the board of trustees, leading on recruitment, induction and compliance, ensuring meetings run smoothly and are minuted effectively. They will also work as company secretary, managing the smooth-running of the AGM, and ensuring returns are made to Companies House and the Charity Commission within appropriate timeframes.

The Governance Manager is responsible for monitoring the development of policies, tracking completion and working with managers to continuously improve policies in line with changing regulation.

The role will also involve extensive work with members of the Emmaus movement, through the performance of reviews of local governance of members, reporting back to local boards on areas to celebrate and actions to develop. They will also be responsible for developing Emmaus UK’s best practice toolkit for trustees to refer to in developing their local governance arrangements, and for liaising with the wider Emmaus movement through facilitation of the membership processes with Emmaus Europe and Emmaus International.

Emmaus UK Governance

• Manage the board of trustees, leading on recruitment, delivering a comprehensive and appropriate induction, dealing with enquiries, maintaining declarations of interest, skills audit and eligibility forms and ensuring all details are up to date and accurate.
• Act as company secretary for Emmaus UK, leading on the preparation for and delivery of the Annual General Meeting, filing required returns, developing documents associated with membership, and ensuring the charity is compliant with relevant charity and company law.

​Board and Committee Meetings

• Coordinate board meetings including organising venues, liaison with the relevant secretary and chairs in creating agendas, preparing and distributing papers and taking and circulating accurate minutes
• Oversee the smooth-running of committee meetings in conjunction with the admin team, including creation of the annual calendar.
• Ensure all follow up actions are coordinated, and ongoing rolling actions logs are maintained and appropriately shared with the Emmaus UK staff team.

Emmaus UK Governance Development

• Lead on governance projects within Emmaus UK, including but not limited to risk, policy management and internal governance reviews, reporting to the Board and subcommittees as appropriate.
• Provide governance advice and support to staff members on an ad hoc basis.
• Monitor all internal policies and procedures ensuring they are fit for purpose and kept under review by the relevant staff members.

​Federation Governance

• Lead on reviews of members’ local governance arrangements, scheduling, undertaking analysis, reviewing documentation, collating responses from members and observations from Emmaus UK Senior Leadership Team members, and reporting to local boards on findings and Emmaus UK’s Audit & Risk Committee on emerging themes.
• Provide guidance for federation members on governance development through ad hoc advice, the production of governance toolkits and supporting resources.
• Facilitate the membership processes and requirements for Emmaus Europe and Emmaus International, supporting transitioning members and contributing to movement-wide events such as the World and Regional Assemblies, international visits and exchange programmes.

The role of Member Response Team Leader offers hybrid working with flexibility to work from home outside of peak periods. Due to key operational and democratic activities, the Member Response Team Leader will be required to attend the office daily from February to April each year and additional periods throughout the year. Outside of this period, hybrid flexibility will apply in line with team needs and organisational policy.

Main duties and responsibilities

1. People Management

• Day-to-day management of staff and workflow
• Manage work allocation, future planning and support for team/line manager

We have an opportunity for an Income officer to join our Customer Accounts team in Bristol.

This is a full time permanent role with a mix of customer visits, home and office working.

We are offering a starting salary of £30,000 - £35,000 per year. 

The role:

As an Income Officer you will be working directly with our customers to manage their accounts, provide payment solutions and take appropriate action to recover outstanding debts. 

You'll take a proactive approach to prevent customers from falling in to arrears, negotiating repayment arrangements, monitoring payment plans and working closely with internal teams and external agencies to make sure they receive the right advice and support. 

You'll be on standby to visit customers in their home as well as occasionally preparing paperwork for legal cases and attending court hearings.

About you:

To be an Income Officer at SNG you will need strong communication skills and the ability to advise customers sensitively on financial matters and arrears management.   

You'll have a knowledge of welfare benefits, arrears management, debt recovery processes and income collection. 

You will also need:

About Crystal Palace Park

At over 200 acres, Crystal Palace Park is far larger than most urban parks. We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable weather and climate scientist to join us at The Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS) as the Science Content and Engagement Officer.

Reporting to the Head of Publishing and Scientific Engagement, you will have responsibility for developing content which supports the Society’s member value proposition project, our partnerships, publishing and events programmes; and create engaging content for various RMetS activities and stakeholders.

You will support the delivery of the Society’s career strategy working alongside our education team; lead our ECR and Youth special interest group; deliver RMetS early career initiatives such as our career events; and support Society committees and team members in ensuring early career representation and involvement across our programmes of work.

What you will do in the role:

Content Development

· Collaborate on a strategic content plan for a members-only area.

· Identify content gaps and create, or coordinate with volunteers, the development of engaging pieces.

Careers and ECR activity support

· Deliver youth and ECR initiatives across events, mentoring, publishing, and membership.

· Co-manage the Student Ambassador Scheme.

· Participate in ECR and Student Conference Committee.

Engagement activities across the Society’s programmes of work

· Commission journal content with Editors-in-Chief and collaborate with marketing teams to promote journal content.

· Help source speakers and attend Events Committee meetings.

· Support partnership projects, special interest group outputs, climate training, education initiatives, and other ad hoc activities.

Essential criteria you will need to demonstrate:

-       A background in weather and climate, either through:

-       A degree in a scientific field where weather and climate is the predominant subject matter; OR

-       A Master’s degree within a scientific field directly relevant to weather and climate

-       Broad knowledge across weather and climate, and evidence of involvement in activities to ensure ongoing current knowledge across diverse areas.

-       A confident and approachable communicator who proactively engages with a wide range of individuals and builds positive relationships across diverse audiences.

-       Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, professional documentation for external stakeholders.

-       A friendly and open-minded approach, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a small team.

-       Excellent organisational skills including the ability to manage time effectively, balance multiple projects with strong attention to detail.

-       Ability to think creatively, be innovative and embrace new ideas and ways of working.

Birmingham Botanical Gardens (BBG) is looking for a highly motivated Development Officer with  experience to join the small but dedicated Development Team to raise funds to retore and preserve the Gardens for the benefit of everyone now, and for future generations. 
Purpose of Role

This exciting new role is vital to increase the income generating capacity of BBG’s Development Team to enable the charity to deliver its purpose and major development over the next 4+ years. In July BBG was awarded an NLHF grant of £9.075m, and has successfully raised over 90% of the capital funds needed. The priority is to close the capital funding gap in accordance with our fundraising strategy and increase funding for other projects and the day-to-day operation the charity, long term. BBG receives no public subsidy and must raise all income from visitors, trading, events and fundraising. The Development Officer post has been created to increase fundraised income for the charity, cultivating and stewarding an expanded and sustained funding and supporter base.

In line with current priorities, the postholder will be required to raise commercial sponsorship income, and income from major donors/individuals to meet capital and operational targets/KPI’s. The postholder will be expected to create sponsor/donor packages, deliver cultivation events and steward donors and supporters on all aspects of fundraising as directed. The postholder will have experience of managing sponsorship agreements to ensure value, compliance and delivery of benefits. 

The role will share responsibility for the management of data, compliance and stewardship of growing funding streams and support the administration of the Development Function. The Development Team raises and manages funds from grants, trusts and foundations, individuals, organisations, business, legacies, etc, and the new postholder will work with the highly effective and dedicated team of Development Director and Development Manager and with the wider BBG team.

Key Responsibilities

· Achieve income and performance targets in accordance with BBG’s agreed Fundraising Strategy and business needs, as directed by the Development Director.

· Raise funding with compelling case for support from sponsors/from individuals, to meet the targets of the Major project, and  fundraising from other sources such as grants, as agreed.

· Contribute to managing BBG’s development/fundraising function data, ensuring accuracy of data and information on BBG’s Spektrix/CRM system to comply with internal requirements and the Data Protection Act.

· Work with Horticultural, Marketing, Learning & Engagement, Finance Teams and other staff to formulate proposals, maximising opportunities for raising funds to support core functions and projects, once the capital is secured.

· Manage funding contracts with sponsors and those of all Development funders -including payment schedules, high quality impact reports, monitoring and compliance with any conditions of funding.

· High quality personalised stewarding of all donors and supporters, ensuring BBG’s reputation as an exemplary charity is maintained. Respectful approach in all fundraising.

· Research and cultivating funding prospects and submitting high quality well-researched applications, securing new supporters and interest within the wider funding strategy.

· Work with Marketing to manage fundraising messaging and communications, including digital, print and press coverage, all in accordance with fundraising regulation. Liaise with BBG Finance staff to ensure reporting meets BBG’s wider business and charitable requirements.

· Support with organising relevant cultivation events/visits to the Gardens, special thanks and stewardship delivery outcomes, talks, events, tours and hospitality.

· Maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, and industry codes of practice on fundraising. Ensure compliance with the Charities Act, Data Protection Act and Fundraising Regulator Codes of Conduct and Best Practice. Conduct due diligence.

· Manage any volunteers working in support of the development function at BBG.

· Deliver donor benefits and acknowledgements.

· Demonstrate a commitment to working as a member of the BBG team, assisting with other activities, sometimes working overtime and in the evenings.

· Be happy, confident and proactive in developing Development and Fundraising relationships, in person, beyond the Gardens’ boundaries and representing the charity externally.
