About the role

As Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Manager you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and reporting on impact of the international programmes (TI Defence and Security programme 90%, TI Global Health 10%). You will provide the technical and functional support to the programmes by capturing, analysing and reporting project results as well documenting and sharing project learnings from within the TI and global chapter programmes.

In addition to this role, you will:

Monitoring (40%)

• Be responsible for rolling out the results monitoring framework and results reporting strategy by gathering and analysing outcome and impact data via day-to-day monitoring and quarterly simplified outcome harvesting exercises.
• Present findings to the Programme Management team and donors.
• Lead on devising, coordinating, and conducting regular data-quality assurance initiatives
• Play a key role in designing Theories of Change for TI and global chapters.
• Drive MEL system acceptance and strengthen a ‘MEL culture’ within the team. 
• Review and advise on improvements to the Theory of Change and logframe to ensure relevance and measurable pathway to impact

Learning (40%)

• Develop processes to ensure learning is identified and captured across all areas of the programme.
• Lead the creation of regular learning briefs, including brainstorming key topics, gathering evidence from key TI chapters around the world, reporting on lessons learned, and presenting findings internally and externally.
• Collect, analyse, synthesise, and present on the latest evidence on ‘what works’ in anticorruption sector.

Evaluation (10%)

• Assist TI and chapter programme teams in the design and roll out of programme evaluations.

Data and Knowledge Management (5%)

• Act as DS point of contact for the M&E lead to capture, disseminate project learning and ensure that this is fed into future TI and partner work.

About you

To be successful in the role you will have/will be:

• Proven experience of the design and implementing of Monitoring and Learning frameworks in international programmes (ideally covering Fragile and Conflict Affected States)
• Applied training in or experience working with research methods (quantitative and qualitative)
• Strong data reporting skills with proven ability to engage with and manage donor formal reporting and ad-hoc requests;

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of and/or interest in forest governance and human rights, particularly in Central Africa. About us

World Jewish Relief has been successfully delivering our refugee employment programme, STEP, for over seven years. Research into this programme showed that women were dropping out more often than men, not moving through the programme as fast as men, and not getting the same level of job outcomes. As a result, STEP Forward was created to specifically address the barriers to integration faced by women.

The aim is for women refugees to make informed decisions about their lives and their continued pathways in the UK. In April 2023, a new phase of the programme was launched with a target to support 315 women until April 2026 in Coventry, Bradford, and Leeds.

Project Details

We are seeking a Monitoring and Evaluation consultant(s) to assess STEP Forward programme effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and provide recommendations for enhancement. The consultant(s) will be responsible to produce three monitoring reports between 2024 and 2026.

Role Description

As Volunteer Programmes Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing the successful delivery of projects in the Decorate A Child's Life (DACL) and Adventure Play Partnership (APP) volunteering programmes. Your role will include  managing the day-to-day operations for Volunteer Programmes, oversight of programme coordination,  reviewing and updating procedures on a rolling basis and keeping good records, including financial monitoring and collecting impact data for regular reporting. World Child Cancer is seeking an experienced corporate and philanthropy fundraiser to join our growing team and play a vital role in improving the chances of survival and quality of life of children with cancer in under-resourced countries.

About World Child Cancer

Over 400,000 children worldwide develop cancer each year. Childhood cancer is most often curable, with over 80% survival rate in high income countries. However, in many low-and-middle-income countries survival rates are often 25% or lower.

World Child Cancer’s goal is to help redress that inequity and improve the chances of children with cancer to survive and thrive in under-resourced countries. We currently work with local hospitals in 12 countries in Africa, Asia and Mexico to enable children with cancer to have equal access to the best possible treatment and care through awareness raising on signs of childhood cancer, providing financial, logistical and emotional support to address barriers to access treatment, training of healthcare workers and advocacy.

Overview of the role

This newly created Senior Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager role will play a key part in raising income from companies and philanthropists to help achieve World Child Cancer’s mission.

You will be passionate about enabling children with cancer to have equitable access to quality treatment wherever they are born. Role Purpose

The purpose of the Fundraiser role is primarily to raise funds from UK trusts, foundations and statutory funders and to identify, generate, grow and maintain this vital income stream. Some engagement to support other strands of fundraising will be required.

• Manage the Cathedral’s donor records including gift aid declarations, personal information and legacy pledges and other non-financial information provided by donors - adhering to data protection best practice at all times;
• Liaise with the Marketing & Communications Manager to analyse the existing donor communications and suggest improved methods of engagement;
• Liaise with the Marketing & Communications Manager to arrange for the creation and maintenance of pages on the Cathedral website that highlight the fundraising activity and communicate successes achieved;
• Act as the primary point of contact for all existing and potential trust and grants funders, directing enquiries as appropriate;
• Develop a network of strong relationships with existing and prospective grant, trust and statutory funders;
• Organise meetings and events for prospective supporters and provide briefings for colleagues.

Information Management, Monitoring and Evaluation

• Maintain the Cathedral’s fundraising database, ensuring all records are updated and maintained correctly in accordance with the Cathedral’s data protection policy;
• Manage the reporting, recording and administration progress of existing grants, advising relevant members of the team well in advance of reporting deadlines;
• Work with others to develop and implement effective evaluation, monitoring and reporting processes for funders, and ensure reporting requirements are fulfilled and activities remain outcome and impact focused;
• Manage and maintain records and monitor progress of applications and relationships, including working to agreed KPIs;
• Prepare regular progress reports on fundraising and activities for SMT and the Chapter as required;
• Use the Cathedral’s fundraising database to analyse the success rates to support fundraising strategy and individual projects;
• Work with the Finance team to ensure that all funding is quickly and correctly processed and acknowledged and that financial reports are available in the appropriate format;
• Work with the Governance & Committees Manager and Finance Team to support reporting requirements and compliance with the relevant legislation and codes of conduct;
• Work with the COO and Marketing & Communications Manager to create appropriate evaluation and legacy documentation.

Other

• Manage the relevant administration that accompanies this role, including booking meetings and taking minutes as required;
• Play an active role as a member of the Cathedral team, supporting each other as required;
• Be an ambassador for the Cathedral and assist the Fundraising Advisory Panel in developing positive relationships with the Cathedral’s key stakeholders.

Person Specification

Knowledge/Experience

• You will have experience of writing fundraising bids and completing engaging applications;
• You will have knowledge and experience of heritage, community or religious grant-funding sources and how to access them;
• You will have experience of handling applications and administrative procedures for grants;
• You will be proficient in project finances, and budgeting, with skills in persuasion, advocacy, problem-solving, and decision-making;
• Knowledge of best practice in the trusts sector is important;  
• You will have strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills;
• Experience in a small or medium-sized charitable organisation;
• Membership of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising is desirable.  

 Skills/Aptitudes

• Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications;
• Able to think creatively and laterally about funding approaches;
• Good communication skills, both written and oral;
• Strong administrative skills and attention to detail;

Terms and Conditions

Working Hours

The working hours shall be 35 hours per week (exclusive of meal breaks). Some out of hours working will be required to support meetings and events and this will be notified in advance. Time off in lieu will be awarded in line with Southwark Cathedral’s policy.

Annual Leave

25 days per annum as well as statutory bank holidays, with an additional 5 days (pro-rata) after 10 years service. 

Probation

The appointment is subject to the satisfactory completion of a six-month probationary period.

Season Ticket Loan

Once the probationary period has been completed satisfactorily, the person appointed will be eligible to take out a season ticket loan.

Pension

The person appointed will be eligible to join a defined contributions pension scheme managed by the Church Workers Pension Fund. The Cathedral will contribute half of the annual premium of 10% of salary.

What is expected of you in the first six months?

• You will take on the management of at least one UK Government-funded health partnership grants programme operating across a range of countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
• This includes running the grants selection, award, contracting and onboarding process
• You will take over project governance structures, managing the inputs of programmes team members, Country Directors and implementing partners.
• You will organise and attend a programme launch event in-country, as well as visit health institutions in sub-Saharan Africa.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Programme Management

• Coordinate staff and implementing partners to ensure the timely completion of deliverables.
• Quality assure the application of THET’s grant management processes by other team members.
• Ensure compliance with donor/country agreements, regulations and requirements.
• Identify, track and manage programmatic risk.
• Ensure effective communication with partners, donors and other stakeholders.
• Oversee project budgets, including monitoring spend against budget, undertaking re-forecasting, and authorising spend.
• Oversee the quarterly reporting process to donors.
• Coordinate and support workstream leads within the project.

Programme quality and design

• Contribute to the design of new projects: co-ordinating the proposal team; overseeing a needs analysis; liaising with stakeholders; contributing to a Theory of Change; developing content; and developing the budget.
• Develop and nurture relationships with potential and existing donors, partner organisations and consultants as appropriate.
• Contribute to the design and improvement of project and health partnership quality programme approaches, including standards, processes, tools and guidance.
• Contribute to the delivery of capacity development interventions for grant holders and THET staff.

Monitoring and Evaluation

• With support from the Research, Evidence and Learning team, oversee Monitoring and Evaluation processes for the programmes you lead, e.g. logframe and reporting mechanisms
• Lead the quarterly and annual reporting and analysis review process with institutional donors.
• Write project reports and programme reviews, and coordination of donor reporting as appropriate.
• Ensure grant holders have effective M&E plans in place and coordinate the review of their reports.
• Coordinate visits to project implementation sites for monitoring and audit purposes.
• Facilitate learning and sharing of good practices across programmes and the wider organisation.

Team Support and Line Management

• Line manage members of the Programmes Team (1-2 Programmes Coordinators).
• Oversee the contracting, payments and deliverables of in-country consultants and other suppliers.
• Lead the induction process for new Programmes Team members and other THET staff when required.
• Work with colleagues from across the team to identify areas for improvement and strengthening.

Miscellaneous

• Attend and present THET’s work at UK and international events, including the THET annual conference.
• Join your choice of THET’s and external thematic working groups, such as on gender equality and social inclusion, on the climate crisis, etc.
• Contribute to the strategic direction of THET and play a leadership role in the Programmes Team

Activities may include:

The successful execution of a targeted growth plan from trusts and foundations

• Deliver a comprehensive philanthropy giving plan, with targets and performance metrics
• Review and optimise current prospects pipeline to grow long-term, sustainable income (both restricted and unrestricted) generating £15,000 from Trusts and Foundations
• Excellent cultivation and stewardship with existing and new trusts and foundations to maximise income potential and build strong relationships
• Be responsible for ensuring effective and timely reporting of progress made to grant funders

Write and submit compelling bid proposals to secure funding from major trusts, working closely with colleagues to ensure content is accurate and up to date

• Work with colleagues to produce consistently outstanding, high quality, imaginative and compelling proposals, to present to both large and small trusts and foundations
• Plan and deliver a schedule of high-quality submissions that delivers on time and on targets
• Oversee the implementation of the terms and conditions of successful grants, monitoring, reporting and evaluation of projects performance against the agreed activity plan and liaise with colleagues as necessary

Record and maintain accurate records of donor communication and income through our CRM, producing reports and insights where appropriate

• Maintain efficiency in donation fulfilment, documentation of grants, acknowledgement and manage all correspondence (email, mail) through the Donorfy donor management system
