Parkinson’s UK works with health and social care professionals to transform Parkinson’s services across the UK.
We do this through the Parkinson’s Excellence Network (PEN), a network of around 6,000 health and care professionals with a shared vision: to build an expert Parkinson’s workforce and improve health and care services for people with Parkinson’s.
We bring together and support health and care professionals to share best practice, network and collaborate, share resources and education, and drive improvements to services for people with Parkinson’s and their loved ones.
We currently have two vacancies for Parkinson’s specialist nurses on the national Clinical Leadership Team.
What will be expected of you in this role
You'll:
- Provide strategic guidance to the Parkinson’s UK team through the monthly
- Parkinson’s Excellence Network Steering Group.
- Bring your expertise as a Parkinson’s specialist nurse, acting as a source of expert
- clinical advice for Parkinson’s UK teams.
- Drive engagement and participation with the Excellence Network.
- Inspire, challenge and collaborate with the health and social care professional community to drive significant improvements to Parkinson’s services.
- Act as a professional ambassador for the Excellence Network.
- Attend the annual in-person PEN National and Regional Clinical Leads meeting.
- Support the PEN national calendar of events through attendance or promotion. This includes Excellence Hub meetings and other activities centred around our national priorities.
- Join relevant governance groups, including the UK Parkinson’s Audit Governance Board.
- Act as a clinical media spokesperson for Parkinson’s UK on occasion (optional; training will be provided if required).

- Have a good understanding of the landscape of health and social care delivery, education and workforce development to support the strategic aims and objectives of Parkinson’s UK.

- Be formally welcomed and introduced to the Excellence Network and your role
- Be provided with an introduction pack so that you can gain an understanding of where your role fits in.
- Meet with the Professional Engagement Lead or Associate Director of Policy & Health Strategy after 6 months in the role for a review meeting and then annually thereafter (or more frequently if required).
- Be provided with a set of resources and information to support you in your role eg. aready made presentation on the PEN.
- Be invited to an annual event for the National and Regional Clinical Leads, to provide updates, training and opportunities for discussion.
A bit more about the opportunity
Time commitment will be 0.5 days per week (1 programmed activity) to be worked flexibly across the month.
Monthly rate will be based on skills and experience.
Term of consultancy services will be set tenure of 3 years from date of appointment, with an option to extend once for a further 3 years.
We will also ask you/your employer to send across a monthly/quarterly invoice to the Professional Engagement Team at Parkinson’s UK and include a short paragraph outlining what you’ve done in the role each month. We can provide an example of this.

The Finance Team at Alzheimer’s Research UK is responsible for maintaining the financial records of the Charity and providing timely and accurate financial information. The team is responsible for ensuring there is a strong financial control environment, and for providing support and advice on all finance matters to employees across the charity.
You will be required to be in the office at least two days per week and will have a high level of financial acumen and understanding. As the Finance Manager - Compliance, Controls & Reporting, you will assist the Head of Finance in all elements of technical accounting, including financial compliance, internal financial controls, and financial reporting. Working alongside the Finance Manager - Transactional Accounting and the transactional finance team, you will ensure a seamless finance function, ensuring that best practice is adopted at all times, to minimise risk to financial fraud, and to ensure compliance with all applicable financial regulations and reporting requirements.
Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
· Support the development and implementation of best financial practices.
· Lead the production of annual financial statements and reporting, and together with the Finance Manager - Transactional Accounting, lead the annual audit process.
· Lead the on the production of annual financial statements and annual audit on behalf of Alzheimer’s Brain Bank, a small joint venture company in which we hold a 50% share.
· Cash flow monitoring and projections.
· Prepare and submit all Office for National Statistics, Charity Commission, Companies House and OSCR (Scottish Charity Regulator) returns.
· Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns, ensuring compliance with VAT reverse charges and applicable business/non-business VAT recovery rules.
· Be the first point of contact for internal and external partners regarding technical accounting and related matters, including charity VAT and Trading rules.
· Provide financial information for funding bid applications.
· Provide financial advice regarding income recognition criteria, particularly regarding legacy accruals and philanthropy pledges.
· Provide financial advice regarding expenditure recognition criteria, particularly regarding multi-year grants.
· Monitor and reconcile all restricted income against restriction forms and the grant system to ensure restricted funds are managed and spent in accordance with donor wishes.
· Review policies and procedures alongside the Head of Finance and the Finance team to ensure they are applicable, up to date, understood across the charity and consistently adhered to.
· Maintain a sound financial control environment, ensuring all assets of the charity are safeguarded against financial fraud, as much as possible.
· Working with the Head of Finance, design and implement an assurance programme on internal financial controls.
· Keep up to date with all technical finance developments and reporting requirements applicable to the charity.
· Manage Finance team GDPR deletion requests and GDPR compliance actions.
· Maintain insurances for the organisation and be the first point of contact between insurance brokers and the organisation for queries and claims.
· Manage the interface between the finance system and the grant management system to ensure the correct recognition and ageing of grant liabilities.
· Provide cover for the Finance Manager - Transactional Accounting as required.
· Undertake any other relevant duties and projects delegated by the Head of Finance, in line with the responsibilities of the post.
What we are looking for:
· ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification.
· Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
· Experience in a previous finance role.
· Statutory accounts preparation and audit experience.
· Good understanding of VAT.
· Strong understanding of internal financial controls.
· Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and numeracy skills.
· Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage workload effectively and work proactively.
· Ability to communicate effectively to colleagues at all levels across the Charity.
· Passionate, proactive, and friendly attitude.

· Ability to interrogate and reconcile financial data.
· Strong ethical standards and a high level of personal integrity.

Additional Information:
Ways of working: As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.
Roles that are classed as part of the Agile ways of working are not able to claim any costs for Mileage/Travel on Public Transport, Accommodation and/or Meals. This includes when attending the office for various meetings/events.

About the team:
This is an exciting role, joining our newly formed Digital and Content team. As the organisation continues to invest in its digital estate to support organisational goals, the role of Senior Digital Project Manager will play a key role. You will work with the Head of Digital and Content to build a brilliant website and digital products, which meet the needs of our carers and our other key audiences.
What you need to know about this role:
In 2023, we launched an online information hub for our carers where they can find out about services that can support them in their journey. This currently sits separate to our main site. We are now working with Studio24 to bring these sites together, to create a unified user experience, with new website functionality. A key consideration for this development is our recent Department for Education contract to deliver high quality training to carers across England. As part of this service, we must ensure that carers can seamlessly book online or face-to-face training through our website. Additionally, they should have access to a wide range of online information and advice content. While some of this functionality exists within our current digital estate, not all of it does and there is room for improvement. Therefore, the redevelopment project aims to create a cohesive website experience with clear user journeys and new functionality.
The type of person we’re looking for:
We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in project management and UX. You will be experienced in managing complex digital projects throughout their lifecycle. You will be able to work collaboratively and have excellent communication skills to engage both internal and external stakeholders. You will have a genuine passion for working with and involving users in meaningful ways and have a particular interest in accessible and inclusive design. You will be able to build rapport with internal stakeholders, keeping them up to date with digital developments, explaining things in easily accessible language and obtaining buy-in from across the organisation. Purpose of the role
Co-production in terms of design, delivery and evaluation is fundamental to the programme, and so we are looking for a person with direct lived experience of MHLDA inpatient services to join the FoNS team and to lead on co-production, bringing a lived experience lens to our team.
As an organisation we recognise that FoNS is at the start of our co-production journey. So, whilst the primary focus of the role is leading the co-production element of the mental health programme, working closely with the programme lead, a secondary purpose is supporting the development of co-production throughout the organisation.
Responsibilities will primarily consist of:
· Working as part of the FoNS Leadership Team for the FoNS Ward Manager Programme including attending relevant meetings with NHS England
· Playing a leading role and taking operational responsibility for co-production within the FoNS Ward Manager Programme. This includes meaningful engagement of persons with lived experience of mental health, learning disabilities and autism, families and carers, and staff throughout programme design, delivery, governance and evaluation
· Working as a part of the FoNS team, bringing a lived experience lens to support, promote and develop co-production across the organisation
· Understanding lived experience from a range of sources ensuring a broad demographic is represented and feed this into the FoNS team and co-production work

We work in partnership with Age UK Buckinghamshire to deliver the Hospital Discharge Support Service. The service covers the county of Buckinghamshire and aims to improve the experience of people leaving hospital, at what can be a very difficult time for them. Our teams work with patients to make this experience more manageable and to minimise the risk of readmission. This service supports people aged 18 who are leaving hospital after a stay. Older people are highly represented in this client group.
We are looking to recruit an experienced person-centred leader who is passionate about delivering services that make a difference to people’s lives. You will lead a team of staff with oversight of each service area, will be highly organised, able to make decisions and use your initiative. The role will also involve monitoring service processes, systems, and workforce capacity to enable us to identify areas for change and improvement.
The purpose of the role is to manage and deliver the day-to-day operation of the service. Operating across Buckinghamshire, our discharge staff are based at both Stoke Mandeville and Wexham Park hospitals. Our community team are based in the Age UK Buckinghamshire offices in Aylesbury but reach out to serve residents across the county. Additionally, a team of volunteers provide additional capacity and reach. The post holder will be based at the office in Aylesbury but will be expected to travel across the two hospital sites when required,
The hospital teams operate 7 days a week supporting patients on discharge. Over a year more than a thousand patients will be taken home by our teams and helped to settle in safely. The community team will support residents post discharge, liaising with any other services, offering practical support to settle in at home such as shopping, light housework or picking up prescriptions and offering a regular call to ensure all is well.
