We are searching for a team of Academy Operations Managers who will be responsible for ensuring all operational aspects of the Academy activities are seamlessly executed end-to-end. We are looking to recruit a Funding Officer to join the London, Southeast and East Team, working in the North and West London area.

• As a funding officer you will assess requests for funding and work together with colleagues to make funding decisions.  
• By working closely with people and communities from a defined geographical area, you will understand what matters to them and where our funding can make the biggest difference.
• You will manage grants using local knowledge, best practice, thematic expertise, and the experience of customers and stakeholders to improve our grant making and inform our decision making.

You’ll also need to support our stakeholders, helping them to make connections that will help them achieve their goals.
• Being responsible for the pipeline of projects you will need to understand and respond to the different needs of our customers by providing support and considered feedback and be willing to have challenging but constructive conversations.
• As Funding Officer, you will ensure our grant management and assessment play an effective part in contributing to the Fund’s knowledge and learning as a grant maker.
• You will manage your own caseload, liaise with grant recipients, undertake project visits, identify, and manage risk and support organisations to deliver their projects and measure their impact.
• You’ll also need to work within the Fund’s policies and procedures and the necessary legislation, and in a way that is in line with our vision and principles.
• You will work with stakeholders at different levels, represent the Fund within your local area including at funding fairs and external meetings and create opportunities for people to come together. You will share learning from your conversations, events, grant holder reports and evaluations with other colleagues so that we can maximise our impact.

The Risk & Compliance Officer supports the Deputy Director of Business Operations Support (DDBOS) is ensuring the NT has suitable arrangements in place in respect of risk and compliance. They help the DDBOS to manage the NT’s risk management and compliance processes to ensure the NT has the best opportunity to prevent issues arising, minimise risks and maximise opportunities and to ensure that the NT meets its regulatory responsibilities.

Job Summary

Taking a leading role as part of the Individual Giving management team, you play an important part in helping to achieve a step change in the growth of the net voluntary income of St John. The role will work closely across Individual Giving and the wider Fundraising Directorate to develop an evolving supporter acquisition strategy that will aim to recruit new supporters with a focus on digital. The role needs to focus on managing the implementation of the strategy including using insight and data to develop, implement, manage, monitor and evaluate campaigns across a range of channels, with a cutting edge and contemporary approach whilst staying current with the continuously changing legislation and support climate. Responsibilities include working with agencies and suppliers to project manage the full cycle of direct marketing campaigns.

About You

• Significant experience in a third sector direct marketing role
• Track record in managing effective digital campaigns on a national or regional basis
• Experience of using fundraising databases e.g. Raiser’s Edge, Microsoft Dynamics or similar
• Extensive experience of using a variety of fundraising channels including digital, email social media, direct mail, telemarketing and SMS
• Experience of leading a revenue generating team, including generation of six figure acquisition income 

About the Role

• Oversee the supporter acquisition programme, taking responsibility for outstanding donor recruitment with the highest standard of quality and compliance and ensuring a diverse programme mix; ensuring they are in market on time, on budget and on brand.
• Develop an annual plan of acquisition activity; monitoring and analysing all campaign results, with ongoing test and learn mechanisms in place to drive continuous improvement and making recommendations for future activity to effectively maximise income and ROI
• Working collaboratively with key fundraising and data teams; lead the development and continuous improvement of new supporter product development
• Strong agency relationship management across a variety of partners and suppliers, from building relationships and negotiating to contract and routine performance reviews

The Active Wellbeing Society (TAWS) is a community benefit society and cooperative working with communities to identify, mitigate and remove barriers that prevent them from living active and connected lives.

In 2024, TAWS was given the opportunity pilot a Surplus Hub Project at Birmingham Wholesale Market, where edible waste food destined for anaerobic digestion can be diverted to human consumption. To purpose of this role is to maximise the amount of surplus food available to the Food Justice Network groups via the Birmingham Wholesale Markets.

Food Redistribution Manager:

The Food Justice Network is a network of around 300 independent partner organisations, all of who are providing support across the city. FJN Partners offer a range of services from foodbanks to community cafes, to community pantries and warm spaces, all delivering vital support to some of Birmingham's most vulnerable citizens.

Your role will be the sourcing and procuring farming surplus and collective buying of fresh produce for the Food Justice Network. Part of this opportunity will be facilitating the set-up of a city-wide network to make surplus food redistribution more coordinated and effective.

There is already a significant amount of surplus food redistributed across the city and lots of work going on in terms of reducing waste in businesses but we know that sometimes unexpected surplus food arises and not every food business is plugged in to the surplus food network.

Alongside the core of the role, you will also be managing two to three people who you will be working in conjunction with but on separate projects.

This will provide less reasons for businesses to waste food with a strong, well connected and promoted network.

• Build relationships with growers to redistribute food through the Food Justice Network and beyond, while identifying and improving local surplus food donation processes.
• Coordinate surplus food collection and collaborate with the Food Justice Network Engagement Officer for effective distribution.
• Partner with Xcess, a national surplus food network, to oversee haulage of surplus food into Birmingham.
• Support the development of a city-wide network to improve coordination collaboration and efficiency in surplus food redistribution.
• Work closely in partnership with and provide cover for the Surplus Food Lead at the Markets.
• Produce comms and improve relationships with potential local sources of surplus food in Birmingham.
• Lead, support, and develop a team of three, conducting regular 1:1s and performance reviews in line with company values.
• Manage workloads and resource planning to ensure team efficiency and delivery against departmental goals.
• Handle day-to-day people management issues, including absence, performance, and development.

Role Overview

As a member of the Joint Leadership Team, the post-holder will contribute to the leadership, planning and delivery of cross-team projects, helping to influence and meet the charity’s strategic objectives. Specifically, they will lead projects and programmes to deliver improvements in quality and standards of health services for people affected by Crohn’s and Colitis. About You

Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent, you will have experience of delivering health service projects and programmes and have come from a health services or medical charity background. You will be adept at developing operational performance metrics, strategies and objectives and have a proven track record in developing strong working relationships with external stakeholders. Whilst not essential, experience of managing and leading a team would be beneficial, as would be an awareness and knowledge of the needs of people affected by Crohn’s and Colitis.

In this role, there is plenty of scope for working from home,  although there will be times when you will need to travel to events/conferences.
