We know from research that patients who live in areas of social deprivation and financial hardship have some significant health and non-healthcare care needs relating to their cancer experience but also, they find it difficult to access conventional cancer treatment and support services.

Our vision is to address the health inequalities in our area and improve access to holistic cancer support by bringing the services to an area where people can access. Working at our Big Purple Bus locations, you will be seeing clients face to face and also providing telephone and digital support.

Main purpose of post

• Act as first point of contact on the Big Purple Bus for any requests for information and support from the public or professionals (drop-in, appointment, phone, email), triaging more complex requests appropriately. 

• Manage professional and self-referrals to the service and triage appropriately, including to internal colleagues and services and partner agencies, ensuring people referred receive timely and coordinated information and support.

• Meet with people on the Big Purple Bus predominantly to provide face to face support when accessing the service (patients/clients, carers, relatives, professionals), providing high quality information and support within defined level of competence in relation to cancer.  This will include assessment of service users’ information and support needs (Holistic Needs Assessment/Cancer Care Review), provision of written or verbal information, supportive listening and action planning to facilitate self-management. 

• Act as a single point of contact for any on-going Big Purple Bus support services liaising with the individual being supported and any professionals and agencies involved in their care. 

• Work proactivity with primary and secondary care and voluntary sector partners to promote Weston Park Cancer Charity and build awareness of the support available for people living with and beyond cancer.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic person to join a growing and dynamic team that provides excellence in supporting people living with and beyond cancer and their families.  The post has been created to support the expansion of cancer support services.Applications are welcome from health, social care and voluntary sector professionals with experience of personalised care and understanding of the wider determinants of health, including, social, economic and environmental factors. 

The postholder will be part of a team which provides a ‘Single Point of Contact’ for people living with and beyond Cancer and professionals such as clinical nurse specialist, GPs, social workers and voluntary sector partners, in Sheffield and surrounding areas.  They will manage referrals to the Big Purple Bus service and triage appropriately including to internal colleagues and services and partner agencies, ensuring people referred receive timely and coordinated, information and support. 

The postholder will provide personalised information and support about cancer and cancer services, within their level of competence, which will enable people to navigate the health and social care system and make choices that are best for them.  The post holder will employ a What Matters to You? approach, using Holistic Needs Assessments and Cancer Care Reviews to support collaborative and person-centred practice.

The postholder will be expected to take an active role in contributing towards the development and implementation of Big Purple Bus support services, have the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a wider team, adhering to excellence in service delivery and customer service. 

We are looking for someone with a highly organised and flexible approach to work.  You must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to adapt your approach to the needs of the people we support.

Posts will have a primary base at the Big Purple Bus but with some occasional working from one of our other locations (Cancer Support Centre & Charity Hub) dependent on service need.

What you do:

Delivery of Information and Support to people living with and beyond cancer and their families. 

The post holder will: 

• Act as first point of contact on the Big Purple Bus for any requests for information and support from the public or professionals (drop-in, appointment, phone, email), triaging more complex requests appropriately. 

• Manage referrals to the Big Purple Bus service and triage appropriately, including to internal colleagues and services and partner agencies, ensuring people referred receive timely and coordinated, information and support.

• Act as single point of contact for any on-going support services liaising with the individual being supported and any professionals and agencies involved in their care. 

• Provide information and support within level of competence of the post (Macmillan Levels of Intervention Criteria L1,2, and L3 under supervision; NICE approved four tier model of psychological support Level 1).

This will include: 

• Assess the needs of individuals attending / contacting the Big Purple Bus service and identify the required level of intervention. 

• Support users sensitively to help them understand basic clinical information they have been given (e.g. around diagnosis, treatment, effects of the illness and treatment, cancer terminology), helping to resolve situations where users feel they have been given conflicting information. This will include addressing concerns and queries and working to resolve them and the ability to recognise and work within the limits of own competence and responsibility is crucial, referring issues beyond these limits to relevant people.

• Provide basic supporting information around topics such as reducing the risk of cancer, cancer screening, healthy living, the impact of cancer, in the most appropriate format (e.g. written, verbal, and others as appropriate to overcome any barriers to communication). 

• Provide information on topics such as e.g. benefits, travel insurance, and facilitate access to services e.g. specialist benefits advice, complementary therapy. 

• Liaise with relevant staff at all levels as appropriate both within the charity and externally to address issues identified, and seek advice with more complex issues, directly involving others where necessary, e.g. Cancer Information and Support Advisor or Senior Advisor; Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS).

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of effective relationships with partner organisations in primary and secondary and voluntary the sector via networking, also giving talks and presenting at relevant groups.

• Deliver awareness raising activity to promote the service. 

Operational delivery 

The post holder will: 

• Collect and collate data regarding contacts with the service users in person and produce reports of activity as required. 

• Contribute to events and displays externally liaising with departments and agencies as required. 

• Provide general administrative support to the Health Care Professionals and Outreach Service Manager [FM1] [PM2] 

• Work flexibly in order to deliver the objectives of the cancer support service, including attending events and outreach sessions across South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and Bassetlaw.

• Assist in the development of leaflets, posters and other materials, e.g. To publicise the service, recruit volunteers, support cancer awareness and other events.

• Facilitate open and effective communication with multi-professional teams, both internally and externally. 

Management & Leadership 

The post holder will: 

• Seek advice and support from senior colleagues on clinical matters.

• Adhere to policies and protocols relevant to the post, contributing to their updating and development as appropriate.

• Adhere to systems and processes to promote a healthy, safe and secure working environment and maintain accurate documentation and report any concerns. 

• Contribute to the continuous improvement and development of the service, identifying areas for change / improvement and suggesting new approaches and implementing changes in practice identified through other routes e.g. annual service review or user feedback. 

• Act as a role model by demonstrating expertise and maintaining credibility, ensuring a positive image of Weston Park Cancer Charity is maintained. 

General Duties 

• Report accidents and incidents as per Weston Park Cancer Charity’s policy. 

• To be an ambassador for the charity. 

• Demonstrate a positive and supportive attitude to staff and volunteers and uphold the philosophy and values of the charity. 

• Respect confidentiality applying to all WPCC areas. Adhere to GDPR policy.

• Be proactive with your training and development needs, maintain relevant professional registrations and adhere to codes of practice

Contractually this role is London-based.

Contract: Permanent, full time (35 hours per week).

Job Information

We’re looking for a creative-loving Marketing Communications person to join our digital content team at Hospice UK. It’s a really exciting chance to jump into a pivotal role here, and facilitate much of the great visual content that we produce as a team.

You’ll be working with some lovely people in the wider Communications and Campaigns team, which is part of an External Affairs directorate. We’re a small, close-knit department but already this year we’ve achieved some truly mighty results – not least, our recent rebrand, new strategy and new visual identity.

As you might imagine, working at a hospice charity brings with it some truly compassionate people. It’s a really lovely place to work because the people make it so. As Senior Marketing Communications Officer, you’d be part of a team of three, including your line manager (Senior Digital Marketing & Campaign Manager), and Membership Communications Officer.

And yes – as a hospice charity, we do work with death and dying on a daily basis. But it’s not all doom and gloom. Actually, by talking about it, writing about it and sharing stories about it, we’re helping to remove the stigma and taboo that it often comes with. And those stories and communications help give people hope, strength and confidence, sometimes when they need it most.

As Senior Marketing Communications Officer, you’ll be looking after a lot of our more creative, aesthetic products and projects. You might already be working as a Marketing or Digital Marketing Officer or Coordinator, and looking for the next step for your career. Or you could be an established Marcomms professional searching for a new challenge. Maybe you’ve already been in a marketing management position and want to get back to doing what you love!

Either way, you’ll be pretty knowledgeable on how to look after digital channels like social media and websites, and will have some experience of both. You might have some photoshoot management and video projects under your belt too, and ideally you’ll have experience of managing a digital asset management system. The role will also involve some print project knowledge, so it would be really handy if you’ve looked after relationships with designers, printers and know how the process works (and what gsm our new Impact Report should be, for example!)

We don’t expect you to be a brand specialist, but hopefully you’ll have experience of working with an organisation’s brand book, tone of voice and visual identity guidelines. That’s because many people in other teams here will turn to you for guidance on how to use our new brand, which logo or font to use, and requests to source appropriate photography in our house style.

We’re looking to bolster our content and storytelling about compelling hospice care, and we’d love someone to join us with ideas on how to elevate that, and help source and write those stories up for us. Part of your role as Senior Marketing Communications Officer will be to help produce content – stories, videos, photos, resources – to our two major national campaigns: Hospice Care Week, and Dying Matters Awareness Week. The role of the Outreach & Development Worker is to ensure carers of all ages and backgrounds are aware of their rights and know how to receive support from Gaddum and other services they need at the right time for them.

The job holder will provide outreach & support sessions, deliver groups and events for carers and other relevant partners across Salford. Creating exciting new opportunities for carers through networking and building partnerships.

The role will focus on the outreach provision, being based in different locations across Salford including hospitals, community venues, mental health settings and others accessed by people with caring responsibilities. The role will include supporting the continued development of the service, assisting with the creation of resources and training. The role will also support our involvement offer; ensuring carers are at the forefront of service change and service delivery.

What the job involves

As Communications Planning Manager you’ll be reviewing all incoming internal communications briefs, ensuring they have clear objectives, audiences, and timelines, and are aligned to organisational priorities and goals. You’ll be responsible for leading as well as updating, when necessary, our briefing and communications team process.

You’ll be responsible for workflows across the communications directorate, having oversight of capacity, prioritising and scheduling work accordingly. You’ll support annual business and resource planning; helping the organisation prioritise and understand the potential impact vs effort in business decisions.

To ensure our teams can work at their optimum we’re currently updating our approach to communications processes, including updating our project management tools, prioritisation structure and our wider programme management office.

What we want from you

To be successful in the role you’ll need to have exceptional organisational skills and be a strategic thinker who thrives on implementing and driving new processes to deliver efficiency.

You’ll have demonstrable experience with stakeholder and relationship management – building rapport at all levels, managing conflicting priorities and ensuring effective use of resources. In reviewing briefs you’ll be comfortable in challenging the details provided and developing briefs with product owners to ensure resources are being used effectively.

A background in marketing communications or similar would be ideal for understanding the needs from the start in developing effective campaigns. Experience in using workflow tools (like Trello) or Agile methodologies will be desirable but not essential.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a Challenge Events Manager to join our Sports and Challenge Events Team managing an innovative and evolving portfolio of mass participation events, including the mighty London Marathon.

You’ll join a driven team committed to growing our challenge events portfolio and delivering standout supporter experiences, whether they’re jumping out of a plane or crossing that iconic London Marathon finish line. You’ll be marketing a range of tantalising mass participation events to supporters and devising engaging and inspiring stewardship journeys to make their Young Lives vs Cancer experience memorable.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

No two days are the same at Young Lives vs Cancer. So, summarising your ‘day to day’ isn’t easy. Here are some of the main things you’ll be doing, but you’ll find more details in the job description.

• You be responsible for driving supporters into the charity, using your top-notch marketing skills, and working with our Digital and Brand teams, to target third party mass participation events to new and existing audiences.

About the role:

We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated person with experience of low carbon retrofit, asset management, and business development to join Repowering London’s growing team. You will be a core part of our mission to tackle climate change and move towards a more inclusive and sustainable future. 

This will be a high-profile role within the executive team of a nationally significant social enterprise that is at the leading edge of urban community energy, with significant ambitions for scale and impact. You will work alongside the Executive Team with shared responsibility for setting and realising the organisation’s goals, strategic priorities, and business plan. 

Community Retrofit is a place-based approach to decarbonisation and community development, that creates low-carbon infrastructure, which is technically integrated at a local level, and provides direct benefits to local communities, for example through community ownership, affordable energy supply, or high-quality jobs.

You will be responsible for leading the Community Retrofit team. The team currently encompasses seven staff working across domestic and non-domestic:

• Rooftop solar installations

• Communal heat networks 

• Retrofit assessment and coordination 

• Data collection and analysis 

• Asset management 

Rooftop solar is the most established asset type deployed by Repowering, with installations dating to 2013. Retrofit assessment and coordination services started in 2023, and communal heat network investments are expected in 2025.

You will be responsible for ensuring high quality installations of low carbon assets that perform as forecast.

You will lead the development of improvements to our processes for evaluating potential sites and deploying and maintaining low carbon assets and retrofit measures. 

The role will require ongoing refinement of Repowering’s community retrofit offer to community groups, building owners and public bodies such as Local Authorities, and support the growth of long-term partnerships with our stakeholders, including supply chain partners.

In particular, working with the Repowering executive team you will support the incubation of a suite of a finance offers that allow a wider range of households, businesses and communities to participate in community retrofit. 

You will also support Repowering’s work to increase employment opportunities for young people in the low carbon sector, through how we structure our procurement for installations and by the training programmes we run in-house and with partners.

The Community Retrofit Team is one of Repowering’s four key teams, which include Communities, Energy Supply, and Core Operations. Each of these teams supports the work of the others and ongoing coordination and communication will be an important part of the role to maximise the opportunities for learning and innovation across the organisation.

The right candidate will have a high level of technical due diligence, project management and business development experience, with a track record in leading successful teams. This is particularly important as Repowering London is in a growth phase and is expected to expand significantly in the coming years. The Senior Multiple Needs Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) will work within a dynamic, crisis intervention, advocacy and support service based at the CGL Ealing Women’s Wellness Zone.  The IDVA will provide support in the local community and at the Ealing Women’s Wellness Zone.  The successful candidate will be co-located up to 5 days a week at the Women’s Wellness Zone.

The IDVA will be closely working alongside CGL colleagues/team to deliver support to women with a range of complex support needs including substance misuse, mental health, domestic abuse, sex working, trafficking, and offending behaviour. The IDVA will work in collaboration with their team members to holistically support women in the borough of Ealing to achieve sustained recovery, improved health and wellbeing, helping women to manage/mitigate risks, and empowering them to reach their fullest potential in society as well as ensuring the voice of survivors informs every stage of the process.

The Senior Multiple Needs IDVA will assess the needs and risks of survivors, carry out short and longer-term risk management, safety planning and support. As well as identify and refer to services appropriate to their needs. They will also proactively advocate and advice women of their rights and options for seeking help and support from other agencies, encouraging them to engage with other agencies, and help co-ordinate the provision of multi-agency support where necessary.

About You:

To be successful as the Senior Multiple Needs IDVA you will need to have:

Excellent understanding of domestic abuse and its effects on women and children, of best practice in supporting survivors of domestic abuse, and of the MARAC. As well as understanding of drug and alcohol issues and experience of working within a related field.

Bringing your experience of risk and needs assessment, safety and support planning, and crisis planning and successfully managing high numbers of referrals and experience of working in a co-located setting with another agency and providing consultations/briefings to professionals to support in upskilling them around Domestic Abuse. Role description

Results has a long and successful history of engaging with UK parliamentarians around international development issues and providing them with the briefings and questions they need to raise these issues in parliament. As the Parliamentary Advocacy Officer for Education, you will lead our parliamentary work on education issues in line with our new strategy and commitment to equity. You will have a good understanding of how the UK Parliament works and how to engage parliamentarians in our issues. 

You will lead relationships with UK parliamentarians around global education, including providing the Secretariat for the APPG Global Education.

Key responsibilities

Parliamentary advocacy

● Working with the Head of Parliamentary Advocacy and others in the organisation to develop and implement a high impact and politically astute advocacy strategy for global education.

● Alongside the specific global education strategy, contribute to the development of Results’ overarching parliamentary advocacy strategy, working closely with the Head of Parliamentary Advocacy and other members of the team.

● Lead on the parliamentary work on global education for Results UK, by building and strengthening relationships with MPs and Peers that result in their championing the end of poverty, specifically the importance of global education, and building support for the key elements of strong national education systems.

● Provide the secretariat function to the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Global Education. The APPG secretariat/coordinator function includes guiding the Group’s work programme and activities, arranging meetings and events, corresponding with the APPG Officers and Members, briefing MPs and Peers to ask questions or speak in parliamentary debates and representing the Group externally, for example with the FCDO, Global Partnership for Education, Education Cannot Wait and others.

● Lead the planning, delivery and evaluation of Parliamentary Delegations to other countries and advocacy tours to the UK, working with the relevant Policy Advocacy Officer and others in the Parliamentary Team.

● Work closely with the Grassroots Advocacy Team to ensure parliamentary and grassroots campaigning activity is coordinated and the greatest impact is achieved between the relationships our grassroots campaigners build with their local MPs, and the work led from the office to support MPs in Parliament.

● Ensure our parliamentary advocacy and relationships always remain non-partisan and cross-party, in line with our charitable aims and objectives.

Partners and coalitions

● Liaise with other global Results organisations, to coordinate our parliamentary advocacy at a global level.

● Work closely with civil society and other partner organisations and allies in the UK to coordinate parliamentary advocacy in the UK.

● Represent Results UK in global coalitions and consortia, such as Send My Friend to School (SMF), the FLN (Functional Literacy and Numeracy) Hub and others as agreed with the Head of Parliamentary Advocacy.

● Identify and develop new partnerships in line with our new strategy and our focus on equity.

Communications and media

● Where capacity allows, identify media opportunities and support media activity (including traditional and social media) related to global education.

● Contribute content to Results UK’s website, blog and social media to help achieve our organisational objectives and strengthen our brand presence.

● Publicise the APPG's activities, primarily through its website and twitter account.

● Represent Results at external meetings and events in relation to global education advocacy.

Organisational Development

● Carry out effective monitoring, evaluation and learning of your work, recording activity and outcomes that enables Results UK to measure its success, in addition to measuring the impact of your activities towards these outcomes.

● Be a key part of Results UK’s organisational development by participating in strategic discussions, evaluations, sharing your experience and ideas, and working flexibly to support other staff as required.

Person specification

This role is ideal for someone with public affairs or political advocacy experience, preferably in the UK, who understands the way that political decisions impact global poverty and wants to influence these decisions. A strong understanding of and passion for global education. Equally important is a proven ability to quickly gain an understanding of a complex new area and translate it into succinct, clear, achievable recommendations.

This post will provide excellent opportunities for leading parliamentary advocacy to deliver real change in funding and policy outcomes on global education and other issues; for building and deploying a strong understanding of key international development issues; and experience of working directly with UK parliamentarians and other actors across the international development sector.

Essential criteria

• At least one year of experience in a substantial parliamentary or public affairs role with demonstrable success in managing relationships with parliamentarians from different parties.
• Understanding of the UK Parliament (including the roles of MPs and Peers; the range of activity parliamentarians can undertake in parliament to influence Government policy; the role of APPGs; Select Committees).
• A good understanding of international development issues and in particular, the need for approaches based in equity and partnership.

Job Purpose:

The Institutional Funding Manager will play an important role in SHA’s institutional income generation activities. Working closely with assigned country teams, the post-holder will support pipeline development, lead the development and writing of high-quality bids, donor engagement, and positioning for contract and grant opportunities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are critical for this role.

French and/or Portuguese language skills are desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

Proposal development

• Identify, research and advise on new funding opportunities.
• Coordinate proposal development for assigned countries/donors and cross-organisational teams to respond to funding opportunities.
• Contribute to meeting departmental financial and non-financial (volume and quality of proposals) targets.
• Develop and oversee proposal development timetable; coordinate inputs; write and edit content; provide quality assurance on fit with donor priorities; ensure compliance with internal review and approval procedures; ensure timely submission; and follow up with donors for feedback.
• Facilitate proposal consultation meetings, prepare summary presentations and develop meeting notes.
• Work closely with colleagues in the Programmes Department, who lead project design, to contribute to the assessment, research and design of projects for specific donor funding opportunities.
• Lead tracking of funding opportunities including monitoring funding databases, liaising with donor staff and colleagues on progress of applications or potential funding opportunities.
• Work closely with Programmes Department colleagues to support and/or lead contract negotiation with institutional donors.

Donor Strategy Alignment, Engagement and Relationship Management

• Support donor strategy to maximise relationships and funding from donors through: meeting donors and cultivating contacts; creating and maintaining strategic account plans; liaising with colleagues across the organisation to coordinate donor meetings and briefings; and writing capacity statements/quality statements for specific donors. 
• Maintain up-to-date information on donor priorities, strategies, regulations and activities pertaining to SHA’s strategic plan.
• Ensure relevant staff including senior management and Country Directors are briefed on donor activities, through the preparation of briefing notes and maintaining up-to-date information on our management information system.
• Provide advice to Programme Department colleagues on donor policies and priorities, in order to support overall donor strategies.
• Maintain and report on donor relationship and income pipelines on a periodic basis. 
• Manage relationships with assigned funders to build effective long-term partnerships.

Programme Funding Team and Miscellaneous

• Work with colleagues within the Programme Funding Team, and across the organisation, to improve the standard of proposal and report writing and donor relationships, and ensure funding opportunities and contracts are managed according to donor requirements.
• Coordinate the timely review of grant agreements to signature
• Add and maintain opportunities, donor records, files and time records in the organisation’s management information system.
• Provide capacity development and training in programme funding and bid writing to colleagues.
• Contribute to Programme Funding Team reporting.
• Represent the organisation in donor funding-related groups and networks.

Knowledge, Experience & other Requirements

Essential

• Minimum of three years’ experience in roles which included programme funding.
• Excellent written skills, and the ability to creatively turn complex project and/or organisational information into compelling proposals.
• Evidence of success in developing proposals and securing funding from institutional donors (e.g. USAID, EU, GIZ, UN, FCDO).
• Ability to form good working relationships and to coordinate with colleagues across the organisation and with partners in multiple locations.
• Administrative skills such organising and maintaining records, files, and databases
• Experience of building and maintaining excellent relationships with institutional donors and partners.
• Self-motivated, proactive and driven individual, with experience of managing and prioritising own workload, meeting tight deadlines and working under pressure.

The position:

You will manage our Volunteer team, requiring exceptional communication, a natural affinity for people management and organisation, and an ability to inspire people to get involved with our work. You will be responsible for the overarching strategy and success of the Volunteer Program.

Line managing two members of staff, you will ensure our Volunteer team sets and meets their strategic goals, contributing to our organisational priorities. Developing strategies which effectively mobilise our volunteers to drive campaigning work, you’ll ensure volunteers make the biggest possible impact for animals whilst remaining engaged and supported.

This role reports into the Head of Programs, while working closely with the rest of the THL UK team.

Hours:

This is a temporary 12 month maternity cover, full-time position over Monday to Friday.

From 1st July 2024 we are piloting a four day working week across the whole of the UK organisation. This pilot is planned to run for 12 months, at which point a decision will be made by our Board of Trustees as to whether this will become permanent. Success of the trial relies on the organisation being able to achieve the same or improved level of impact in four working days as five, with staff experiencing either the same or improved levels of wellbeing. 

During the four day week pilot, working hours for this position will be reduced to 30 hours per week, spanning Monday to Thursday, with no reduction in salary. This will be a temporary change to the contractual terms for the successful candidate. The appointed person must be prepared to increase their working hours to 37.5 hours per week if a return to a five-day working week is decided. In the event that THL UK considers before the end of the trial period that the trial is having an adverse operational impact, we reserve the right to bring the trial to end on one month’s notice.

Who you are:

Volunteers will be your passion. You’ll have a deep understanding of the importance of this kind of supporter and how to best steward their specific experience and manage their unique needs. You'll understand how to best manage and recruit volunteers, mobilising our UK wide network effectively both remotely and on the ground in order to create change. You’ll know how to best communicate and engage with them in order to make the most out of their time and efforts. You are someone who wouldn’t ask volunteers to do something you wouldn’t do yourself and you’ll ideally have some kind of experience of campaigning in a paid or voluntary capacity (e.g. attending protests).

Someone with previous line management experience is desirable, as you’ll need to be able to effectively manage and lead your team of direct reports.

As a member of the Leadership level of the organisation, you’re someone who can meaningfully contribute to organisation wide decision making, thinking holistically and strategically across teams.

As the manager and leader of your team, you’ll have demonstrable experience of organising several deliverables or projects, which involve multiple teams, at any one time.

You can forward think strategically and collaboratively, considering the volunteer program as well as the work of other teams, setting realistic timelines with this in mind and meeting deadlines reliably.

You’re adaptable, and can work nimbly, with desirable experience working specifically within a campaign environment in some way, where things can change quickly and unexpectedly.

You’re someone who can keep your cool in challenging situations, being able to problem solve and reprioritise with ease to lead your team to success, even when things change at the last minute. You are able to continually evaluate and identify areas of improvement for the volunteer program, recognising key opportunities to evolve and adapt for the best possible impact for animals.

Home based, you’ll have a strong ability to work independently, but you’re also someone who can work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Primary Duties:

Management

Manages the Lead Grassroots Campaigns Coordinator and the Volunteer Program Administrator

• Ensures staff receive the training, resources and support to do their jobs effectively, encouraging the professional development of individual team members

• Manages and leads the Volunteer team to achieve agreed goals

• Develops volunteering goals, in collaboration with the Programs department, and is responsible for timely reporting and tracking of these

• Sets/clarifies job expectations and provides regular feedback, guidance and support to your team

• Empowers staff in the ongoing delivery of their work, from development of strategies and techniques through to successful day to day outputs

• Manages time off requests and approval of expenses for the Volunteer team members

• Manages overarching budget for Volunteer team

Strategy

• Develop and manage all plans and overarching strategy for our Volunteer team, including volunteer stewardship, recruitment and grassroots activism on the ground, ensuring the day to day is delivered effectively by the team

• Work together with the Head of Programs to develop and guide THL UK Volunteer strategy and activities, identifying key priorities and strategies to further the program

• Be an active member of the Programs department Leadership team, working closely with other managers within programs and the Head of Programs to deliver department goals

• Be an active member of the wider Leadership team across the organisation, contributing to organisation level decisions and working to ensure effective strategic alignment, ensuring Volunteer work is communicated successfully and opportunities for collaboration maximised

• Analyse & report on the effectiveness of activities delivered by the team, including timely goal reporting, feeding into funding proposals and more

• Observe and work with other organisations to learn new approaches and share/coordinate strategies, making connections with other organisations as required

Volunteering

• Lead our volunteer program to ensure our volunteers take action with us and remain engaged

• Ensure the Volunteer team organise effective and engaging actions and opportunities for our volunteers which contribute to our campaigns, working particularly closely with the Campaigns team

• Determine overarching training strategy, recruitment and internal processes for the volunteer program as a whole, with supporter experience at the heart

• Oversee our volunteering policies and procedures and their successful implementation, including regular reviews

• Ensure volunteering remains at the heart of what we do, you identify a diverse range of opportunities for our volunteers to get involved with across the entire organisation which ultimately contribute to campaign success, and high satisfaction amongst the volunteers themselves

In addition:

• Attend conferences, events, protests and actions as required

• Participate in team meetings including leading, note-taking and facilitation.

• Attend in-person workshops several times a year.
