What you’ll be doing

Role Overview

As a member of the Joint Leadership Team, the post-holder will contribute to the leadership, planning and delivery of cross-team projects, helping to influence and meet the charity’s strategic objectives. Specifically, they will lead projects and programmes to deliver improvements in quality and standards of health services for people affected by Crohn’s and Colitis. In doing so, they will work closely with not only the  Director of Services & Evidence and Heald of Health Services, but also external stakeholders including health and social care organisations, academics, researchers and other charities.  The post-holder will also be actively involved in leading, supporting and developing the Health Services team.

About You

Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent, you will have experience of delivering health service projects and programmes and have come from a health services or medical charity background. You will be adept at developing operational performance metrics, strategies and objectives and have a proven track record in developing strong working relationships with external stakeholders. Whilst not essential, experience of managing and leading a team would be beneficial, as would be an awareness and knowledge of the needs of people affected by Crohn’s and Colitis.

We are based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, so we are easily accessible by road and rail. In this role, there is plenty of scope for working from home,  although there will be times when you will need to travel to events/conferences. You will be required to attend two Directorate days each year and occasional face-to-face meetings with your team or our partner agencies. In addition, the charity meets four times annually at its office in Hatfield (or a location in London) for its’ ‘All Staff Together’ days, at which attendance is mandatory.

At Young Roots, we want to see a compassionate and welcoming society for young refugees and asylum seekers in the UK. We work alongside young people seeking safety in the UK, building trusted relationships, providing practical and emotional support and promoting young people’s rights and power.   

Our youth clubs and casework are transformative for young refugees, allowing young people who have fled danger, had traumatic journeys and who are often here alone, to find community and connection, have a space to be a young person and access support in addressing a whole range of practical challenges they face. We also draw on our evidence from working every day with young refugees and asylum seekers to call for change to the laws and policies which are harming young people.  

The Youth Development Coordinator is responsible for the development and delivery of our youth development programme for young refugees and asylum seekers. 

You will be focused on ensuring our programme activities achieve our outcomes, are in line with our strategy and identify areas for change and development under the direction of the Head of Services. An excellent communicator and skilled at working with partners, you will be key in the implementation and running all of our weekly youth activities, including a Youth Club and Advice and Support Hub working closely with the Youth Development Worker and having oversight of our weekly Young Women’s group. 

As an experienced manager, you will lead our team of skilled youth workers, working alongside the Brent team to provide holistic support to young asylum seekers and refugees in Brent.  

You will prioritise the participation of young people in all activities, ensuring excellent safeguarding by following our policy and protocols, and ensure that we collect excellent data for monitoring and evaluation and to aid our future planning. You will also assist with staff and volunteer recruitment and reporting to our funding partners. 

The Youth Development Coordinator will hold a Designated Safeguarding Officer role at Young Roots for which they will receive full training.

About the Role

As Executive Director of Boiler House Spaces, you will be responsible for leading the charity and its small and committed team, to develop strategic partnerships and funding to take the organisation forwards. 

Key responsibilities include:

Leadership & People

· Collaborate with teams for effective service delivery and staff coverage.

Strategy & Partnerships

· Represent Boiler House Spaces and develop partnerships with key stakeholders.

· Lead the Good Place programme with partners and the community.

· Oversee finances, report quarterly, and manage fundraising.

Governance

· Support the Board with governance, strategy, and risk management.

Capital Project & Other Duties

· Lead the capital project and ensure policy adherence.

· Manage emergencies and take on additional tasks as needed.

Regional Fundraising Manager (North Wales Region)/ Rheolwr Codi Arian Rhanbarthol (Rhanbarth Gogledd Cymru)

This is a fantastic opportunity to join Wales’ leading cancer charity as a Fundraiser. You’ll manage raising funds across an already established North Wales region with loads of scope to generate more income and grow connections.

You’ll be joining an experienced Wales fundraising team who generate over £2.8million of annual income. Your fundraising impact is seen in people affected by cancer through the services we run, the difference to lives we make and the campaigns that make meaningful change.

You’ll be managing and building relationships across North Wales with our supporters, Friends of Tenovus groups and establishing new fundraising connections and work with teams of volunteers. You can expect to manage events such as our annual Lovelight concerts, Singathons and Breast Cancer Awareness Month to name just a few.

Your region is already warm with strong supporter connections and exciting development opportunities to grow across the region in places like Wrexham, Bangor, Llandudno, Anglesey, Mold to Barmouth and Bala.

Whilst it’d be great if you’ve done Third Sector Fundraising it isn’t a must have to be considered. You may have transferable skills when it comes to sales, customer/business development or done similar roles in areas such as: Fundraising Coordinator / Administrator, Supporter Engagement work, Income Generation, Sales, Marketing, Estate Agency, Recruitment, Event Management, Customer Service and Development

Working Hours: 35 hours per week with flexible working

Due to the nature of our fundraising work you’ll need to be flexible at times to work evenings and weekends. We are Zarach, the children’s bed charity, and we’re on a mission to end child bed poverty, giving children the opportunity to engage at school and break the cycle of poverty. 

In our nearly seven years as a registered charity, we’ve captured the hearts and attention of many individuals, community groups, businesses and funders who want to support us on our mission. We’ve also been given an incredible media platform from which we have raised awareness of child bed poverty at local, regional and national levels. This support and awareness has seen us deliver over 12,000 bed bundles to children to date.

Our cause and story have captured the nation’s attention, and we have been provided with an incredible national platform that has seen us appear on local and national TV, on the radio, and in the national press. This has included appearances on BBC Breakfast, ITV News, Channel 4 News, Radio 5 Live, BBC Look North, and The Independent newspaper supported our Christmas 2023 appeal, culminating in Zarach being the front-page story on Christmas Day. 

In our short history, we have received continual funding support from a range of charitable trusts & foundations, businesses, and individuals, providing a great overall income and resources mix. 

With an estimated 4.5 million children in the UK living in poverty – including 1 million experiencing destitution and around 900,000 living in bed poverty – we have an aspiration to reach more children, in more areas of high need across the country. 

We are now looking to appoint, for the first time, a dedicated Fundraising Events Manager to work within our small and dynamic Fundraising & Supporter Engagement team. You will help us unlock the financial and awareness-raising potential that a programme of events can deliver as we seek to lift more children out of bed poverty across more parts of the country.

As our ideal candidate, you will need to be within commuting distance to our Leeds warehouse, meaning you can travel regularly to meet with the team. 

You will be someone who has proven experience in fundraising event management and/or the delivery of successful corporate events, from concept to execution. 

Alongside your fundraising-related skills and experience, we’ll be looking to see that you have a genuine care for our mission and, as such, are self-motivated to do a great job and be a values-led member of our team.

Ideally, you’ll have experience of working within a charity or not-for-profit organisation, due to some of the specialities that come with this. But charity experience is not essential if you can demonstrate an appetite and track record for continual learning and development across your working life to date.
